Present-day software development faces three major challenges: complexity, time consumption, and high costs. Developing large software systems often requires battalions of teams and considerable time for meetings, which end without any action, resulting in unproductive cycles, delayed progress, and increased cost. What if, instead of large meetings with no immediate results, the software product is completed by the end of the meeting? In response, we present a vision for a system called TimeLess, designed to reshape the software development process by enabling immediate action during meetings. The goal is to shift meetings from planning discussions to productive, action-oriented sessions. This approach minimizes the time and effort required for development, allowing teams to focus on critical decision-making while AI agents execute development tasks based on the meeting discussions. We will employ multiple AI agents that work collaboratively to capture human discussions and execute development tasks in real time. Non-linear convection-reaction-diffusion (CRD) partial differential equations (PDEs) are crucial for modeling complex phenomena in fields such as biology, ecology, population dynamics, physics, and engineering. Numerical approximation of these non-linear systems is essential due to the challenges of obtaining exact solutions. Traditionally, the Galerkin finite element method (GFEM) has been the standard computational tool for solving these PDEs. With the advancements in machine learning, Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN) has emerged as a promising alternative for approximating non-linear PDEs. In this study, we compare the performance of PINN and GFEM by solving four distinct one-dimensional CRD problems with varying initial and boundary conditions and evaluate the performance of PINN over GFEM. This evaluation metrics includes error estimates, and visual representations of the solutions, supported by statistical methods such as the root mean squared error (RMSE), the standard deviation of error, the the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and the coefficient of variation (CV) test. Our findings reveal that while both methods achieve solutions close to the analytical results, PINN demonstrate superior accuracy and efficiency. PINN achieved significantly lower RMSE values and smaller standard deviations for Burgers' equation, Fisher's equation, and Newell-Whitehead-Segel equation, indicating higher accuracy and greater consistency. While GFEM shows slightly better accuracy for the Burgers-Huxley equation, its performance was less consistent over time. In contrast, PINN exhibit more reliable and robust performance, highlighting their potential as a cutting-edge approach for solving non-linear PDEs., Comment: 29 pages, 13 figures

Bengali is the seventh most spoken language on earth, yet considered a low-resource language in the field of natural language processing (NLP). Question answering over unstructured text is a challenging NLP task as it requires understanding both question and passage. Very few researchers attempted to perform question answering over Bengali (natively pronounced as Bangla) text. Typically, existing approaches construct the dataset by directly translating them from English to Bengali, which produces noisy and improper sentence structures. Furthermore, they lack topics and terminologies related to the Bengali language and people. This paper introduces BanglaQuAD, a Bengali question answering dataset, containing 30,808 question-answer pairs constructed from Bengali Wikipedia articles by native speakers. Additionally, we propose an annotation tool that facilitates question-answering dataset construction on a local machine. The majority of medical images, especially those that resemble cells, have similar characteristics. These images, which occur in a variety of shapes, often show abnormalities in the organ or cell region. The convolution operation possesses a restricted capability to extract visual patterns across several spatial regions of an image. The involution process, which is the inverse operation of convolution, complements this inherent lack of spatial information extraction present in convolutions. In this study, we investigate how applying a single layer of involution prior to a convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture can significantly improve classification and segmentation performance, with a comparatively negligible amount of weight parameters. The study additionally shows how excessive use of involution layers might result in inaccurate predictions in a particular type of medical image. Context: The advent of Large Language Model-driven tools like ChatGPT offers software engineers an interactive alternative to community question-answering (CQA) platforms like Stack Overflow. While Stack Overflow provides benefits from the accumulated crowd-sourced knowledge, it often suffers from unpleasant comments, reactions, and long waiting times. Objective: In this study, we assess the efficacy of ChatGPT in providing solutions to software engineering questions by analyzing its performance specifically against human solutions. Method: We empirically analyze 2564 Python and JavaScript questions from StackOverflow that were asked between January 2022 and December 2022. We parse the questions and answers from Stack Overflow, then collect the answers to the same questions from ChatGPT through API, and employ four textual and four cognitive metrics to compare the answers generated by ChatGPT with the accepted answers provided by human subject matter experts to find out the potential reasons for which future knowledge seekers may prefer ChatGPT over CQA platforms. We also measure the accuracy of the answers provided by ChatGPT. We also measure user interaction on StackOverflow over the past two years using three metrics to determine how ChatGPT affects it. Results: Our analysis indicates that ChatGPT's responses are 66% shorter and share 35% more words with the questions, showing a 25% increase in positive sentiment compared to human responses. ChatGPT's answers' accuracy rate is between 71 to 75%, with a variation in response characteristics between JavaScript and Python. Additionally, our findings suggest a recent 38% decrease in comment interactions on Stack Overflow, indicating a shift in community engagement patterns. A supplementary survey with 14 Python and JavaScript professionals validated these findings.

