BackgroundThe public health system in Bangladesh has been struggling to provide coverage and utilization of basic maternal health care services in pursuit of achieving maternal and child mortality-related goals. Interestingly, the rapid popularization of mobile technology in the country is transforming the landscape of health care access and delivery. However, little is known regarding the use of mobile phones from the perspective of maternal health care service utilization. ObjectiveIn this study, we aimed to investigate the prevalence and sociodemographic pattern of mobile phone use for health services among women and relationship between the use of mobile phone use and the uptake of essential maternal health services (MHSs). MethodsCross-sectional data from the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey on 4494 mothers aged between 15 and 39 years were used in the analysis. Using mobile phones to get health services or advice was hypothesized to have a positive association with the uptake of basic MHSs (antenatal care, ANC, facility delivery services, postnatal care) and postnatal care for the newborn. Data were analyzed using bivariate and multivariable techniques. ResultsMore than a quarter (1276/4494, 28.4%; 95% CI 26.8-30.3) of the women aged 15-39 years reported using mobile phones to get health services with significant sociodemographic variations in the use of mobile phones. Analysis of the specific purposes revealed that, in most cases, mobile phones were used to contact service providers and consult with the same about what to do, whereas a smaller proportion reported using mobile phone for the purposes of arranging money and transportation. Multivariable analysis showed that compared with respondents who reported not using mobile phones for health care services, those who used them had higher odds of making 3+ ANC visits and delivering at a health facility. The odds were slightly higher for rural residents than for those in the urban areas. ConclusionsThe findings of this study conclude that women who use mobile phones are more likely to use ANC and professional delivery services than those who do not. More in-depth studies are necessary to understand the mechanism through which mobile phone-based services enhance the uptake of maternal health care.

In order to elucidate the effect of protein oxidation on physicochemical properties and protein structure of yak longissimus dorsi muscle, muscle samples were treated in a Fenton oxidation system (H2O2 concentrations of 1, 10, 20, 40 and 60 mmol/L) containing 0.6 mol/L NaCl at pH 5.0 or 8.0 for 1 h. The results showed that with the increase of H2O2 concentration, the carbonyl content, surface hydrophobicity and dityrosine content of yak myofibrillar proteins increased, while the contents of total sulfhydryl and active sulfhydryl, solubility, and tryptophan fluorescence intensity decreased. Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) analysis showed that the numbers of myosin heavy chain and actin bands decreased after protein oxidation, and covalent cross-linking occurred between protein molecules via disulfide bonds, which was accompanied by an increase in the centrifugal and cooking loss of muscle. The transverse relaxation time (T2) of muscle was measured by low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and the microstructure of muscle was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was found that the increase in the centrifugal loss and cooking loss of muscle was due to the destruction of muscle microstructure caused by protein oxidation as well as the decrease in unbound water content and the increase in free water content. Muscle centrifugal loss, cooking loss, free water content and the degree of damage of muscle microstructure at pH 8.0 were lower than those at pH 5.0. The results showed that under the same oxidation condition, yak muscle proteins are more prone to oxidative damage and lower water-holding capacity near the isoelectric point.

In order to develop sustained-release films with excellent performance, this study used polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and chitosan (CS) as a film-forming substrate, β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) as a sustained-release agent, and oregano oil (OEO) as an antibacterial and antioxidant to prepare β-CD/CS/PVA composite films with different amounts of added OEO. The effects of addition of different amounts of OEO on the basic properties, physicochemical structure, antibacterial and antioxidant properties, and slow-release performance of the composite films were investigated. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy indicated that none of the components altered the structure of the composite film. Increasing the content of OEO improved the ductility, hydrophobic properties, and light barrier properties, and also significantly increase the antibacterial and antioxidant capacities (P < 0.05). The diameters of inhibition zones of the composite film with 2% OEO against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli was 8.42 and 9.24 mm, respectively, and its DPPH radical scavenging rate was 80.84%. The composite film had excellent sustained-release performance in 95% ethanol, and the active substance in the composite films with 0.5% and 1.5% OEO could be released continuously for 540 min in this medium. It was concluded that the composite film with 2% OEOs had good overall performance, showing great potential for development.

In this paper, we use random forest feature extraction to classify and rank the importance of the behavioral features in the student behavior dataset and obtain the behavioral features with top importance. In the knowledge tracking model, the multidimensional feature strategy is integrated, and the attention weight is introduced in the prediction stage, respectively, so as to predict the results of students’ spatiotemporal behavioral prediction behavioral prediction. The results show that the dormitory area activity has the highest percentage of 30.27%, followed by the teaching area and dining hall area activities. Rest > Study > Eat reflects the regularity of students’ behavior. Behaviors vary at different times of the day. From 0:00 to 7:00, most behaviors are related to rest, while from 8:00 to 11:00, behaviors related to class and eating are predominant. Attending classes abnormally only happened in the second week (3%) and the third week (5%). In the prediction of consumption behavior, the sixth type of students, the average monthly consumption is shallow (541.34) and less frequent (249), and teachers should pay more attention to the life of these students and intervene in the education of mental and physical health.
