This study takes the bank collapse at the left bank of Badi Township of the Lidi Hydropower Station in the Lancang Area as an example. To address the lack of in-depth research on the prediction model and mechanisms of bank collapse, this study conducts field drilling surveys, investigates influencing factors, analyzes causal mechanisms, and proposes prediction methods based on the geological survey data of bank collapse in the reservoir area. The study explores the stratigraphic lithology, determines the key parameters for bank collapse prediction, and studies the failure modes and bank collapse mechanisms. It also proposes the finite element method of bank collapse to predict the width and elevation of bank collapse and provides the influence on the surrounding environment. The results show that the collapsed bank on the left bank of Badi Township is a high and steep soil-like slope, and forms the collapse and retreat type of failure mode after impoundment. The Kachukin method, the bank slope structure method, and the proposed finite element method are used to predict the width and elevation of the collapsed bank. The results indicate that the Kachujin method predicts a larger range of bank collapses and is biased towards safety. In contrast, the prediction ranges of the bank slope structure method and the finite element method are close. The bank collapse position is located in the middle and rear of the residential houses in Badi Township, which is consistent with the on-site investigation and has strong reliability. The predicted width of the bank collapse is about 34 m and the elevation is about 1,845 m. The research results can be directly applied to preventing and controlling bank collapse and have powerful practical application value.

Exotic plant litter presents different chemical and physical properties relative to native plant litter and alters ecosystem processes and functions that may facilitate exotic plant dispersal. However, these effects are largely unknown, especially within wetland ecosystems. This study examines whether introducing litter from the exotic mangrove Laguncularia racemosa could result in (1) accelerated community litter decomposition rates and increased nutrient cycling rates and (2) microbial community structure changes in the invaded areas. A single decomposition experiment using litterbags was conducted to examine the short-term effects of L. racemosa litter in the native mangrove forest ecosystem. The soil nutrients and microbial communities of Rhizophora stylosa, L. racemosa, and mixed forests were also compared to explore the long-term cumulative effects of L. racemosa litter in native ecosystems. The results indicated that L. racemosa has lower-quality leaf litter than R. stylosa and a significantly faster decomposition rate. This may result from changes in the soil microbial community structure caused by L. racemosa leaf litter input, which favors the decomposition of its own litter. Both the short-term and cumulative effect experiments demonstrated that L. racemosa leaf litter significantly increased the relative abundance of microbes related to litter decomposition, such as Proteobacteria and Bdellovibrionota, and enhanced the alpha diversity of soil fungi, thus creating a microbial environment conducive to L. racemosa leaf litter decomposition. Moreover, the accumulation of soil nutrients was lower under L. racemosa than under R. stylosa over several years. This may be related to the more rapid growth of L. racemosa, which causes soil nutrient absorption and storage within the plant tissues, thereby reducing the soil nutrient content. Inputting exotic mangrove L. racemosa leaf litter reduced the soil blue carbon content, potentially adversely affecting global climate change. L. racemosa may employ a unique strategy to lower soil nutrient levels in native mangroves based on its low-quality leaf litter, thereby weakening the competitive ability of native plants that are intolerant to low-nutrient conditions and enhancing its own competitive advantage to further spread into these areas. In summary, the input of exotic L. racemosa leaf litter accelerates nutrient cycling in local mangroves.

