Grant free access, in which each Internet of Things (IoT) device delivers its packets through a randomly selected resource without spending time on handshaking procedures, is a promising solution for supporting the massive connectivity required for IoT systems. In this paper, we explore grant free access with multi packet reception capabilities, with an emphasis on ultra low end IoT applications with small data sizes, sporadic activity, and energy usage constraints. We propose a power allocation scheme that integrates the IoT device's traffic and energy budget by using a stochastic geometry framework and meanfield game theory to model and analyze mutual interference among active IoT devices.We also derive a Markov chain model to capture and track the IoT device's queue length and derive the successful transmission probability at steady state. The Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) is a cellular technology introduced by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) to provide connectivity to a large number of low-cost IoT devices with strict energy consumption limitations. However, in an ultra-dense small cell network employing NB-IoT technology, inter-cell interference can be a problem, raising serious concerns regarding the performance of NB-IoT, particularly in uplink transmission. Thus, a power allocation method must be established to analyze uplink performance, control and predict inter-cell interference, and avoid excessive energy waste during transmission. Unfortunately, standard power allocation techniques become inappropriate as their computational complexity grows in an ultra-dense environment. Furthermore, the performance of NB-IoT is strongly dependent on the traffic generated by IoT devices. In order to tackle these challenges, we provide a consistent and distributed uplink power allocation solution under spatiotemporal fluctuation incorporating NB-IoT features such as the number of repetitions and the data rate, as well as the IoT device's energy budget, packet size, and traffic intensity, by leveraging stochastic geometry analysis and Mean-Field Game (MFG) theory. One of the main problems in WIMAX is to share the medium by multiple users who compete for access. Various random access mechanisms, such as ALOHA and its corresponding variations have been widely studied as efficient methods to coordinate the medium access among competing users. WiMAX (acronym for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is a family of technical standards based on IEEE 802.16 standard that defines the high speed connection through radio waves unlike DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) or other wired technology. It can provide coverage to remote rural areas of several kilometers in radius, it's an adequate response to some rural or inaccessible areas. WiMAX can provide point-to-point (P2P) and point-to-multipoint (PMP) modes. In parallel, it was observed that, unlike the traditional assessment methods for quality, nowadays, current research focuses on the user perceived quality, the existing scheduling approaches take into account the quality of service (QoS) and many technical parameters, but does not take into account the quality of experience (QoE). In this paper, we present a scheduling algorithm to provide QoE in WiMAX network under Manhattan Mobility. A new approach is proposed, particularly for the Best Effort (BE) service class WiMAX, in this approach, if a packet loss occurs on a link connection, the system then reduces the transmission rate of this connection to obtain its minimum allowable transmission rate. To satisfy the increasing demand for multimedia services in broadband Internet networks, the WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Acces) technology has emerged as an alternative to the wired broadband access solutions. It provides an Internet connection to broadband coverage area of several kilometers in radius by ensuring a satisfactory quality of service (QoS), it's an adequate response to some rural or inaccessible areas. Unlike DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) or other wired technology, WiMAX uses radio waves and can provide point-to-multipoint (PMP) and point-to-point (P2P) modes. In parallel, it's observed that in the opposite of the traditional quality evaluation approaches, nowadays, current researches focus on the user perceived quality, the existing scheduling algorithms take into account the QoS and many other parameters, but not the Quality of Experience (QoE). In this paper, we present a QoE-based scheduling solution in WiMAX network in order to make the scheduling of the UGS connections based on the use of QoE metrics. Indeed, the proposed solution allows controlling the packet transmission rate so as to match with the minimum subjective rate requirements of each user. Wireless mesh networks have seen a real progress due of their implementation at a low cost. They present one of Next Generation Networks technologies and can serve as home, companies and universities networks. In this paper, we propose and discuss a new multi-objective model for nodes deployment optimization in Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks. We exploit the trade-off between network cost and the overall network performance. This optimization problem is solved simultaneously by using a meta-heuristic method that returns a non-dominated set of near optimal solutions. A comparative study was driven to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed model.

