Photometric and spectroscopic approaches were utilized to examine the two galaxies, PGC 165324 and PGC 977941. Data releases (DR7 and DR17) from "The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS)” were employed to acquire the observed data. Then, ellipsoids were fitted via employing the Image Reduction and Analysis Facility (IRAF) with utilising STSDAS Library, the ELLIPS task. Along with the astrometric characteristics, the surfaces’ brightness of the galaxies PGC 165324 and PGC 977941, as well as their magnitudes, cumulative flux, central axis position angles, ellipticities, vertical and horizontal shifts, isophotal shape variables (B4), and also the star-forming rates (SFRs), were analysed and evaluated. It was indicated that the two galaxies, are members of a close pair galaxy system; in addition, they are considered a physical system; the PGC 165324 galaxy was a merging galaxy with a higher SFR. It was likely that the PGC 977941 had separated itself from the galaxy collision and drifted away. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Lenticular galaxy NGC3 has been chosen to study the surface photometry using griz filter. The data where obtained from the seventh Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release seven (DR7), and main the image reduction was done by the pipeline of SDSS. The work was achieved by the ELLIPS task from the STSDAS ISOPHOTE package in the Image Reduction and Analysis Facility (IRAF).The overall structure of the galaxy (a bulge, a bar, isophotal contour maps, together with a bulge to disk decomposition of the galaxy images where achieved, Also, the photometric properties (the disk position angle, ellipticity, B4 and inclination of the galaxy) where estimated.

9. Evaluation of VMA and Film Thickness Requirements in Hot-Mix Asphalt

The asphaltic mixture consists of three main parts: the aggregate, the binder and air voids between the granules. The percentage of air void is important, where high air voids will produce crack sensitive pavement due to oxidation of asphalt or filling the voids by water which will cause striping of aggregate. The asphalt content is important too, where low content will increase stiffness of pavement and high content will increase skidding problems, therefore; the sum of air voids and asphalt content is called Voids in Mineral Aggregate (VMA), where it had been found by several researchers and transportation departments that VMA depends on maximum aggregate size where, for 19 mm maximum aggregate size, VMA is 14% and 13% for 12.5 mm aggregate size. Besides VMA, it had been found that average thickness of asphalt film coating the aggregate of 8 microns will produce durable mixture. VMA limit has not been included in Iraqi standards, therefore, this study focused on collecting literatures on these parameters, analyzing mixtures prepared under current standards to evaluate VMA and film thickness where, for surface course (12.5 mm aggregate size) VMA was 10% and film thickness was 9 microns and for binder course (19 mm aggregate size) VMA was 10% and film thickness was 9.6 microns. The final conclusion was to use VMA and film thickness as parameters in the design of asphaltic mixture as well as current standards and the study included the necessary equations to be used in the calculations of VMA and average film thickness.

A general purpose detector, KLOE, is under construction for operations at the Frascati phi factory, DA Phi NE. Its central mission is the study of direct CP violation in K-0 decays, which places very stringent requirements on electromagnetic shower measurements in the 20-280 MeV/c region. We have chosen to use a lead-scintillator sampling calorimeter, EmC, consisting of very thin (0.5 mm) lead layers in which are embedded 1 mm diameter scintillating fibers. Much prototyping and testing has been done during its design, yielding, for the final EmC, an expected energy resolution of sigma(E)/E similar to 4.4%/root E(GeV) and a time resolution of similar to 46 ps/root E(GeV), with excellent linearity in the region of interest and with little dependence on incidence angle and entry position.

23 pp. (1993)., We present results on calibration runs performed with pions at the CERN SPS for different modules of the H 1 liquid argon calorimeter which consists of an electromagnetic section with lead absorbers and a hadronic section with steel absorbers. The data cover an energy range from 3.7 to 205 GeV. Detailed comparisons of the data and simulation with GHEISHA 8 in the framework of GEANT 3.14 are presented. The measured pion induced shower profiles are well described by the simulation. The total signal of pions on an energy scale determined from electron measurements is reproduced to better than 3% in various module configurations. After application of weighting functions, determined from Monte Carlo data and needed to achieve compensation, the reconstructed measured energies agree with simulation to about 3%. The energies of hadronic showers are reconstructed with a resolution of about ⨸50%√E⨸ 2%. This result is achieved by inclusion of signals from an iron streamer tube tail catcher behind the liquid argon stacks.

61 pp. (1993)., The liquid argon calorimeter of the H 1 detector presently taking data at the HERA ep collider at DESY, Hamburg, is described. The main physics requirements and the most salient design features relevant to this calorimeter are given. The aim to have smooth and hermetic calorimetric coverage over the polar angular range 4° ≤ θ ≤ 154° is achieved by a single liquid argon cryostat containing calorimeter stacks structured in wheels and octants for easy handling. The absorber materials used are lead in the electromagnetic part and stainless steel in the hadronic part. The read-out system is pipelined to reduce the dead time induced by the high trigger rate expected at the HERA collider where consecutive bunches are separated in time by 96 ns. The main elements of the calorimeter, such as the cryostat, with its associated cryogenics, the stack modules, the read-out, calibration and trigger electronics as well as the data acquisition system are described. Performance results from data taken in calibration runs with full size H 1 calorimeter stacks at a CERN test beam, as well as results from data collected with the complete H 1 detector using cosmic rays during the initial phase of ep operations are presented. The observed energy resolutions and linearities are well in agreement with the requirements.

20 pp. (1993)., A measurement of the proton structure function F2 (x, Q2) is presented with about 1000 neutral current deep inelastic scattering events for Bjorken x in the range x ⋍ 10−2– 10−4andQ2> 5GeV2. The measurement is based on an integrated luminosity of 22.5 nb−1 recorded by the H1 detector in the first year of HERA operation. The structure function F2 (x, Q2) shows a significant rise with decreasing x.

14 pp. (1993)., A direct search for new particles in the H1 experiment at HERA is presented for masses ranging from 35 GeV up to ∼ 250 GeV. The data sample of 24 nb−1 accumulated during the first year of operation was analysed for signatures of scalar and vector leptoquarks, leptogluons, excited electrons and excited neutrinos with flavours of the first generation. No evidence for the production of such particles was found in various possible decay channels. Rejection limits are derived.

- Abstract
The Medical Information Department of a pharmaceutical manufacturer provides written scientific responses to unsolicited requests from healthcare providers for information on products that extends beyond the product labeling (off-label). These scientific response documents are non-promotional, evidence-based, and scientifically balanced, conforming with internal pharmaceutical manufacturer's procedures and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Draft Guidance on Responding to Unsolicited Requests for Off-Label Information. Members of phactMI™ developed this proposal to offer best practices for content generation of scientific response documents. Scientific response documents review available literature to respond to an unsolicited request; therefore, they are similar in nature to systematic reviews. The sections and elements identified in this proposed best practice guidelines for scientific response documents are based on an adaptation of the sections and elements of systematic reviews. The sections of a scientific response document should include a restatement of the unsolicited request (title); a structured summary (abstract); approved indications, black box warnings, and background information when appropriate (introduction); the literature search information and study selection (methods); summation of data from clinical trials, meta-analysis, case reports, and/or real world evidence, as appropriate (results); treatment guidelines, if applicable and available (discussion); and references. Elements for each section should be included in a scientific response document as appropriate, as some elements are not necessary in some documents, based on the question. These elements were selected for inclusion to address any potential concerns of bias and transparency and reflect the intent that scientific response documents should be non-promotional, accurate, truthful, free of commercial bias, scientifically balanced, and evidence based.
