2. A 1-year randomized trial of calcium acetate versus sevelamer on progression of coronary artery calcification in hemodialysis patients with comparable lipid control: the Calcium Acetate Renagel Evaluation-2 (CARE-2) study.

- Abstract
Background: Previous clinical trials showed that progression of coronary artery calcification (CAC) may be slower in hemodialysis patients treated with sevelamer than those treated with calcium-based phosphate binders. Because sevelamer decreases low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels, we hypothesized that intensive lowering of LDL-C levels with atorvastatin in hemodialysis patients treated with calcium acetate would result in CAC progression rates similar to those in sevelamer-treated patients.Study Design: Randomized, controlled, open-label, noninferiority trial with an upper bound for the noninferiority margin of 1.8.Setting& Participants: 203 prevalent hemodialysis patients at 26 dialysis centers with serum phosphorus levels greater than 5.5 mg/dL, LDL-C levels greater than 80 mg/dL, and baseline CAC scores of 30 to 7,000 units assessed by means of electron-beam computed tomography.Interventions: 103 patients were randomly assigned to calcium acetate, and 100 patients to sevelamer for 12 months to achieve phosphorus levels of 3.5 to 5.5 mg/dL. Atorvastatin was added to achieve serum LDL-C levels less than 70 mg/dL in both groups.Outcomes& Measurements: The primary end point was change in CAC score assessed by means of electron-beam computed tomography.Results: After 12 months, mean serum LDL-C levels decreased to 68.8 +/- 22.0 mg/dL in the calcium-acetate group and 62.4 +/- 23.0 mg/dL in the sevelamer group (P = 0.3). Geometric mean increases in CAC scores were 35% in the calcium-acetate group and 39% in the sevelamer group, with a covariate-adjusted calcium acetate-sevelamer ratio of 0.994 (95% confidence interval, 0.851 to 1.161).Limitations: Treatment assignment was not blinded. The 1.8 a priori margin is large, CAC is a surrogate outcome, duration of treatment was short, and dropout rate was high.Conclusions: With intensive lowering of LDL-C levels for 1 year, hemodialysis patients treated with either calcium acetate or sevelamer experienced similar progression of CAC. 3. The relationship between educational attainment and relapse among alcohol-dependent men and women: a prospective study.

- Abstract
BACKGROUND: We investigated the relationship between educational attainment and drinking outcomes after discharge from inpatient treatment for alcohol dependence. METHODS: Between 1993 and 1996, we consecutively recruited 41 women and 60 men hospitalized for alcohol dependence and followed them up monthly for 1 year. We conducted structured interviews during hospitalization and at monthly intervals after discharge for 1 year. We examined the relationship between educational attainment before treatment and postdischarge drinking outcomes, including time to relapse. RESULTS: After covariate adjustment, educational level was a significant predictor of drinking outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: Lower levels of educational attainment before entry into treatment predicted shorter times to first drink and relapse in both women and men. The association of educational attainment and treatment outcome for alcohol dependence warrants further investigation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

4. History of abuse and drinking outcomes following inpatient alcohol treatment: a prospective study.

- Abstract
Little is known about the impact of sexual or physical abuse history on response to alcohol treatment. This prospective study investigated the relationships between sexual and physical abuse histories, participants' characteristics, and response to inpatient alcohol treatment. Forty-one women and 59 men were assessed monthly for 1 year following hospitalization for alcohol dependence. Survival analyses showed that sexual abuse history was associated with shorter times to first drink and relapse. Physical abuse history was not associated with poorer drinking outcomes. Although women were more likely than men to have a history of sexual abuse, no gender differences were found in drinking outcomes. Poorer drinking outcomes were found among participants who at baseline were not married, had less than a college education, were not employed full time, or carried a diagnosis of depression or other psychiatric disorder. When adjusted for these characteristics, the associations between sexual abuse history and times to first drink and relapse were no longer statistically significant. While sexual abuse history is a clinically meaningful predictor of return to drinking we note the importance of considering patients' background and clinical characteristics in examining the impact of sexual abuse history on drinking outcomes following treatment. 5. Generation of cytotoxic aptamers specifically targeting fibroblast-like synoviocytes by CSCT-SELEX for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

- Abstract
Objectives: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease characterised by aggressive fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs). Very few RA patients-derived FLSs (RA-FLSs)-specific surface signatures have been identified, and there is currently no approved targeted therapy for RA-FLSs. This study aimed to screen therapeutic aptamers with cell-targeting and cytotoxic properties against RA-FLSs and to uncover the molecular targets and mechanism of action of the screened aptamers., Methods: We developed a cell-specific and cytotoxic systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (CSCT-SELEX) method to screen the therapeutic aptamers without prior knowledge of the surface signatures of RA-FLSs. The molecular targets and mechanisms of action of the screened aptamers were determined by pull-down assays and RNA sequencing. The therapeutic efficacy of the screened aptamers was examined in arthritic mouse models., Results: We obtained an aptamer SAPT8 that selectively recognised and killed RA-FLSs. The molecular target of SAPT8 was nucleolin (NCL), a shuttling protein overexpressed on the surface and involved in the tumor-like transformation of RA-FLSs. Mechanistically, SAPT8 interacted with the surface NCL and was internalised to achieve lysosomal degradation of NCL, leading to the upregulation of proapoptotic p53 and downregulation of antiapoptotic B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) in RA-FLSs. When administrated systemically to arthritic mice, SAPT8 accumulated in the inflamed FLSs of joints. SAPT8 monotherapy or its combination with tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-targeted biologics was shown to relieve arthritis in mouse models., Conclusions: CSCT-SELEX could be a promising strategy for developing cell-targeting and cytotoxic aptamers. 6. Anxiety symptoms and risk factors in patients with SARS-cov-2 omicron variant in shanghai, China.

- Abstract
Objectives: The psychological effects of the COVID-19 pandemic may include anxiety. However, the association between demographic and physiological factors in COVID-19 associated anxiety symptoms is poorly understood. Therefore, the present cross-sectional study was conducted to examine anxiety symptoms and associated factors among patients with the SARS-CoV-2 omicron variant during quarantine in Shanghai., Methods: The study was conducted between April 16, 2022, and May 21, 2022, at Fangcang Shelter Hospital in Shanghai, China. Data were collected using an anonymous online questionnaire. Demographic characteristics, respiratory symptoms, vaccine dose, comorbidities (such as hypertension and diabetes), type of work, and mental health symptoms were evaluated. Logistic regression was used to investigate the relationship between anxiety symptoms and risk factors. Stratification analysis was performed to investigate potential interactions., Results: A total of 2132 patients with confirmed omicron variant SARS-CoV-2 infection were enrolled. The results showed that sex, age, type of work, respiratory symptoms, and comorbidities were positively associated with anxiety symptoms. Female gender (OR = 1.47, 95% CI = 1.11-1.94), nonmanual labor (OR = 1.62, 95% CI = 1.25-2.09), respiratory symptoms (OR = 3.19, 95% CI = 2.30-4.43), and other comorbidities (OR = 1.65, 95% = 1.09-2.50)were positively associated with anxiety symptoms. A significant interaction was observed between gender and nonmanual labor (OR = 1.54, 95% = 1.29-1.85), respiratory symptoms (OR = 2.06, 95% = 1.72-2.48), and comorbidities (OR = 1.57, 95% = 1.16-2.12), such that effects were stronger in women compared to men. There were also significant interactions between age group and nonmanual labor and respiratory symptoms in their association with anxiety symptoms., Conclusions: Alleviation of respiratory symptoms, addressing comorbidities, and both psychological and psychopharmacological treatments may help reduce anxiety symptoms following infection with the SARS-CoV-2 omicron variant in mainland China., Competing Interests: Declaration of conflicting interestsThe author(s) declared no potential conflicts of interest with respect to the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.