Background In recent years, the symptoms of perimenopausal hearing loss (PMS-HL) have received widespread attention, but there is no targeted treatment. Zuoci pill has been used clinically for a hundred years, but there is no relevant research on the treatment of PMS-HL with this drug. Objective To explore the mechanism and therapeutic targets of Zuoci pill on PMS-HL through further validation of animal experiments based on the network pharmacology and molecular docking technology. Methods The active components and action targets of Zuoci pill were obtained through TCMSP and Uniprot databases, and the protein targets of PMS-HL were obtained through GeneCards, OMIM, TTD, DrugBank, and PharmGKB databases according to the composition of Zuoci pill from inception to February 2023, the intersection was taken to screen the potential therapeutic targets of Zuoci pill for the treatment of PMS-HL, and the "drug-active ingredient-target" interaction network diagram was constructed. The protein interaction analysis function of the String database was utilized to screen core targets. The Metascape database was used for enrichment analysis of the function of the proteins and pathways. Molecular docking of the core proteins was performed using Autodock and Pymol software to determine the binding capacity between key active ingredients and core targets. The menopausal animal model was established from September 2022 to January 2023, including Sham operation group (SHAM) group, ovariectomized (OVX) group, and Zuoci pill (ZCW) group, and serum level of the key protein interleukin 1β (IL-1β) was detected and statistically analyzed using SPSS 26.0. Results There were 90 active components, 226 potential protein targets, 2 481 PMS-HL related targets, and 150 Zuoci pill and PMS-HL intersection targets for the compounds in the Zuoci pill formula. A total of 183 items for biological process, 103 items for molecular function, and 103 items for cellular components were obtained in the Gene Ontology (GO) function. The top three Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) were cancer pathways, lipid and atherosclerotic lesion pathway, and receptor activation pathway for chemical carcinogenesis. Molecular docking showed that the main active ingredients of Zuoci pill in treating PMS-HL were quercetin, kaempferol, stigmasterol, β- Sitosterol, isorhamnetin, diosgenin, tetrahydrostilbene and kaempferone; the active components of Zuoci pill can bind to the core target proteins of serine/threonine kinase 1 (AKT1), cellular tumor antigen p53 (TP53), interleukin 6 (IL-6), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGFA), cystatinase 3 (CASP3), IL-1β, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) stably. Abstract The energy‐efficient spin‐orbit torque (SOT) based devices are essential for future memory and logic technologies. To realize a deterministic switching, an external in‐plane magnetic field is usually needed to break the symmetry, which becomes an obstacle for device applications. Here, a field‐free switching in a perpendicularly magnetized yttrium iron garnet covered with an oblique deposited Pt with nitrogen incorporation is demonstrated. The spin‐orbit torque efficiency is enhanced with the increasing incorporation ratio of nitrogen in Pt. The maximum effective spin Hall angle of Pt(N) can reach 0.113, which is almost two times larger than that of pure Pt in Pt/YIG. Meanwhile, the switching current density is reduced with the incorporation of nitrogen. These findings open a route toward high‐efficiency SOT driven spintronic devices based on magnetic insulators.

Climate warming and air pollution are atmospheric environmental problems that have aroused broad concern worldwide. Greenhouse gas emissions are the main cause of global warming. In addition to reducing carbon emissions, increasing carbon sink capacity and improving environmental quality are essential for building green and low-carbon enterprises under carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. Currently, the research on the methods and application of carbon sink capacity assessment in coal mining enterprises is limited. Given this, this study estimated the carbon absorption, carbon storage, and net ecosystem productivity of a typical coal mining area in Taiyuan City, China, and compared the characteristics and applicability of the three methods. The results showed the following: (1) The total carbon absorption (carbon sink) of the mining area in 2021 was 117.39 t, the primary source of which is forest land. (2) The total carbon storage in the mining area in 2021 was 29,561.96 t. From different land use types, the carbon storage in the mining area mainly came from forest land (27,867.73 t); from the perspective of carbon pool, soil carbon storage (21,970.96 t) had the most significant contribution to the carbon storage of mining areas. (3) The net ecosystem productivity of the mining area in 2021 was 781.97 g/(m2·a), indicating that the ecosystem of the mining area was a carbon sink. (4) The three estimation methods differed in the current case. The estimation method for carbon absorption is the simplest, and the results are the most intuitive. The estimation method for net ecosystem productivity is the most complex. The carbon sink estimation via carbon storage needs to collect two years of data. Enterprises should assess the carbon sink capacity of mining areas based on existing conditions and data. This study proposes methods for estimating carbon sink capacity in mining areas, which have positive practical significance for the low-carbon green development of coal mine enterprises.

