Based on primary data collected from the households of Dangs district in South Gujarat, India, the paper shows that every year a third of young adults migrate to Surat district and neighbouring areas for half a year to work as sugarcane harvesters. The data show that they live in temporary shelters in harsh conditions with bare minimum necessities and amenities. A large share of their earnings, much lower than the minimum wage rate for agricultural labour, is used to pay the labour contractors who provide cash advances during the lean post-monsoon months. Paying back the principal amount with hefty interest on it traps generations of migrant workers in the vicious cycle of poverty and indebtedness.

The mountain people, especially the rural women have been the subject of colossal neglect for centuries. In a family, they have different status and role to performed, i.e. mother, daughter, daughter-in-law etc. Their family works are distributed among themselves, according to their position, but the common concern is ‘Drudgery’and Health Status which is widely spread in their life. Frequent pregnancies, coupled with poor diet, result in anemia. Illiteracy among women has added to the problem as most of the rural women are subjected to the various traditional beliefs and health practices. Women share abundant responsibilities to perform a wide spectrum of duties both in the home and outside, but their participation is considered as normal by the society. This paper starts with the concept of status of women , health facilities, and moves on to examine the understanding of health seeking behaviorand social dogmas imposed on women and women perception towards various health issues.

The underlying molecular mechanisms of diabetic nephropathy (DN) have yet not been investigated clearly. In this investigation, we aimed to identify key genes involved in the pathogenesis and prognosis of DN. We selected expression profiling by high throughput sequencing dataset GSE142025 from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between DN and normal control samples were analyzed with limma package. Gene ontology (GO) and REACTOME enrichment analysis were performed using ToppGene. Then we established the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, miRNA-DEG regulatory network and TF-DEG regulatory network. The diagnostic values of hub genes were performed through receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Finally, the candidate small molecules as potential drugs to treat DM were predicted using molecular docking studies. Through expression profiling by high throughput sequencing dataset, a total of 549 DEGs were detected including 275 up regulated and 274 down regulated genes. Biological process analysis of functional enrichment showed these DEGs were mainly enriched in cell activation, response to hormone, cell surface, integral component of plasma membrane, signaling receptor binding, lipid binding, immunoregulatory interactions between a lymphoid and a non-lymphoid cell and biological oxidations. DEGs with high degree of connectivity (MDFI, LCK, BTK, IRF4, PRKCB, EGR1, JUN, FOS, ALB and NR4A1) were selected as hub genes from protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, miRNA-DEG regulatory network and TF-DEG regulatory network. The ROC curve analysis confirmed that hub genes were high diagnostic values. Finally, the significant small molecules were obtained based on molecular docking studies. Our results indicated that MDFI, LCK, BTK, IRF4, PRKCB, EGR1, JUN, FOS, ALB and NR4A1 could be the potential novel biomarkers for GC diagnosis prognosis and the promising therapeutic targets. The present study may be crucial to understanding the molecular mechanism of DN initiation and progression.

Background Obesity is the most common metabolic disorder worldwide. Its progression rate has remained high in recent years. ObjectivesTherefore, the aim of this study was to diagnose important differentially expressed genes (DEGs) associated in its development, which may be used as novel biomarkers or potential therapeutic targets for obesity. MethodsThe gene expression profile of E-MTAB-6728 was downloaded from the database. After screening DEGs in each ArrayExpress dataset, we further used the robust rank aggregation method to diagnose 876 significant DEGs including 438 up regulated and 438 down regulated genes. Pathway enrichment analyses and Gene Ontology (GO) were performed by online tool ToppCluster. These DEGs were shown to be significantly enriched in different obesity related pathways and GO functions. Then, the mentha, miRNet and NetworkAnalyst databases were used to construct the protein–protein interaction network, target genes - miRNA regulatory network and target genes - TF regulatory network. The module analysis was performed by the PEWCC1 plug‐in of Cytoscape based on the whole PPI network.Results We finally filtered out HSPA8, ESR1, YWHAH, RPL14, SOD2, BTG2, LYZ and EFNA1 hub genes. Hub genes were validated by ICH analysis, Receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis and RT-PCR. The robust DEGs linked with the development of obesity were screened through the ArrayExpress database, and integrated bioinformatics analysis was conducted. ConclusionsOur study provides reliable molecular biomarkers for screening and diagnosis, prognosis as well as novel therapeutic targets for obesity.

There are relatively few Media Access control (MAC) to display the sorted out and available remote sensor show usages, which remain close-by IEEE 802.15.4 models. This Scenario contains two Steps. To a restricted degree 1, the 3 sensor framework MAC shows with three model preoccupations of a remote sensor architecture. Somewhat, we look at the three models that utilizes the estimation systems. The simulation is performed by using the simulator OMNET++, The experimentations are also done for Wireless Sensor Networks. Then the results show the expected improvements in our approach when compared to the standard IEEE 802.15.4 in the MAC layer.

