3D object detection is the task of detecting the full 3D pose of objects relative to an autonomous platform. It is an important perception system that can be used to plan actions according to the behavior of other dynamic objects in an environment. Due to the poor generalization of object detectors trained and tested on different datasets, this thesis concerns the utilization of unsupervised domain adaptation to train object detectors fit for mobile robotics without any labeled training data. To tackle the problem a novel approach Unsupervised Adversarial Domain Adaptation 3D (UADA3D) is presented to adapt LiDAR-based detectors, through drawing inspiration from the success of adversarial adaptation for 2D object detection in RGB images. The method adds learnable discriminator layers that discriminate between the features and bounding box predictions in the labeled source and unlabeled target data. The gradients are then reversed through gradient reversal layers during backpropagation to the base detector, which in turn learns to extract features that are similar between the domains in order to fool the discriminator. The method works for multi-class detection by simultaneous adaptation of all classes in an end-to-end trainable network and works for both point-based and voxel-based single-stage detectors. The results show that the proposed method increases detection scores for adaptation from dense to sparse point clouds and from simulated data toward the data of a mobile delivery robot, successfully handling the two relevant domain gaps given by differences in marginal and conditional probability distributions., 3D-objektdetektering handlar om att upptäcka hela 3D-positionen för objekt i förhållande till en autonom plattform. Det är ett viktigt perceptionsystem som kan användas för att planera åtgärder baserat på beteendet hos andra dynamiska objekt i en miljö. På grund av den dåliga generaliseringen av objektavkännare som tränats och testats på olika datamängder, handlar denna avhandling om användningen av osuperviserad domänanpassning för att träna objektavkännare som är anpassade för mobila robotar utan några märkta träningsdata. För att tackla problemet presenteras ett nytt tillvägagångssätt Unsupervised Adversarial Domain Adaptation 3D (UADA3D) för att anpassa LiDAR-baserade avkännare, genom att ta inspiration från framgången av mospelaranpassning för 2D-objektdetektering i RGB-bilder. Metoden lägger till inlärbara diskriminatorlager som diskriminerar mellan egenskaperna och prediktionerna i annoterad käll- och oannoterad måldata. Gradienterna är sedan reverserae genom gradientreversering under bakåtpropagering till basdetekorn, som i sin tur lär sig att extrahera egenskaper som är liknande mellan domänerna för att lura diskriminatorn. Metoden fungerar för flerklassdetektering genom samtidig anpassning av alla klasser i ett end-to-end-träningsbart nätverk och fungerar för både punktbaserade och voxelbaserade enstegs detektorere. Resultaten visar att den föreslagna metoden förbättrar detektionen för domänanpassning från täta till glesa punktmoln och från simulerad data till data från en mobil leveransrobot, därmed hanterar metoden framgångsrikt de två relevanta domänskillnaderna i marginella- och betingade sannolikhetsfördelningar.

