In this study, 10 min and 2 km high-resolution blended fog data (HRBFD) were generated using grid visibility data (GVD) and data from a GK2A (GEO-KOMPSAT-2A) fog product (GKFP) in Korea. As the blending method, the decision tree method (DTM) was used to consider the different characteristics of the two-input data (categorical data and continuity data). The blending of the two datasets was performed according to the presence or absence of the input data and considered the spatial representation of the GVD and the accuracy of the GKFP. The quality of the HRBFD was evaluated through visual comparison using GVD, GKFP, and visible images of the GK2A. The HRBFD seems to have partly solved the problem of fog detection in areas where visibility meters are rare or absent through the detection of fog occurring in the sea or mountain areas. In addition, the critical problem of the GKFP, which has limitations in detecting fog occurring under clouds, has been mostly overcome. Using the DTM, we generated 23 fog cases of 10 min and 2 km HRBFD. The results confirmed that detailed spatiotemporal characteristics of fog in Korea can be analyzed if such HRBFD is generated for a long time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Dermacoccus barathri is the first reported pathogen within the Dermacoccus genus to cause a catheter-related bloodstream infection, which occurred in 2015. In this study, the complete genome assembly of Dermacoccus barathri was constructed, and the complete genome of Dermacoccus barathri FBCC-B549 consists of a single chromosome (3,137,745 bp) without plasmids. The constructed genome of D. barathri was compared with those of two closely related species within the Dermacoccus genus. D. barathri exhibited a pattern similar to Dermacoccus abyssi in terms of gene clusters and synteny analysis. Contrary to previous studies, biosynthetic gene cluster (BGC) analysis for predicting secondary metabolites revealed the presence of the LAP biosynthesis pathway in the complete genome of D. barathri, predicting the potential synthesis of the secondary metabolite plantazolicin. Furthermore, an analysis to investigate the potential pathogenicity of D. barathri did not reveal any antibiotic resistance genes; however, nine virulence factors were identified in the Virulence Factor Database (VFDB). According to these matching results in the VFDB, despite identifying a few factors involved in biofilm formation, further research is required to determine the actual impact of D. barathri on pathogenicity. The complete genome of D. barathri is expected to serve as a valuable resource for future studies on D. barathri, which currently lack sufficient genomic sequence information. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To directly compare the radiation and imaging isocenters of a proton treatment machine, we developed and evaluated a real‐time radiation isocenter verification system. Methods: The system consists of a plastic scintillator (PI‐200, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, Tokyo, Japan), an acrylic phantom, a steel ball on the detachable plate, Raspberry Pi 4 (Raspberry Pi Foundation, London, UK) with camera module, and analysis software implemented through a Python‐based graphical user interface (GUI). After kV imaging alignment of the steel ball, the imaging isocenter defined as the position of the steel ball was extracted from the optical image. The proton star‐shot was obtained by optical camera because the scintillator converted proton beam into visible light. Then the software computed both the minimum circle radius and the radiation isocenter position from the star‐shot. And the deviation between the imaging isocenter and radiation isocenter was calculated. We compared our results with measurements obtained by Gafchromic EBT3 film (Ashland, NJ, USA). Results: The minimum circle radii were averaged 0.29 and 0.41 mm while the position deviations from the radiation isocenter to the laser marker were averaged 0.99 and 1.07 mm, for our system and EBT3 film, respectively. Furthermore, the average position difference between the radiation isocenter and imaging isocenter was 0.27 mm for our system. Our system reduced analysis time by 10 min. Conclusions: Our system provided automated star‐shot analysis with sufficient accuracy, and it is cost‐effective alternative to conventional film‐based method for radiation isocenter verification.