Internal crack detection has been a subject of focus in structural health monitoring. By focusing on crack detection in structural datasets, it is demonstrated that deep learning (DL) methods can effectively analyze seismic wave fields interacting with micro-scale cracks, which are beyond the resolution of conventional visual inspection. This work explores a novel application of DL-based key point detection technique, where cracks are localized by predicting the coordinates of four key points that define a bounding region of the crack. The study not only opens new research directions for non-visual applications but also effectively mitigates the impact of imbalanced data which poses a challenge for previous DL models, as it can be biased toward predicting the majority class (non-crack regions). Popular DL techniques, such as the Inception blocks, are used and investigated. The model shows an overall reduction in loss when applied to micro-scale crack detection and is reflected in the lower average deviation between the location of actual and predicted cracks, with an average Intersection over Union (IoU) being 0.511 for all micro cracks (greater than 0.00 micrometers) and 0.631 for larger micro cracks (greater than 4 micrometers).

Micro Crack detection using deep neural networks (DNNs) through an automated pipeline using wave fields interacting with the damaged areas is highly sought after. These high-dimensional spatio-temporal crack data are limited, and these datasets have large dimensions in the temporal domain. The dataset presents a substantial class imbalance, with crack pixels constituting an average of only 5% of the total pixels per sample. This extreme class imbalance poses a challenge for deep learning models with the different micro-scale cracks, as the network can be biased toward predicting the majority class, generally leading to poor detection accuracy. This study builds upon the previous benchmark SpAsE-Net, an asymmetric encoder-decoder network for micro-crack detection. The impact of various activation and loss functions were examined through feature space visualization using the manifold discovery and analysis (MDA) algorithm. The optimized architecture and training methodology achieved an accuracy of 86.85%.

Within the context of the ALICE ITS3 collaboration, a set of MAPS small-scale test structures were developed using the 65 nm TPSCo CMOS imaging process with the upgrade of the ALICE inner tracking system as its primary focus. One such sensor, the Circuit Exploratoire 65 nm (CE-65), and its evolution the CE-65v2, were developed to explore charge collection properties for varying configurations including collection layer process (standard, blanket, modified with gap), pixel pitch (15, 18, \SI{22.5}{\micro\meter}), and pixel geometry (square vs hexagonal/staggered). In this work the characterisation of the CE-65v2 chip, based on $^{55}$Fe lab measurements and test beams at CERN SPS, is presented. Matrix gain uniformity up to the $\mathcal{O}$(5\%) level was demonstrated for all considered chip configurations. The CE-65v2 chip achieves a spatial resolution of under \SI{2}{\micro\meter} during beam tests. Process modifications allowing for faster charge collection and less charge sharing result in decreased spatial resolution, but a considerably wider range of operation, with both the \SI{15}{\micro\meter} and \SI{22.5}{\micro\meter} chips achieving over 99\% efficiency up to a $\sim$180 e$^{-}$ seed threshold. Bangla is the seventh most spoken language by a total number of speakers in the world, and yet the development of an automated grammar checker in this language is an understudied problem. Bangla grammatical error detection is a task of detecting sub-strings of a Bangla text that contain grammatical, punctuation, or spelling errors, which is crucial for developing an automated Bangla typing assistant. Our approach involves breaking down the task as a token classification problem and utilizing state-of-the-art transformer-based models. Finally, we combine the output of these models and apply rule-based post-processing to generate a more reliable and comprehensive result. Our system is evaluated on a dataset consisting of over 25,000 texts from various sources. Our best model achieves a Levenshtein distance score of 1.04. Finally, we provide a detailed analysis of different components of our system.