3D object detection is crucial for the safety and reliability of mobile robots. Mobile robots must understand dynamic environments to operate safely and successfully carry out their tasks. However, most of the open-source datasets and methods are built for autonomous driving. In this paper, we present a detailed review of available 3D object detection methods, focusing on the ones that could be easily adapted and used on mobile robots. We show that the methods do not perform well if used off-the-shelf on mobile robots or are too computationally expensive to run on mobile robotic platforms. Therefore, we propose a domain adaptation approach to use publicly available data to retrain the perception modules of mobile robots, resulting in higher performance. The anadromous Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) is dependent on river connectivity to reach spawning and rearing habitats in rivers. Most rivers are today fragmented by artificial barriers such as hydroelectric powerplants (HEP) which impede this migratory movement. As an effort to mitigate river fragmentation, upstream passages have been built at some impediments, but passage facilitating downstream migration has been commonly disregarded until recently. The increased mortality associated with downstream movement through hydroelectric turbines have caused population declines and extirpation in some areas. A common first measure to improve downstream passage is to increase spill discharge during critical time periods. In this study we aim to evaluate the efficiency of increased spill as a management tool and investigate the effect on environmental and physiological factors on fish passage in River Mörrumsån, Sweden. This was done by tracking salmon smolt using high resolution acoustic telemetry and time-to-event models. The results were then further explored in relation to 2D-hydraulic models of different spill scenarios. The results show that increasing the spill at Upper Hemsjö HEP resulted in a relatively high impediment passage efficiency. Spill gate passage was best explained by the proportion of spill in relation to intake channel discharge and diel period. Increased spill and nights without ambient lights where positively associated with spill gate passage rate. Increased levels of spill seamed to increase the attraction to the spill gate passage zone which could be explained by the increased area of flow directed toward the spill gate observed in the hydraulic model, showing the usefulness of hydraulic models as an additional tool in evaluation and planning of remedial measures. Detta undersöktes genom att använda högupplöst hydroakustisk telemetri för att spåra fisken och genom att analysera rörelsen med hjälp av time-to-event modeller. Tvådimensionella hydrauliska modeller skapades för att ytterligare utforska resultaten i förhållande till olika spill regimer. Den ökade spill regimen resulterade i relativt hög passage effektivitet förbi hindret. Passage genom spill porten kunde bäst förklaras av period på dygnet samt proportionen av spill i förhållande till flödet genom intagskanalen. Ökad passage effektivitet kunde associeras med passage under natten när belysningen på dammen var avstängd samt ökad andel spill i förhållande till flödet genom intagaskanalen. Ökat spill verkade resultera i ökad attraktion till området framför spill porten, vilket skulle kunna förklaras av den ökade ytan av vatten som rör sig mot spill porten som observerades i den hydrauliska modellen. Reliable methods for assessing the ecological status of degraded rivers are essential for evaluating restoration efforts in lotic habitats. Several methods are based on biological indicators, such as benthic macroinvertebrates. The Hester–Dendy multi‐plate sampler is a commonly used tool for sampling macroinvertebrates, but its performance under different environmental conditions is not well understood. In a laboratory experiment, we assessed if fluctuating and increasing water velocity influences the performance of Hester–Dendy samplers, by studying colonization of the samplers in relation to a pre‐determined composition of benthic macroinvertebrates. Biodiversity (Shannon‐Wiener index) of colonizing macroinvertebrates was higher in a constant than in a fluctuating flow treatment, but there was no effect on the number of colonizing individuals. The results suggest a potential bias in the interpretation of biodiversity data from sites with sub‐daily flow changes, for example, downstream of hydropeaking power plants., This study was funded by Energiforsk (HOPE, ref. I takt med en ökande världspopulation ställs allt hårdare krav på primärproducenter att tillgodose råvaror i adekvata mängder. Forskning inom området är av stor vikt för att hitta nya hållbara källor för näringsämnen som exempelvis protein, eftersom produktionen i dagsläget för med sig många miljömässiga nackdelar. I samband med att EU godkänner insekter som livsmedel får fler upp ögonen för eventuella fördelar som de kan bidra med som råvara. Syftet med denna studien är att undersöka vilken påverkan tillsats av syrsmjöl har på färg, textur, gillande och expansion hos extruderad majskrok. Detta är ett steg i riktningen mot implementering av insekter i västerländsk kost. Genom att analysera vatten och proteinhalt i den extruderade produkten, samt mäta dess färg, textur, radiella expansion och gillande hos konsument kan insamlad data ställas mot varandra och eventuella korrelationer belysas. Resultatet från studien visar att vid högre andel syrsmjöl blir texturen kompaktare, expansionen mindre och en färgförändring sker åt det mörkare hållet. De prov med lägre andel tillsatt syrsmjöl, och därmed en bättre expansion, fick högst gillandepoäng på alla frågeställningar i ett konsumenttest., In line with a growing world population, higher demands are put on primary producers to supply raw materials in adequate quantities. Research in the area is of great importance in finding new sustainable sources of nutrients such as protein, which presently brings with it many environmental disadvantages. As the EU approves insects as food, more people are becoming aware of potential benefits they can provide. The purpose of this report is to investigate the effect of the addition of cricket flour on the color, texture, liking and expansion of an extruded corn puff. This is a step towards the implementation of insects in the Western diet. By analyzing the water and protein content of the extruded product, as well as measuring its color, texture, radial expansion and consumer appreciation, collected data can be compared and any correlations can be shown. The results of the study show that with a higher proportion of cricket flour the texture becomes more compact, shows less expansion and a color change toward a darker tone. The samples with a lower proportion of added cricket flour, and thus a better expansion, received the highest points of liking on all the questions in the consumer test.