7. Stable and wavelength-tunable multiwavelength laser for high-rate measurement device independent quantum key distribution.

- Abstract
Measurement device independent quantum key distribution (MDI QKD) has attracted growing attention for its immunity to attacks at the measurement unit, but its unique structure limits the secret key rate. Utilizing the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technique and reducing error rates are effective strategies for enhancing the secret key rate. Reducing error rates often requires active feedback control of wavelengths using precise external references. However, for a multiwavelength laser, employing multiple references to stabilize each wavelength output places stringent demands on these references and significantly increases system complexity. Here, we demonstrate a stable, wavelength-tunable multiwavelength laser with an output wavelength ranging from 1270 to 1610 nm. Through precise temperature control and stable drive current, we passively lock the laser wavelength, achieving remarkable wavelength stability. This significantly reduce the error rate, leading to an almost doubling of the secret key rate compared to previous experiments. Furthermore, the exceptional wavelength stability offered by our multiwavelength laser, combined with the WDM technique, has further boosted the secret key rate of MDI QKD. With a wide wavelength tuning range of 5.1 nm, our multiwavelength laser facilitates flexible operation across multiple dense wavelength division multiplexing channels. Coupled with high wavelength stability and multiple wavelength outputs simultaneously, this laser offers a promising solution for a high-rate MDI QKD system., (© 2024 Author(s). - Abstract
A growing number of studies have demonstrated that repeated exposure to sevoflurane during development results in persistent social abnormalities and cognitive impairment. Davunetide, an active fragment of the activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP), has been implicated in social and cognitive protection. However, the potential of davunetide to attenuate social deficits following sevoflurane exposure and the underlying developmental mechanisms remain poorly understood. In this study, ribosome and proteome profiles were analyzed to investigate the molecular basis of sevoflurane-induced social deficits in neonatal mice. The neuropathological basis was also explored using Golgi staining, morphological analysis, western blotting, electrophysiological analysis, and behavioral analysis. Results indicated that ADNP was significantly down-regulated following developmental exposure to sevoflurane. In adulthood, anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) neurons exposed to sevoflurane exhibited a decrease in dendrite number, total dendrite length, and spine density. Furthermore, the expression levels of Homer, PSD95, synaptophysin, and vglut2 were significantly reduced in the sevoflurane group. Patch-clamp recordings indicated reductions in both the frequency and amplitude of miniature excitatory postsynaptic currents (mEPSCs). Notably, davunetide significantly ameliorated the synaptic defects, social behavior deficits, and cognitive impairments induced by sevoflurane. Mechanistic analysis revealed that loss of ADNP led to dysregulation of Ca
2+ activity via the Wnt/β-catenin signaling, resulting in decreased expression of synaptic proteins. Suppression of Wnt signaling was restored in the davunetide-treated group. Thus, ADNP was identified as a promising therapeutic target for the prevention and treatment of neurodevelopmental toxicity caused by general anesthetics. This study provides important insights into the mechanisms underlying social and cognitive disturbances caused by sevoflurane exposure in neonatal mice and elucidates the regulatory pathways involved.- Published

In this work, a novel zirconium phosphonate (ZrPR
1 R2 ) was prepared by decorating both the aminoethoxy- group (R1 ) and the carboxypropyl- group (R2 ) on the zirconium phosphate layers in order to manipulate further the immobilization of the peroxidase (POD), and an antioxidant biosensor with higher sensitivity was constructed by dropping the POD/ZrPR1 R2 composite onto the glassy carbon electrode surface. The activity of the POD/ZrPR1 R2 composite was detected by Uv-vis spectra. The direct electrochemical behavior, the electrocatalytic response to dissolved oxygen and hydrogen peroxide, as well as the ability to detect total antioxidant capacity in tea sample were investigated by the methods of cyclic voltammetry. The results indicated that the immobilization of POD in ZrPR1 R2 nanosheets matrix enhanced the enzymatic activity, and achieved the fast and direct electron transfer between POD and glassy carbon electrode. Moreover, the POD/ZrPR1 R2 composite modified electrode show the electrocatalytic response to hydrogen peroxide in the linear range of 8.8×10-8 to 8.8×10-7 mol L-1 , with the detection limit of 3.3×10-8 mol L-1 . Attributing to the sensitive response to dissolved oxygen, the total antioxidant capacity can be detected directly in the real tea water by this POD/ZrPR1 R2 composite modified electrode., (© 2024. 10. Coarse particles compensate for missing daytime sources of nitrous acid and enhance atmospheric oxidation capacity in a coastal atmosphere.

Large missing sources of daytime atmospheric nitrous acid (HONO), a vital source of hydroxyl radicals (OH) through its photolysis, frequently exist in global coastal regions. In this study, ambient HONO and relevant species were measured at a coastal site in the Pearl River Delta (PRD), China, during October 2019. Relatively high concentrations (0.32 ± 0.19 ppbv) and daytime peaks at approximately 13:00 of HONO were observed, and HONO photolysis was found to be the dominant (55.5 %) source of the primary OH production. A budget analysis of HONO based on traditional sources suggested large unknown sources during the daytime (66.4 %), which had a significant correlation with the mass of coarse particles (PM
2.5-10 ) and photolysis frequency (J(NO2 )). When incorporating photolysis of the abundant nitrate measured in coarse particles with a reasonable enhancement factor relative to fine particles due to favorable aerosol conditions, the missing daytime sources of HONO could be fully compensated by coarse particles serving as the largest source at this coastal site. This study shows that OsSPL10 is a novel genetic locus of glufosinate resistance in rice. OsSPL10 negatively regulates the expression of OsGS genes and thereby decreases GS activity. 12. Ultra-wideband solid-state biased coherent detector for multi-angle detection of THz pulses.

- Abstract
In recent years, significant progress has been made in the fields of nonlinear and ultrafast optics, offering exciting opportunities for terahertz (THz) science and technology. In this study, we present a novel design of a SSBCD (Solid-State-Biased Coherent Detection) device for the coherent detection of ultra-broadband THz pulses. By increasing the number of cross-fingers, we have effectively enhanced the sensitivity of the SSBCD device. The design of stepped and circular structures has successfully expanded the detectable electric field directions while reducing the dependence on the incident field direction. As a result, we have achieved ultra-broadband detection with a high dynamic range and a wide detection angle. These research findings lay a critical foundation for the integration of solid-state ultra-broadband detection into compact and miniaturized terahertz systems.