We consider the nonlinear response of a disordered two-dimensional electronic system, lacking inversion symmetry, to an external alternating electric field. The application of an in-plane static magnetic field induces local contributions to the current density that are quadratic in the electric field and linear in the magnetic field. This current oscillates at twice the frequency of the external irradiation and there are two linearly independent vector combinations that contribute to the current density. This particular mechanism coexists with the topological Berry-dipole contribution to the second harmonic of the current density, which can be generated by quantum confinement. Additional nonlocal terms in the current density are possible in the regime away from the normal incidence. The total current exhibits a nonreciprocal character upon reversal of the magnetic field direction. We evaluate the magnitude of this effect by computing its dependence on the strength of spin-orbit coupling and the disorder scattering rate. Importantly, we show that these local second-harmonic contributions can be resonantly excited when the frequency of the external radiation approaches the energy separation between the spin-orbit split bands., Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures

The recent advancement of edge computing enables researchers to optimize various deep learning architectures to employ them in edge devices. In this study, we aim to optimize Xception architecture which is one of the most popular deep learning algorithms for computer vision applications. The Xception architecture is highly effective for object detection tasks. However, it comes with a significant computational cost. The computational complexity of Xception sometimes hinders its deployment on resource-constrained edge devices. To address this, we propose an optimized Xception architecture tailored for edge devices, aiming for lightweight and efficient deployment. We incorporate the depthwise separable convolutions with deep residual convolutions of the Xception architecture to develop a small and efficient model for edge devices. The resultant architecture reduces parameters, memory usage, and computational load. The proposed architecture is evaluated on the CIFAR 10 object detection dataset. Accurate multispectral image matching presents significant challenges due to non-linear intensity variations across spectral modalities, extreme viewpoint changes, and the scarcity of labeled datasets. Current state-of-the-art methods are typically specialized for a single spectral difference, such as visibleinfrared, and struggle to adapt to other modalities due to their reliance on expensive supervision, such as depth maps or camera poses. To address the need for rapid adaptation across modalities, we introduce XPoint, a self-supervised, modular image-matching framework designed for adaptive training and fine-tuning on aligned multispectral datasets, allowing users to customize key components based on their specific tasks. XPoint employs modularity and self-supervision to allow for the adjustment of elements such as the base detector, which generates pseudoground truth keypoints invariant to viewpoint and spectrum variations. The framework integrates a VMamba encoder, pretrained on segmentation tasks, for robust feature extraction, and includes three joint decoder heads: two are dedicated to interest point and descriptor extraction; and a task-specific homography regression head imposes geometric constraints for superior performance in tasks like image registration. This flexible architecture enables quick adaptation to a wide range of modalities, demonstrated by training on Optical-Thermal data and fine-tuning on settings such as visual-near infrared, visual-infrared, visual-longwave infrared, and visual-synthetic aperture radar. Experimental results show that XPoint consistently outperforms or matches state-ofthe-art methods in feature matching and image registration tasks across five distinct multispectral datasets. This paper presents a novel hybrid Quantum Key Distribution ,QKD, protocol that combines entanglement based and non entanglement based approaches to optimize security and the number of generated keys. We introduce a dynamic system that integrates a three particle GHZ state method with the two state B92 protocol, using a quantum superposition state to probabilistically switch between them. The GHZ state component leverages strong three particle entanglement correlations for enhanced security, while the B92 component offers simplicity and potentially higher key generation rates. Implemented and simulated using Qiskit, our approach demonstrates higher number of generated keys compared to standalone protocols while maintaining robust security. We present a comprehensive analysis of the security properties and performance characteristics of the proposed protocol. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of quantization techniques for optimizing Large Language Models (LLMs), specifically focusing on Post-Training Quantization (PTQ) and Quantization-Aware Training (QAT). Through empirical evaluation across models ranging from 10M to 1B parameters, we demonstrate that quantization can achieve up to 68% reduction in model size while maintaining performance within 6% of full-precision baselines when utilizing our proposed scaling factor {\gamma}. Our experiments show that INT8 quantization delivers a 40% reduction in computational cost and power consumption, while INT4 quantization further improves these metrics by 60%. We introduce a novel theoretical framework for mixed-precision quantization, deriving optimal bit allocation strategies based on layer sensitivity and weight variance. Hardware efficiency evaluations on edge devices reveal that our quantization approach enables up to 2.4x throughput improvement for INT8 and 3x for INT4, with 60% power reduction compared to full-precision models., Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures

This paper presents a monitoring framework that infers the level of autonomous vehicle (AV) collision risk based on its object detector's performance using only monocular camera images. Essentially, the framework takes two sets of predictions produced by different algorithms and associates their inconsistencies with the collision risk via fuzzy inference. The first set of predictions is obtained through retrieving safety-critical 2.5D objects from a depth map, and the second set comes from the AV's 3D object detector. We experimentally validate that, based on Intersection-over-Union (IoU) and a depth discrepancy measure, the inconsistencies between the two sets of predictions strongly correlate to the safety-related error of the 3D object detector against ground truths. This correlation allows us to construct a fuzzy inference system and map the inconsistency measures to an existing collision risk indicator. In particular, we apply various knowledge- and data-driven techniques and find using particle swarm optimization that learns general fuzzy rules gives the best mapping result. Privacy-preserving and secure data sharing are critical for medical image analysis while maintaining accuracy and minimizing computational overhead are also crucial. Applying existing deep neural networks (DNNs) to encrypted medical data is not always easy and often compromises performance and security. To address these limitations, this research introduces a secure framework consisting of a learnable encryption method based on the block-pixel operation to encrypt the data and subsequently integrate it with the Vision Transformer (ViT). The maximum deposition eigenchannel provides the largest possible power delivery to a target region inside a diffusive medium by optimizing the incident wavefront of a monochromatic beam. It originates from constructive interference of scattered waves, which is frequency sensitive. We investigate the spectral width of maximum deposition eigenchannels over a range of target depths using numerical simulations of a 2D diffusive system. Compared to tight focusing into the system, power deposition to an extended region is more sensitive to frequency detuning. The spectral width of enhanced delivery to a large target displays a rather weak, non-monotonic variation with target depth, in contrast to a sharp drop of focusing bandwidth with depth. While the maximum enhancement of power deposited within a diffusive system can exceed that of power transmitted through it, this comes at the cost of a narrower spectral width. We investigate the narrower deposition width in terms of the constructive interference of transmission eigenchannels within the target. We further observe that the spatial field distribution inside the target region decorrelates slower with spectral detuning than power decay of the maximum deposition eigenchannel. Additionally, absorption increases the spectral width of deposition eigenchannels, but the depth dependence remains qualitatively identical to that without absorption. This study explores the potential of the Ping 360 sonar device, primarily used for navigation, in detecting complex underwater obstacles. The key motivation behind this research is the device's affordability and open-source nature, offering a cost-effective alternative to more expensive imaging sonar systems. The investigation focuses on understanding the behaviour of the Ping 360 in controlled environments and assessing its suitability for object detection, particularly in scenarios where human operators are unavailable for inspecting offshore structures in shallow waters. Through a series of carefully designed experiments, we examined the effects of surface reflections and object shadows in shallow underwater environments. Additionally, we developed a manually annotated sonar image dataset to train a U-Net segmentation model. Our findings indicate