BackgroundChronic diseases are a major cause of death, contributing significantly to the global disease burden. The growing aging population and chronic disease burden in China and Japan have a substantial impact on health outcomes. Dietary factors, as key modifiable elements, are particularly important. Therefore, we aimed to analyze and compare the impact of dietary factors on the burden of chronic diseases in China and Japan and to develop measures to reduce this burden.MethodsAccording to the WHO classification of chronic diseases, we selected cardiovascular diseases, neoplasms, and diabetes for analysis. We collected relevant data from the GBD database, described and analyzed the disease burden by age, gender, and year, and created bar and trend charts. We conducted a comparative analysis of the dietary factors influencing these three chronic diseases by generating heatmaps. The joinpoint model was used to analyze the time trends of these three diseases from 1990 to 2021.ResultsFrom 1990 to 2021, the burden of neoplasms and cardiovascular diseases in China and Japan declined to varying degrees, while the burden of diabetes continued to increase. The main dietary risk factor for neoplasms is a high red meat diet, while for cardiovascular diseases, a high-sodium diet, especially in China. In addition, high meat consumption appears to serve as a protective factor for both Chinese and Japanese populations. Regarding dietary risk factors for diabetes, China is associated with a high red meat diet, whereas Japan is characterized by a high-processed meat diet.ConclusionBy comparing the burden of chronic diseases related to dietary factors in China and Japan, this study proposes strategies for national healthy diets, such as reducing sodium, processed meat, and red meat intake and increasing whole grains, vegetables, and fruit intake. In addition, attention should be given to the dietary status of the elderly, along with targeted health education initiatives.

ObjectiveThere has been a significant increase in international student exchange in recent years, with medical students comprising a large proportion of international students. This study aimed to develop and validate a questionnaire, the Medical Student Overseas Exchange Willingness and Demand Survey Questionnaire (MS-OEWDSQ), to assess medical students’ intentions to study abroad and explore the potential influencing factors.MethodsThis study was conducted in three stages: item generation and scale development; pilot study; and examination of scale reliability and validity. The item pool for the questionnaire was compiled from a literature review, an assessment of other relevant questionnaires, and interviews with medical students. Descriptive statistics were generated, and correlation analysis was performed to analyze the questionnaire data. The reliability of the measure was examined according to its internal consistency and split-half reliability. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used to determine the factor structure and test the construct validity.ResultsThe final version of the MS-OEWDSQ comprised three factors with a total of 14 items. The total Cronbach’s α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.844, and the total split-half reliability coefficient was 0.639. Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloys have excellent low-cycle fatigue performance and broad application prospects in the field of civil engineering and construction. It is necessary to conduct comprehensive and in-depth research on the mechanical properties of Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloys. This study takes the Fe17Mn5Si10Cr5Ni shape memory alloy as the research object. After solid solution treatment at different temperatures and times, the effect of solid solution treatment on the bending fatigue performance of Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloys was studied using bending cycle tests. The phase composition and fracture morphology of the sample were analyzed. The results showed that solid solution treatment can significantly improve the bending fatigue performance of Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloys, reaching the optimal value at 850 °C for 1 h. The number of bending cycles until fracture increased by 131% compared to untreated specimens. Stress induction γ → ε martensitic transformation occurred in Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloy specimens during bending cyclic testing, which is reversible. The fracture area of Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloy specimens is mainly characterized by ductile fracture, with some areas exhibiting quasi-quasi-cleavage fracture characteristics.

In order to investigate the effect of stress concentration on the mechanical properties of Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloy, Fe17Mn5Si10Cr5Ni shape memory alloy was selected as the research object in this study. Specimens with different notch types and sizes were designed, and uniaxial tensile tests were conducted on the notched specimens at room temperature. The effects of notch parameters on stress–strain curve, the notch tensile strength, notch sensitivity, and fracture mode were studied. The results indicate that Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloy is sensitive to notches. V-shaped notch specimens with the same notch radius exhibit stronger ductility and larger fracture strain than U-shaped notch specimens. The tensile strength of the notch increases with the decrease of the notch radius. The stress concentration caused by the notch limits the plastic deformation ability of the material, resulting in significantly lower ductility of the notched specimen compared to the smooth specimen. The presence of notches does not change the tensile fracture type of the alloy, which is ductile fracture. Compared with Q235 steel, Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloy has better ductility. The stress–strain curve of Q235 steel shows a clear yield plateau and slight hardening behavior, while the yield plateau of Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloy is not obvious.

Soil salinization is detrimental to crop growth, agricultural yields, and environmental protection. Echinochloa frumentacea (Roxb.) Link is a pioneer species for the alteration of saline–alkali lands. In this paper, we examined the effects of intercropping between E. frumentacea and leguminous forages on saline land improvement in the saline–alkali soil of the Hetao-Ningxia Plain, China. We found that intercropping increased the diversity and richness of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) community in the rhizosphere soil of E. frumentacea. Glomus was the dominant genus in the saline–alkali soil of the Hetao-Ningxia Plain, where Glomeraceae, VTX00067, VTX000193, and VTX000165 were the dominant species. Intercropping improved the activities of soil urease, sucrase, alkaline phosphatase, and catalase. The hay yields of E. frumentacea were correlated positively with soil enzyme activities, Chao1 index, and ACE index, and negatively with total water-soluble salt content. Together, intercropping between E. frumentacea and leguminous forages enhances AMF diversity and soil enzyme activities, which provides an agricultural practice for improving sustainability of the agro-ecosystem in saline–alkali areas.