13. Liraglutide Suppresses Myocardial Fibrosis Progression by Inhibiting the Smad Signaling Pathway.

- Abstract
Objective: Liraglutide is a commonly used hypoglycemic agent in clinical practice, and has been demonstrated to have protective effects against the development of cardiovascular disease. However, its potential role in myocardial fibrosis remains unexplored. The present study aims to assess the impact of liraglutide on the activation of cardiac fibroblasts., Methods: Primary rat adult fibroblasts were isolated, cultured, and randomly allocated into 4 groups: control group, transforming growth factor beta1 (TGFβ1) stimulation group, liraglutide group, and TGFβ1+liraglutide group. Fibroblast activation was induced by TGFβ1. Cell proliferation activity was assessed using the CKK-8 kit, and cellular activity was determined using the MTT kit. Reverse transcrition-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was utilized to quantify the level of collagen transcription, immunofluorescence staining was performed to detect the expression level of type III collagen and α-smooth muscle protein (α-SMA), and immunoblotting was conducted to monitor alterations in signal pathways., Results: The addition of 10, 25, 50 and 100 nmol/L of liraglutide did not induce any significant impact on the viability of fibroblasts (P>0.05). The rate of cellular proliferation was significantly higher in the TGFβl stimulation group than in the control group. However, the treatment with 50 and 100 nmol/L of liraglutide resulted in the reduction of TGFβl-induced cell proliferation (P<0.05). The RT-qPCR results revealed that the transcription levels of type I collagen, type III collagen, and α-SMA were significantly upregulated in the TGFβl stimulation group, when compared to the control group (P<0.05). However, the expression levels of these aforementioned factors significantly decreased in the TGFβl+liraglutide group (P<0.05). The immunofluorescence staining results revealed a significant increase in the expression levels of type III collagen and α-SMA in the TGFβl stimulation group, when compared to the control group (P<0.05). However, these expression levels significantly decreased in the TGFβl+liraglutide group, when compared to the TGFβl stimulation group (P<0.05). The Western blotting results revealed that the expression levels of phosphorylated smad2 and smad3 significantly increased in the TGFβl stimulation group, when compared to the control group (P<0.05), while these decreased in the TGFβl+liraglutide group (P<0.05)., Conclusion: Liraglutide inhibits myocardial fibrosis development by suppressing the smad signaling pathway, reducing the activation and secretion of cardiac fibroblasts., (© 2023. 14. Experimental Demonstration of Fully Passive Quantum Key Distribution.

The passive approach to quantum key distribution (QKD) consists of removing all active modulation from the users' devices, a highly desirable countermeasure to get rid of modulator side channels. Nevertheless, active modulation has not been completely removed in QKD systems so far, due to both theoretical and practical limitations. In this Letter, we present a fully passive time-bin encoding QKD system and report on the successful implementation of a modulator-free QKD link. According to the latest theoretical analysis, our prototype is capable of delivering competitive secret key rates in the finite key regime.

- Abstract
A Gram-stain negative, strictly aerobic, and rod-shaped bacterium, designated as strain L182
T , was isolated from coastal sediment in Beihai, Guangxi Province, PR China. Colonies of strain L182T were yellow, 2 mm in diameter, round, opaque, smooth and convex after incubation on marine ager at 30 °C for 3 days. Cells were catalase-positive but oxidase-negative. Growth of strain L182T was observed at 4-40 °C (optimum, 25 °C), pH 5.5-10.0 (optimum, pH 5.5-8.0) and with 0-6% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0.5-4.0%). The G + C content based on the genome sequence was 36.0%. The only respiratory quinone was MK-6. The main polar lipids included phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, one unidentified aminophospholipid, one unidentified glycolipids, four unidentified aminolipids and six unidentified lipids. The major fatty acids (> 10%) were iso-C15:0 , iso-C15:1 G and iso-C17:0 3-OH. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity between strain L182T and Aestuariibaculum suncheonense SC17T was 98.2%, and the similarities with other type strains of the genus Aestuariibaculum were 96.1-97.2%. 17. The landscape of investigator-initiated oncology trials conducted in mainland China during the past decade (2010-2019).

- Abstract
The number of clinical trials conducted in mainland China, including investigator-initiated trials (IITs), has increased rapidly in recent years. However, there are few data on the characteristics of cancer-related IITs. We performed a comprehensive analysis of the landscape of cancer-related IITs in mainland China in the past decade. All cancer-related IITs registered on two clinical trial registries in the United States (www.clinicaltrials.gov, CT.gov) and mainland China (www.chictr.org.cn, ChiCTR) from 2010 to 2019 were identified. IITs were reviewed manually to validate classification, subcategorized by cancer type, and stratified by design characteristics to facilitate comparison across cancer types and with other specialties. A total of 8199 cancer-related IITs were identified. The number of trials registered annually increased over time, especially in the last 5 years. Although interventional studies were predominant, randomized double-blind studies accounted for only 8% of IITs. In the past decade, the trend for interventional studies conducted with different drugs increased year on year, although the increase in hormonal therapy IITs was not significant. Additionally, cancer-related IITs were unevenly geographically distributed, with half concentrated in the economically developed cities Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangdong. We also found an increase in registration before participant enrollment (64.9% for trials in conducted in 2015-2019 vs. 40.2% in 2010-2014, p < 0.001) and data monitoring committee use (44.5% vs. 40.0%, p = 0.001) and a decrease in randomization (51.5% vs. 62.7%, p < 0.001) and funding (36.4% vs. 56.3%, p < 0.001) between these periods. We also observed changes in intervention type (decrease in cytotoxic drug therapy [34.8% vs. 48.9%, p < 0.001]; increase in targeted therapy [17.8% vs. 14.2%, p = 0.004], immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy [6.6% vs. 0.0%, p < 0.001], and immune cell therapy [9.6% vs. 4.5%, p < 0.001]). Details of cancer-related IITs conducted during the past decade illustrate the merits of oncology research in mainland China. Rheumatoid arthritis(RA) is an autoimmune disease that seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients, but its pathogenesis is still unclear. At present, clinical treatment drugs include conventional synthetic disease modifing anti-rheumatic drugs(csDMARDs), nonsteroid anti-inflammtory drugs(NSAIDs), hormones, small molecule targeted drugs, biological agents, etc. These drugs can relieve the clinical symptoms of most patients with RA to a certain extent, but there are still many limitations, such as drug adverse reactions and individual differences in drug efficacy. Therefore, the research on drug treatment targets and the development of low-toxicity drugs helps further improve the precise prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of RA. There is an urgent need for efficient and low-toxic treatments to delay the clinical progress of RA. As a treasure of Chinese culture, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) is widely used as an alternative therapy in the treatment of various diseases, and has a significant clinical efficacy. TCM therapy(including monomer traditional Chinese medicine, classical compounds, and non-drug therapies) has a significant curative effect on RA. Based on the literature research in recent years, this paper reviewed the clinical and mechanism research of TCM therapy in the treatment of RA, and provided more in-depth thinking for the wide application of TCM therapy in clinical practice.

