Background: Studies on the impact of workplace safety inspections on work injuries have found mixed effectiveness. Most studies are from the United States, examining Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) regulatory inspections in manufacturing firms with more than 10 employees. This study examines whether regulatory inspections in Alberta, Canada, result in reductions in workers' compensation claims rates for inspected firms relative to comparable non‐inspected firms. Methods: Firm and claim‐level data from the Workers' Compensation Board of Alberta were linked with regulatory enforcement data from the Government of Alberta for construction, manufacturing, and transportation firms with at least one full‐time employee for 37 consecutive months. A matched difference‐in‐differences study design was used to estimate changes in lost‐time claim rates for work‐related injuries and musculoskeletal diseases of inspected and comparable non‐inspected firms between the year pre‐inspection and 2 years, post‐inspection, controlling for firm‐level characteristics. Results: Inspections were not effective in reducing firm‐level claim rates, with the exception of transportation firms with more than one inspection experiencing a 28% decrease in their claim rate in the second year post‐inspection, relative to the change in non‐inspected firms. In construction, inspected firms experienced a 12% increase in their claim rate in the first year post‐inspection. No effect was observed in the manufacturing sector. Conclusions: Regulatory workplace safety inspections in Alberta generally do not result in greater reductions in firm‐level claim rates in the construction, manufacturing, and transportation sectors. Through exploring current outdoor tourism development of Ganzi Prefecture and its tourism development prospects, this study planned the pertinent outdoor tourism product system according to its background advantages. Tourism impact research from a sustainable livelihood perspective is of great significance for improving peasant households’ livelihood, reducing the livelihood vulnerability of peasant households and promoting the sustainable development of rural tourist destinations. Jiaju Tibetan Village is a typical rural tourist destination relying on natural and humanistic tourism resources. Based on field investigation, this paper systematically analyzes the impact of tourism development on local peasant households’ livelihood. The research shows that: (1) after tourism development, the means of livelihood of peasant households there are more diversified, the structure of livelihoods changes, the number of peasant households engaged in tourism-related livelihood activities has increased significantly, and the number of peasant households engaged in traditional livelihood activities has been greatly reduced; (2) driven by the external development of rural tourism, peasant households choose reasonable means of livelihood based on their own attributes, and there are four types of peasant households with different combinations of livelihood activities and household characteristics, namely, labor-oriented peasant households, tourism-labor peasant households, tourism-specialized peasant households, and mixed peasant households. Under the influence of rural tourism development, peasant households’ livelihood has increased, and peasant’s livelihood vulnerability has decreased, especially the sustainability of the livelihood of rural tourism operators has increased. It is important for maritime authorities to effectively classify and identify unknown types of ships in historical trajectory data. This paper uses a logistic regression model to construct a ship classifier by utilising the features extracted from ship trajectories. First of all, three basic movement patterns are proposed according to ship sailing characteristics, with related sub-trajectory partitioning algorithms. Subsequently, three categories of trajectory features with their extraction methods are presented. Finally, a case study on building a model for classifying fishing boats and cargo ships based on real Automatic Identification System (AIS) data is given. Experimental results indicate that the proposed classification method can meet the needs of recognising uncertain types of targets in historical trajectory data, laying a foundation for further research on camouflaged ship identification, behaviour pattern mining, outlier behaviour detection and other applications. Tourists are the subject of tourism activity, and it is conducive to promoting sustainable development of tourism destination by studying their behavior characteristics and tourism perception. Mugecuo Scenic Area in Kangding City, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province is taken as research case, and visitors and managers in the scenic area are surveyed by using semi-structured interview method. Based on survey data, the research aims to put forward corresponding policy suggestions for sustainable development of Mugecuo Scenic Area by deeply analyzing tourists' access to information of scenic area, tourists' travel purpose, tourists' satisfaction with services of scenic area and willingness to revisit. Based on the statistical data of daily precipitation in 