These words were noted on Confederates from Hay´s Louisiana brigade by their Union captors after the battle of Kelly´s Ford in November 1863. A strange testimony it seems. Many would expect the Confederate Army to look according to myth of the ragged rebel by then. This work is a theory testing case study about Confederate logistics in the American Civil War. The method used is Critical Realism. Railroads, steam ships and wagon trains, operated in a transportation network over the Southern states. This study applies two theoretical perspectives of logistics to find out what was working and what failed the Confederate defensive war strategy. Despite the odds, the South managed to raise an army, adequate for fulfilling their strategic goal of defending their territory, utilize interior lines of communication and put pressure on Washington D.C until the North would consider it not worth the effort. However the Confederate cause was lost due to top-down micro management and a transportation network that utterly failed to get abundant supplies to where they were needed. States rights hampered the mobilization of much needed resources. The agricultural South, a nation of farmers, were successful in arming its troops but failed to feed them.

Molntjänster blir allt mer populärt bland företag och organisationer att anamma. Tekniken har möjligheten att medföra många fördelar, dock kan det uppstå säkerhetsrisker med användningen. Hur ska företag kunna identifiera och skydda sig mot de potentiella säkerhetsrisker som då kan komma att uppstå? Detta arbete har undersökt hur olika organisationer inom olika branscher arbetar mot att kunna säkra och hantera de potentiella säkerhetsrisker som kan uppstå. Detta har gjorts möjligt genom en kvalitativ undersökning i form av fyra intervjuer med ITsäkerhetsspecialister samt en litteraturstudie inom ämnet. Genom intervjuerna så fick vi reda på hur de berörda organisationerna och företagen arbetar just med säkerheten kring sina system samt de molntjänster som de använder. Med hjälp av litteraturstudien skapades en bakgrundsteori som sedan ställdes mot den analyserade empirin som insamlats från intervjuer. Detta tillsammans med en analys gav upphov till en diskussion där det stod klart att för att kunna identifiera diverse säkerhetsrisker så är OWASP Top 10 ett essentiellt dokument och verktyg för alla typer av företag och organisationer. För att kunna arbeta mot att förhindra dessa identifierade riskerna så konstaterades det, med flera andra saker, att ett större fokus bör ligga på de redan etablerade autentiserings- och auktoriseringsmodeller som används., Cloud services are gaining more popularity amongst organizations and companies to embrace. This technology has the capacity to bring a lot of advantages but the use of it can also bring a certain amount of security risks. How should the companies and organizations be able to identify and protect themselves against these potential security risks? This study has investigated how different organizations and companies within different industries work towards securing and dealing with the potential security risks. This has been made possible through a qualitative study in the form of four interviews with IT security specialists as well as a literature study on the subject of matter. Through the interviews, we learned how the companies and organizations involved work with the security of their systems as well as their cloud services. Through the literature study a background theory was created which was then compared with the analyzed empirical data collected from the interviews. This together with an analysis gave rise to a discussion where it was clear that in order to identify various security risks the OWASP Top 10 is an essential document for all companies and organizations. In order to work towards preventing these identified risks, it was clear that amongst several things a greater focus should be on the already established authentication and authorization models used.

