The current study aimed to develop a standardized scale for clothing preferences for adolescents. Moreover, the mediating role of self-esteem would be explored in the relationship between clothing preferences and self-concept among adolescents. 200 adolescents, both males and females participated through the convenient sampling technique. The Fashion in Clothing Preference Scale FCPS (constructing scale), Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965) and Self-concept scale (Malhotra, 1981) were used to explore the key relationships. Study findings revealed that the Fashion in Clothing Scale carries three factors regarding Self-Reflection, Self-Satisfaction and Self-Acceptance with the variances of 43.18%, 9.37% and 7.43% respectively. Moreover, the self-esteem is acting as full mediator between the relationship of Clothing Preferences and selfconcept of individuals. Drug abuse is an enduring and chronic lifestyle disorder and relapse rate to drug abuse is high, and its negative impact on individuals, families and society is severe. Family functioning has a significant impact on the beginning and maintenance of substance use. Psychological capital is an effective protective factor against substance abuse. The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between family functioning and relapse among drug addict in Pakistan as well as the focused on mediating effect of psychological capital. Three scales translated into Urdu language including Advanced Warnings of Relapse Questionnaire (Sahar & Naqvi, 2020), Family Assessment Device (Epstein et al., 1983), and Psychological Capital Questionnaire (Luthans et al., 2007) along with informed consent and demographic sheet were administered on 150 male drug addicts of age 18 years above admitted for treatment in different Rehabilitation Centers of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Results of current study demonstrated negative correlation between family functioning and warning of relapse. It was also concluded that psychological capital and relapse have negative relation with each other. Findings also revealed that psychological capital and family functioning have positive relation with each other. Outcomes showed mediating role of psychological capital between family functioning and relapse. Another outcome indicates that young drug addicts are more prone to relapse as compared to individuals of middle and late adult age. The present study was aimed to investigate the relationship of social isolation and illness perception with posttraumatic growth and psychological distress among coronavirus affected individuals along with the moderating role of social support. Cross-sectional research design was employed for the present study. The sample consisted of 300 individuals affected by COVID-19 and later recovered. For data collection, the major areas of Chakwal were selected. Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10; Kessler, 2002) Illness Perception Scale (Moss-Morris, 2002), Interpersonal Support Evaluation List (Cohen & Hoberman, 1983), Social Connectedness Scale-Revised (Lee & Robbins, 1995), and Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (Tedeschi & Calhoun, 1996) were used to measure the study variables. The findings of the present study indicated that social isolation has a significant positive correlation with posttraumatic growth; however, it has nonsignificant correlation with psychological distress. Moreover, illness perception has a significant positive correlation with psychological distress whereas a nonsignificant correlation with posttraumatic growth. Similarly, illness perception positively predicted psychological distress while negatively predicted posttraumatic growth. Where social isolation positively predicted posttraumatic growth, social support did not significantly moderate between the study variables. The finding of the study shed light on the positive aspect of COVID-19 as observing social isolation during the disease positively predicts posttraumatic growth among the patients. Background & objectives: Mosquitoes transmit diseases to >700 million people annually. Malaria kills threemillion persons every year, including one child every 30 sec. Worldwide there are >3000 mosquito species.In Iraq, 37 species have been identified in different surveys over several decades. We conducted an entomologicalsurvey to determine the mosquito species and their distribution in Iraq in 2009.Methods: Between January 20 and December 31, 2009, mosquitoes in houses in 12 Iraqi provinces werecollected and speciated. Five to 10 villages were selected randomly in each province and in each village 10houses were selected randomly to collect mosquitoes and the density of mosquitoes per room was calculated.Kits for entomological investigation were used and the collected mosquitoes were sent to the vector bornedisease section laboratory for classification using the Naval Medical Research Unit 3 standard classificationkey.Results: A total of 29,156 mosquitoes were collected, representing two genera: Anopheles (n=13,268, or 46%of the total collected) and Culex (n=15,888, or 54% of the total collected). Four Anopheles (An. pulcherrimus,An. stephensi, An. superpictus, and An. sacharovi) and one Culex (Cx. pipiens) species were identified. Anophelespulcherrimus was found in 11 provinces, An. stephensi in 7, An. superpictus in 2 and An. sacharovi in oneprovince, while Cx. pipiens was found in all the 12 provinces. Two peaks of mosquito density were found: thefirst from April–June and the other from September–October.Interpretation & conclusion: There are clear differences in Anopheles mosquito species geographical distributionand density among Iraqi provinces, while Cx. pipiens mosquitoes are distributed all over Iraq. All mosquitogenera show clear seasonal density variation. The study highlights that the manual mosquito classification isnot enough to identify all the species of mosquitoes in Iraq

