Abstract

The primary objective of this study is the development of Cu/Nb composite materials for Superconducting Radio-Frequency (SRF) applications under extreme service conditions characterized by a strong RF electromagnetic field, extremely low temperatures, and relatively low heat loss. A novel integrated manufacturing approach is proposed, which combines cold-sprayed AgCuTi alloy as an intermediate coating on the Nb surface and an electroplated Cu layer with a subsequent heat treatment brazing effect. This strategy aims to address the significant challenge of non-intermelting Cu and Nb while also considering effective lateral heat transfer. Mechanical property tests showed that the bond strength of Nb/AgCuTi/Cu composites exceeded 150 MPa. Low-temperature thermal transport tests indicate that the Residual Resistance Ratio (RRR) of the Cu layer surpasses 150, with a thermal conductivity at 4.2 K exceeding 1600 W/(m·K). Moreover, both the composite interface and mechanical properties of the specimens remain stable even after undergoing cyclic cold shock experiments. These findings suggest that the Nb/AgCuTi/Cu composite material developed in this study meets the technical requirements for long-term stable and high-performance operation in high-current and high-power superconducting accelerators.

2. Incremental Dual Heuristic Dynamic Programming Based Hybrid Approach for Multi-Channel Control of Unstable Tailless Aircraft

Abstract

Actor-critic based online reinforcement learning control has been proved to be promising method for control of aerial vehicles. However, it is difficult to guarantee high-level success rate of initial training and to tune the large amount of parameters for actors and critics considering unstable multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) aircraft. In order to facilitate and simplify the training of the actor and critic for unstable aircraft, classic stability augmentation system (SAS) is designed for the open-loop aircraft first. Then the online incremental model based dual heuristic dynamic programming (IDHP) method, which has been proposed recently, is extended in application to design a multi-channel robust adaptive controller, and MIMO form network structures are designed and determined for the actors and critics considering the three-channel coupling issues. Consequently, the classic SAS and the IDHP controller make up a novel hybrid control framework. In this control framework, the SAS takes charge of counteracting the unstable eigenvalues of the open-loop aircraft system, and the IDHP takes charge on guaranteeing robust and adaptive performance for high-performance tailless aircraft equipped with the SAS. Specifically, the introduction of the classic control method decreases the difficulty of the initial training for multi-channel IDHP controller. The tuning process for initial parameters of actor and critic neural networks in multiple channels is greatly facilitated. Without the help of SAS, the initial training for multi-channel IDHP controllers of unstable plants is almost impossible to succeed. Finally, the novel hybrid control architecture and method are validated using the Innovative Control Effectors (ICE) model, which has unstable modes in the longitudinal dynamics. Typical aerodynamic model uncertainties are numerically simulated to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

5. Null-Space-Excitation-Based Adaptive Control for an Overactuated Hexacopter Model

Abstract

This paper proposes a novel adaptive control structure featured by large closed-loop bandwidth and satisfactory parameter estimation results. The proposed baseline control structure is consisted of a velocity controller, an angular rate controller, and a pseudo-inverse-method-based control allocation module. For multirotor systems with immobile propellers, this structure is able to provide commands of pseudo inputs without redundancy. These commands will then be allocated through control allocation matrix possessing necessary elements. By using noncascaded velocity controller and considering actuator dynamics, the bandwidth of whole controller is broadened and a chance of estimating control effectiveness together with bandwidths of actuators appears. The null space excitation method is developed in this paper for assisting in parameter estimation, which will inject excitation signals in null space of control allocation matrix and therefore will not influence allocation results. This method is able to enlarge data information evaluated by Fisher information matrix. Hence, estimating parameters with these excitation signals is faster and more accurate than estimations in common methods. Designed null-space-excitation-based adaptive controller is validated on a complex high-fidelity hexacopter model and shows satisfactory performance in terms of control and parameter estimation.

