Abstract: The Review summarizes much of particle physics and cosmology. Using data from previous editions, plus 2,873 new measurements from 758 papers, we list, evaluate, and average measured properties of gauge bosons and the recently discovered Higgs boson, leptons, quarks, mesons, and baryons. We summarize searches for hypothetical particles such as supersymmetric particles, heavy bosons, axions, dark photons, etc. Particle properties and search limits are listed in Summary Tables. We give numerous tables, figures, formulae, and reviews of topics such as Higgs Boson Physics, Supersymmetry, Grand Unified Theories, Neutrino Mixing, Dark Energy, Dark Matter, Cosmology, Particle Detectors, Colliders, Probability and Statistics. Among the 118 reviews are many that are new or heavily revised, including a new review on Neutrinos in Cosmology.Starting with this edition, the Review is divided into two volumes. Volume 1 includes the Summary Tables and all review articles. Volume 2 consists of the Particle Listings. Review articles that were previously part of the Listings are now included in volume 1.The complete Review (both volumes) is published online on the website of the Particle Data Group (http://pdg.lbl.gov) and in a journal. Volume 1 is available in print as the PDG Book. A Particle Physics Booklet with the Summary Tables and essential tables, figures, and equations from selected review articles is also available.The 2018 edition of the Review of Particle Physics should be cited as: M. This edition features expanded coverage of CP violation in B mesons and of neutrino oscillations. For the first time we cover searches for evidence of extra dimensions (both in the particle listings and in a new review). Another new review is on Grand Unified Theories. Abstract: We present a high statistics measurement of the branching ratio for the decay τ-→π-μτ using data obtained with the Mark II detector at the SLAC e+e- storage ring SPEAR. We have used events from the center-of-mass energy region 3.52 to 6.7 GeV to determine that B(τ-→π-μτ)=0.117±0.004±0.018. From electron-muon events in the same data sample, we have determined that B(τ-→π-μτ) B(τ-→e--μeμτ)=0.66±0.03±0.11. We present measurements of the mass and spin of the τ and the mass of the τ neutrino based, for the first time, on a hadronic decay mode of the τ. © 1982.

Abstract: A peak in the pK-+ and p»K+- invariant-mass spectra at 2.2850.006 GeV/c2 is observed, which is associated with the lowest-lying charmed baryon (c). A cross section times branching ratio of 0.0370.012 nb at Ec.m.=5.2 GeV is measured with a substantial fraction of the events produced with an equal recoiling mass. New measurements of inclusive p and cross sections are also presented, allowing an estimate of the branching ratio B(c+pK-+)=0.0220.010. © 1980 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: A high-statistics study of decays into baryon final states has been done with the Mark II detector at SPEAR. A detailed test of baryon-antibaryon decay modes is presented. Substantial resonance formation is observed in multibody decays of the involving baryons. Branching ratios for a large number of decay modes are given, including the radiative decay pp. The flavor-SU(3)-forbidden decays (1385)+charge conjugate are observed with substantial branching ratios. © 1984 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The prompt photon decay (3095)+-+- has been studied with the Mark II detector at SPEAR. This channel is found to contain a 00 component with 00 masses concentrated between 1.4 and 2.0 GeV/c2. The branching fraction for the 00 decay with masses less than 2.0 GeV/c2 is measured to be (1.25±0.35±0.40)×10-3. © 1982 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The inclusive and 0 momentum distributions at the have been measured. Using these data and estimates of production, it is found that (4.1 0.8)% of decays contain a direct photon with energy greater than 60% of the beam energy. The expected momentum distribution for direct photons calculated to lowest order in quantum chromodynamics is qualitatively different from that observed in the data. © 1980 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: Direct electrons are observed in baryon events produced in e+e- annihilation at center-of-mass energies above the c»c threshold. These events are attributed to charmed-baryon pair production and subsequent c semileptonic decay. Abstract: The decay mode ψ′→γγψ has been studied with the Mark-II detector at SPEAR. New measurements of branching ratios for decays of the type ψ′→γχ, χ→γψ involving known χ states are presented. The existence of a χ state of mass near 3455 MeV/c2 produced in this decay chain is not confirmed, and the upper limit (90% confidence level) of the product of branching ratios is measured to be 0.13%. A new decay mode, ψ′→π0ψ, which violates isospin conservation is observed with branching ratio (0.15±0.06)%. © 1980 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present results of a detailed analysis of inclusive direct photon production at the (3095). The direct-photon momentum distribution for x>0.4 is presented and compared with the leading-order quantum-chromodynamic prediction. The total production rate is found to be consistent with theoretical expectations, but the observed momentum distribution is considerably softer. Results of an analysis of some inclusive properties of the hadronic system recoiling against the direct photon are presented. The mean charged-particle and Ks multiplicities are presented as functions of the invariant mass of the hadronic system. These data agree well with the corresponding mean multiplicities measured in e+e- annihilations at center-of-mass energies comparable to the invariant mass of the hadronic system. © 1981 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the cross section for hadron production by e+e- annihilation in the vicinity of the previously observed resonance near 3.77 GeV. The data are used to determine the parameters of the (3770) resonance. The values found are: mass, 3764±5 MeV/c2, total width, 23.5±5 MeV, and partial width to electron pairs, 276±50 eV. © 1980 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The branching fraction for the Cabibbo-suppressed decay τ-→K-ντ is measured from data obtained with the Mark II detector at SPEAR. Fifteen events containing a K± in coincidence with a muon or electron of opposite charge are observed. It is determined that B(τ-→K-ντ)=(1.3±0.5)%. © 1982 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: Searches for 12 neutrinoless decay modes of the which violate lepton-number conservation have been made using the reaction e+e-+-. No evidence for lepton-number violation is observed, and we have set upper limits (90% C.L.) on the branching ratio for each decay mode. The branching-ratio limits on the radiative decays and e are 0.055 and 0.064%, respectively. For the charged lepton decays ee, eee, and, the branching ratio limits are 0.040, 0.033, 0.044, and 0.049%, respectively. Upper limits on the branching ratios for the following charged lepton + neutral hadron decays are 0 (0.037%), 0 (0.044%), eK0 (0.13%), K0 (0.10%), 0 (0.21%), and 0 (0.082%). We also use these data to search for the pair production in e+e- annihilation of some unconventional particles with masses less than about 3 GeV/c2. © 1982 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the cross section for the reaction e+e- → e+e-π+π-π+π-at SPEAR. This channel is found to be large and dominated by the process γγ → ρ{variant}0ρ{variant}0 → π+π-π+π-. The cross section, which is small just above the four-pion threshold, exhibits a large enhancement near the ρ{variant}0ρ{variant}0 threshold. © 1981.