Apparent drug penetration by skin was non-invasively using light monitored reflectance at 632.8 nm. The method uses a commercially available low-power He-Ne laser device and a multimode optical fibre. Specially designed Perspex light pipe was used to monitor light reflected from the skin. Five creams and ointments having different composition and clinical application purpose were investigated. It was found that apparent drug penetration by skin depends considerably on the type and application of the drug and the type and the location of the skinâ€s testing area. The time-dependent penetration of the drug into skin was characterized by two slopes. A positive slope attributed to drug penetration into skin and a negative slope attributed to absorption of the drug by the microcirculation. By using visible He-Ne laser light, the absorption of the drug into deeper skin layers can be followed. The time of maximum drug absorption (maximum reflectance) was found to be between 3 and 12 minutes. This method may be easily applied for drug penetration follow-up studies and drug modeling.

The present study intended to develop and validate queen bee syndrome perception inventory among female employees in Islamabad, Pakistan. The scale was developed through successive three parts. In study I, 50 items were generated while reviewing relevant books, journals, and internet to explore eminent research data bases including; SpringerLink, J. Store, Taylor & Fransis and Elsevier for latest literature. As a result of group discussions and subject matter expert opinions, the number of items was reduced to 27. In study II items were assessed for their content validity, comprehension and understanding by potential participants. In Study III the sample of 200 female employees were recruited from; International Islamic University, Bahria University, Air University & FAST University in Islamabad. A Principal Component Analysis was carried out using varimax rotation. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measure of sampling adequacy was also determined and Bartlett's test of sphericity showed significant values indicating suitability for running a factor analysis. Resultantly, final instrument comprised of 18 items two dimensions i.e., resentment and nonprofessional attitude. Additionally, the instrument was correlated with constructs perceived organizational support in order to establish discriminant validity and autocratic leadership style in order to establish convergent validity. Hypothyroidism is a common health problem associated with a reduced metabolic rate. Osteopontin is a soluble acidic glycoprotein found in all body fluids. Its ability to interact with ubiquitously communicated cell surface receptors makes, it an active part of numerous pathological and physiological cycles. The current study has been conducted about the association between Osteopontin and Hypothyroidism and whether Ostopontin is linked with vitamin D in Iraqi Hypothyroid patients. 75 participants were enrolled in this study. Moreover, divided into two groups, the patients' group comprises 50 serum samples of hypothyroid patients aged from 20 to 70 years, and the control group consists of 25 healthy individuals aged between 20 and 60 years. The level of Osteopontin (OPN) in serum was determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit. The serum levels of (TSH, T3, T4 and vitamin D) were determined by the Paramagnetic Particle Chemiluminescent immunoassay technique (CLIA) using the IFLASH instrument. The OPN, vitamin D, TSH, and thyroid hormones levels showed significant variance between the patients and control group (P<0.001). According to these results, Osteopontin was significantly elevated in hypothyroid patients, which can be considered a diagnostic marker for Hypothyroidism. This paper summarises the findings of a doctoral study by Khatwani (2016), which explored the experiences and perception of professional women about their social status, autonomy and respectability. The secondary data, particularly taken from research papers, have been employed for this research. Historically, prevalence of women's subordination to their men has been traced across the globe but in various forms and different levels of subservience. They were not merely subordinated but humiliated, exploited, discriminated, and controlled as commodity. Even in 21st century, women are not treated equally either they are living in highly developed societies or in developing theocratic/traditional societies. Most of sociologists, anthropologists and social researchers are agreed to the argument that a woman's subservience is principally embedded in well-structured system of patriarchy. Therefore, the most of research studies on this subject have explored