Rapid urbanization in the Songhua River Basin (SRB), a crucial ecological barrier in China and Northeast Asia, has led to the degradation of ecosystem service functions and a decline in their value, thereby posing a significant threat to regional ecological security. Clarifying the complex coupling coordination relationship between urbanization and ecosystem services (ESs) and identifying the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of their interactions will facilitate the high-quality and coordinated development of urbanization and ESs in the SRB. This study employed a systems approach, treating urbanization and ESs as overarching systems and delineating different aspects of urbanization and ecosystem service functions as subsystems within these systems. The spatiotemporal characteristics of urbanization and the ecosystem service value (ESV) in the SRB from 1985 to 2021 were revealed. The coupling coordination relationship and the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of the interactions between urbanization and ESs in the SRB at both the system and subsystem levels were analyzed using the coupling coordination degree (CCD) model and the spatiotemporal geographically weighted regression (GTWR) model. The findings indicated that during the study period: (1) The urbanization index of SRB rose from 0.09 to 0.34, while the ESV experienced a decrease from 2091.42 × 107 CNY to 2002.44 × 107 CNY. (2) The coupling coordination degree (CCD) between urbanization and ESs in the SRB at both the system and subsystem levels increased significantly, generally transitioning from the moderately unbalanced to the basically balanced stage. Areas with high CCD values were mainly distributed in ecological function areas and low-level urbanized areas, while areas with low CCD values were mainly distributed in grassland ecological degradation areas, ecologically fragile areas, resource-dependent old industrial cities, and highly urbanized areas. (3) The subsystems of urbanization had an overall negative impact on Ess, with varying trends, but the spatial distribution pattern of the interactions remained relatively stable. Conversely, the subsystems of ESs all exhibited a trend of initially strengthening and then weakening their negative impacts on urbanization, and the spatial distribution pattern was highly correlated with the spatial distribution pattern of ESV in the SRB.

Abstract Background With advances in science and technology, the application of artificial intelligence in medicine has significantly progressed. The purpose of this study is to explore whether the k-nearest neighbors (KNN) machine learning method can identify three milling states based on vibration signals: cancellous bone (CCB), ventral cortical bone (VCB), and penetration (PT) in robot-assisted cervical laminectomy. Methods Cervical laminectomies were performed on the cervical segments of eight pigs using a robot. First, the bilateral dorsal cortical bone and part of the CCB were milled with a 5 mm blade and then the bilateral laminae were milled to penetration with a 2 mm blade. During the milling process using the 2 mm blade, the vibration signals were collected by the acceleration sensor, and the harmonic components were extracted using fast Fourier transform. The feature vectors were constructed with vibration signal amplitudes of 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 kHz and the KNN was then trained by the features vector to predict the milling states. Abstract Background Evidence has shown that early‐life famine exposure and obesity in adulthood are independently associated with the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, few studies had revealed the combined effect of these risk factors. Methods Two sets of groups from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) were selected. The fetal‐exposure group born in 1959–1961 from 2011 wave (N = 958) and nonexposure group born in 1963–1965 from 2015 wave (N = 1540) were selected as Comparison 1. The early childhood‐exposure group born in 1955–1957 from 2011 wave (N = 1510) and fetal‐exposure group born in 1959–1961 from 2015 wave (N = 943) were Comparison 2. Logistic regressions were applied to examine the associations of different famine exposure periods and obesity patterns with T2DM risk. Results Compared with nonexposed participants without central overweight/obesity in adulthood, central overweight/obesity in adulthood together with nonexposure (odds ratio [OR]: 1.89, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.19–3.00) or fetal‐exposure (OR: 1.99, 95% CI: 1.23–3.23) was associated with higher risks of T2DM. Compared with the early childhood‐exposure group, the fetal‐exposed participants showed higher risks of T2DM (OR: 1.30, 95% CI: 1.02–1.66). The coexistence of fetal famine exposure and central overweight/obesity in adulthood was associated with higher risks of T2DM (OR: 1.82, 95% CI: 1.19–2.79). Consistent associations were observed among males and participants from less severely affected areas. Conclusions In conclusion, central overweight/obesity in adulthood is associated with the increased risk of T2DM, but the effect of early‐life famine exposure is not very clear.

Abstract The exploration of new materials exhibiting excellent spin transport properties, particularly those capable of efficiently transmitting pure spin currents at room temperature, is a crucial aspect of spintronics. This work reports the observation of room‐temperature spin transport in a paramagnetic insulator Gd3Ga5O12 (GGG). By measuring the longitudinal spin Seebeck voltage, spin Hall magnetoresistance, and anomalous Hall resistance in a Y3Fe5O12 (YIG)/GGG/Pt heterostructure at room temperature, the spin current is found to propagate in GGG up to a distance of 7 nm through the paramagnons, which are the collective excitations of the local spin within the paramagnet. Remarkably, this spin propagation phenomenon occurs at a small magnetic field and irrespective of whether the spin current injected into GGG is thermally induced from YIG or electrically generated through the spin Hall effect of Pt. Moreover, the inclusion of a thin GGG spacer layer increases the thermal spin current from YIG to Pt by 31%. Calculations based on the diffusive magnon transport model indicate high spin conductance at the GGG/Pt interface. These findings highlight the potential of a wide range of paramagnetic materials in facilitating spin transport and advancing the development of spintronic devices.