that while the Ping 360 sonar demonstrates potential in simpler settings, its performance is limited in more cluttered or reflective environments unless extensive data pre-processing and annotation are applied. To our knowledge, this is the first study to evaluate the Ping 360's capabilities for complex object detection. We present a real-time gaze-based interaction simulation methodology using an offline dataset to evaluate the eye-tracking signal quality. This study employs three fundamental eye-movement classification algorithms to identify physiological fixations from the eye-tracking data. We introduce the Rank-1 fixation selection approach to identify the most stable fixation period nearest to a target, referred to as the trigger-event. Our evaluation explores how varying constraints impact the definition of trigger-events and evaluates the eye-tracking signal quality of defined trigger-events. Results show that while the dispersion threshold-based algorithm identifies trigger-events more accurately, the Kalman filter-based classification algorithm performs better in eye-tracking signal quality, as demonstrated through a user-centric quality assessment using user- and error-percentile tiers. In contrast, the exploration of emotion generation has received less attention.This study delves into an existing state-of-the-art emotional chatbot, EmoBot, designed for generating emotions in general-purpose conversations. This research involves a comprehensive examination, including a survey to evaluate EmoBot's proficiency in key dimensions like usability, accuracy, and overall user satisfaction, with a specific focus on fault tolerance. By closely examining the chatbot's operations, we identified some noteworthy shortcomings in the existing model. Implementing and tuning chirality is fundamental in physics, chemistry, and material science. Chiral charge density waves (CDWs), where chirality arises from correlated charge orders, are attracting intense interest due to their exotic transport and optical properties. However, a general framework for predicting chiral CDW materials is lacking, primarily because the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we address this challenge by developing the first comprehensive predictive framework, systematically identifying chiral CDW materials via first-principles calculations. The key lies in the previously overlooked phase difference of the CDW Q-vectors between layers, which is linked to opposite collective atomic displacements across different layers. This phase difference induces a spiral arrangement of the Q-vectors, ultimately giving rise to a chiral structure in real space. We validate our framework by applying it to the kagome lattice AV$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$ (A = K, Rb, Cs), successfully predicting emergent structural chirality. To demonstrate the generality of our approach, we extend it to predict chiral CDWs in the triangular-lattice NbSe$_{2}$. Beyond material predictions, our theory uncovers a universal and unprecedented Hall effect in chiral CDW materials, occurring without external magnetic fields or intrinsic magnetization. Our experiments on CsV$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$ confirm this prediction, observing a unique signature where the Hall conductivity's sign reverses when the input current is reversed, a phenomenon distinct from known Hall effects. Our findings elucidate the mechanisms behind chiral CDWs and open new avenues for discovering materials with unconventional quantum properties, with potential applications in next-generation electronic and spintronic devices.

Intrusion detection has been a commonly adopted detective security measures to safeguard systems and networks from various threats. A robust intrusion detection system (IDS) can essentially mitigate threats by providing alerts. In networks based IDS, typically we deal with cyber threats like distributed denial of service (DDoS), spoofing, reconnaissance, brute-force, botnets, and so on. In order to detect these threats various machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models have been proposed. However, one of the key challenges with these predictive approaches is the presence of false positive (FP) and false negative (FN) instances. This FPs and FNs within any black-box intrusion detection system (IDS) make the decision-making task of an analyst further complicated. In this paper, we propose an explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) based visual analysis approach using overlapping SHAP plots that presents the feature explanation to identify potential false positive and false negatives in IDS. Our approach can further provide guidance to security analysts for effective decision-making. We present case study with multiple publicly available network traffic datasets to showcase the efficacy of our approach for identifying false positive and false negative instances.