Abstract: A high-statistics study of decays into baryon final states has been done with the Mark II detector at SPEAR. A detailed test of baryon-antibaryon decay modes is presented. Substantial resonance formation is observed in multibody decays of the involving baryons. Branching ratios for a large number of decay modes are given, including the radiative decay pp. The flavor-SU(3)-forbidden decays (1385)+charge conjugate are observed with substantial branching ratios. © 1984 The American Physical Society.

This channel is found to contain a 00 component with 00 masses concentrated between 1.4 and 2.0 GeV/c2. Abstract: The inclusive and 0 momentum distributions at the have been measured. Using these data and estimates of production, it is found that (4.1 0.8)% of decays contain a direct photon with energy greater than 60% of the beam energy. Abstract: We have observed a radiative transition from the ψ to a state decaying into KSK±π∓, with mass M = 1.44-0.015+0.01 GeV/c2 and width Γ = 0.05-0.02+0.03 GeV/c2. We tentatively identify this state as the E(1420). Assuming that this state is an isospin singlet, we have determined the branching fraction product B(ψ → γE) × B(E × KKπ) = (3.6 ± 1.4) × 10-3. © 1980.

Abstract: The Review summarizes much of particle physics and cosmology. Using data from previous editions, plus 2,873 new measurements from 758 papers, we list, evaluate, and average measured properties of gauge bosons and the recently discovered Higgs boson, leptons, quarks, mesons, and baryons. We summarize searches for hypothetical particles such as supersymmetric particles, heavy bosons, axions, dark photons, etc. Particle properties and search limits are listed in Summary Tables. We give numerous tables, figures, formulae, and reviews of topics such as Higgs Boson Physics, Supersymmetry, Grand Unified Theories, Neutrino Mixing, Dark Energy, Dark Matter, Cosmology, Particle Detectors, Colliders, Probability and Statistics. Among the 118 reviews are many that are new or heavily revised, including a new review on Neutrinos in Cosmology.Starting with this edition, the Review is divided into two volumes. Volume 1 includes the Summary Tables and all review articles. Volume 2 consists of the Particle Listings. Review articles that were previously part of the Listings are now included in volume 1.The complete Review (both volumes) is published online on the website of the Particle Data Group (http://pdg.lbl.gov) and in a journal. Volume 1 is available in print as the PDG Book. A Particle Physics Booklet with the Summary Tables and essential tables, figures, and equations from selected review articles is also available.The 2018 edition of the Review of Particle Physics should be cited as: M. Among the 108 reviews are many that are new or heavily revised including those on neutrino mass, mixing, and oscillations, QCD, top quark, CKM quark-mixing matrix, Vud & Vus, Vcb & Vub, fragmentation functions, particle detectors for accelerator and non-accelerator physics, magnetic monopoles, cosmological parameters, and big bang cosmology. A booklet is available containing the Summary Tables and abbreviated versions of some of the other sections of this full Review. Abstract: This biennial Review summarizes much of particle physics. Using data from previous editions, plus 2158 new measurements from 551 papers, we list, evaluate, and average measured properties of gauge bosons, leptons, quarks, mesons, and baryons. We also summarize searches for hypothetical particles such as Higgs bosons, heavy neutrinos, and supersymmetric particles. All the particle properties and search limits are listed in Summary Tables. We also give numerous tables, figures, formulae, and reviews of topics such as the Standard Model, particle detectors, probability, and statistics. Among the 108 reviews are many that are new or heavily revised including those on neutrino mass, mixing, and oscillations, QCD, top quark, CKM quark-mixing matrix, Vud & Vus , Vcb & Vub , fragmentation functions, particle detectors for accelerator and non-accelerator physics, magnetic monopoles, cosmological parameters, and big bang cosmology. A booklet is available containing the Summary Tables and abbreviated versions of some of the other sections of this full Review. Abstract: This biennial Review summarizes much of Particle Physics Using data from previous editions, plus 2205 new measurements from 667 papers, we list, evaluate, and average measured properties of gauge bosons, leptons, quarks, mesons, and baryons We also summarize searches for hypothetical particles such as Higgs bosons, heavy neutrinos, and supersymmetric particles All the particle properties and search limits are listed in Summary Tables We also give numerous tables, figures, formulae, and reviews of topics such as the Standard Model, particle detectors, probability, and statistics This edition features expanded coverage of CP violation in B mesons and of neutrino oscillations For the first time we cover searches for evidence of extra dimensions (both in the particle listings and in a new review) Another new review is on Grand Unified Theories A booklet is available containing the Summary Tables and abbreviated versions of some of the other sections of this full Review All tables, listings, and reviews (and errata) are also available on the Particle Data Group website http //pdg 1b1 gov

