The change of temperature, humidity and moisture content (MC) will lead to the change of mechanical properties of molded fiber products (MFP). However, it is difficult to decouple the effects of temperature, humidity and MC on the mechanical properties of MFP, and predict the mechanical properties of MFP during the use. In this study, the laws and mechanism of mechanical properties of MFP with ambient temperature, humidity and MC were studied. The results showed that the direct effect of temperature (20−70 °C) on mechanical properties of MFP was insignificant, and the mechanical properties of MFP were mainly changed by MC. The MC was related to ambient temperature and humidity, and the relationship between the three could be described by the modified Guggenheim-Anderson-de Boer (GAB) model (20−70 °C and 30 %–90 % relative humidity). With the increase of MC, the elastic modulus and fracture strain was increased and decreased linearly, the yield strength and failure strength were presented GaussAmp laws, and the failure strain was presented asymptotic regressed distribution law. Two fracture modes of MFP, brittle fracture and ductile fracture, were revealed by the scanning electron microscopy of the mesoscopic fiber structure of sugarcane bagasse molded fiber products. The mathematical models and the changes of fiber structure were verified by wheat straw molded fiber products and waste paper molded fiber products. This study was contributed to understand the effects and mechanism of the change of temperature, humidity and MC on the mechanical properties of MFP.

Abstract Dynamic crystals with directional deformations in response to external stimuli through molecular reconfiguration, are observed predominantly in certain organic crystals and metal complexes. Low-dimensional hybrid halides, resemble these materials due to the presence of strong hydrogen bonds between bulky organic moieties and inorganic units, whereas their dynamic behavior remains largely unexplored. Here we show that a one-dimensional hybrid halide (MV)BiBr5 (MV = methylviologen) undergoes an isosymmetric phase transition at hydrostatic pressure of 0.20 GPa, accompanied by a remarkable length expansion of 20–30% and red to dark yellow color change. Unexpectedly, the backward transition can be fully reversed by mechanical stimulation rather than decompression. In the high-pressure phase, the coexistence of strong Bi3+ lone pair stereochemical activity and large reorientations of the planar MV2+ cations, together with the newly formed CH···Br hydrogen interactions, are the structural features that facilitate microscopic changes and stabilize the metastable high-pressure phase at ambient conditions.

The excessive use of chemical herbicides has resulted in evolution of herbicide-resistant weeds. Cytochrome P450 monooxygenases (P450s) are vital detoxification enzymes for herbicide-resistant weeds. Herein, we confirmed a resistant (R) Polypogon fugax population showing resistance to quizalofop-p-ethyl, acetolactate synthase (ALS)-inhibiting herbicide pyroxsulam, and several other ACCase (acetyl-CoA carboxylase)-inhibiting herbicides. Molecular analysis revealed no target-site gene mutations in the R population. Foliar spraying with malathion clearly reversed the quizalofop-p-ethyl phytotoxicity. Higher level of quizalofop-p-ethyl degradation was confirmed in the R population using HPLC analysis. Subsequently, RNA-Seq transcriptome analysis indicated that the overexpression of CYP89A2 gene appeared to be responsible for reducing quizalofop-p-ethyl phytotoxicity. The molecular docking results supported a metabolic effect of CYP89A2 protein on most herbicides tested. Furthermore, we found that low doses of herbicides stimulated the rhizosphere enzyme activities in P. fugax and the increase of rhizosphere dehydrogenase of R population may be related to its resistance mechanism. In summary, our research has shown that metabolic herbicide resistance mediated by CYP89A2, contributes to quizalofop-p-ethyl resistance in P. fugax.