Abstract

Shanghai HIgh repetition rate XFEL aNd Extreme light facility (SHINE) is a free electron laser facility, which will provide research methods such as high-resolution imaging for many disciplines. The pixel detector, which is in the pre-research stage, is one of most important components of the facility. The current target data rate of the pixel detector in SHINE is about 100 GB/s. Considering the high data rate, the 10G/40G Ethernet firmware for pixel detector in SHINE was developed on field programmable gate array (FPGA), which will lead to more integrated electronic design and make the system smaller. The firmware converts the media independent interfaces (MII) of 10G and 40G Ethernet to each other and uses a polling method to process data from four 10G Ethernet channels. Based on the above methods, the firmware can merge four 10G Ethernet channels into one 40G Ethernet channel. The firmware successfully transmits data between the data source and the server. The bandwidth of the firmware is 36.66 Gbps when the computer equipped with 10G network interface controller (NIC) is set as the data source. Through joint test with the 1G/10G hub and SiTCP, the bandwidth of firmware is 36.3 Gbps. And 40 SiTCP nodes whose system clock frequency can exceed 125 MHz can be used as the data source of the firmware, which will provide a variety of technical solutions for pixel detector.

Abstract

HEPS-BPIX is a prototype of photon counting pixel detector developed for the High Energy Photon Source. It consists of 16 silicon pixel modules which should be tested individually to ensure the function and performance. Due to various factors such as the non-uniformity of the processes and voltage drop, the response of each pixel in the silicon pixel module is not identical completely. The response difference of pixels can be minimized by the threshold calibration. This system is developed for the quality test and calibration of the silicon pixel modules. The system consists of a mother board, a control board and a data acquisition (DAQ) system. The mother board provides necessary resources including power supplies and the fanout of calibration signals. Besides, it can be used to test the connectivity by monitoring the power states. The control board reads data out and provides the clock, trigger and configuration data for the silicon pixel module. The DAQ system sends the control commands and receives the readout data through an Ethernet link. Compared with the previous readout system, this designed system has a lower noise level and better scanning curves making the calibration more accurate. And it has been successfully applied to the comparison experiments of the through silicon via and wire-bonding silicon pixel modules. The results show that this test system can be used to the quality test and calibration of the silicon pixel modules. In addition, the system can be adapted to the measurement of different pixel array detector modules.

Abstract

For different flight phases in an overall flight mission, different control and allocation preferences should be pursued considering lift, drag or maneuverability characteristics. The multi-objective flight control allocation problem for a multi-phase flight mission is studied. For an overall flight mission, different flight phases namely climbing, cruise, maneuver and gliding phases are defined. Firstly, a multi-objective control allocation problem considering drag, lift or control energy preference is constructed. Secondly, considering different control preferences at different flight phases, the analytic hierarchical process method is used to construct a comprehensive performance index from different objectives such as lift or drag preferences. The active set based dynamic programming optimization method is used to solve the real-time optimization problem. For the validation, the Innovative Control Effector (ICE) tailless aircraft nonlinear model and the angular acceleration measurements based adaptive Incremental Backstepping (IBKS) are used to construct the validation platform. Finally, an overall flight mission is simulated to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed multi-phase and multi-objective flight control allocation method. The results show that the comprehensive performance index for different phases, which are determined from the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, can suitably satisfy the preference requirements for different flight phases.

Abstract

High Energy Photon Source-Test Facility is a project to study and verify the feasibility of the key technologies which will be applied to that of High Energy Photon Source (HEPS). The pixel array detector is one of the most important components of synchrotron radiation detection. In order to meet the requirements of the X-ray detection of HEPS, it was asked to independently develop a pixel array detector prototype with an effective detection area larger than $$8 \times 8\,\text {cm}^{2}$$, a spatial resolution better than 200 $$\upmu $$m, a detectable energy range from 8 to 20 keV, and a frame rate higher than 1 kHz. The readout electronics system using the field-programmable gate array (FPGA) as its core of the digital logic makes the basic functions of the detector prototype feasibility by implementing all the configuration and data readout of the BPIX which is the dedicated pixel readout chip designed for Chinese next generation of synchrotron light source and working in the single-photon counting mode. Considering the large amount of data generated by pixel detectors and the demand for real-time data acquisition at higher frame rates, a firmware based on the TCP/IP protocol was developed in FPGA. The implementation of 1 G/10 G Ethernet hub firmware provides a method of processing multi-ports Gigabit data and improving bandwidth. The key idea is the conversion of the GMII/XGMII bus in 1 G/10 G Ethernet protocol and the Arbitrator module applying Round-Robin algorithms. The firmware converts and gathers TCP/IP frames from Gigabit network to 10-Gigabit network successfully. Through measurement, the bandwidth of the hub can reach 8.57 Gbps. A pixel detector integrated with 1 G/10 G Ethernet hub completes the readout of large flux data on 1.5 mega pixels detector at 1.2 kHz frame rate.

