The acoustic catalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) was studied using silicon carbide (SiC) nanowires and commercial TiO2 (P-25). SEM images show that the average diameter of SiC nanowires is less than 500 nm and the length is up to tens of microns. XRD patterns and FTIR spectra confirmed the high purity of SiC in the catalyst. The catalytic performance of the two catalysts is better under alkaline conditions. The Kapp values (pseudo-first-order kinetics) of the synergistic effects of ultrasonic treatment and adsorption processes using SiC and TiO2 are 1.36 and 1.31 times the sum of the Kapp values of the two separate processes, respectively. This finding indicates that acoustic catalysis can improve the photocatalytic performance of SiC and TiO2 on MB. Compared with TiO2, SiC nanowires exhibit better acoustic catalytic performance, and hydroxyl radicals are more significant in the acoustic catalytic degradation of SiC to MB. Corrosion has always been a major issue that restricts social development. The global annual corrosion cost is 2.5 trillion U.S. dollars (approximately 3.4% of the world's gross domestic product). Corrosion can also cause resource waste, environmental pollution, and major safety accidents. In recent years, researchers have utilized various corrosion prevention and control technologies and materials to protect metals and other materials from corrosion and achieved gratifying results. Among them, carbon materials have been applied in anticorrosion treatment due to their unique physical and chemical properties, low price, and environmental friendliness. This review mainly summarizes the structure of carbon-based nanomaterials (such as graphene, graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide, carbon nanotubes, carbon quantum dots, carbon fiber, graphite, etc.) and their applications in corrosion prevention as coating, corrosion inhibition, photocathodes, etc. It focuses on the current research status and corrosion resistance mechanism of carbon materials such as graphene, graphene oxide, carbon quantum dots, and carbon nanotubes in the field of corrosion prevention and control. Objective: To investigate the correlation between serum ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase‐1 (ENPP1) level and severity of abdominal vascular calcification in end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) patients receiving dialysis. Methods: A total of 124 patients were consecutively enrolled into the study in our local institution. Based on the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) guidelines and recommendations, abdomen lateral X‐ray was used to determine abdominal aortic calcification score (AACS) for each patient at enrollment. Patients were divided into three groups based on AACS: no or mild calcification group, moderate calcification group, and severe calcification group. The relationships between ENPP1 levels and AACS were assessed by Spearman analysis and the value of ENPP1 in predicting severity of abdominal aortic calcification was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC). Results: The level of ENPP1 in dialysis patients was (7.68 ± 1.67) ng/ml. There was no significant difference in serum ENPP1 level between peritoneal dialysis patients and hemodialysis patients (p > 0.05). The AACS of dialysis patients was negatively correlated with ENPP1 value (r = −0.70). Compared to no/mild calcification patients, the levels of serum ENPP1 in patients with moderate/severe calcification were decreased significantly (p < 0.01). The severity of vascular calcification was correlated with serum ENPP1 value, the severer the vascular calcification, the lower the serum ENPP1 level, and the difference was statistically significant (all p < 0.05). The area under ROC curve of ENPP1 was 0.90, the corresponding sensitivity was 0.86, and the specificity was 0.87. Conclusion: Levels of serum ENPP1 in non‐diabetic ESRD patients are negatively related to the severity of abdominal aortic vascular calcification. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