the association of patriarchy and women's subordination. The term feminism used in 18th century for women's movement for their equal position in society. The development of feminist theories and later on diversity within feminist thoughts regarding gender equality gave birth to different types of feminism. However, the patriarchy has been the central point of behind the subordination of women. Employing the critically qualitative approach, the paper attempts to critically review the different feminist approaches to understanding patriarchy, and how they have been helpful as theoretical framework in addressing hypothetical dimensions of patriarchy, which exhibits in various forms from public to private in almost all societies. Objective To determine the percentage reduction in modified MASI score with combination of microneedling and tranexamic acid in patients of melasma. Methods This descriptive case series involved 66 patients of both genders aged 18-40 years having moderate to severe melasma. These patients were treated by microneedling with tranexamic acid at 0, 4 and 8 weeks. Baseline modified MASI scores at 0 weeks was calculated and outcome was evaluated after 12 weeks in the form of percentage reduction in the initial modified MASI scores, both clinically and photographically. Response was graded as excellent (>75% reduction), very good (50-74%), good (25-49%) and fair (<25%). Results A total of 66 patients with moderate to severe melasma were enrolled. Majority of the patients (53%) showed very good response, 41% had good response, 4.5% had excellent response while only 1.5% patients showed fair response. No serious side effects were noted. chronic renal failure (CRF) is a disease that have impact of a multiple systematic organs in human body specially hearts, hormones, etc. The present study was carried out to appraise the possible correlation between Nterminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-ProBNP) and prolactin (PRL) levels in sera of Iraqi patients with chronic renal failure). The investigation populace included (90) subjects, among them (60) patients with chronic renal failure and (30) sound people that filled in as control gathering. NT-ProBNP was estimated by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) while PRL hormone was measured by Immulite 1000 system, chemiluminescent immunometric assay. in this study we found a highly significant (P<0.01) increase in the levels of NT-ProBNP and prolactin in patients group compared with control group also we found a positive correlation between NT-ProBNP and prolactin hormone in patients group. This study concluded that there is a strong relationship between the NT-ProBNP and prolactin hormone, which was statistically significant correlations among them, as the levels of NT-ProBNP increased the levels of prolactin hormone increased in patients with chronic renal failure. The study was conducted using Japanese quail flock to investigate the effect of genetic selection for egg mass production of dams on the meat production performance in their offspring. Base population consist of 100 females, individually evaluated for weekly egg mass production, and according to their records the genetic selection procedure performed to establish four groups namely, high egg mass, mediate egg mass, low egg mass and control group with no selection practice. The males randomly distributed to the groups using male for each two females. The progeny for each group reared for six weeks of age with three replicates and the meat production traits recorded. The results showed significant differences in live body weight at one day, 4 and 5 weeks of age, while the differences among groups in body weight disappeared at sixth week of age. There were significant reduction in feed intake in control group compared with other groups, and there were no significant differences between control and high egg mass groups. The results conclude that there is a good choice to practice selection for high egg mass selection to produce dual purpose flock for egg and meat production. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective To study the outcome of microneedling combined with 35% focal trichloroacetic acid peeling in post acne atrophic scars. Methods This study was conducted in department of dermatology, unit 1, Jinnah hospital, Lahore. A total of 90 patients with Goodman Baron grade 2, 3 & 4 post acne atrophic scars were included in the study. All patients were treated with microneedling alternating with trichloroacetic acid focal peel via CROSS technique at 2 weekly intervals. Results Combination therapy with microneedling followed by trichloroacetic acid peeling resulted in improvement of 1 grade in 93.3% patients with grade 3 and 4 post acne atrophic scars regardless of the age, gender, duration and type of scar and the baseline grade of scarring. There was statistically no significant difference in the frequencies of improvement across various subgroups of patients based on patient's age (p-value=0.731), gender (p-value=0.461), duration of disease (pvalue= 0.777), type of scar (p-value=0.899) and baseline Goodman and Baron Grade (pvalue= 0.821). Conclusion Combination therapy of microneedling followed by trichloroacetic acid peeling resulted in improvement of 1 grade in 93.3% patients with grade 3 and 4 post acne atrophic scars.
