Thermal power plants in various fields of application are regularly adapted to the latest emission standards, applying the "Best Available Techniques Reference". In recent years, new, stricter limit values have been in force in the power plant sector for power plant units with a thermal output of more than 300 MW that are operated with hard coal. In order to achieve the new limits, e.g. for NOX emissions, downstream reduction processes (Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction, SNCR or Selective Catalytic Reduction) are usually used, which causes an increase of operating fluids (essentially ammonia water). With an experimentally validated and patented process in which pulverized fuel is fed by oscillation via a swirl burner into a pilot combustion chamber, nitrogen oxides can be reduced without further measures, for example from 450 mg/mN³ in non-oscillation mode (0 Hz) to 280 mg/ mN³ in oscillation mode (3.5 Hz), normalized to an O2 content of 6 % in each case. Particularly promising are the experiments that use the oscillation of part of the burnt-out air (combustion gas) instead of the fuel in order to minimize, e.g., the wear of the oscillator. The present results show that fuel oscillation alone is not sufficient to achieve nitrogen oxide concentrations below the values specified by the legislator. Therefore, a combination of different primary (and secondary) measures is required. This paper presents experimental results on oscillating coal-dust firing based on a novel expert model. Detailed information on flame stability determination is presented in the accepted paper for INFUB 2022 "A camera-based flame stability controller for non-oscillating and oscillating combustion".

Als Ergebnis der breiten politischen Befürwortung für die Energiewende und des stetig wachsenden Bestands an Windenergieanlagen (WEA) in Deutschland und Europa gewinnen Fragen der Wartung, Laufzeitverlängerung sowie des Anlagenrückbaus und Recyclings an Bedeutung. Eine besondere Herausforderung stellt dabei das Rotorblattrecycling mit ihren glasfaserverstärkten (GFK) und carbonfaserverstärkten (CFK) Anlagenteilen dar. Die für diese Materialien existierenden Recyclingprozesse haben sich noch nicht durchgesetzt und der Wiedereinsatz der recyclierten Materialien ist in der Breite nicht etabliert. Weiterhin mangelt es an Standards für die Demontage und werkstoffliche Aufbereitung dieser Materialien. Zentraler Forschungsgegenstand war die Entwicklung von Standards für eine möglichst hochwertige und gleichzeitig wirtschaftlich zumutbare Aufbereitungs- und Behandlungsstrategie für Rotorblätter. Ausgehend von den zu erwartenden Abfallmengen und - arten und des speziellen Aufbaus und der Zusammensetzung der verschiedenen Rotorblätter wurde ein vollständiges und schlüssiges Konzept für deren Wartungen, Reparatur, Demontage, Vorzerkleinerung und Aufbereitung erarbeitet. Darauf basierend wurde die Organisationsverantwortung aus rechtlicher Sicht geprüft und mögliche erforderlicher, ergänzender materiell-rechtlicher Vorgaben vorgeschlagen. Auch Elemente der abfallwirtschaftlichen Produktverantwortung wurden auf Zweckmäßigkeit geprüft und bewertet. Die Studie beschreibt damit ein erstes umfassendes technisches, rechtliches und organisatorisches Recyclingkonzept für Rotorblätter.

Mit der stetig wachsenden Nachfrage nach Carbonfasern (CF) und carbonfaserverstärkten Kunststoffen (CFK) steigt die Menge der CFK-Abfälle, die am Ende ihrer Lebensdauer verwertet werden müssen. Die Kenntnis der Abhängigkeiten des Zerkleinerungsverhaltens von CF von ihren mechanischen Eigenschaften, unter Berücksichtigung der möglichen Erzeugung und Freisetzung von lungengängigen Faserfragmenten (WHO-Fasern) während der Zerkleinerung, ist essentiell für alle optionalen Verwertungsverfahren. Zu diesem Zweck wurde eine Auswertungsroutine entwickelt, die aus einer Probenvorbereitung der gemahlenen CF, der Bilderzeugung durch optische Digitalmikroskopie, der automatischen Bildanalyse und der Datennachbearbeitung besteht. In dieser Studie wurden drei verschiedene CF auf Basis von Polyacrylnitril und eine auf Basis von Mesophasenpech in einer Planetenkugelmühle bei ausgewählten spezifischen Energieeinträgen unter Variation der Drehzahl und der Mahldauer zerkleinert und das Zerkleinerungsverhalten mit den mechanischen Fasereigenschaften (Zugfestigkeit, Elastizitätsmodul) verglichen. In einer weiteren Versuchsreihe wurden dieselben CF vor der mechanischen Zerkleinerung pyrolysiert, um den Einfluss der Schlichte auf das Zerkleinerungsverhalten der CF zu bestimmen. Die Versuche zeigten, dass der Einfluss der Schlichte auf das Zerkleinerungsverhalten von CF deutlich größer ist als der der Zugfestigkeit und des Elastizitätsmoduls. Zu erwähnen ist, dass bei allen Zerkleinerungsversuchen lungengängige Faserfragmente entstanden sind, was im Hinblick auf die Gesundheitsgefährdung bei der mechanischen Behandlung von CF zu berücksichtigen ist.