The Xiaoqinling area is located in the eastern part of the Qinling Orogen and experiences early and late Mesozoic gold mineralization controlled by structural deformation. The relationship between the two stages of mineralization and the orogenic process of the Qinling Orogen is unclear. We investigated the deformation and alteration of E-W striking veins in the Xiaoqinling area. The geometric features revealed that all the veins developed within the E–W-striking Guanyintang brittle–ductile shear zone. The vein was subparallel to the shear zone, dipped at 30°–60°, and had a wave-like appearance. The Guanyintang shear zone underwent three deformation stages: sinistral shearing (D1), dextral thrusting (D2), and sinistral normal faulting (D3). The development of ore-bearing quartz veins was controlled by deformation during D2, and the auriferous pyrite and minor chalcopyrite developed along the shear foliations. Re-Os dating of the molybdenite revealed a well-constrained isochron age of 230.2 ± 2.6 Ma, indicating the E-W striking shear zone developed in Late Triassic. This early Mesozoic shearing deformation in Xiaoqinling represents the early Mesozoic metallogenesis is correlated with the collisional orogeny of the Qinling orogen.

AimPatients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP) usually present anxiety or depression during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study sought to investigate the instant and short-term effects of acupuncture for anxiety and depression in UAP patients with PCI.MethodsA total of 210 UAP patients who underwent PCI were recruited and randomly assigned (1:1:1) to acupuncture, placebo, or control groups. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect the levels of fasting glucose, fasting insulin, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), interleukin-6 (IL-6), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs-CRP), advanced oxidation protein products (AoPPs), and oxidized low-density lipoprotein (OX-LDL). Serial questionnaires with the Hamilton Anxiety (HAMA) scale and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index were evaluated, and heart rate variability indicators were obtained.ResultsPrimary end-point: low frequency/high frequency (HF) was lower in the electroacupuncture group (p = 0.014), while standard deviation of normal-to-normal intervals, average standard deviation of normal-to-normal intervals, percentage of successive intervals that differ more than 50 ms, and HF were increased with acupuncture (p = 0.018, p = 0.043, p = 0.016, and p = 0.002, respectively). ABSTRACT: This study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary curcumin supplementation on laying performance, egg quality, egg metabolites, lipid metabolism, antioxidant activity, and intestinal microbial composition of quails in the late laying period. A total of 960 late-laying quails (240-day-old) were randomly divided into 4 groups of 6 replicates each (n = 40/replicate). The experimental diets of the 4 groups consisted of basal diets supplemented with 0, 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg curcumin, respectively. The feeding experiment lasted for 8 wk. The results showed that 200 mg/kg curcumin supplementation decreased mortality and increased eggshell thickness and strength compared with the 0 mg/kg curcumin supplementation during wk 5 to 8. In addition, dietary supplementation of curcumin promoted lipid metabolism, enhanced antioxidant activity, and modified intestinal microbiota structure. In conclusion, dietary supplemented with 200 mg/kg curcumin significantly improved the egg quality of quails in the late laying period, primarily by improving lipid metabolism and selectively regulating the intestinal microbial community.

Abstract Perpendicularly magnetized ferrimagnetic insulators offer great potential for the development of fast and energy‐efficient spintronic devices. However, a major challenge for these devices is the requirement of an auxiliary magnetic field to achieve spin‐orbit torque (SOT)‐driven magnetization switching, along with the extremely small electric read‐out signal from the adjacent heavy metal layer. In this work, an approach by introducing an ultrathin Co layer primarily with in‐plane magnetization at the interface of the Tm3Fe5O12/Pt bilayers, which enables field‐free deterministic switching of the perpendicular Tm3Fe5O12 layer is demonstrated. Meanwhile, it is observed that a large anomalous Hall resistance readout signal from the coupling‐induced perpendicular component of the interfacial Co, which is nearly two orders of magnitude larger than that observed in Tm3Fe5O12/Pt bilayers. The crucial role played by the Co layer in modifying the SOT is elucidated. This research represents a significant step toward the practical implementation of ferrimagnetic insulator devices.