19. Transmittance-invariant phase modulator for chip-based quantum key distribution.

In chip-based quantum key distribution (QKD) systems, the non-ideal quantum state preparation due to the imperfect electro-optic phase modulators (EOPM) decreases the secret key rate and introduces potential vulnerabilities. We propose and implement an on-chip transmittance-invariant phase modulator (TIPM) to solve this problem. Simulated and experimental results show that TIPM can eliminate the correlation between phase, intensity, and polarization of quantum states caused by phase-dependent loss. The design can tolerate a significant fabrication mismatch and is universal to multi-material platforms. Furthermore, TIPM increases the modulation depth achievable by EOPMs in standard process design kit (PDK). The proposal of TIPM can improve the practical security and performance of the chip-based QKD systems.

Background: Chinese medicine (CM) has become a popular interventional treatment for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, limited knowledge about general characteristics and long-term clinical outcomes hampers the development of CM for RA., Purpose: The main objectives of the China Rheumatoid Arthritis Registry of Patients with Chinese Medicine (CERTAIN) were to describe the population of RA patients receiving CM treatment in multiple centers in China using different variables and compare these findings with internationally reported data., Study Design: The CERTAIN is a prospective, multicenter, observational disease registry., Methods: Adult RA patients who fulfilled the 2010 American College of Rheumatology/ European League Against Rheumatism classification criteria for RA and received CM treatment were recruited into the CERTAIN by rheumatologists from 145 hospitals across 30 provinces in China. Data on demographics, disease characteristics, comorbidities, treatments, and adverse events, with a 2-year follow-up, were collected and documented using a predefined protocol., Results: In the 2 years since the study began in September 2019, 11,764 patients have been enrolled (enrolment is ongoing), and 13.10% of participants have completed the 6-month follow-up. We present the baseline characteristics of the first 11,764 enrollees., Conclusions: The CERTAIN is the first nationwide registry to document comprehensive data on CM treatment in patients with RA. 21. Afterpulse effect in measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution.

- Abstract
There is no doubt that measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (MDI-QKD) is a crucial protocol that is immune to all possible detector side channel attacks. In the preparation phase, a simulation model is usually employed to get a set of optimized parameters, which is utilized for getting a higher secure key rate in reality. With the implementation of high-speed QKD, the afterpulse effect which is an intrinsic characteristic of the single-photon avalanche photodiode is no longer ignorable, this will lead to a great deviation compared with the existing analytical model. Here we develop an afterpulse-compatible MDI-QKD model to get the optimized parameters. Our results indicate that by using our afterpulse-compatible model, we can get a much higher key rate than the prior afterpulse-omitted model. It is significant to take the afterpulse effect into consideration because of the improvement of the system working frequency.

22. Imperfection-insensitivity quantum random number generator with untrusted daily illumination.

- Abstract
Quantum random number generators (QRNGs) promise secure randomness generation based on the foundational unpredictability of quantum mechanics. However, the unavoidable gaps between theoretical models and practical devices could lead to security invalidation. Recently, a source-independent quantum random number generator (SI-QRNG) has been proposed to solve the issue of uncharacteristic sources. However, in most current analyses of SI-QRNG protocols, the security proofs with imperfect measurements are individual for different factors and very sensitive to small deviations from theoretical models. Here, we establish a unified model for imperfect measurements in the SI-QRNG and provide a tight rate bound based on the uncertainty relation for smooth entropies. Then the performance with large device imperfections is evaluated and the randomness rate in our model can approach a similar order of magnitude of the rate upper bound in common discrete variable QRNGs. In addition, by utilizing the daily illumination and measurement devices with large imperfections, we experimentally demonstrate our scheme at the rate of the order of magnitude of Mbps.

23. Integration in the C-band between quantum key distribution and the classical channel of 25 dBm launch power over multicore fiber media.

- Abstract
The quantum-classical coexistence can be implemented based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), but due to Raman noise, the wavelength spacing between quantum and classical signals and launch power from classical channels are restricted. Space division multiplexing (SDM) can now be availably achieved by multicore fiber (MCF) to reduce Raman noise, thereby loosening the restriction for coexistence in the same band and obtaining a high communication capacity. In this paper, we realize the quantum-classical coexistence over a 7-core MCF. Based on the SDM, the highest launch power of 25 dBm is achieved which has been extended nearly 19 times in previous work. Moreover, both the quantum and classical channels are allocated in the C-band and the minimum wavelength spacing between them is only 1.6 nm. The coexistence system eliminates the need for adding a narrowband filter.

24. Assessment of four screening tools and retrieval of key questions to detect undiagnosed psoriatic arthritis in Chinese patients with psoriasis: A multicenter study.