Click-through rate (CTR) prediction plays a crucial role in online services and applications, such as online shopping and advertising. The performance of CTR prediction can have a direct impact on user experience and the revenue of the online platforms. For CTR prediction models, self-attention-based methods have been widely applied to this field. Recent works generally adopted the Transformer architecture, where the self-attention mechanism can capture the global dependencies of the user’s historical interactions and predict the next item. Despite the effectiveness of self-attention methods in modeling sequential user behaviors, most sequential recommenders hardly exploit feature interaction techniques to extract high-order feature combinations. In this paper, we propose a Feature-Interaction-Enhanced Sequence Model (FESeq), which integrates feature interaction and the sequential recommendation model in a cascading structure. Specifically, the interacting layer in FESeq is an automatic feature engineering step for the Transformer model. Then, we add a linear time interval embedding layer and a positional embedding layer to the Transformer in the sequence-refiner layer to learn both the time intervals and the position information in the user’s sequence behaviors. We also design an attention-based sequence pooling layer that can model the relevance of the user’s historical behaviors and the target item representation through scaled bilinear attention. Our experiments show that the proposed method beats all the baselines on both public and industrial datasets.

Superconductivity at megabar pressures has recently attracted interest in the context of hydrides. Here, the authors demonstrate superconductivity up to 26 K at high pressure in elemental titanium, and further suggest that electron correlations contribute to the high T c.

The discovery of superconductivity in hydrides at critical temperature (T c) near room temperature receives intensive attentions. Here the authors report experimental synthesis and discovery of superconductivity with T c above 210 K in calcium superhydrides at 160–190 GPa.

A series of in situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements were carried out, combined with first-principles calculations, to study structural phase transitions of selenium at high pressures and room temperature. Several phase transitions were observed, among which an isostructural phase transition was found at around 120 GPa for the first time. Evolved from the rhombohedral (space group R3m) structure (Se-V), the new phase (Se-V′) exhibited an interesting increase of lattice parameter a at pressures from 120 to 148 GPa, known as negative linear compressibility (NLC). The discovery of NLC behavior observed in this work is mainly attributed to the accuracy and fine steps controlled by the membrane system for in situ XRD data collected with an exposure time of 0.5 s. After 140 GPa, a body-centered cubic (b.c.c.) structure Se-VI (space group Im3m) was formed, which remains stable up to 210 GPa, the highest pressure achieved in this study. The bulk moduli of phases Se-V, Se-V′ and Se-VI were estimated to be 83 ± 2, 321 ± 2 and 266 ± 7 GPa, respectively, according to the P–V curve fit by the third-order Birch–Murnaghan equation of state. The Se-V′ phase shows a bulk modulus almost 4 times larger than that of the Se-V phase, which is mainly due to the effect of its NLC. NLC in a higher pressure range is always more significant in terms of fundamental mechanism and new materials discovery, yet it has barely been reported at pressures above 100 GPa. This will hopefully inspire future studies on potential NLC behaviors in other materials at ultra-high pressure.

IntroductionAlopecurus aequalis is a grass species invading Chinese canola and wheat fields. An A. aequalis KMN-R population surviving mesosulfuron-methyl treatment with recommended rates was acquired from wheatland. Here, we aimed to confirm the resistance profiles of KMN-R to acetolactate synthetase (ALS) inhibiting herbicides and explore the possible resistance mechanisms to mesosulfuron-methyl in this weed population.MethodsThe dose-response tests performed in our study were used to test the toxicity of A. aequalis to ALS-inhibiting herbicides. Sanger sequencing was used to analyze the ALS gene of mesosulfuron-methyl -resistant and -susceptible A. aequalis. RNA sequencing analysis was used to find candidate genes that may confer metabolic resistance to the mesosulfuron-methyl in resistant A. aequalis population. Mesosulfuron-methyl -resistant and -susceptible A. aequalis populations fungal composition was measured via Illumina MiSeq Sequencing.ResultsDose-response results indicated that KMN-R population evolved resistance to mesosulfuron-methyl and other tested ALS-inhibiting herbicides. Known resistance-conferring Trp-574-Leu gene mutation in A. aequalis ALS was detected in the KMN-R population. Pretreatment with 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzoxadiazole reversed mesosulfuron-methyl resistance in KMN-R. Glutathione S-transferases (GST) gene GSTZ2 and GSTT3 were highly expressed in KMN-R population. In addition, we evaluated the alpha diversity in A. aequalis, centering on OTU abundance, equality, and multiplicity, and found that the fungal community composition had more unexplained variance between KMN-R and KMN-S A. aequalis. We also observed higher abundances of specific fungi in KMN-R A. aequalis.DiscussionThe results proved that resistance to mesosulfuron-methyl in A. aequalis KMN-R population is probably caused by target site- and non-target site-based relating GST and provided the basis for further research between fungal interaction and herbicide resistance.