För livsmedelsproducenter som riktar in sig på att använda insekter som alternativ proteinkälla och som ingrediens finns det kvalitativa problem som behöver lösas. Att använda insekter som alternativ proteinkälla är att spara på naturresurser eftersom 1 kilo insektsprotein kräver cirka 1,7 kilo föda (FAO 2013). Detta kan jämföras med nötkreatur som kräver cirka sex kilo föda för att få fram 1 kilo protein. Ett av dessa problem är fetthärskning som är vanligt förekommande vid lång lagring av insektsprodukter. Mjölmask är en larv av insekten mjölbagge, vars fett innehåller fleromättade fettsyror som linol- och linolensyra som är känsligt mot lipidoxidation. I fettrika livsmedelsprodukter som mjölmask skapas frånstötande doft och smak från malondialdehydpartiklar och andra härskningsprodukter som bildats från nedbrytningen av lipider genom oxidation. Vid lipidoxidation skapas primära och sekundära produkter. Den primära oxidationen går att mäta genom titrering med jod då mängden peroxidas bestäms och den sekundära oxidationen kan bestämmas genom kolorimetri där man mäter mängden malondialdehyd. Mjölmaskproverna förvarades i exsickatorer som placerades i värmeskåp. Exsickatorerna höll en relativ fuktighet på nära 50 % och värmeskåpet höll nära 50 ℃ för störst chans att uppnå lipidoxidation. I denna studie användes båda metoderna. Mjölmaskarna delades upp i fem provserier och torkning utfördes på samtliga provserier. Första provserien bestod av obehandlad, men torkad, mjölmask (TN). Provserie nummer två av adderad fiskolja (TF), den tredje provserien av adderad antioxidant (TC) och den fjärde provserien av rostad mjölmask (TR). Provserie nummer fem bestod av torkad, rostad mjölmask med adderad antioxidant (TRC). Det torkade och rostade provet visade sig mest effektiv mot lipidoxidation då primäroxidationen reducerades i jämförelse med det torkade naturella provet. To decipher the populations of cells present in the human fetal pancreas and their lineage relationships, we developed strategies to isolate pancreatic progenitors, endocrine progenitors and endocrine cells. Transcriptome analysis of the individual populations revealed a large degree of conservation among vertebrates in the drivers of gene expression changes that occur at different steps of differentiation, although notably, sometimes, different members of the same gene family are expressed. The transcriptome analysis establishes a resource to identify novel genes and pathways involved in human pancreas development. Single-cell profiling further captured intermediate stages of differentiation and enabled us to decipher the sequence of transcriptional events occurring during human endocrine differentiation. Furthermore, we evaluate how well individual pancreatic cells derived in vitro from human pluripotent stem cells mirror the natural process occurring in human fetuses. This comparison uncovers a few differences at the progenitor steps, a convergence at the steps of endocrine induction, and the current inability to fully resolve endocrine cell subtypes in vitro.

Standard methods for seeding monolayer cell cultures in a multiwell plate or dish do not uniformly distribute cells on the surface. With traditional methods, users find aggregation around the circumference, in the centre, or a combination of the two. This variation is introduced due to the macro scale flow of the cell seeding suspension, and movement of the dish before cells can settle and attach to the surface. Reproducibility between labs, users, and experiments is hampered by this variability in cell seeding. We present a simple method for uniform and user-independent the cell seeding using an easily produced uniform cell seeder (UCS) device. This allows precise control of cell density in a reproducible manner. By containing the cell seeding suspension in a defined volume above the culture surface with the UCS, fluctuations in cell density are minimised. Seeding accuracy, as defined by the actual cell density versus the target seeding density is improved dramatically across users with various levels of expertise. We go on to demonstrate the impact of local variation in cell density on the lineage commitment of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) towards pancreatic endoderm (PE). Variations in the differentiation profile of cells across a culture well closely mirror variations in cell density introduced by seeding method–with the UCS correcting variations in differentiation efficiency. The UCS device provides a simple and reproducible method for uniform seeding across multiple culture systems.

