Stratascan were commissioned by Wessex Archaeology to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for the widening of the A3 highway. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation undertaken by Wessex Archaeology. A detailed gradiometry survey was carried out along seven separate survey areas either side of the A3 in Hindhead, Surrey. Evidence for possible archaeological activity has been identified throughout the survey areas in the form of linear and discrete cut features. A number of positive linear anomalies may represent cut features or ground disturbance of archaeological origin. The majority of these anomalies are faint and disjointed and constitute weak evidence of archaeological activity. Discrete positive and area responses have also been identified, indicating additional cut features, although a number of these anomalies may be pedolgical in origin.

Stratascan were commissioned by Thames Valley Archaeological Services to undertake a geophysical survey of an area proposed for quarry extension. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation currently being carried out by TVAS. A detailed gradiometer survey was carried out over approximately 10 ha of pasture, at the proposed extension of Rickneys Quarry. Weak evidence for possible cut features of an archaeological origin has been identified in the north of the survey area. Large areas of magnetic variation dominate the southern and central parts of the survey area these are likely to be caused by geological or pedological processes.

Stratascan were commissioned by AC Archaeology to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for the replacement of a water main. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation being undertaken by AC Archaeology. A gradiometer and resistivity survey was carried out over an area proposed for the replacement of the Somerset Spine water main. Area 5 has produced the most interesting results both within the gradiometry and resistivity data, revealing possible cut features and structural remains of archaeological origin. Areas 1, 2 and 3 all reveal linear anomalies that may represent cut features of archaeological origin. Areas 3 and 4 have revealed large areas of mottled response that may be of geological/pedological origin, however the abrupt disappearance of this feature within Area 4 possibly suggests the anomaly is manmade. Further intrusive investigation is needed to understand the nature and extend of these anomalies.

Stratascan were commissioned by the University of Bradford to undertake a geophysical survey of seven known archaeological sites across the Great Wold Valley. This survey forms part the Neolithic Archaeology of the Gypsy Race (Great Wold) Valley Project undertaken by the University of Bradford. The sites are located along the Great Wold Valley, within East and North Yorkshire at OS references of SE 880 668 (Duggleby Howe), TA 061 723 (Willy Howe), TA 048 726 (Wold Newton), SE 868 662 (Wharram le Street), TA 075 678 (Denby House), SE 959 689 (Esh's Barrow), TA 099 658 (Woldgate Cursus).

Stratascan were commissioned by Wessex Archaeology to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for proposed development. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation being undertaken by Wessex Archaeology. A resistivity survey was carried out over 1.12ha within the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Kings Langley Priory. Strong evidence for structural remains has been identified in the centre of the southern survey area. A buttress wall can be seen running east to west across the survey, suggesting the presence of further structural remains outside the survey area. Further areas of high resistance have been identified throughout the survey area; these represent possible areas of structural debris and ground disturbance.

Stratascan were commissioned by Wessex Archaeology to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for a large mixed-use proposed development. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation undertaken by Wessex archaeology. A gradiometer survey was carried out over approximately 10ha of agricultural land southwest of Winnersh, Berkshire. The survey was unable to identify the series of cropmarks seen within the area from aerial photography. However, a number of weak positive linear anomalies and a weak rectilinear anomaly may represent cut features of archaeological origin. In view of the identification of crop marks and the designation of the area as 'high archaeological potential', further investigation may be needed to understand the full archaeological potential of the area.

Stratascan were commissioned by Heritage Network to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for a new parish burial ground. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation carried out by Heritage Network. A gradiometer survey was carried out within an area of agricultural land outlined for a new parish burial ground in Ickleford, Hertfordshire. The survey area is dominated by agricultural marks. A small number of positive and a negative linear anomaly have been identified in the centre of the survey that may provide weak evidence of archaeological activity. However these anomalies are somewhat disjointed and may represent an area of general ground disturbance possibly associated with further agricultural activity.

Stratascan were commissioned by Atkins Heritage to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for development. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation undertaken by Atkins Heritage. A gradiometer survey was carried out to the west of Sandy Lane, Duston. The survey has been successful in identifying areas of archaeological activity. Two discrete areas of possible settlement activity have been identified, situated in the north and centre of the survey area. The gradiometer anomalies correspond well with known crop marks of possible archaeological origin. An area of magnetic debris corresponds with a series of rectilinear cropmarks, possibly of modern origin relating to allotments in the south of the survey. Agricultural marks dominate the two southern fields of the survey with additional crop marks identified in the three fields in the north of the survey area.

Stratascan were commissioned by Gifford and Partners to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for development. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation undertaken by Gifford and Partners. A geophysical survey was carried out on redundant farmland to the south of Mill Lane, Brockworth. The survey area was significantly reduced due to the presence of overgrown and dense vegetation. Little to no archaeological features have been identified within the survey area. Ridge and furrow can be seen within Field 3 with further evidence of agricultural marks within Fields 1 and 2. Discrete positive anomalies identified in the south of Field 1 may represent cut features, such as pits, but may also be associated with ground disturbance.

Stratascan were commissioned to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for development including the laying of drainage and electrical services. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation being undertaken by English Heritage. GPR and gradiometer surveys were carried out west of the proposed visitor centre at Kenilworth Castle. The gradiometer survey identified an area of linear magnetic disturbance in line with a series of bollards. A number of linear anomalies typical of services are present in the radar data within the area of magnetic disturbance, but the gradiometry survey was of limited overall success due to the high number of magnetic objects in and around the survey area. Large amplitude complex and discrete anomalies caused by the pathways are seen throughout the data. Anomalies located beneath the path suggest the presence of possible service routes. Few of the observed radar anomalies can be attributed to areas of archaeological activity with confidence. Two areas of complex response situated in the northeast of the survey area may represent areas of archaeological activity but may also be of modern origin as an inspection cover is thought to exist somewhere within the survey area.

Stratascan were commissioned to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for graveyard extension. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation being undertaken by All Saints Church. A GPR survey was carried out within in an area of the graveyard at All Saints Church in Willian, Hertfordshire. A number of possible services and a service trench have been identified along the western edge of the survey area and are possibly associated with two inspection covers (MH) situated to the southwest of the survey. A possible small void has been identified in the south of the survey, close to the church. A series of broad crested anomalies identified across the centre of the survey area may represent the remains of previous burials. Possible structural remains have been identified in the south of the survey area, close to the north doorway of the church.

IN James' view the self has two components, the self as subject, the I-self, or the self as knower; and the self as object, the me-self, or the self as known (James 1968). They are the dynamic and imagistic aspects of the self, respectively. Until recently, as Harter emphasizes in her comprehensive review (Harter 1983), quantitative studies of the self have focused almost exclusively on the self as object. They have explored such aspects of self-concepts as the self as independent, likable, or competent; contrasts between real and ideal images of the self; and developmental changes in self-concepts.
