Volume 1 presents a summary of the entire study. The objective of each of the seven tasks is presented. The baseline vehicles and missions selected in Task 1 - Selection of Vehicles and Missions, are briefly described. The major activities performed under Task 2 - Vehicle Design Extensions and Subsystem Analysis, are reviewed. Special problem analyses performed under Task 3 - Extension of Subsystem Analyses are discussed. The approach and results summary are presented for Task 4 - Determination of Subsystem Requirements. The conclusions are reviewed for the principal task of the study, Task 5 - Reusability of Existing Hardware. Summary conclusions are presented regarding hardware availability. The subsystem approaches selected under Task 6 - Subsystem Tradeoff Evaluations, are discussed. A summary listing and discussion is presented of the selected advanced technology, engineering development, and general programs resulting from Task 7 - Advanced Technology Recommendations., See also Volume 2, Part A, AD-506 593.

Volume II, Parts A (AD 506 593) and B, contains the details of the approaches, analyses, evaluations, results, and conclusions from the performance of the seven tasks: Task 1 - Selection of Vehicles and Missions; Task 2 - Vehicle Design Extension; Task 3 - Extension of Subsystem Analyses; Task 4 - Determination of Subsystem Requirements; Task 5 - Reusability of Existing Hardware; Task 6 - Subsystem Tradeoffs; and Task 7 - Advanced Technology Recommendations. Task 1 presents the detailed definition of the baseline vehicles and missions. Task 2 provides a detailed description of the subsystems and presents analyses and evaluations of these. Task 3 indicates the results of the examination of certain problems related to reusable vehicles and their operations. Task 4 provides the detailed requirements derived for the subsystems with regard to total active and inactive life, component cycles, acceptable leakages, and acceleration loadings. Task 5 presents the results of the examination of the identified subsystem components and their requirements with the objective of determining if currently existing hardware is applicable. Task 6 indicates the selected subsystems and the reasons for their selection. Finally, Task 7 provides the selected technology programs and presents relative priorities for their accomplishment. This volume provides supplemental data by way of appendixes to the task presented in Volume II AD-506 593, and AD-506 594. These appendixes include a Technology Summary, A Proposed Specification for Reusable Propulsion Components and Feed System, and Stress Analysis of Reusable Propellant Tanks. The Technology Summary presents a listing and information regarding previous technology programs in the areas of: integrated propulsion systems, cryogenic pressurization, cryogenic reaction control systems, propellant feed lines, liquid propellant tankage, propellant orientation and acquisition, inflight propellant conditioning, and space vehicle fluorine systems. The proposed specifications include a Proposed General Specification for Rocket Propulsion Fluid System Components and a Proposed General Specification for Rocket Propulsion Propellant Feed System, each obtained by modification of existing specifications. The stress analyses are presented for Reusable Launch Vehicle Propellant Tanks, Structural Analysis of Unsymmetric Fuel Tanks, and Symmetric Propellant Tanks., See also Volume 4, AD-506 596L.