These findings were patented in EP3084300. Particularly promising are the experiments which utilize oscillation of a large portion of the burn out air instead of the fuel in order to minimize the fatigue of the pulverized fuel oscillator, amongst others. Thereby, the nitrogen conversion rate, which describes the ratio of NOX to fuel nitrogen, including thermal NOX can be reduced from 26% for non-oscillation operation mode down to 16%. The present findings show that fuel oscillation alone is not sufficient to achieve nitrogen oxides concentrations below the legislative values. Therefore, a combination of different primary (and secondary) measures is required. This paper presents the experimental results for oscillating coal-dust firing. Furthermore, an expert model based on a multivariate regression is developed to evaluate the experimental results.

Ziel der vorliegenden Diplomarbeit war es, das psychologisch-diagnostische Verfahren LAMBDA-neu mittels Extremgruppen zu validieren. Zu diesem Zweck wurden zwei Extremgruppen identifiziert: „Lernende“ Wissenschaften, diese Extremgruppe setzte sich aus acht StudentInnen der Medizin und Rechtswissenschaften zusammen, und „Verstehende“ Wissenschaften, hierzu zählten acht StudentInnen der Mathematik, Chemie und Informatik. Diesen beiden Gruppen wurden in Einzeltestungen die Verfahren LAMBDA-neu und Syllogismen 2010 vorgegeben. Die anschließende Auswertung mit dem Computerprogramm CADEMO TRIQ, mit dem ein sequentieller Dreieckstest gerechnet wurde, zeigte, dass bei allen zuvor aufgestellten Hypothesen die Nullhypothese zum Tragen kam. Aufgrund dieser Ergebnisse kann gesagt werden, dass die angestrebte Extremgruppenvalidierung von LAMBDA-neu nicht gelungen ist., The aim of the following study was an extreme group validation of the psychological diagnostic test LAMBDA-neu. For this purpose two groups were specified: “Lernende” sciences and “Verstehende” sciences. “Lernende” sciences means, that the students in this group learn primarly by memorizing and the students in the group “Verstehende” sciences use appreciation as their overriding learning strategy. Eight medicine and law students as well as eight mathematics, chemistry and informatics students were tested with LAMBDA-neu and the psychological diagnostic test Syllogismen 2010. The following analyses with CADEMO TRIQ, which compute a sequential triangular test, conclude that the extreme group validation of LAMBDA-neu was not successful.

With the Paris Climate Agreement EU aims to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases by at least 40% by 2030 compared to 1990. In order to achieve this goal the importance of biomass as a solid, lumpy fuel increases steadily. In Germany the substitution of fossil fuels by biomass in heat generation saves 15.7 Mio.t CO2-equivalent yearly. However, the combustion of biomass results in emissions of NOx, fine particles and CO. Since these emissions equally harm humans and environment, their limit values are regularly tightened by the legislature. Hence, in order to minimize the emissions, new and innovative solutions are needed. One possible primary measure for NOx-emissions reduction is the oscillating supply of the secondary air in a staged combustion, which was applied in this work. With the help of this technological approach the study targets the reduction of NOx-emissions down to concentrations below the required maximum permissible values according the German emission standard for clean air. At the Institute for Technical Chemistry (ITC) experiments in a batch-operated reactor have been carried out, in which the combustion behavior of solid fuel discharges as well as the conversion of the formed flue gas under different oxidizing conditions were investigated. If the fuel is burnt sub-stoichiometric in the primary stage, through oscillation of the secondary air supplied to the post-combustion chamber above the fuel bed, the NOx-concentration can be reduced by as much as 40% compared to the non-oscillating operation mode. However, this requires homogeneous conversion of the solid fuel during the primary stage. Complementary to the experiments 3D-combustion modelling of the fuel transformation and nitrogen oxide formation after the secondary air supply to the post-combustion chamber of the reactor have been carried out at LEAT. For the NOx-formation modelling the Eddy-Dissipation-Concept (EDC) combined with In-Situ-Tabulation (ISAT) and a detailed kinetics were applied. The NOx-formation in the lab-reactor was successfully simulated and the results overlap well with the experiments.