Several screening tools have been developed to facilitate early diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis (PsA); however, their performance varied greatly across different studies. In this study, we validated and compared the performance of four screening tools in detecting undiagnosed PsA Chinese patients with psoriasis, and determined the key questions and their weights. The four screening tools were the Early Arthritis for Psoriatic Patients (EARP) questionnaire, Psoriatic Arthritis Screening and Evaluation (PASE) questionnaire, Psoriasis and Arthritis Screening Questionnaire (PASQ), and Psoriasis Epidemiology Screening Tool (PEST). The receiver-operator curve (ROC) with area under curve (AUC) was used to determine sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator and logistic regression were utilized to retrieve key questions, and a nomogram was utilized to visualize their weights. Of 482 psoriasis patients from dermatology clinics, 77 were newly diagnosed with PsA. Another 68 patients with newly diagnosed PsA from rheumatology clinics were incorporated in the analysis. ROC analysis indicated that the optimal cut-off values for EARP, PASE, PASQ, and PEST were 3, 40, 7, and 3, with corresponding sensitivities of 91.4%, 88.6%, 86.2%, and 88.5%, and specificities of 88.6%, 75.2%, 80.2%, and 83.6%, respectively. The AUC of EARP (0.925) was higher than those of PASE (0.885), PASQ (0.905), and PEST (0.827). However, none of them were sufficiently sensitive to identify pure axial PsA (sensitivities of EARP, PASQ, and PASE were 25.0%, 36.8%, and 42.1%, respectively). Twelve key questions were retrieved from these four tools to establish a nomogram with a high discrimination (C-index = 0.993) and a good calibration (mean absolute error = 0.014). In conclusion, to screen undiagnosed PsA, EARP has slightly better balanced sensitivity and specificity, and higher accuracy. 25. The Impact of Traditional Chinese Medicine QingreHuoxue Treatment and the Combination of Methotrexate and Hydroxychloroquine on the Radiological Progression of Active Rheumatoid Arthritis: A 52-Week Follow-Up of a Randomized Controlled Clinical Study.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been used successfully to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA). QingreHuoxue treatment (QingreHuoxue decoction [QRHXD]/QingreHuoxue external preparation [QRHXEP]) is a Chinese medicine treatment for RA. To date, very few studies have compared the long-term effects of QRHXD with those of conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs on RA disease activity and radiological progression. QRHXD delayed the radiological progression and showed long-term clinical efficacy of RA. In clinical experiments, the clinical evidence of delaying the radiological progression of RA patients was obtained. A portion of the patients who participated in the "Traditional Chinese Medicine QingreHuoxue Treatment vs. the Combination of Methotrexate and Hydroxychloroquine for Active Rheumatoid Arthritis" study were followed up for 52 weeks, and intention-to-treat (ITT) and compliance protocol (PP) analyses were used to collect and compare the clinical indicators and imaging data between baseline and week 52. Two radiologists who were blind to treatment scored the images independently. Of the 468 subjects, 141 completed the 52-week follow-up. There were no significant differences among the three groups: the traditional Chinese medicine comprehensive treatment group, the Western medicine treatment group, and the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment group. There were no differences in the total Sharp score, joint space stenosis score, and joint erosion score at baseline or 52 weeks. In the comparison of the estimated annual radiographic progression (EARP) and the actual annual Sharp total score changes among the three groups, the actual changes were much lower than the EARP at baseline. The radiological progress in all three groups was well controlled. Results of the ITT and PP data sets showed that the disease activity score 28 level of the three groups at 52 weeks was significantly lower than that at baseline. The role of coarse particles has recently been proven to be underestimated in the atmosphere and can strongly influence clouds, ecosystems and climate. However, previous studies on atmospheric chemistry of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have mostly focused on the products in fine particles, it remains less understood how coarse particles promote secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation. In this study, we investigated water-soluble compounds of size-segregated aerosol samples (0.056 to >18 μm) collected at a coastal rural site in southern China during late summer and found that oxygenated organic matter was abundant in the coarse mode. Comprehensive source apportionment based on mass spectrum and
14 C analysis indicated that different from fossil fuel SOA, biogenic SOA existed more in the coarse mode than in the fine mode. The SOA in the coarse mode showed a unique correlation with biogenic VOCs.13 C and elemental composition strongly suggested a pathway of heterogeneous reactions on coarse particles, which had an abundant low-acidic aqueous environment with soil dust to possibly initiate iron-catalytic oxidation reactions to form SOA. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese patent medicines in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis(AS) by frequency network Meta-analysis. Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of Chinese patent medicines for AS were retrieved from CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, CBM, PubMed, EMbase and Cochrane Library databases from the time of database establishment to January 2021. The quality of the included RCTs was evaluated according to the Cochrane bias risk standard, and the data was analyzed by RevMan 5.3 and Stata/MP 15.1. A total of 12 kinds of Chinese patent medicines in 55 RCTs were included. According to Meta-analysis, in term of the effectiveness, the top three optimal medication regimens were Biqi Capsules, Yishen Juanbi Pills and Yaobitong Capsules combined with western medicine. The top three interventions to reduce the erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)were Yishen Juanbi Pills, Xianling Gubao Capsules and Fufang Xuanju Capsules combined with western medicine. The top three interventions to reduce the C-reactive protein(CRP)were Biqi Capsules, Xianling Gubao Capsules and Fufang Xuanju Capsules combined with western medicine. In terms of the safety, top three optimal medication regimens were Total Glucosides of Paeony Capsules, Yishen Juanbi Pills, and Wangbi Tablets combined with western medicine. This network Meta-analysis suggests that Chinese patent medicines combined with conventional western medicine can effectively improve the joint pain symptoms of AS patients and reduce the acute inflammatory indicators, with high safety. However, the literature included in this study is generally of low methodological quality, and the conclusion needs to be verified by high-quality research.

28. Transverse Mode-Encoded Quantum Gate on a Silicon Photonic Chip.

As an important degree of freedom (d.o.f.) in photonic integrated circuits, the orthogonal transverse mode provides a promising and flexible way to increase communication capability, for both classical and quantum information processing. To construct large-scale on-chip multimode multi-d.o.f.s quantum systems, a transverse mode-encoded controlled-NOT (CNOT) gate is necessary. Here, with the help of our new transverse mode-dependent directional coupler and attenuator, we demonstrate the first multimode implementation of a 2-qubit quantum gate. The ability of the gate is demonstrated by entangling two separated transverse mode qubits with an average fidelity of 0.89±0.02 and the achievement of 10 standard deviations of violations in the quantum nonlocality verification. In addition, a fidelity of 0.82±0.01 is obtained from quantum process tomography used to completely characterize the CNOT gate. Our work paves the way for universal transverse mode-encoded quantum operations and large-scale multimode multi-d.o.f.s quantum systems.

29. Quantum key distribution integrating with ultra-high-power classical optical communications based on ultra-low-loss fiber.

The demand for the integration of quantum key distribution (QKD) and classical optical communication in the same optical fiber medium greatly increases as fiber resources and the flexibility of practical applications are taken into consideration. To satisfy the needs of the mass deployment of ultra-high power required for classical optical networks integrating QKD, we implement the discrete variable quantum key distribution (DV-QKD) under up to 25 dBm launch power from classical channels over 75 km on an ultra-low-loss (ULL) fiber by combining a finite-key security analysis method with the noise model of classical signals. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest power launched by classical signals on the coexistence of DV-QKD and classical communication. The results exhibit the feasibility and tolerance of our QKD system for use in ultra-high-power classical communications.

Background: Takayasu arteritis (TAK) is a rare large vessel vasculitis, and epidemiological data on TAK are lacking in China. Thus, we designed this study to estimate the TAK prevalence and incidence in residential Shanghai, China., Methods: Data on diagnosed TAK cases aged over 16 years were retrieved from 22 tertiary hospitals in Shanghai through hospital electronic medical record systems between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2017 to estimate the prevalence and incidence. A systematic literature review based on searches in PubMed, Ovid-Medline, Excerpta Medica Database (EMBASE), Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) was performed to summarize TAK distribution across the world., Results: In total 102 TAK patients, with 64% female, were identified. The point prevalence (2015-2017) was 7.01 (95% CI 5.65-8.37) cases per million, and the mean annual incidence was 2.33 (1.97-3.21) cases per million. The average age of TAK patients was 44 ± 16 years, with the highest prevalence (11.59 [9.23-19.50] cases per million) and incidence (3.55 [0.72 3.74] cases per million) in the 16 to 34 years population. Seventeen reports were included in the system review, showing that the epidemiology of TAK varied greatly across the world. 31. Compact quantum random number generation using a linear optocoupler.

