The aim of the study was to detect H. pylori antigens in the stool in symptomatic patients and to observe changes in the antigen test results following H. pylori eradication therapy.Methods: A prospective study was conducted. Blood, urine and stool samples were collected from 62 dyspeptic patients. Anti-H. pylori IgM and IgG antibodies were detected in the serum by ELISA, anti-H. pylori IgG antibodies were detected in the urine by ICT and H. pylori antigens were detected in the stool by ELISA. Among the 62 patients, 39 (62.90%) were positive with all three methods. These 39 patients were asked to complete a 2-week course of medication and return after 6 weeks following completion of therapy to undergo repeated tests. In total, 3 dropped out of the study.Results: Among the 62 dyspeptic patients, 41 (66.13%) were positive for serum IgG according to ELISA, 39 (62.90%) were positive for urine IgG according to ICT, 8 (12.90%) were positive for serum IgM according to ELISA, and 42 (67.74%) were positive for HpSA according to ELISA. After eradication therapy, 18 (50.00%) patients were positive for serum IgG, 19 (52.78%) were positive for urine IgG, 4 (11.11%) were positive for serum IgM and 5 (13.88%) were positive for HpSA. The difference in HpSA positivity before and after eradication therapy was statistically significant (P < 0.05).Conclusion: This study involved non-invasive procedures that can be used as first-line screening tools for the detection of active H. pylori infection to observe the role of HpSA test in diagnosis and assessment of prognosis following eradication therapy for H. pylori.Keywords: H. pylori, RAPIRUN, ELISA, prognosis, HpSA

Introduction: Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is an important cultured fish that is widely distributed in Bangladesh. This study was conducted to improve the growth performance and nutrient contents of the fish using five different types of feeds. Methods: Tilapia fingerlings were fed two types of commercial fish feeds (Feed-1 and Feed-2), Spirulina flakes (Feed-3), Feed-2 mixed with Spirulina flakes (Feed-4) and manually mixed feed made from a mixture of mustard oil cake and rice bran (Feed-5). After 4 weeks of being fed with the diets, growth parameters and meat nutrient composition of the tilapia fingerlings were recorded. Results: Significant growth in length and weight was observed in juvenile tilapia fish fed with commercial Feed-1 only, while growth performance varied significantly among fingerlings fed other types of feeds. Body tissue calcium (92.8 mg/100g), iron (1.29mg/100g) was higher in fishes fed with dry Spirulina flakes (Feed 3), while the highest amount of zinc (2.09 mg/100g) was recorded in fishes fed Feed-5. Protein (13.32%) content was highest in fish fed Feed-2 mixed with Spirulina flakes (Feed-4). Conclusion: Meat nutritional quality of tilapia can be improved by combining commercial feeds with Spirulina flakes, compared with feeding commercial feeds in isolation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: This study provides a head-to-head comparison of the protection provided by the BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273 vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 infection and against severe COVID-19, covering primary series and third dose/booster vaccinations over up to 3 years of follow-up, both before and after the emergence of the omicron variant., Methods: Two national, matched, retrospective cohort studies were conducted on Qatar's vaccinated population from December 16, 2020, to February 18, 2024. Subgroup analyses by pre-vaccination SARS-CoV-2 infection history, as well as sensitivity analyses, were also conducted., Results: The adjusted hazard ratio (AHR) comparing infection incidence in those vaccinated with BNT162b2 versus mRNA-1273 was 1.03 (95% CI: 1.02-1.05) after the primary series and 1.11 (95% CI: 1.09-1.13) after the third (booster) dose. The corresponding AHRs for any severe, critical, or fatal COVID-19 were 1.31 (95% CI: 0.81-2.11) and 1.00 (95% CI: 0.20-4.94), respectively. Subgroup analyses by prior infection status hinted at a dose-dependent immune imprinting effect, where a combination of two types of immunity, pre-omicron and omicron, offered greater protection against infection than one type alone, with this effect being amplified by the higher antigen dose of mRNA-1273 compared to BNT162b2. Sensitivity analyses confirmed the study findings., Conclusions: BNT162b2 provided slightly less protection against infection than mRNA-1273 following both primary series and booster vaccinations while offering comparable protection against severe COVID-19 outcomes. The findings suggested that the vaccine antigen dose in interaction with infection history may determine the extent of immune protection against infection., (© 2024 The Author(s). Microalgae, a versatile source of biofuels, chemicals, and nutraceuticals, necessitates efficient drying for subsequent applications. Extensive studies have been done on the benefits and uses of microalgae, but very few are focusing on drying. This research focused on a specific microalga, Chlorella vulgaris , to analyze the drying kinetics involved in the moisture removal process. Data on drying behavior were collected using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). As the temperature rose, the moisture content of the biomass rapidly decreased and peaked between 65 and 80 °C. From four widely used drying kinetics models, which are typically used to analyze the drying kinetics of agricultural goods, four non-isothermal drying models were derived. These models were assessed using the coefficient of determination (R 2 ) and reduced chi-square (χ 2 ). Page's model emerged as the best fit for describing drying kinetics. This study introduces a novel approach to characterize the intrinsic properties of freshly harvested Chlorella vulgaris by employing TGA and DSC.
