Abstract

Nagasari Volcano, part of the Dieng volcanic complex, is one of the unique volcanoes in Central Java. Around this volcano grow eruption craters, volcanic cones, and pyroclastic flow ridges. There were several 14 eruption centers around Mount Nagasari, so it is necessary to know the development of magmatism evolution. The aims of the research to determine the evolutionary development of magmatism. The methodology used is geological mapping and petrographic analysis. The observations of rocks found in the study area include andesite lava, lapilli-tuff, fallen pyroclastic breccias, and flow pyroclastic breccias. Meanwhile, geological mapping and petrographic observations of volcanic rock samples show that the evolution of magmatism in the study area from the oldest to the youngest is basaltic magma that formed Prau Volcano in the pre-caldera period. On the other hand, magmatism in the post-caldera I period was of the type of pyroxene andesite forming the Gembol to Jimat Volcano group. In contrast, in the post-caldera II period, the hornblende-biotite andesite group formed the Dieng Kulon to Kendil group.

Abstract

The Rembang Zone of the North East Java Basin is a zone that develops as a petroleum system and is one of the areas with Indonesia’s largest oil reserves. One of the lithologies in the Rembang Zone is a sedimentary rock carbonated as a marker of marine sediments. The outcrop is continuous and rich in trace fossils, especially in the Ledok and Selorejo Formations. The existence of trace fossil outcrops is crucial for the learning process of earth science, biology, and other sciences, but recently these outcrops have been closed and have become damaged.  Their numbers are decreasing due to community mining activities, so unique research on trace fossils in the Rembang Zone must be done immediately. This research aims to discover the variation of trace fossils found in the Selorejo Formation. The methods used are field mapping, measured stratigraphic measurements, rock sampling, and laboratory analysis (sedimentology, petrography, and paleontology). The research shows trace fossils in Planolites, Helminthopsis, Thalassinoides, Conichnus, Chondrites, Macaronichnus, Bergauria, Ophiomorpha, Skolithos, Terebellina, Palaeophycus, and Asterosoma.

Abstract

Dieng is a plateau with an elevation of ±2000m consists of several volcanic edifices, known Dieng Volcanic Complex (DVC). DVC is the backarc-side of the NW-SE across-arc Quaternary Volcanoes. DVC has a potential location for learning about volcanoes. The potential locations include Sheeted Lava in Sikunir, Mount Pakuwaja, Mount Kendil, Watu Lancip, Telaga Merdada, and Mount Batur. Autobreccia Lava Mount Prau. Petarangan Mountain Massive Lava. Cebong Lake, Sedringo Lake, Color Lake. Viewpoint. Pangonan Mountain Savanna, Lumping Waterfall. Hotspring in Sikidang, Sileri, Sipandu, Bitingan, and Candradimuka. Also found geothermal manifestations, includes Mount Pagerkandang fumarole and Sibanger Crater. The methodology used in this study is section/profile, outcrop observation, petrographic analysis, and literature study. This study aims to provide insight into potential locations as Geoheritage and places to learn about volcanoes. Abstract

Nannofossil analyses of this study was carried out of Kalibeng river section, Plandaan, Jombang, east Java. This study included of the Kendeng Zone, East Jawa Basin. This research method through 2 section of the Measurement Section, and sampling a number of 32 samples. Analysis used of smear slide and Scanning Electron Microscope analysis. The result of the analysis of there are twelve genera and forty-three species. The stratigraphy of this area consists of 3 lithostratigraphic units, namely from old to young: Marl Unit of Kalibeng Foramtion (CNM20-CNPL6/Late Miocene to Early Pliocene), Calcareous Sandstone Unit of Sonde Formation (CNPL6-CNPL8/Late Pliocene to Pleistocene), and Calcareous claystone unit of Sonde Formation (CNPL9-CNPL10/CNPL11?/Pleistocene. The nanoplankton biostratigraphic zone are arranged into 11 zones consisting of 2 Partial Zones, 10 Interval Zones. Development of sedimentation rate (RoS) of this study, there are 11 periods. The periods are (1) CNM20 Zone/Late Miocene to Early Pliocene /1.4 cm/ky), (2) CNPL1 Zone /Early Pliocene (8.44 cm/ky), (3) CNPL2 Zone/Early Pliocene (9.7 cm/ky), (4) CNPL3 Zone/Late Miocene-Early Pliocene (90.91 cm/ky), (5) CNPL4 Zone / Late Miocene-Early Pliocene (4,26 cm/ky), (6) CNPL5 Zone/Middle-Late Pliocene (8.57 cm/ky), (7) CNPL6Zone /Late Pliocene (13,26 cm/ky), (8) CNPL7 Zone/ Late Pliocene to Early Pleistocene (14.95 cm/ky), (9) CNPL8 zone /Early Pleistocene (26.42 cm/ky), (10) CNPL9 Zone/Early Pleistocene (3.11 cm/ky) (11) CNPL10 Zone/Early-Middle Pleistocene (1.34 cm/ky). In this study there is a fast sedimentation process, namely in the CNPL3 Zone which has a sedimentation rate of (90.91cm/ky), very thick thickness sedimentasion (200 m) and with a short time duration of (0.22 my). Abstract

The magma evolution of Ngebel Volcano, both temporally and spatially, is represented by the characteristics of its lava. Ngebel Volcano, located in East Java, is a Quaternary andesitic stratovolcano. This volcano is part of the Wilis Volcanic Complex. The volcanism stage of Ngebel Volcanic Complex can be divided into the Jeding with andesitic basalt (SiO2 49 - 59%), pyroxene andesite Kemlandingan (SiO2 49 - 59%), Manyutan with hornblende andesite (SiO2 49 - 59%), and Ngebel with dacite (SiO2: 49 - 59%). The variation of major elements combined with petrographic features such as plagioclase, pyroxene, hornblende, quartz, and opaque minerals from basaltic andesite to dacite is interesting. The minerals show that the magma differentiation process of Ngebel Volcanic Complex is the results of fractional crystallization of magma. The purpose of this study is to determine the evolution of magma from volcanic rocks of which stratigraphic positions have been determined. The analytical methodology used is petrographic and geochemical analysis. Detailed temporal evolution shows that magma from the Ngebel Volcanic Complex underwent a differentiation process that changed the magma composition from mafic to more felsic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