13. Identification of CFH and FHL2 as biomarkers for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Abstract

BackgroundIdiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a fatal disease of unknown etiology with a poor prognosis, characterized by a lack of effective diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The role of immunity in the pathogenesis of IPF is significant, yet remains inadequately understood. This study aimed to identify potential key genes in IPF and their relationship with immune cells by integrated bioinformatics analysis and verify by in vivo and in vitro experiments.MethodsGene microarray data were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) for differential expression analysis. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified and subjected to functional enrichment analysis. By utilizing a combination of three machine learning algorithms, specific genes associated with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) were pinpointed. Then their diagnostic significance and potential co-regulators were elucidated. We further analyzed the correlation between key genes and immune infiltrating cells via single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA). Subsequently, a single-cell RNA sequencing data (scRNA-seq) was used to explore which cell types expressed key genes in IPF samples. Finally, a series of in vivo and in vitro experiments were conducted to validate the expression of candidate genes by western blot (WB), quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), and immunohistochemistry (IHC) analysis.ResultsA total of 647 DEGs of IPF were identified based on two datasets, including 225 downregulated genes and 422 upregulated genes. They are closely related to biological functions such as cell migration, structural organization, immune cell chemotaxis, and extracellular matrix. CFH and FHL2 were identified as key genes with diagnostic accuracy for IPF by three machine learning algorithms. Analysis using ssGSEA revealed a significant association of both CFH and FHL2 with diverse immune cells, such as B cells and NK cells. Further scRNA-seq analysis indicated CFH and FHL2 were specifically upregulated in human IPF tissues, which was confirmed by in vitro and in vivo experiments.ConclusionIn this study, CFH and FHL2 have been identified as novel potential biomarkers for IPF, with potential diagnostic utility in future clinical applications. Subsequent investigations into the functions of these genes in IPF and their interactions with immune cells may enhance comprehension of the disease’s pathogenesis and facilitate the identification of therapeutic targets.

Abstract

The decay ψ′→π+π−π0 is analyzed using a sample of 14 million ψ′ events taken with the BESII detector at the BEPC, and the branching fraction is measured to be B(ψ′→π+π−π0)=(18.1±1.8±1.9)×10−5. A partial wave analysis is carried out using the helicity amplitude method. ψ′→ρ(770)π is observed, and the branching fraction is measured to be B(ψ′→ρ(770)π)=(5.1±0.7±1.1)×10−5, where the first error is statistical and the second one is systematic. A high mass enhancement with mass around 2.15 GeV/c2 is also observed. Attributing this enhancement to the ρ(2150) resonance, the branching fraction is measured to be B(ψ′→ρ(2150)π→π+π−π0)=(19.4±2.5−3.4+11.5)×10−5. The results will help in the understanding of the longstanding “ρπ puzzle” between J/ψ and ψ′ hadronic decays.

Abstract

The calibration process for a hybrid pixel detector designed for the High Energy Photon Source in China, called HEPS-BPIX, is presented in this article. The relationship between the energy and threshold is quantified for the threshold calibration based on a threshold scanning. For threshold trimming, a precise algorithm based on local digital to analog converter (LDAC) characteristics and a fast algorithm based on LDAC scanning are proposed in this article to study the performance of threshold digital to analog converters (DACs) that will be applied to pixels. The threshold dispersion was reduced from 46.28 mV without the algorithm to 6.78 mV with the precise algorithm, whereas it was 7.61 mV with the fast algorithm. For temperatures from 5 °C to 60 °C, the threshold dispersion of the precise algorithm varies in the range of 5.69 mV. In contrast, it is 33.21 mV with the fast algorithm, which can be recorrected to 1.49 mV. The measurement results show that the fast algorithm could obtain the applicable threshold dispersion for a silicon pixel module and took less time. In comparison, the precise algorithm could obtain better threshold dispersion but was time-consuming. The temperature dependence of the silicon pixel module noise was also studied to assess the detector working status. The minimum detectable energy threshold could be reduced to 0.83–4.36 keV at a temperature of 5 °C.

Abstract

HEPS-BPIX3 is the third prototype of a single-photon counting pixel detector with 1.4 million pixels developed for applications using synchrotron light sources. It follows the previous prototypes with a pixel size of 150 μ m × 150 μ m and frame rate up to 1.2 kHz at 20-bit dynamic range. We started to upgrade it with the through silicon via (TSV) process to reduce the insensitive gap between modules. The TSV process drills vias at the pads of the readout chip, and makes connections between the front and back sides. The redistribution layer (RDL) and bump bonding are performed at the bottom of readout chip to connect the control, readout signals and power supplies to the PCB. By using this so-called three-dimensional (3D) integration techniques, the insensitive area of the module is reduced from 26.3% to 11.8%. The assembled modules have been tested with X-ray and synchrotron light source, and the results show that the readout chips work well following the TSV process without any measurable performance degradation.

