Aim: This paper aimed to analyze the bibliometric parameters o f the Pakistan Journal of Information Management and Libraries (PJIM&L) for the period 2010 to 2018. Methods: The data for this study was downloaded from the Scopus - Elsevier database on 14th January 2020. Two source titles PJIM&L, and its earlier version "Pakistan Journal of Library and Information Science", were selected and all the available bibliographic records of publications were downloaded in a Comma Separated Value file for analysis. The data was examined by chronological order, by the pattern of authorship and enlisting the productive authors, further distribution of documents by affiliated country, keywords occurrence, and most cited papers presented. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to calculate the Mean and Standard Error of Means and VOS viewer was applied to visualize the keyword's occurrence and author's productivity. Results: A total of 92 papers were found in the Scopus database published in PJIM&L from 2010 to 2018 with an average of 10.22 papers per year with an average annual growth rate of 51.99. These papers were written by 125 authors and most of the papers (n=37; 40.21%) were written in a two-author pattern. Kanwal Ameen has emerged as a most productive author and most of the papers contributed by the authors belonged from Lahore and the University of Punjab found a productive institution. The research contributions from 15 foreign countries showed that international authors have trust in the credibility of the journal. Top-cited papers with their number of citations in Scopus and Google Scholar have been identified. Conclusion: PJIM&L is a reputed and internationally recognized LIS journal. The citation analysis showed that its papers are being cited regularly worldwide. There is a need to change the frequency of publications from annual to biannual to attract more researchers. The purpose of this paper was to conduct a bibliometric evaluation of Pakistan Library and Information Science Journal (PLISJ)Ixom 2008 to 2017. The data of articles published in PLISJ in the specific period regarding research topics, authorship pattern, gender-wise distribution, geographical and institutional affiliation were collected and analyzed by using the Microsoft Excel spread sheet. Editorials, book reviews and letters to editor were excluded. There were 369 articles in both English and Urdu Languages. Majority of authors were male and single author trend was dominant. The contributors from Punjab and Sindh provinces were higher than other provinces. Bibliographic studies, Information Resources &Services; Interview of (Library and Information Science) LIS Professional and Library & Information Science Education were the preferred area of research. The research contributions from authors affiliated to the University of the Punjab Lahore was first, followed by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the University of Karachi. PLISJ needs to publish articles on emerging trends in LIS and articles should be peer reviewed to improve the quality of research papers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abdus Subuh Qasimi (ASQ) was the first professional trained librarian of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He got professional education from University of the Punjab (CLS-1943), Western Reserve University, USA (Master Library Science-1956) and Columbia University, USA (PhD-1967). He served University of Peshawar (UoP) Library from 1951 to 1972. He played pivotal role in establishing the Department Library Science in UoP. He was the first Chairman of this Department. Cotton Gosspium hirsu' tum L. is most important cash crop of Pakistan and important trade commodity of the world because of its exportability as well necessary domestic use. The cotton growers have to combat with an insect pest complex using different IPM techniques for successful cotton production. This fight was facilitated when the Lepidopterous pests ie. bollworms of cotton were managed by use of transgenic resistant varieties commonly known as Bt varieties/cultivars which have been registered for general sowing or which are commonly available to some farmers for· sowing at his field. Use of these transgenic Bt cultivars has been so popular in farming community that area under these has rigorously increased, starting from nearly last 10 years, now Bt varieties have almost replaced the conventional non-Bt varieties (survey of >2000 farmers in district Lodhran). Bt cultivars worked satisfactorily for last many years except some limited and short duration problems of bollworms reported from different pockets, that were usually because of mixed seed. In last cotton season 2014, the infestation of pink bollworm Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) intensified tremendously and it was reported from almost all the cotton growing tract of Punjab. Owing to these reports studies were carried out in 3 subdivisions of Lodhran from 10 different Bt-varieties of cotton sown in that subdivision. 50 bolls were plucked from all the fields at random in· the month of October, 2014. In total 1549 collected bolls were kept in paper bags for a week and then percentage of damaged bolls as well as number of live larvae were recorded from all samples. The results were alarming to note all of 17 cultivars collected for study were susceptible showing 24.49 % to 100 % infestation. The average intensity of alive larvae per boll was 109.6 % inside the infesteQ boll. The situation spells a serious threat and dem~nds the immediate attention of cotton growers, ' breeders, biotechnologists, seed prooucers, extension workers, entomologists and research workers. The aim of this study was to compare the solubility of Zinc Phosphate and Glass Ionomer cements (conventional) in artificial saliva of different pH values. These cements are commonly used for permanent cementation of indirect restorations in dental practice at Peshawar, Pakistan and have to resist the harsh environment of oral cavity. The study was carried out at National Center of Excellence in Physical Chemistry, University of Peshawar, Pakistan. Both cements were mixed per manufacturer's directives to achieve excellent properties while using these as luting material. A total of 100 specimens were made for each dental cement and weighed prior to placement in pH medium of 2.46, 3.15, 3.56, 4.96 and 6.57 for 96 hours at 37°C temperature. After removal specimens were washed with doubly distilled water, dried in open air for 48 hours and reweighed. Percentage of solubility at each time period was calculated as 100 percent times weight loss divided by the initial weight of the specimen. It was found that the glass ionomer cement presented the highest solubility at low pH medium but was less soluble at high pH medium. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article focuses on a study about the human resources at medical libraries in Islamabad and Rawalpindi in Pakistan. It is said that the quality and number of personnel dictate the success of a medical library. The study, which involved 34 medical libraries, shows that 24 libraries admitted that they experience a lack of staff. Recommendations for the improvement of human resources in medical libraries are given, one of which is the provision of refresher courses in a bid to update professional skills and knowledge.
