Abstract

Purposes The liquid redistributor is an important internal component of packed bed reactor. Most liquid redistributors are optimized for gas-liquid solid coexisting systems, but in the process of lithium extraction from salt lake brine by adsorption, the adsorption tower belongs to the liquid-solid system. It is necessary to research and develop new liquid redistributors to adapt to this special working condition. Methods A new type of standard elliptical head liquid redistributor is proposed, which utilizes an elliptical curved surface to achieve flow collection and a combination structure of a central circular hole and circumferential seams to achieve uniform liquid redistribution in the central area. Findings The results of computational fluid dynamic analysis show that when three circumferential seams with the size of 7 mm are arranged along the center of the ellipsoid with the diameter of 100, 200, and 290 mm outward, the liquid distribution effect is the best. Conclusions Compared with the existing structural scheme of completely cutting off wall flow in liquid redistributors, only reducing the flow area of the wall flow and using an ellipsoidal surface to guide the wall flow to the outside of the mainstream area can solve the problem of liquid flow rate in the near wall area is much lower than that of the center caused by wall viscosity, achieving full and uniform distribution of liquid.

3. Interfacial Bonding Behavior and Lithium Extraction Performance of Electrochemically Switched Ion Exchange Composite Film

Abstract

Purposes Electrochemically switched ion exchange (ESIX) is a novel technology for selective ion separation and recovery, which can be utilized for lithium extraction from salt lakes. In particular, the interfacial bonding behavior between the current collector and the electroactive composite film has an important influence on the electrochemical performance of the composite film. Methods Titanium and carbon-based composite film electrodes were prepared by using titanium plate and graphite plate as current collectors, respectively, with LiMn2O4 as electroactive Li-ion exchange material. The interfacial bonding behavior between the current collector and the composite film was discussed by adhesion test, and the electrochemical performance of different composite film electrodes were analyzed by cyclic voltammetry, AC impedance, and galvanostatic charge-discharge tests. Findings The results show that the adhesion strength between graphite plate and composite film (1.33 N/cm) is about twice that between titanium plate and composite film (0.71 N/cm), and the carbon-based composite film electrode exhibits better electrochemical performance. In addition, the carbon-based composite film electrode has better lithium extraction performance during 10 consecutive ESIX processes. The above results are attributed to the more sufficient adhesion between the graphite plate and the composite film, which leads to better interfacial conductivity, thereby enhancing the electroactivity and cycle stability of the composite film electrode. However, the oxide film formed on the surface of the titanium plate after multiple redox will produce a large interface resistance, thus weakening the conductivity of the titanium plate.

Abstract

Purposes Segmented heating coupled exhaust gas circulation is widely used in large coke ovens, but the optimization of air excess coefficient and air distribution ratio is insufficient. Methods In this paper, the CFD method was used to study the combustion characteristics of coke oven gas in the two-stage heated duplex fire channel under different excess air coefficients and air distribution ratios. Findings The results show that when the air distribution ratio is 65∶35, the consumption rate of each combustible component is the lowest, the attenuation of the highest temperature along the high direction is the least, and the temperature uniformity is the best. The high temperature shows a similar distribution in the range of excess air coefficient α≤1.35. Among them, the flame temperature is the lowest when α＝1.25. NOx concentration increases with the increase of air distribution ratio and decreases with the increase of α. According to comprehensive analysis, the combination of α＝1.25 and air distribution ratio of 65∶35 forms the best air supply mode. The different combustible components in coke oven gas have different consumption rates, with hydrogen being the fastest and CO the slowest. If hydrogen separation is used to develop the hydrogen energy industry, the flame formed by the remaining combustible components will be longer, which is conducive to improving the uniformity of altitude direction temperature.