Abstract: We present a high statistics measurement of the branching ratio for the decay τ-→π-μτusing data obtained with the Mark II detector at the SLAC e+e-storage ring SPEAR. We have used events from the center-of-mass energy region 3.52 to 6.7 GeV to determine that B(τ-→π-μτ)=0.117±0.004±0.018. From electron-muon events in the same data sample, we have determined that B(τ-→π-μτ) B(τ-→e--μeμτ)=0.66±0.03±0.11. We present measurements of the mass and spin of the τ and the mass of the τ neutrino based, for the first time, on a hadronic decay mode of the τ. © 1982.

Abstract: We present results of a detailed analysis of inclusive direct photon production at the (3095). The direct-photon momentum distribution for x>0.4 is presented and compared with the leading-order quantum-chromodynamic prediction. The total production rate is found to be consistent with theoretical expectations, but the observed momentum distribution is considerably softer. Results of an analysis of some inclusive properties of the hadronic system recoiling against the direct photon are presented. The mean charged-particle and Ks multiplicities are presented as functions of the invariant mass of the hadronic system. These data agree well with the corresponding mean multiplicities measured in e+e- annihilations at center-of-mass energies comparable to the invariant mass of the hadronic system. © 1981 The American Physical Society.

49. Attitudes & practices surrounding pregnancy post heart transplant among pediatric providers.

Abstract: Background: Many pediatric heart transplant (HT) recipients reach adulthood and may be interested in family planning; there is little data regarding safety of pregnancy post HT and clinicians' opinions differ. Pediatric HT clinicians are instrumental in early counseling. Thus, a better understanding of pediatric HT clinicians' practices regarding family planning and how well aligned these practices are with adult transplant centers is essential., Methods: We conducted a confidential, web-based survey of pediatric HT clinicians in fall 2021. We summarized and compared answers using Fisher's exact test., Results: The survey was sent to 53 United States-based HT directors and to the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and Pediatric Heart Transplant Society list serves. There were 69 respondents. The majority (77%) of respondents felt pregnancy was feasible in selected or all female HT recipients. Ten respondents reported that their institution had an established policy regarding pregnancy post HT. A majority (77%) of HT clinicians would either use a shared care model or recommend transition to their adult institution if pregnancy occurred, though 74% of respondents were either unaware of their corresponding adult institution's policy (62%) or had a counterpart adult program with a policy against pregnancy post HT (12%)., Conclusions: While many clinicians feel pregnancy is feasible in pediatric HT recipients, there remains significant practice variation. Few pediatric programs have a policy regarding pregnancy post HT. Abstract: Background: Ovarian teratomas are common, as is use of topical hemostatic agents in ovarian surgery., Case: Following laparoscopic right ovarian cystectomy, a flowable hemostatic agent was placed in the ovarian bed. Postoperative ultrasound demonstrated an enlarged heterogeneous right ovary with solid and cystic components interpreted as residual or recurrent teratoma. Visual inspection during repeat laparoscopy revealed an irregularly shaped, enlarged right ovary with a smooth cortex. A cavity inside the ovary contained brown, shaggy material. Pathological evaluation demonstrated normal ovary and fibrin., Summary and Conclusion: We report the first case of a hemostatic agent routinely used in ovarian cystectomy postoperatively, mimicking a teratoma. Consideration of this finding is important when planning surgery in adolescent patients to optimize fertility preservation and minimize ovarian follicle damage., (Copyright © 2021.