Background: A gut-microbial metabolite, trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO), has been associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Few previous prospective studies have addressed associations between the changes in TMAO and T2DM incidence. Methods: Data were derived from a longitudinal cohort conducted from 2019 to 2021 in rural areas of Fuxin County, Liaoning Province, China, and 1515 diabetes-free participants aged above 35 years were included. The concentrations of serum TMAO and its precursors were measured at two time points, namely in 2019 and 2021. TMAO and TMAO changes (ΔTMAO) were separately tested in a logistic regression model. For further examination, the odds ratios (ORs) for T2DM were calculated according to a combination of TMAO levels and ΔTMAO levels. Results: During a median follow-up of 1.85 years, 81 incident cases of T2DM (5.35%) were identified. Baseline TMAO levels exhibited a nonlinear relationship, first decreasing and then increasing, and only at the highest quartile was it associated with the risk of T2DM. The OR for T2DM in the highest quartile of serum TMAO was 3.35 (95%CI: 1.55–7.26, p = 0.002), compared with the lowest quartile. As for its precursors, only choline level was associated with T2DM risk and the OR for T2DM in the Q3 and Q4 of serum choline was 3.37 (95%CI: 1.41–8.05, p = 0.006) and 4.72 (95%CI: 1.47–15.13, p = 0.009), respectively. When considering both baseline TMAO levels and ΔTMAO over time, participants with sustained high TMAO levels demonstrated a significantly increased risk of T2DM, with a multivariable-adjusted OR of 8.68 (95%CI: 1.97, 38.34). Conclusion: Both initial serum TMAO levels and long-term serum TMAO changes were collectively and significantly associated with the occurrence of subsequent T2DM events. Interventions aimed at normalizing TMAO levels, such as adopting a healthy dietary pattern, may be particularly beneficial in T2DM prevention.

In satellite remote sensing (SRS), there is a demand for large-power microwave components. A Butler matrix is essential to a transmitting antenna array in SRS. This article illustrates the electrical and mechanical design, simulation, and test results of a large-power planar beamforming network for SRS at C-band. It is a 4 × 4 Butler matrix based on square coaxial lines. Short-ended stubs are used in the Butler matrix to broaden its bandwidth by 10%, support inner conductors, and enhance heat transfer in vacuum environments. The simulation results are consistent with the measured results. The reflection coefficient is less than −18 dB, and the isolation is more than 23 dB from 3.8 GHz to 4.2 GHz. The insertion losses are less than 0.6 dB, and the phase errors are better than ±6°. The measured peak microwave power of the proposed Butler matrix is 9 kW. Its size is 440 × 400 × 40 mm3. The proposed Butler matrix beamforming network can be applied to SRS systems.

Since China joined the WTO, its economy has experienced rapidly growth, resulting in significantly increase in fossil fuel consumption and corresponding rise in CO2 emissions. Currently, China is the world's largest emitter of CO2, the regional distribution is also extremely uneven. so, it is important to identify the factors influence CO2 emissions in the three regions and predict future trends based on these factors. This paper proposes 14 carbon emission factors and uses the random forest feature ranking algorithm to rank the importance of these factors in three regions. The main factors affecting CO2 emissions in each region are identified. Additionally, an ARIMA + LSTM carbon emission predict model based on the inverse error combination method is developed to address the linear and nonlinear relationships of carbon emission data. The findings suggest that the ARIMA + LSTM is more accurate in predicting the trend of CO2 emissions in China. Moreover, the ARIMA + LSTM is employed to forecast the future CO2 emission trends in China's east, central, and west regions, which can serve as a foundation for China's CO2 emission reduction initiatives.

Two homologous branched dodecaynes 1,3,5-{(4-tBu)[2,3-(RC[rho]C)2]Ph(C[rho]C-C[rho]C)}3Ph (2a, R = H; 2b, R = Ph) were synthesized and characterized in this work. According to steady-state spectroscopy, their electronic absorption and luminescent behaviors were investigated and compared. Simultaneously, as a typical structure of this class of dodecaynes, the molecular configuration of dodecayne 2a was depicted by density functional theory (DFT) simulation and the maximal absorption were supported by the subsequent TD-DFT calculations. In addition, the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) emission was also investigated. The experiment results showed that [pi]-extended dodecayne 2b with more distorted trigonal-planar possessed strong and stable ECL emission, indicating that it has potential application in ECL and luminescence fields.