Non-functioning pituitary adenomas (NFPAs) are locally invasive with high morbidity. The objective of this study was to diagnose important genes and pathways related to the invasiveness of NFPAs and gain more insights into the underlying molecular mechanisms of NFPAs. The gene expression profiles of GSE51618 were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database with 4 non-invasive NFPA samples, 3 invasive NFPA samples, and 3 normal pituitary gland samples. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) are screened between invasive NFPA samples and normal pituitary gland samples, followed by pathway and ontology (GO) enrichment analyses. Subsequently, a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed and analyzed for these DEGs, and module analysis was performed. In addition, a target gene-miRNA network and target gene-TF (transcription factor) network were analyzed for these DEGs. A total of 879 DEGs were obtained. Among them, 439 genes were upregulated and 440 genes were downregulated. Pathway enrichment analysis indicated that the upregulated genes were significantly enriched in cysteine biosynthesis/homocysteine degradation (trans-sulfuration) and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, while the downregulated genes were mainly associated with docosahexaenoate biosynthesis III (mammals) and chemokine signaling pathway. GO enrichment analysis indicated that the upregulated genes were significantly enriched in animal organ morphogenesis, extracellular matrix, and hormone activity, while the downregulated genes were mainly associated with leukocyte chemotaxis, dendrites, and RAGE receptor binding. Subsequently, ESR1, SOX2, TTN, GFAP, WIF1, TTR, XIST, SPAG5, PPBP, AR, IL1R2, and HIST1H1C were diagnosed as the top hub genes in the upregulated and downregulated PPI networks and modules. In addition, HS3ST1, GPC4, CCND2, and SCD were diagnosed as the top hub genes in the upregulated and downregulated target gene-miRNA networks, while CISH, ISLR, UBE2E3, and CCNG2 were diagnosed as the top hub genes in the upregulated and downregulated target gene-TF networks. The new important DEGs and pathways diagnosed in this study may serve key roles in the invasiveness of NFPAs and indicate more molecular targets for the treatment of NFPAs.

Background: Subclinical Hypothyroidism (ScHt) affects 3-15% of the adult population. It's clinical and biochemical profile is not well defined, especially in Indian scenario. Our study aimed at screening normal population to define normative ranges of thyroid hormones and Serum thyroid stimulating hormone (S.TSH) and prevalence of ScHt and thyroid autoimmunity. Materials and Methods: Two-hundred thirty-seven normal subjects without family history of thyroid disease were evaluated for symptoms and laboratory tests for thyroid dysfunction and autoimmunity. Results: The thyroid function tests were as follows: Euthyroid Group: Mean values were: T3: 1.79 ± 0.42 ng/ mL, T4: 10.23 ± 2.25 μg/dL, FT3: 1.88 ± 0.19 pg/mL, FT4: 1.12 ± 0.21 ng/dL, S.TSH: 2.22 ± 1.06 μlu/mL. 10.2% of euthyroid subjects had antimicrosomal antibodies (AMA) +ve (mean titer 1:918) and 23.6% were anti-thyroid peroxidase autoantibody (anti-TPO) +ve (mean titer 15.06 Au/mL). The euthyroid outlier range for S.TSH was 0.3-4.6 μlu/mL. The values were comparable in both the sexes. Those with S.TSH ≥ 5 μlu/mL were defined to have ScHt. ScHt Group : Prevalence of ScHt was 11.3% (M:F ratio 1:3.7). 74% belonged to 35-54 years age group and prevalence increased with age (post-menopausal females: prevalence 20%). S.TSH was 9.8 ± 7.22 μlu/mL, mean S.AMA was 1:5079 (40.7% positivity) and mean S.anti-TPO was 260 Au/mL (47.6% positivity). Majority were agoitrous (74%), and stage I goiter was seen in 26% of this population. Symptom score of 5-8 was seen in 55% ScHt subjects versus 35% normal subjects. Conclusion: Mean S.TSH in our population was 2.22 μlu/mL (euthyroid outliers: 0.3-4.6 μlu/mL); hence, S.TSH above 4.6 μlu/mL should be considered as abnormal. The prevalence of thyroid autoimmunity increases after age of 35 years. ScHt presents mainly in agoitrous form and with positive antibodies, suggesting autoimmunity as the cause.

Two cases of tuberculous oeteomyelitis of the skull bones have been reported. The first case presented with swelling on right frontoparietal region and punched out osteolytlc lesion in the frontal bone. The second case presented as diabetes insipidus, without any obvious swelling on scalp and skiagram of skull revealed osteolytic lesion in frontoparietal region with shallow widened pituitary fossa. Both the cases improved on antitubercular drugs along with thiazides in second case for diabetes insipidus.
