Abstract

Denial of service attack is one of the most devastating and ruinous attacks on the internet. The attack can be performed by flooding the victim's machine with any kind of packets. Throughout all these years many methods have been proposed to reduce the impact, but with machines of higher capabilities coming in, the attack has also become more potent, and these proposals are either less effective or less efficient. A DoS attack exhausts the victim's resources affecting the availability of the resource. This paper will be comparing a few methods that have been proposed and published in various papers along with a newly proposed method. The comparison of the methods is done on a number of parameters including resource utilization, reaction time, worst case scenarios, etc. This paper also checks the viability of these methods over various layers of the network. Concluding with the best aspects of all the papers and the best among these for the current real conditions.

Abstract

A 3D turbulent melt flow and solidification of an aluminum alloy (AA-1050) for an industrial-sized direct chill slab casting process is modeled. The melt is delivered through a rectangular submerged nozzle and a non-deformable combo bag fitted with a bottom porous filter. The non-Darcian model, incorporating the Brinkman and Forchheimer extensions, is used to characterize the turbulent melt flow behavior passing through the porous filter. The casting speed and the effective heat transfer coefficient at the metal–mold contact region within the mold are varied. Abstract

A 3D control-volume based finite-difference model has been developed to simulate coupled turbulent melt flow and solidification phenomena for a semi-continuous direct chill slab casting of an aluminum alloy (AA-1050). The model considered an open-top melt delivery system for a hot-top mold. The model was verified with the experimental solidification front measurements and a reasonable agreement was found. The computations were carried out by varying important process parameters such as casting speed, inlet melt superheat, and mold–metal contact effective heat transfer coefficient in order to understand their effects on the solidification and cooling behavior of AA-1050. 48. Industrial Direct Chill Slab Caster of Tin Bronze (C903) Using a Porous Filter in the Hot-Top

Abstract

A 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling study has been carried out for the tin bronze (C903) slab of industrial size in a vertical direct chill caster. The melt is delivered from the top across the entire cross section of the caster. An insulated hot-top is considered above the 80-mm mold to control the melt level in the mold. A porous filter is considered in the hot-top region of the mold to arrest the incoming inclusions and homogenize the flow into the mold. The melt flow through the porous filter is modeled on the basis of the Brinkmann–Forchheimer-extended non-Darcy model. Results are obtained for four casting speeds varying from 40 to 100 mm/min. The metal–mold contact region, as well as the convective heat transfer coefficient at the mold wall, is also varied. In addition to the above, the Darcy number for the porous media is also changed. All parametric studies are performed for a fixed inlet melt superheat of 62 °C. The results are presented pictorially in the form of temperature and velocity fields. The sump depth, mushy region thickness, solid shell thickness (ST) at the exit of the mold, and axial temperature profiles are also presented and correlated with the casting speed through regression analysis.