IEEE 802.16 OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) technology has emerged as a promising technology for broadband access in a Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (WMAN) environment. In this paper, we address the problem of queueing theoretic performance modeling and analysis of OFDMA under broad-band wireless networks. We consider a single-cell IEEE 802.16 environment in which the base station allocates subchannels to the subscriber stations in its coverage area. The subchannels allocated to a subscriber station are shared by multiple connections at that subscriber station. To ensure the Quality of Service (QoS) performances, a Connection Admission Control (CAC) scheme is considered at a subscriber station. A queueing analytical framework for these admission control schemes is presented considering OFDMA-based transmission at the physical layer. Then, based on the queueing model, both the connection-level and the packet-level performances are studied and compared with their analogues in the case without CAC. The connection arrival is modeled by a Poisson process and the packet arrival for a connection by a two-state Markov Modulated Poisson Process (MMPP). When different type of packets with different needs of Quality of Service (QoS) requirements share the same network resources, it became important to use queue management and scheduling schemes in order to maintain perceived quality at the end users at an acceptable level. Many schemes have been studied in the literature, these schemes use time priority (to maintain QoS for Real Time (RT) packets) and/or space priority (to maintain QoS for Non Real Time (NRT) packets). In this paper, we study and show the drawback of a combined time and space priority (TSP) scheme used to manage QoS for RT and NRT packets intended for an end user in High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) cell, and we propose an enhanced scheme (Enhanced Basic-TSP scheme) to improve QoS relatively to the RT packets, and to exploit efficiently the network resources. Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is currently one of the hottest technologies in wireless, it is a standard-based on the IEEE 802.16 wireless technology that provides high throughput broadband connections over long distance, which supports Point to MultiPoint (PMP) broadband wireless access. In parallel, Voice over Internet Protocol is a promising new technology which provides access to voice communication over internet protocol based network, it becomes an alternative to public switched telephone networks due to its capability of transmission of voice as packets over IP networks. Therefore VoIP is largely intolerant of delay and hence it needs a high priority transmission. In this paper we investigate the performances of the most common VoIP codecs, which are G711, G7231 and G729 over a WiMAX network using various service classes and NOAH as a transport protocol. To analyze the QoS parameters, the popular network simulator ns2 was used. Various parameters that determine QoS of real life usage scenarios and traffic flows of applications is analyzed. The objective is to compare different types of service classes with respect to the QoS parameters, such as, throughput, average jitter and average delay.

A Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a group of mobile nodes that can be set up randomly and formed without the need of any existing network infrastructure or centralized administration. In this network the mobile devices are dependent on battery power, it is important to minimize their energy consumption. Also storage capacity and power are severely limited. In situations such as emergency rescue, military actions, and scientific field missions, energy conservation plays an even more important role which is critical to the success of the tasks performed by the network. Therefore, energy conservation should be considered carefully when designing or evaluating ad hoc routing protocols. In this paper we concentrated on the energy consumption issues of existing routing protocols in MANET under various mobility models and whose connections communicate in a particular traffic model (CBR, Exponential, and Pareto). This paper describes a performance comparison of the AODV, DSR and DSDV routing protocols in term of energy consumed due to packet type (routing/MAC) during transmission and reception of control packets. The mobility models used in this work are Random Waypoint, Manhattan Grid and Reference Point Group. A Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a self-configuring infrastructure less network of mobile devices connected by wireless links. In this network technology, simulative analysis is a significant method to understand the performance of routing protocols. In this paper three protocols AODV, DSDV and DSR were simulated using Manhattan Grid Mobility Model. The reactive (AODV, DSR) and proactive (DSDV) protocols internal mechanism leads to considerable performance difference. The performance differentials are analyzed using NS-2 which is the main network simulator, NAM (Network Animator), AWK (post processing script) and were compared in terms of Packet Delivery Fraction (PDF), Average end-to-end Delay and Throughput, in different environments specified by varying network load, mobility rate and number of nodes. Our results presented in this research work demonstrate the performance analysis of AODV, DSDV and DSR routing protocols. It has been observed that, under Manhattan Grid mobility model, AODV and DSR performs better than DSDV in terms of PDF and Throughput. However in term of Average end-to-end Delay, DSDV appears to be the best one., Comment: 7 pages
