ENG: 'Opinon of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety on the health impact and related costs of common ragweed in France'; As underlined in a previous ANSES publication (ANSES 2014), common ragweed1releases a highly allergenic pollen that can easily travel long distances and is thus a major public health challenge. Widespread in Hungaryand in northern Italy, ragweed is also found in the Rhône Valley in France. Recent maps have shown wider spread of the plantin France over the past few years.The health impact of ragweed is regularly assessed in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the most affected region of France, by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) and the Regional Health Observatory (ORS). According to a telephone survey of the general public, the prevalence of ragweed allergy was estimated at 12.5% to 14.1% in this region and has been increasing since 2004 (Anzivino, Marant-Micallef, andSonko 2014). High spatial disparities have been observed. Expenditure associated with this allergy (including use of medication, consultations and sick leave) was estimated at €8.9 to €13.2 million in 2014 in the Rhône-Alpes region (Gelas 2015). However, the health and economic impact of ragweed still needs to be assessed inthe rest of France (outside of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes).The Third National Environmental Health Action Plan (2015-2019) provides for measures for the monitoring and assessment of ragweed in France, but with no legal framework. Decree no. 2017-645 of 26 April 2017 defines measures intended to prevent the appearance of ragweed or limit its spread; their implementation is placed under the responsibility of prefects after opinions issued by the ARS and the Departmental Council for the Environment and Health and Technological Risks (CODERST).In this context, the Directorate General for Health submitted a formal request to ANSES on 5 April 2018 to:- Document the prevalence of common ragweed allergy and its changes in recent years in France and abroad based onthe level of exposure to ragweed pollen and the level of infestation.- Identify potential mechanisms and factors associated with differentiated changes in this prevalence. These may include intrinsic factors related to the plant (local spread) and extrinsic factors related to human activity and climate change possibly favouring the spread of ragweed.- Estimate the prevalence of ragweed allergy across France and how it may develop based on proposed scenarios of changes in the state of infestation. A distribution by département will be investigated.- Assess the cost of ragweed allergy across France and how it may change taking the same change scenarios into account. A distribution of these costs by départementwill be investigated. The impacts of ragweed vary in nature. In light of the objectives set, this appraisal focused on the health impact and ultimately the costs associated with this impact. However, data are also given for informational purposes to drive reflections concerning the agri-environmental impacts.; Comme l’ont souligné de précédents travaux Anses (Anses 2014), l’ambroisie à feuille d’armoise1émet un pollen fortement allergisant qui est facilement transportable sur de longues distances, constituant ainsi un enjeu de santé publique important. Très présente en Hongrie et au nord de l’Italie, l’ambroisie est également recensée dans la Vallée du Rhône en France. Des cartographies récentes ont mis en évidence une extension de la présence de la plante en France au cours des dernières années.L’impact sanitaire de l’ambroisie est régulièrement évalué en Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, région française la plus touchée, par l’Agence Régionale de Santé (ARS) et l’Observatoire Régional de Santé (ORS). Les dépenses liées à cette allergie (incluant utilisation de médicaments, consultations, et arrêts de travail) ont quant à elles été estimées entre 8,9 et 13,2 millions d’euros en 2014 en Rhône-Alpes(Gelas 2015). Cependant, l’impact sanitaire et économique lié à l’ambroisie reste à estimer dans le reste du territoire français (hors Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes). Le 3ème Plan national santé-environnement (2015-2019) prévoit des mesures pour la surveillance et l’évaluation de l’ambroisie en France, mais sans cadre juridique. Le décret n°2017-645 du 26 avril 2017 définit les mesures destinées à prévenir l’apparition de l’ambroisie ou lutter contre sa prolifération et dont l’application est placée sous la responsabilité des préfets après avis de l’ARS et du Conseil départemental de l’environnement et des risques sanitaires et technologiques(CODERST).Dans ce cadre, la direction générale de la santé a saisi l’Anses le 05 avril 2018 afin de : •Documenter la prévalence de l’allergie à l’ambroisie à feuilles d’armoise et son évolution au cours des dernières années en France et à l’étranger en fonction notamment du niveau d’exposition au pollen et du niveau d’infestation par la plante.•Identifier les éventuels mécanismes et facteurs associés à l’évolution différenciée de cette prévalence. Il pourra être question des facteurs intrinsèques liés à la plante (propagation sur le territoire) ou des facteurs extrinsèques liés à l’activité humaine et au changement climatique pouvant favoriser la propagation de l’ambroisie.•Estimer la prévalence de l’allergie à l’ambroisie pour l’ensemble du territoire national et son évolution possible sur la base de scénarios d’évolution de l’état d’infestation qui seront proposés. Une distribution par département sera recherchée.•Évaluer le coût de l’allergie à l’ambroisie sur l’ensemble du territoire national et son évolution possible tenant compte des mêmes scénarios d’évolution. Une distribution par département de ces coûts sera recherchée.Les impacts générés par l’ambroisie sont de nature variée. Au regard des objectifs visés, les présents travaux se sont concentrés sur l’impact sanitaire et, in fine, les coûts associés à cet impact. Toutefois, des données pouvant alimenter les réflexions concernant les impacts agro-environnementaux sont citées à titre informatif.

This report presents the information that was provided to participants in the Roundtable discussions for their feedback and discussion, and details the key outcomes of the discussions that took place. First, findings regarding noise and health are presented, followed by a detailed assessment of Balanced Approach noise mitigation initiatives are presented, followed by pertinent round. At the end of each section, key roundtable feedback is provided. The report closes with a summary of core messages and recommendations to ensure wider endorsement of proposed content of the BP Portal (WP5), priorities for future research (WP3), and emerging tools to inform model and scenario building (WP4).

The term prenatal diagnosis comprises a variety of techniques aimed to determine the health and condition of the embryo or foetus. Its main goal is to identify at an early stage of the pregnancy, if possible, malformations or other conditions that could increase the risk of a negative outcome in the pregnancy. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of prenatal diagnosis in Portugal in pregnancies with congenital anomalies. A cross sectional study was implemented using data for the years 1997 to 2016 from the Portuguese registry of congenital anomalies (RENAC), a population-based registry that follows EUROCAT guidelines. Analysis was restricted to malformations that are potentially detectable by prenatal diagnosis. The effect of prenatal diagnosis on outcome (death vs live birth) was estimated using a regression model. Main results indicate that prenatal diagnosis was performed in 56.1% (n = 7605) of all registered cases. At least one malformation was detected for the first time through ultrasound (47.4%), invasive tests (5.6%) and other tests (2.2%). When analysed severe CA, 54.2% was detectible by prenatal ultrasound distributed as follows: 17.4% were diagnosed before 14 weeks of gestation, 47.6% between 14 and 23 weeks and 35.0% with 24 or more weeks of gestation. TOPFA was the option for 21.3% of these CA. Over the 20 years of analysis, there was a statistically significant increase trend in the detection rate of congenital anomalies through prenatal diagnosis compared to detection at birth or after birth (p