The production of insulin-producing β cells from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) in vitro represents a promising strategy for a cell-based therapy for type 1 diabetes mellitus. To explore the cellular heterogeneity and temporal progression of endocrine progenitors and their progeny, we performed single-cell qPCR on more than 500 cells across several stages of in vitro differentiation of hESCs and compared them with human islets. We reveal distinct subpopulations along the endocrine differentiation path and an early lineage bifurcation toward either polyhormonal cells or β-like cells. We uncover several similarities and differences with mouse development and reveal that cells can take multiple paths to the same differentiation state, a principle that could be relevant to other systems. Notably, activation of the key β-cell transcription factor NKX6.1 can be initiated before or after endocrine commitment. The single-cell temporal resolution we provide can be used to improve the production of functional β cells. In this article, Honoré, Grapin-Botton, and colleagues use single-cell expression profiling to show a differentiation sequence from hESCs to pancreatic endocrine cells and early divergence of paths to different endocrine subtypes. Two paths lead to β-cell differentiation where NKX6.1 can be initiated before or after endocrine commitment.

This bachelor's thesis consists of a product development project performed for Volvo Penta's transmissions department. In line with Volvo Penta's vision of Easy Boating, the problem description entailed, to make boating easier by developing concepts for the steering of boats. The goal was to develop three concepts which suited the requirements provided by the project owner. The bachelor's thesis was preceded by a study, in the form of a concept generation process. The project was initiated with a concept generation process, in parallel with a requirement analysis. This concept generation was performed with the assistance of tools from the Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskikh Zadatch (TRIZ) methodology. Utilised parts from TRIZ are tools for identifying free resources, finding and resolving undesirable contradictions and predicting the next step of development of a system. In accordance with the methods of Set-Based Engineering, the generated concepts were not chosen for their merit, but instead eliminated based on requirements and developed knowledge. To accomplish this, the requirements were collected from the identified stakeholders of the project and ranked based on their respective weight. The requirements were used in the elimination of the concepts which was performed in three stages: pruning of concepts, concept screening and ultimately, concept scoring. These three stages were based on the literature and chosen because of their ability to incorporate the requirements in the elimination. As a result of the elimination process six concepts of two different product categories, addons to existing solutions and complete new systems, were presented to Volvo Penta in combination with a product development plan. The result of six concepts was obtained since none of the concepts categories could be eliminated by the requirements collected in the process and therefore it was decided to present tree from each category.

Inledning En aktuell debatt i samhället är den om hälsan. Övervikten ökar, psykisk ohälsa ökar och vi rör oss allt mindre än förr. Detta gäller även barnen. Förskolan har som uppdrag att främja hälsan och ge barnen de verktyg de behöver för att kunna leva ett hälsosamt liv. Det är därförintressant att undersöka hur förskollärarna arbetar med hälsan i förskolan. Syfte Syftet med studien är att undersöka förskollärares uppfattningar om hälsa och deraserfarenheter av att arbeta med hälsa i förskoleverksamheten. Frågor som fokuseras på: Vad innebär hälsa för förskollärarna? Vilka erfarenheter har förskollärarna av ett arbete med hälsa i förskolan? Metod I studien har kvalitativ metod använts. Fem förskollärare har intervjuats på två olika förskolor med barn i åldrarna 1-5 år. Resultat Resultatet från undersökningen visar att förskollärarna uppfattar hälsan som en viktig del iförskolan. Förskollärarna i studien beskriver att ett arbete med hälsan är betydelsefullt,eftersom det är viktigt att tillhandahålla en god hälsa genom hela livet. Arbetet med hälsankretsar kring aktiviteter som främjar den fysiska hälsan. Förskollärarna beskriver även att detär viktigt att barnen känner att de har vänner och är omtyckta på förskolan, vilket främjar denpsykiska och sociala hälsan. Stress är även något som barnen ofta utsätts för i vardagenbeskriver förskollärarna. I och med detta behöver barnen aktiviteter för att finna en sinnesrobeskrivs det. Samtliga förskollärare i studien är överens om att arbetet med hälsan äger rum iverksamheten och att de använder metoder som främjar den. Aktiviteter för att främja hälsanär rörelselekar inomhus, fri lek utomhus och avslappning för att minska stress. Förskollärarnabeskriver även hur de aktivt arbetar nära barnen för att stötta dem till att skapa relationer,vilket de anser vara viktigt för barnens välmående. Förskollärarna i studien redogör för att deönskar mer kunskaper inom området hälsa. Vissa gör även uttryck för att de behöver ökadekunska