14 meteorological stations of Ganzi Prefecture from 1960 to 2011, the temporal variation characteristics of precipitation in Ganzi Prefecture in nearly 50 years were studied. The results showed that in Ganzi Prefecture, annual precipitation showed an increasing trend, and averaged 659 mm in nearly 50 years, mainly varying from 550 to 750 mm. In a year, precipitation was mainly distributed in summer and autumn, and the precipitation in summer and autumn accounted for 83% of annual precipitation. Seen from the interdecadal variation of annual precipitation, annual precipitation in Ganzi Prefecture showed an increasing trend in different decades in nearly 50 years. It continued to increase from the 1960s to the 1990s. It increased most greatly from the 1970s to the 1980s but decreased slightly from the 1990s to the 2000s. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on the statistical data of temperature and precipitation in Kangding City from 1960 to 2011, the variation characteristics of temperature and precipitation in nearly 50 years were studied. The results showed that in Kangding City, average temperature showed an increasing trend in nearly 50 years, which is consistent with global warming. Average temperature in Kangding City was stable from the 1960s to the 1990s but changed obviously in the 2000s. Precipitation in Kangding City tended to increase in nearly 50 years. Spring and summer precipitation increased synchronously, and autumn precipitation was five times more than winter precipitation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on data of daily average temperature recorded by 29 meteorological observation stations in western Sichuan during 1961-2011, variation characteristics of temperature in western Sichuan in the past 50 years were analyzed. The results showed that average temperature in western Sichuan showed an increasing trend during 1961-2011, and the linear fitting growth rate of temperature was 0.42 °C/10 a. In the four seasons, average temperature also showed an increasing trend. Among the four seasons, temperature increased most significantly in summer and autumn, followed by winter, while temperature increase was weak in spring. Objective: To construct Lactococcus lactis (LL)-based recombinant LL-Eg95 (rLL-Eg95) vaccine for Echinococcus granulosus (Eg) and to examine its expression efficiency., Methods: Eg 95 gene was obtained by PCR from the template of pCD- Eg 95. Then, pMG36e was inserted in the Eg 95 gene after double cleaving with restriction endonucleases Xba Ⅰ and Hin dⅢ to construct recombinant plasmid pMG36e- Eg 95, which was transformed into E.coli BL2 (DE3) competent cells. The recombinant plasmid was extracted and identified by double restriction endonuclease digestion and was then electroporated into LL MG1363 to construct rLL-Eg95 vaccine. Then, the plamid was extracted and identified by PCR., Results: Examination of the recombinant plasmid by double restriction endonuclease digestion showed that the segment was of the expected length. PCR showed that 471 base pairs of Eg 95 gene were amplified when the plasmid extracted from roxithromycin-resistant recombinant LL was used as the template. Analysis by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) showed that the relative molecular mass of the Eg95 protein expressed was approximately 16.5×10 3 and that the amount of the expressed protein was 17% of the total bacterial proteins. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate whether an integrated return-to-work (RTW) and vocational rehabilitation (VR) program - the Work Reintegration (WR) program - was associated with reduced work disability duration in the construction sector in Ontario, Canada., Methods: Workers' compensation data from the Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board were extracted for lost-time construction worker claims following work-related injuries between 2009 and 2015. Claims receiving referrals to RTW and VR specialists (treatments) were matched with claims receiving no referrals (controls) during the periods before and after the WR program introduction. Multivariable difference-in-differences linear and quantile regression models were used to examine differences in cumulative disability days paid during two-years post-injury between treatment and control groups before and after the program change and the difference in these differences, overall, and at different disability distribution percentiles., Results: The WR program introduction was associated with reductions in cumulative disability days paid for all claims but most notably among longer duration claims referred to RTW specialists (reduction of 274 days at the 90 th percentile in the disability distribution) and shorter duration claims referred to VR specialists (reductions of 255 and 214 days at the 25 th and 50 th percentiles in the disability distribution, respectively)., Conclusions: The WR program introduction was effective in reducing cumulative disability days paid for construction worker claims but the effects varied at different percentiles in the disability distribution, as well as by specialist referral. The findings highlight the benefits of better integrated RTW and VR services to injured workers in the construction sector.