Abstract

The High Energy Photon Source (HEPS) is a new research facility currently under construction in Beijing, China. HEPS-BPIX2 is the second prototype of photon counting pixel detector developed at Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) to comply with the requirements of the HEPS. It follows the first prototype, HEPS-BPIX, with a pixel size of 150 μ m x 150 μ m and frame rate up to 1.2 kHz at 20-bit dynamic range, but upgrades with transmission control protocol (TCP) hardware stack on 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) for large-area multi-modules system. One million-pixel detector with 16 modules, covering an area of 16.32 cm x 18.3 cm, is integrated, and it has demonstrated the basic functionality with X-ray and synchrotron light. The readout system is organized in parallel with groups and in daisy-chain in each group, achieving 23 Gbps data at full 1.2 kHz frame rate.

Abstract

To provide the generic clock, trigger and control function and fulfill the data transmission performance requirement in high energy physics (HEP) experiments, a MicroTCA Fast Control board (uFC) was developed based on the Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) specification. Built around the Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA, the uFC provides users with a platform with data memory, reference clock, trigger and SFP+ (Small Form-factor Pluggable) connections that are required in general experiment. In addition, it has access to two on-board FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) sockets with a large array of configurable I/O and high-speed links up to 10 Gbps. Abstract

Using a data sample with a total integrated luminosity of 10.0 pb −1 collected at center-of-mass energies of 2.6, 3.07 and 3.65 GeV with BESII, cross sections for e + e − annihilation into hadronic final states ( R values) are measured with statistical errors that are smaller than 1%, and systematic errors that are about 3.5 % . The running strong interaction coupling constants α s ( 3 ) ( s ) and α s ( 5 ) ( M Z 2 ) are determined from the R values.

Abstract

We report measurements of the line shapes of D + D − , D 0 D ¯ 0 and D D ¯ production as well as the line shape of the ratio of the production rates of D + D − and D 0 D ¯ 0 in e + e − annihilation at ψ ( 3770 ) resonance. We find that the line shapes of D + D − , D 0 D ¯ 0 and D D ¯ production are similar to an anomalous line shape of cross sections for e + e − → hadrons observed in the center-of-mass energy range from 3.70 to 3.87 GeV.

Abstract

By analyzing the R values measured at 68 energy points in the energy region between 3.650 and 3.872 GeV reported in our previous paper, we have precisely measured the mass, the total width and the leptonic width of the ψ ( 3770 ) resonance to be M ψ ( 3770 ) = 3772.4 ± 0.4 ± 0.3 MeV , Γ ψ ( 3770 ) tot = 28.5 ± 1.2 ± 0.2 MeV and Γ ψ ( 3770 ) e e = 277 ± 11 ± 13 eV , respectively. We have measured the leptonic branching fraction of the ψ ( 3770 ) decays and the ψ ( 3770 ) production cross section at its peak to be B [ ψ ( 3770 ) → e + e − ] = ( 0.97 ± 0.03 ± 0.05 ) × 10 −5 and σ prd [ e + e − → ψ ( 3770 ) ] = 10.0 ± 0.3 ± 0.5 nb , respectively. The latter one results in the corresponding observed cross section of σ obs [ e + e − → ψ ( 3770 ) ] = 7.2 ± 0.2 ± 0.4 nb . We have also measured R uds = 2.121 ± 0.023 ± 0.084 for the continuum light hadron production in the region from 3.650 to 3.872 GeV.

Abstract

Results are presented on J / ψ radiative decays to π + π − and π 0 π 0 based on a sample of 58M J / ψ events taken with the BES II detector. Partial wave analyses are carried out using the relativistic covariant tensor amplitude method in the 1.0 to 2.3 GeV / c 2 π π mass range. There are conspicuous peaks due to the f 2 ( 1270 ) and two 0 + + states in the 1.45 and 1.75 GeV / c 2 mass regions. The first 0 + + state has a mass of 1466 ± 6 ± 20 MeV / c 2 , a width of 108 −11 +14 ± 25 MeV / c 2 , and a branching fraction B ( J / ψ → γ f 0 ( 1500 ) → γ π + π − ) = ( 0.67 ± 0.02 ± 0.30 ) × 10 −4 . Spin 0 is strongly preferred over spin 2. The second 0 + + state peaks at 1765 −3 +4 ± 13 MeV / c 2 with a width of 145 ± 8 ± 69 MeV / c 2 . If this 0 + + is interpreted as coming from f 0 ( 1710 ) , the ratio of its branching fractions to ππ and K K ¯ is 0.41 −0.17 +0.11 .