In order to solve the problem that the existing publishing systems were vulnerable to tampering, and it was difficult to recommend service information to “cold start” users, a blockchain-based service publishing scheme that supported cold-start user recommendations was proposed.The latent feature mapping model of a single auxiliary domain was extended to two auxiliary domains to make more accurate recommendations for cold start users in the target domain.In addition, the microservice architecture and block technology were combined to ensure system scalability, reliability and security.The experimental results of three real data sets extracted from Amazon transaction data show that the proposed recommendation model is better than most other recommendation methods, and the service release information can be safely stored in the blockchain to ensure that it is not changed.

Alopecurus japonicus has been a serious weed across China and developed resistance to the acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase)-inhibiting herbicide. The A. japonicus ACCase gene mutations accounting for target-site resistance (TSR) have been clarified, while non-target-site resistance (NTSR) is not distinct. Here, dose–response testing indicated that an A. japonicus population (R) was resistant to four ACCase-inhibiting herbicides fenoxaprop-P-ethyl, sethoxydim, clethodim, and pinoxaden. Compared with herbicide-susceptible A. japonicus (S), no known resistant mutations for TSR in ACCase were identified in the R population using sequencing. To investigate the NTSR mechanism, increased metabolism of fenoxaprop-P-ethyl was detected in the R population using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis. Notably, resistance cannot be reversed by P450 and GST inhibitors. RNA-seq was performed to further explore the resistance mechanisms, and eight candidate contigs (four glycosyl transferases (GT) and four ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters) were chosen and their expression patterns were validated using RT-qPCR. Three GT and three ABC transporter contigs were constitutively upregulated in the R population. In short, six contigs expressed highly in the R population causing enhanced fenoxaprop-P-ethyl metabolism appear to be involved in fenoxaprop-P-ethyl resistance.

Abstract In situ high energy X-ray pair distribution function (PDF) measurements, microtomography and reverse Monte Carlo simulations were used to characterize the local structure of liquid gallium up to 1.9 GPa. This pressure range includes the well-known solid-solid phase transition from Ga-I to Ga-II at low temperature. In term of previous research, the local structure of liquid gallium within this domain was suggested a mixture of two local structures, Ga I and Ga II, based on fitting experimental PDF to known crystal structure, with a controversy. However, our result shows a distinctly different result that the local structure of liquid gallium resembles the atomic arrangement of both gallium phase II and III (the high pressure crystalline phase). A melting mechanism is proposed for Ga, in which the atomic structure of phase Ι breaks up at the onset of melting, providing sufficient free volume for atoms to rearrange, to form the melt.

High pressure can create extreme conditions that enable the formation of novel materials and the discovery of new phenomena. However, the ability to preserve the desirable characteristics of materials obtained under high pressure has remained an elusive challenge, as the pressure-induced changes are typically reversible, except for the pressure-induced chemical reactions such as polymerization of hydrocarbons. Here, we propose the concept of "pressure aging" (PA) that enables the permanent locking-in of high-pressure structures and their associated enhanced properties in functional materials. Specifically, through the application of PA at 3.3 GPa for 24 h, the two-dimensional ferroelectric CuInP2S6 exhibits a permanent change in Cu configuration after the pressure is fully released. This leads to a 2.5-fold enhancement in remanent polarization and an increase in Tc from 317 K to 583 K. In contrast, the samples underwent a compression-decompression cycle but without PA showed only reversible changes in their characteristics. We elucidate the relaxation dynamics during PA using the Kohlrausch-Williams-Watts function, providing valuable insights into the temporal evolution of both structural and property changes. Furthermore, the broad applicability of PA strategy has been validated across different materials, underscoring its versatility. Notably, the pressures involved are industrially attainable, and the sample sizes are scalable. Consequently, the implementation of this impactful PA approach introduces a groundbreaking unique dimension to high-pressure research, with significant potential across various scientific domains.