- Abstract
To date, various quantum random number schemes have been demonstrated. However, the cost, size, and final random bit generation rate usually limits their wide application on-shelf. To overcome these limitations, we propose and demonstrate a compact, simple, and low-cost quantum random number generation based on a linear optocoupler. Its integrated structure consists mainly of a light emitting diode and a photodetector. Random bits are generated by directly measuring the intensity noise of the output light, which originates from the random recombination between holes of the p region and electrons of the n region in a light emitting diode. Moreover, our system is robust against fluctuation of the operating environment, and can be extended to a parallel structure, which will be of great significance for the practical and commercial application of quantum random number generation. After post-processing by the SHA-256 algorithm, a random number generation rate of 43 Mbps is obtained. Finally, the final random bit sequences have low autocorrelation coefficients with a standard deviation of 3.16×10

32. Coexistence of quantum key distribution and optical transport network based on standard single-mode fiber at high launch power.

- Abstract
There is an increasing demand for multiplexing of quantum key distribution with optical communications in single fiber in consideration of high costs and practical applications in the metropolitan optical network. Here, we realize the integration of quantum key distribution and an optical transport network of 80 Gbps classical data at 15 dBm launch power over 50 km of the widely used standard (G.652 Recommendation of the International Telecom Union Telecom Standardization Sector) telecom fiber. A secure key rate of 11 Kbps over 20 km is obtained. By tolerating a high classical optical power up to 18 dBm of 160 Gbps classical data on single-mode fiber, our result shows the potential and tolerance of quantum key distribution being used in future large capacity transmission systems, such as metropolitan area networks and data centers. The quantum key distribution system is stable, practical, and insensitive to the polarization disturbance of channels by using a phase coding system based on a Faraday-Michelson interferometer. We also discuss the fundamental limit for quantum key distribution performance in the multiplexing environment.

- Abstract
Prostatitis is a common disease in adult males, with characteristics of a poor treatment response and easy recurrence, which seriously affects the patient's quality of life. The prostate is located deep in the pelvic cavity, and thus a traditional infusion or other treatment methods are unable to easily act directly on the prostate, leading to poor therapeutic effects. Therefore, the development of new diagnostic and treatment strategies has become a research hotspot in the field of prostatitis treatment. In recent years, nanomaterials have been widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of various infectious diseases. Nanotechnology is a promising tool for 1) the accurate diagnosis of diseases; 2) improving the targeting of drug delivery systems; 3) intelligent, controlled drug release; and 4) multimode collaborative treatment, which is expected to be applied in the diagnosis and treatment of prostatitis. Nanotechnology is attracting attention in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of prostatitis. However, as a new research area, systematic reviews on the application of nanomaterials in the diagnosis and treatment of prostatitis are still lacking. 34. Traditional Chinese Medicine Qingre Huoxue Treatment vs. the Combination of Methotrexate and Hydroxychloroquine for Active Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Multicenter, Double-Blind, Randomized Controlled Trial.

- Abstract
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been used successfully to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Qingre Huoxue treatment (Qingre Huoxue decoction (QRHXD)/Qingre Huoxue external preparation (QRHXEP)) is a therapeutic scheme of TCM for RA. To date, there have been few studies comparing the efficacy and safety of QRHXD and conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (csDMARDs) for the treatment of active RA. This was investigated in a multicenter, double-blind, randomized controlled trial involving 468 Chinese patients with active RA [disease activity score (DAS)-28 > 3.2] treated with QRHXD/QRHXEP (TCM group), methotrexate plus hydroxychloroquine [Western medicine (WM) group], or both [integrative medicine (IM) group]. Patients were followed up for 24 weeks. The primary outcome measure was the change in DAS-28 from baseline to 24 weeks. The secondary outcome measures were treatment response rate according to American College of Rheumatology 20, 50, and 70% improvement criteria (ACR-20/50/70) and the rate of treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs). The trial was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT02551575). DAS-28 decreased in all three groups after treatment ( p < 0.0001); the score was lowest in the TCM group ( p < 0.05), while no difference was observed between the WM and IM groups ( p > 0.05). At week 24, ACR-20 response was 73.04% with TCM, 80.17% with WM, and 73.95% with IM (based on the full analysis set [FAS], p > 0.05); ACR-50 responses were 40.87, 47.93, and 51.26%, respectively, (FAS, p > 0.05); and ACR-70 responses were 20.87, 22.31, and 25.21%, respectively, (FAS, p > 0.05). Thus, treatment efficacy was similar across groups based on ACR criteria. On the other hand, the rate of TRAEs was significantly lower in the TCM group compared to the other groups ( p < 0.05). Thus, QRHXD/QRHXEP was effective in alleviating the symptoms of active RA-albeit to a lesser degree than csDMARDs-with fewer side effects. Importantly, combination with QRHXD enhanced the efficacy of csDMARDs. These results provide evidence that QRHXD can be used as an adjunct to csDMARDs for the management of RA, especially in patients who experience TRAEs with standard drugs. 35. Novel Fe-Based Amorphous Composite Coating with a Unique Interfacial Layer Improving Thermal Barrier Application.

- Abstract
To improve thermal barrier applications in advanced vehicle engines, a novel Fe-based amorphous composite coating was designed by introducing ceramic oxides and was prepared by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). The microstructure and related properties of the as-deposited coating were investigated in detail. The composite coating comprises a well-formed FeCrNbBSi amorphous metallic matrix and dispersed yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) splats. A unique Si-oxide interfacial layer with a thickness of several nanometers and an amorphous structure forms between the metallic matrix and ceramic phase, which is attributed to a combination of multiple effects. The composite coating displays extremely low thermal conductivity from 2.28 W/mK at 100 °C to 3.36 W/mK at 600 °C and can increase the surface temperature of the piston crown by 18.93 °C, which implies a significant means of enhancing the power efficiency. The improved thermal barrier ability of the composite coating is revealed as the crucial effect of the Si-oxide interfacial layer, which induces an increased interfacial thermal resistance. The fracture toughness of the composite coating remains at 3.40 MPa·m
1/2 , comparable to that of the monolithic amorphous coating, 3.74 MPa·m1/2 , which is closely related to the formation of a Si-oxide layer and its nanoscale thickness. Therefore, the Fe-based amorphous composite coating developed here demonstrates great potential as an innovative metal-based thermal barrier coating for application in vehicle engines and provides specific inspiration for future works exploring the interfacial engineering of coating.- Published