Abstract

Using 14M psi(2S) events taken with the BESII detector, chi(cJ) -> 2(K+K-) decays are studied. For the four-kaon final state, the branching fractions are B(chi(c0,1,2) ->.2(K+K-)) = (3.48 +/- 0.23 +/- 0.47) x 10(-3), (0.70 +/- 0.13 +/- 0.10) x 10(-3), and (2.17 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.31) x 10(-3). For the phi K+K- final state, the branching fractions, which are measured for the first time, are B(chi(c0,1,2) -> phi K+K-) = (1.03 +/- 0.22 +/- 0.15) x 10(-3), (0.46 +/- 0.16 +/- 0.06) x 10(-3), and (1.67 +/- 0.26 +/- 0.24) x 10(-4). For the phi phi final state, B(chi(c0,2) -> phi phi) = (0.94 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.13) x 10(-3) and (1.70 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.25) x 10(-3).

Abstract

Using the BES-II detector at the BEPC Collider, we measured the lowest order cross sections and the R values (R = sigma(0)(e+e--> hadrons)/sigma(0)(e+e-->mu+mu-)) for inclusive hadronic event production at the centre-of-mass energies of 3.650, 3.6648 and 3.773 GeV. The results lead to R-uds = 2.218 +/- 0.019 +/- 0.089 which is the average of these measured at 3.650 GeV and 3.6648 GeV, and R = 3.746 +/- 0.037 +/- 0.187 at root s = 3.773 GeV. We determined the lowest order cross section for psi (3770) production to be sigma(B)(psi)((3770)) = (9.323 +/- 0.253 +/- 0.801) nb at 3.773 GeV, the branching fractions for psi (3770) decays to be BF(psi (3770) -> D-0(D) over bar (0)) = (49.5 +/- 1.3 +/- 3.8)%, BF(psi (3770) -> D+D-) = (35.7 +/- 1.1 +/- 3.4)% and BF(psi (3770) -> D (D) over bar) = (85.5 +/- 1.7 +/- 5.8)%, which result in the total non-D (D) over bar branching fraction of psi(3770) decay to be BF(psi (3770) -> non-D (D) over bar) = (14.5 +/- 1.7 +/- 5.8)%. Abstract

Based on 58 million BESII J / ψ events, the K ¯ ∗ ( 892 ) 0 K + π − channel in K + K − π + π − is studied. A clear low mass enhancement in the invariant mass spectrum of K + π − is observed. The low mass enhancement does not come from background of other J / ψ decay channels, nor from phase space. Two independent partial wave analyses have been performed. Both analyses favor that the low mass enhancement is the κ , an iso-spinor scalar resonant state. The average mass and width of the κ in the two analyses are 878 ± 23 −55 +64 MeV / c 2 and 499 ± 52 −87 +55 MeV / c 2 , respectively, corresponding to a pole at ( 841 ± 30 −73 +81 ) − i ( 309 ± 45 −72 +48 ) MeV / c 2 .

Abstract

Using 58 million J/psi events collected by the BES-II detector at the BEPC, the decays J/psi -> Lambda Lambda and Sigma(0)Sigma(0) are analysed. The branching fractions are measured to be Br(J/psi -> Lambda Lambda) = (2.03 +/- 0.03 +/- 0.15) x 10(-3) and Br(J/psi -> Sigma(0)Sigma(0)) = (1.33 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.11) x 10(-3). The angular distribution is of the form dN/dcos theta = N-0(1 + alpha cos(2)theta), with alpha = 0.65 +/- 0.11 +/- 0.03 for J/psi -> Lambda Lambda and alpha = -0.24 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.07 for J/psi -> Sigma(0)Sigma(0). Abstract

Using 14 million ψ ( 2 S ) events collected with the BESII detector, branching fractions of ψ ( 2 S ) → K ∗ ( 892 ) + K − + c.c. and K ∗ ( 892 ) 0 K ¯ 0 + c.c. are determined to be: B ( ψ ( 2 S ) → K ∗ ( 892 ) + K − + c.c. ) = ( 2.9 −1.7 +1.3 ± 0.4 ) × 10 −5 and B ( ψ ( 2 S ) → K ∗ ( 892 ) 0 K ¯ 0 + c.c. ) = ( 13.3 −2.7 +2.4 ± 1.7 ) × 10 −5 . The results confirm the violation of the “12% rule” for these two decay channels. A large isospin violation between the charged and neutral modes is observed.

