Many favorable reports have been published following the administration of para-amino salicylic acid (PAS) in the treatment of visceral tuberculosis. Encouraging results have also been obtained in some cases of cutaneous tuberculosis. The toxic reactions of the drug are usually mild. They are manifested by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, gastralgia, fever, and alterations of the urinary tract.