Background: Clinical observational studies revealed that 99Tc-methylene diphosphonate (99Tc-MDP) could reduce joint pain and swollenness in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. This multicenter, randomized, double-blind, double-dummy study aimed to evaluate the effects of 99Tc-MDP plus methotrexate (MTX) vs. MTX alone or 99Tc-MDP alone on disease activity and structural damage in MTX-naïve Chinese patients with moderate to severe RA., Methods: Eligible patients with moderate to severely active RA were randomized to receive 99Tc-MDP plus MTX (n = 59) vs. MTX (n = 59) alone or 99Tc-MDP (n = 59) alone for 48 weeks from six study sites across four provinces in China. The primary outcomes were the American College of Rheumatology 20% improvement (ACR20) response rates at week 24 and changes in modified total Sharp score at week 48., Results: At week 24, the proportion of participants achieving ACR20 was significantly higher in the MTX + 99Tc-MDP combination group (69.5%) than that in the MTX group (50.8%) or 99Tc-MDP group (47.5%) (P = 0.03 for MTX + 99Tc-MDP vs. MTX, and MTX + 99Tc-MDP vs.99Tc-MDP, respectively). The participants in the MTX + 99Tc-MDP group and the 99Tc-MDP group had significantly less important radiographic progression than the participants in the MTX group over the 48 weeks (MTX + 99Tc-MDP vs. MTX: P = 0.03, 99Tc-MDP vs. MTX: P = 0.03, respectively). There was no significant difference in terms of adverse events (AEs) among the groups. No serious AEs were observed., Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the combination of 99Tc-MDP with MTX inhibited structural damage and improved disease activity in RA patients compared with MTX and 99Tc-MDP monotherapies, without increasing the rate of AEs. 37. Three- and 4-Level Lumbar Arthrodesis Using Adjunctive Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Stimulation: A Multicenter Retrospective Evaluation of Fusion Rates and a Review of the Literature.

Background: The incidence of 3- and 4-level lumbar arthrodesis is rising due to an aging population, and fusion rates affect clinical success in this population. Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) stimulation is used as an adjunct to increase fusion rates following multilevel arthrodesis. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the fusion rates for subjects who underwent 3- and 4-level lumbar interbody arthrodesis following PEMF treatment., Methods: In this retrospective, multicenter study, patient charts that listed 3- or 4-level lumbar arthrodesis with adjunctive use of a PEMF device were evaluated. Inclusion criteria included patients who were diagnosed with lumbar degenerative disease, spinal stenosis, and/or spondylolisthesis (grade 1 or 2). A radiographic evaluation of fusion status was performed at 12 months by the treating physicians. Fusion rates were stratified by graft material, surgical interbody approach, and certain clinical risk factors for pseudoarthrosis., Results: A total of 55 patients were identified who had a 12-month follow-up. The radiographic fusion rate was 92.7% (51 patients) at 12 months. Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F ( Tw HF) is one of the most commonly used and effective traditional Chinese herbal medicines against rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Both Tripterygium Glycoside Tablets (TGT) and Tripterygium wilfordii Tablets (TWT) are the representative Tw HF-based agents enrolled into the 2019 edition of Medicine Catalog for National Basic Medical Insurance, Injury Insurance, and Maternity Insurance. However, individual differences in TGT/TWT response across patients usually exist in the process of treating RA, implying that the clinical application of the two agents may not be standardized leading to the ineffective treatment and the risk of side effects. Growing evidence show that the bioactive constituents of Tw HF may often have toxicity, the package insert of TGT and TWT may not be described in detail, and the therapeutic windows of the two agents are narrow. Thus, it is an urgent task to develop a standardized clinical practice guideline for TGT and TWT in the treatment of RA. In the current study, a group of clinical experts of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine in the research field of rheumatism diseases, pharmacists, and methodologists of evidence-based medicine were invited to select the clinical questions, to determine the levels of the evidence and the strength of the recommendations, and to develop the recommendations and good practice points. The guideline is formed based on the combination of clinical research evidence and expert experience (evidence-based, consensus, supplemented by experience). The clinical problems which are supported by clinical evidence may form recommendations, and the clinical problems without clinical evidence may form experts' suggestions. Introduction: Baricitinib is an oral, selective inhibitor of Janus kinase which demonstrates clinical efficacy in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This report aims to analyze the onset time of baricitinib in Chinese patients with moderately to severely active RA who had an inadequate response to methotrexate., Methods: This post hoc analysis evaluated clinical improvements of Chinese patients treated with baricitinib 4 mg once daily compared with placebo, based on data from a phase 3 study RA-BALANCE. Efficacy measures including American College of Rheumatology 20% (ACR20) response, ACR core set values, Disease Activity Score modified to include the 28 diarthrodial joint count (DAS28) using high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), DAS28-erythrocyte sedimentation rate, Simplified Disease Activity Index, Clinical Disease Activity Index, DAS28-hsCRP ≤ 3.2 response (low disease activity), and Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-F) were evaluated at weeks 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 14, 16, 20, and 24 (except for FACIT-F evaluated every 4 weeks). A logistic regression model and an analysis of covariance model were used to analyze treatment comparisons of categorical and continuous measures, respectively., Results: Statistically significant (p ≤ 0.05) improvements were observed as early as week 1 or 2 for the baricitinib group compared to placebo in almost all main efficacy measures. For other outcomes including 66 swollen joint count, 68 tender joint count, FACIT-F, and DAS28-hsCRP ≤ 3.2 response rate, differences were evident (p ≤ 0.05) by week 4 in the baricitinib group compared with placebo. 40. Efficacy and Safety of Baricitinib in Chinese Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients and the Subgroup Analyses: Results from Study RA-BALANCE.

Introduction: Baricitinib is an oral selective inhibitor of Janus kinase (JAK) 1 and JAK 2, which has demonstrated significant efficacy in patients with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This analysis aims to describe the efficacy and safety of baricitinib in Chinese RA patients with an inadequate response to methotrexate (MTX-IR), and to analyze the effects of baseline characteristics on the efficacy of baricitinib treatment., Methods: In this 52-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 231 Chinese patients with moderately to severely active RA who had MTX-IR were randomly assigned to placebo (n = 115) or baricitinib 4 mg once daily (n = 116). The primary endpoint was American College of Rheumatology 20% (ACR20) response at week 12. Other efficacy measures included ACR50, ACR70, Physician's Global Assessment of Disease Activity, Patient's Global Assessment of Disease Activity, patient's assessment of pain, Disease Activity Score in 28 joints using high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, remission and low disease activity rates according to Simplified Disease Activity Index or Clinical Disease Activity Index, Health Assessment Questionnaire-Disability Index, and mean duration and severity of morning joint stiffness, worst tiredness and worst joint pain were analyzed. Additionally, subgroup analyses were performed across baseline characteristics., Results: Statistically significant improvement in ACR20 response was achieved with baricitinib at week 12 (53.4 vs. 22.6%, p = 0.001) in Chinese patients, compared to placebo. Most of the secondary objectives were met with statistically significant improvements. Efficacy of baricitinib was irrespective of patient demographics and baseline characteristics. Safety events were similar between the baricitinib and placebo groups., Conclusions: The efficacy of baricitinib 4 mg in Chinese patients with moderately to severely active RA and prior MTX-IR was clinically significant compared to placebo regardless of baseline characteristics. 41. Quantum random number generation based on spontaneous Raman scattering in standard single-mode fiber.