Abstract

Based on a sample of 5.8 x 10(7) J/psi events taken with the BESII detector, the branching fractions of J/psi -> 2(pi(+)pi(-))eta and J/psi -> 3(pi(+)pi(-))eta are measured for the first time to be (2.26 +/- 0.08 +/- 0.27) x 10(-3) and (7.24 +/- 0.96 +/- 1.11) x 10(-4), respectively. Abstract

The absolute branching fraction for the decay D + → μ + ν has been directly measured based on a data sample of about 33 pb −1 collected around s = 3.773 GeV with the BES-II detector at the BEPC collider. A total of 5321 ± 149 ± 160 D − mesons are reconstructed in nine hadronic decay modes. In the system recoiling against these singly tagged D − mesons, 2.67 ± 1.74 purely leptonic decay events of D + → μ + ν μ are observed. Those yield the branching fraction of BF ( D + → μ + ν μ ) = ( 0.122 −0.053 +0.111 ± 0.010 ) % , and a corresponding value of the pseudoscalar decay constant f D + = ( 371 −119 +129 ± 25 ) MeV .

Abstract

The ratio of the two partial widths for the decays of D 0 → K − e + ν e and D + → K ¯ 0 e + ν e is determined to be Γ ( D 0 → K − e + ν e ) / Γ ( D + → K ¯ 0 e + ν e ) = 1.08 ± 0.22 ± 0.07 .

Abstract

The uniform distribution of the beam on target is required in some high power beam applications to prolong the target lifetime or to improve the beam utilization. In this paper, a new method is proposed to transform irregular beam distributions in phase space into other kinds of distributions such as parabolic and fourth power in the transverse plane on target by using special nonlinear magnets. The nonlinear magnets can be designed similar to a dipole magnet, in which the emphasis is on the fringe field. The method is especially useful when dealing with beams with large emittance or/and with, dense core and sparse halo. The simulations show that the peak current density in the defined irradiation footprint can be reduced significantly while avoiding cutting off important beam halo due to high beam power. The application of the method to a high beam power accelerator (the ESS project) is also presented, where the peak current density at the target is reduced by a factor of about three. The method of using standard multipole magnets is also discussed, and an application to obtain the fourth power distribution is presented. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract

The absolute branching fractions for the decays D 0 → K − e + ν e and D 0 → π − e + ν e are determined using 7584 ± 198 ± 341 singly tagged D ¯ 0 sample from the data collected around 3.773 GeV with the BES-II detector at the BEPC. In the system recoiling against the singly tagged D ¯ 0 meson, 104.0 ± 10.9 events for D 0 → K − e + ν e and 9.0 ± 3.6 events for D 0 → π − e + ν e decays are observed. Those yield the absolute branching fractions to be BF ( D 0 → K − e + ν e ) = ( 3.82 ± 0.40 ± 0.27 ) % and BF ( D 0 → π − e + ν e ) = ( 0.33 ± 0.13 ± 0.03 ) % . The vector form factors are determined to be | f + K ( 0 ) | = 0.78 ± 0.04 ± 0.03 and | f + π ( 0 ) | = 0.73 ± 0.14 ± 0.06 . The ratio of the two form factors is measured to be | f + π ( 0 ) / f + K ( 0 ) | = 0.93 ± 0.19 ± 0.07 .

Abstract

The lepton flavor violation processes J / ψ → μ τ and eτ are searched for using a sample of 5.8 × 10 7 J / ψ events collected with the BESII detector. Zero and one candidate events, consistent with the estimated background, are observed in J / ψ → μ τ , τ → e ν ¯ e ν τ and J / ψ → e τ , τ → μ ν ¯ μ ν τ decays, respectively. Upper limits on the branching ratios are determined to be Br ( J / ψ → μ τ ) 2.0 × 10 − 6 and Br ( J / ψ → e τ ) 8.3 × 10 − 6 at the 90% confidence level (C.L.).

