The article presents an interview with Doctor Rosalind Barnett, senior scientist at Brandeis University, in Waltham, Massachusetts. When asked about the difference between men and women, Barnett refers on gender variability and differences on cognitive and social behaviors. She explains that men and women are different reproductively, and they metabolize certain medications differently. Barnett also talks about the sexual appeals of different sexes in relation to family therapy and its implication to gender.

The article presents an interview with Margaret Keiley, an associate professor of Child Development and Family studies at Purdure University on family therapy. When asked if attachment theory was compelling for him, Keiley replied that it was not until his post doctoral training at Vanderbilt with Ken Dodge and Judy Garber that he began to really focus on attachment theory. He was working with two developmental psychopathologists, he was also supposed to by paying attention to psychopathology, in which he didn't believe. The focus in developmental psychology and psychopathology is on mechanisms, how things actually come into being, how things change, and what mediates the relationship between the biological things that come into world with and one's ability to regulate affect down road. Keiley was questioned about the importance of affect regulation. He replied that when one combine that idea with how one is socialized in the attachment relationships, it end up with specific kinds of affect regulation strategies based on whether one is more securely, avoidantly or anxiously attached.

The article presents an interview of Sue Johnson, pioneer of family therapy on the emotionally focused therapy (EFT). The trends in the field of family therapy reflect the larger patriarchal model in society in which emotions are associated with women and pathologized and rationality and separateness are associated with men and privilege. When asked about the integration of emotions in EFT models. Johnson has argued cogently and passionately for the necessary inclusion of emotion in systematic models, he talks on about emotion on a theoretical level occasionally, he does not actually work with emotion at all. Johnson was questioned about his origin in family therapy and what models did he start with. Johnson replied that he had his basic training in a counseling psychology program as an individual therapist from a Rogerian and Gesalt model. He also worked at a treatment center for emotionally disturbed kids, those kids really taught him how to do therapy. EFT is humanistic therapy it is basically a non-pathologizing therapy that takes the stance that people can grow and change if one give them enough safety and enough support.