- Abstract
We investigate quantum random number generation based on backward spontaneous Raman scattering in standard single-mode fiber, where the randomness of photon wavelength superposition and arrival time is simultaneously utilized. The experiment uses four avalanche photodiodes working in gated Geiger mode to detect backward Raman scattering photons from four different wavelength channels and a time-to-digital converter placed behind the detectors to record their arrival time. Both information of the wavelength and arrival time interval of photons from different channels are applied to generate random bits. Due to the independence of these two entropy sources, the random number resource of the present system is fully utilized. Five-bit raw data can be obtained for every effective click, which contains 2.87-bit min-entropy. To obtain the optimal generation rate of random bits, appropriate pump power and fiber length are adopted. The post-processing method by the SHA-256 hashing algorithm is used to remove the bias of the raw data, after which the final random bit sequences pass the NIST statistical test.

Hyperuricemia/gout is a common metabolic disease in China, which is a serious threat to people's health. In clinical practice, the standardization of prevention and diagnosis and the rate of treat-to-target need to be improved. There is still a lack of education for the patients about the understanding of clinical guidelines, the disease knowledge and the importance of cooperating with doctors to carry out diagnosis and treatment. From the most concerned issues of the patients, we established the hyperuricemia/gout patient practice guideline working group with multidisciplinary physicians and patients. Seventeen opinions, as the hyperuricemia/gout patient practice guidelines, are proposed in accordance with the relevant principles of the "WHO guidelines development manual" , and with the international normative process, aiming to improve the patients compliance, improve the level of health management of the disease.

44. Extracting information from single qubits among multiple observers with optimal weak measurements.

- Abstract
In the context of quantum information, major efforts have been made to maximize the mutual information by measuring single copies of signal states. In general, one execution of optimal projective measurement extracts all the accessible mutual information. However, in some scenarios, weak measurements are preferred because of kinds of specific requirements, e.g., to distribute secret keys to multi-observers. In this study, we propose a method to construct optimal weak measurements for multi-party quantum communications. Utilizing the method in [Physical Review Letters 120, 160501 (2018)] to classify the mutual information, the theoretical study shows that by successively performing this optimal weak measurement, all accessible information can be obtained by multiple observers. This conclusion is experimentally verified by a cascaded measurement apparatus that can perform six successive weak measurements on heralded single photons. The experimental results clearly indicate that almost all accessible mutual information is extracted by this sequence of optimal weak measurements; meanwhile, none of the information is destroyed or residual. Thus, this optimal weak measurement is an efficient and reliable tool for performing quantum communication tasks. The consistence between the experimental and theoretical results verifies that the classifying method in [Phys. Rev. Lett.120, 160501 (2018)] can be applied to characterize realistic quantum measurements.

- Abstract
Background: Clinical outcomes of undifferentiated arthritis (UA) are diverse, and only 40% of patients with UA develop rheumatoid arthritis (RA) after 3 years. Discovering predictive markers at disease onset for further intervention is critical. Therefore, our objective was to analyze the clinical outcomes of UA and ascertain the predictors for RA development., Methods: We performed a prospective, multi-center study from January 2013 to October 2016 among Chinese patients diagnosed with UA in 22 tertiary-care hospitals. Clinical and serological parameters were obtained at recruitment. Follow-up was undertaken in all patients every 12 weeks for 2 years. Predictive factors of disease progression were identified using multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression., Results: A total of 234 patients were recruited in this study, and 17 (7.3%) patients failed to follow up during the study. Among the 217 patients who completed the study, 83 (38.2%) patients went into remission. UA patients who developed RA had a higher rheumatoid factor (RF)-positivity (42.9% vs. 16.8%, χ = 8.228, P = 0.008), anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) antibody-positivity (66.7% vs. 10.7%, χ = 43.897, P < 0.001), and double-positivity rate of RF and anti-CCP antibody (38.1% vs. 4.1%, χ = 32.131, P < 0.001) than those who did not. Anti-CCP antibody but not RF was an independent predictor for RA development (hazard ratio 18.017, 95% confidence interval: 5.803-55.938; P < 0.001)., Conclusion: As an independent predictor of RA, anti-CCP antibody should be tested at disease onset in all patients with UA.

- Abstract
Quantum key distribution (QKD) can generate secure key bits between remote users employing the features of quantum physics. However, a shared reference frame is necessary for QKD systems in most scenarios. A reference-frame-independent (RFI) scheme can tolerate the reference frame drifting between legitimate remote users, which is significant in the operation of relative moving terminals such as satellites and aircraft. We design and experimentally demonstrate an RFI-BB84-QKD system by joint encoding with the polarization and orbital angular momentum states of the photons. We use self-compensating fiber Sagnac interferometers to perform high-speed polarization modulation, and q-plates to passively manipulate the rotation-invariant photon states, which makes the system feasible for high-speed operation using off-the-shelf components.

47. Temporal ghost imaging for quantum device evaluation.

- Abstract
Ghost imaging (GI) can reconstruct the image of an object by measuring the correlation function of two beams, none of which carries the structure information of the object independently. This powerful technology makes it possible to obtain high-quality imaging of the object even in the presence of noise. Here, we introduce the GI method into quantum device evaluation in the time domain. We realized a proof-of-principle experiment to evaluate the temporal detection efficiency of a gated-mode single-photon avalanche detector (SPAD). The experimental results show that high-quality evaluation of temporal characteristics of the SPAD can be realized by the method of temporal GI (TGI). Our work indicates that the TGI method is an effective tool to monitor the temporal characteristics of quantum devices in real time and will bring a new perspective to the security evaluation of quantum communication.

- Abstract
The tunable beam splitter (TBS) is a fundamental component used in optical experiments. A TBS can preserve the orbital angular momentum (OAM) states; in addition, the polarization states of photons are valuable for some particular experiments, such as high-dimensional quantum information processing. We use polarization beam splitters and half-wave plates to realize such a TBS under a compact structure, which can reduce the number of elements that require comparing with existing works. The experiments verify that the TBS has good performances in tunability, polarization, and OAM state preservation. A Sagnac interferometer is implemented with the proposed TBS to evaluate its practical usability, and the mean visibilities greater than 99.30% under varying polarization states demonstrate its potential for optical information processing.

- Abstract
Rationale: Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) is the most effective therapy for patients with an acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). However, up to half of STEMI patients suffer from coronary microvascular dysfunction, presenting as the slow flow or no-reflow phenomenon., Patients Concerns: A 78-year-old man was admitted to the chest pain center with sudden chest pain and tightness for about an hour., Diagnoses: Electrocardiography demonstrated ST-segment elevation in leads II, III, aVF, and third-degree atrioventricular block. Coronary angiography showed acute total occlusion in the distal right coronary artery (RCA)., Interventions: PPCI was performed on the patient. After thrombus aspiration, a stent was placed in the distal RCA. As coronary angiography showed TIMI grade 2 flow in RCA, 6 mg nicorandil was intracoronary administrated in twice. Immediately, cardiac arrest occurred and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed., Outcomes: The patient survived and had a good outcome during follow-up for >6 months., Lessons: Up to now, there has been no case report of cardiac arrest caused by nicorandil. Although intracoronary nicorandil is one of the most commonly used methods to improve coronary flow, much more attention should be paid to side effects of nicorandil.