Abstract

The CP violating processes J / ψ → K 0 S K 0 S and ψ (2 S )→ K 0 S K 0 S are searched for using samples of 58 million J / ψ and 14 million ψ (2 S ) events collected with the Beijing spectrometer at the Beijing electron–positron collider. No signal is observed, and upper limits on the decay branching ratios are determined to be B (J/ψ→K 0 S K 0 S ) −6 and B (ψ(2S)→K 0 S K 0 S ) −6 at the 95% confidence level.

Abstract

We report measurements of the continuum R{sub uds} near the center-of-mass energy of 3.70 GeV, the R{sub uds(c)+{psi}}{sub (3770)}(s) and the R{sub had}(s) values in e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation at 68 energy points in the energy region between 3.650 and 3.872 GeV with the BES-II detector at the BEPC Collider. We obtain the R{sub uds} for the continuum light hadron (containing u, d, and s quarks) production near the DD threshold to be R{sub uds}=2.141{+-}0.025{+-}0.085.

Abstract

Using a data sample of $58\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ decays collected with the Beijing Spectrometer II detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider, searches for invisible decays of $\ensuremath{\eta}$ and ${\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ in $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ to $\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\eta}$ and $\ensuremath{\phi}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ are performed. The $\ensuremath{\phi}$ signals, which are reconstructed in ${K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ final states, are used to tag the $\ensuremath{\eta}$ and ${\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ decays. No signals are found for the invisible decays of either $\ensuremath{\eta}$ or ${\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$, and upper limits at the 90% confidence level are determined to be $1.65\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ for the ratio $\frac{B(\ensuremath{\eta}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{invisible})}{B(\ensuremath{\eta}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma})}$ and $6.69\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}2}$ for $\frac{B({\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{invisible})}{B({\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma})}$. These are the first searches for $\ensuremath{\eta}$ and ${\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ decays into invisible final states.

Abstract

We measure the branching fractions for psi(3770)-->D(0)D[over ](0), D+D-, DD[over ], and non-DD[over ] to be (46.7+/-4.7+/-2.3)%, (36.9+/-3.7+/-2.8)%, (83.6+/-7.3+/-4.2)%, and (16.4+/-7.3+/-4.2)%, respectively. The resonance parameters of psi(3770) and psi(2S) are measured to be M_(psi(3770))=3772.2+/-0.7+/-0.3 MeV, Gamma_(psi(3770))(tot)=26.9+/-2.4+/-0.3 MeV, and Gamma_(psi(3770))(ee)=251+/-26+/-11 eV; M_(psi(2S))=3685.5+/-0.0+/-0.3 MeV, Gamma_(psi(2S))(tot)=331+/-58+/-2 keV, and Gamma_(psi(2S))(ee)=2.330+/-0.036+/-0.110 keV. We also measure the light hadron R value to be R(uds)=2.262+/-0.054+/-0.109 in the energy region from 3.660 to 3.872 GeV.

Abstract

Using $14\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$ events collected with the Beijing Spectrometer (BESII) at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider, the branching fractions of $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$ decays to $p\overline{n}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and $\overline{p}n{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ and the branching fractions of the main background channels $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{n}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$, $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}{\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}p\overline{n}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}{\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c2}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}p\overline{n}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, and $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}{\ensuremath{\chi}}_{cJ}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}p\overline{n}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ are determined. The contributions of the ${N}^{*}$ resonances in $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{n}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}+c.c.$ are also discussed.

Abstract

The decay modes J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}{pi}{sup 0}, {gamma}{eta} and {gamma}{eta}{sup '} are analyzed using a data sample of 58x10{sup 6} J/{psi} decays collected with the BESII detector at the BEPC. The branching fractions are determined to be: Br(J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}{pi}{sup 0})=(3.13{sub -0.47}{sup +0.65})x10{sup -5}, Br(J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}{eta})=(11.23{+-}0.89)x10{sup -4}, and Br(J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}{eta}{sup '})=(5.55{+-}0.44)x10{sup -3}, where the errors are combined statistical and systematic errors. The ratio of partial widths {gamma}(J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}{eta}{sup '})/{gamma}(J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}{eta}) is measured to be 4.94{+-}0.40, and the singlet-octet pseudoscalar mixing angle of {eta}-{eta}{sup '} system is determined.

Using ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{{c}_{J}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}2({\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})p\overline{p}$ decays from $14\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$ events accumulated by the BESII detector at the BEPC, the intermediate states ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\Xi}}}^{+}$, $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\overline{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, and ${K}_{S}^{0}{K}_{S}^{0}p\overline{p}$ are studied, and their branching ratios or upper limits are measured.

Abstract

${K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ final states are studied using a sample of $14\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$ decays collected with the Beijing Spectrometer (BESII) at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. The branching fractions of $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$ decays to ${K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$, $\ensuremath{\omega}{K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, $\ensuremath{\omega}{f}_{0}(1710)$, ${K}^{*}(892{)}^{0}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}+\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{c}.$, ${K}^{*}(892{)}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}+\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{c}.$, ${K}^{*}(892{)}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\rho}}^{0}+\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{c}.$ and ${K}^{*}(892{)}^{0}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\rho}}^{+}+\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{c}.$ are determined. The first two agree with previous measurements, and the last five are first measurements.

Abstract

The decay channel $J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ is analyzed using a sample of $5.8\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{7}$ $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ events collected with the BESII detector. A resonance, the $X(1835)$, is observed in the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ invariant-mass spectrum with a statistical significance of $7.7\ensuremath{\sigma}$. A fit with a Breit-Wigner function yields a mass $M=1833.7\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}6.1(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.7(\mathrm{syst})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$, a width $\ensuremath{\Gamma}=67.7\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}20.3(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}7.7(\mathrm{syst})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$, and a product branching fraction $B(J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}X)\ifmmode\cdot\else\textperiodcentered\fi{}B(X\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}})=[2.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.4(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.4(\mathrm{syst})]\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$. The mass and width of the $X(1835)$ are not compatible with any known meson resonance. Its properties are consistent with expectations for the state that produces the strong $p\overline{p}$ mass threshold enhancement observed in the $J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}p\overline{p}$ process at BESII.

Abstract

Non-$D\overline{D}$ decay $\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\pi}$ is searched for using a data sample of $(17.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.5)\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{p}{\mathrm{b}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ taken at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV by the BESII detector at the BEPC. No $\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\pi}$ signal is observed, and the upper limit of the cross section is measured to be $\ensuremath{\sigma}({e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\pi})l6.0\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{pb}$ at 90% C. L. Considering the interference between the continuum amplitude and the $\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)$ resonance amplitude, the branching fraction of $\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)$ decays to $\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\pi}$ is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\pi})\ensuremath{\in}(6.0\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}6},2.4\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3})$ at 90% C. L. This is in agreement with the prediction of the $S$- and $D$-wave mixing scheme of the charmonium states for solving the ``$\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\pi}$ puzzle'' between $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ and $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$ decays.

Abstract

Using data samples collected at {radical}(s)=3.686 GeV and 3.650 GeV by the BESII detector at the BEPC, the branching fraction of {psi}(2S){yields}3({pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}) is measured to be [5.45{+-}0.42(stat){+-}0.87(syst)]x10{sup -4}, and the relative branching fraction of J/{psi}{yields}2({pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}) to that of J/{psi}{yields}{mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} is measured to be [6.01{+-}0.20(stat){+-}0.48(syst)]% via {psi}(2S){yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}J/{psi},J/{psi}{yields}2({pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}). The electromagnetic form factor of 3({pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}) is determined to be 0.19{+-}0.02 and 0.24{+-}0.02 at {radical}(s)=3.650 GeV and 3.686 GeV, respectively.

Abstract

The processes ${\ensuremath{\psi}}^{\ensuremath{'}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ and ${\ensuremath{\psi}}^{\ensuremath{'}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\eta}$ are studied using a sample of $14\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ ${\ensuremath{\psi}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ decays collected with the Beijing Spectrometer at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. The branching fraction of ${\ensuremath{\psi}}^{\ensuremath{'}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ is measured with improved precision as $(13.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.5)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$, and ${\ensuremath{\psi}}^{\ensuremath{'}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\eta}$ is observed for the first time with a branching fraction of $(5.8\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.1\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.7)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$, where the first errors are statistical and the second ones are systematic.

Abstract

Based on $5.8\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{7}J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ events collected with BESII at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider (BEPC), the decay branching fractions of $J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$, $\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\eta}$, and $\ensuremath{\omega}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ are measured using different $\ensuremath{\eta}$ and ${\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ decay modes. The results are higher than previous measurements. The $\ensuremath{\omega}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ electromagnetic form factor is also obtained.
