Pectin/polyacrylic acid (PPAA) hydrogel is a unique and versatile biomaterial with applications in drug delivery, wound healing, tissue engineering, and agriculture, owing to its tailored properties and multifunctional attributes. This study aims to harness the therapeutic potential of Strobilanthes urticifolia extract within a PPAA hydrogel matrix to attenuate liver and kidney fibrosis through targeted and sustained delivery of biologically active substances. PPAA hydrogel was prepared by free radical polymerization, followed by its porosity and swelling determination. The results depicted the porous nature of PPAA hydrogel and improved swelling properties at pH 7.4, confirming its drug delivery promise. The polyphenolic‐enriched S. urticifolia extracts of leaf and flower were loaded onto PPAA hydrogel, and the loading efficiency was 87% (leaf) and 62.5% (flower). Moreover, slow‐release studies showed controlled and prolonged release of polyphenols for 7 days. The polyphenolic‐enriched hydrogel's microstructure was characterized using SEM, FTIR, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). SEM results revealed a highly porous structure of polyphenol enriched PPAA hydrogel, while FTIR analysis confirmed the presence of functional groups such as OH group of carboxylic acid, aliphatic CH2 stretching due to acrylic acid grafting with pectin, CO stretching due to acid linkage with pectin, CH of aromatic ring, and CH of carboxylate salt in PPAA hydrogel. TGA of PPAA hydrogel showed its stability up to 488°C. Additionally, the S. urticifolia extract loaded PPAA hydrogel displayed significant antibacterial properties and minimum inhibitory concentrations against both Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria. In vivo studies carried out on rats demonstrated that polyphenolic enriched PPAA hydrogel significantly attenuates liver and kidney fibrosis. Therefore, it is concluded from the present study that loading of polyphenolic enriched extract from leaves and flower of S. urticifolia enhanced the biomedical applications of PPAA hydrogel. Iron oxide nanoparticles (NPs) have attracted substantial interest due to their superparamagnetic features, biocompatibility, and nontoxicity. The latest progress in the biological production of Fe3O4 NPs by green methods has improved their quality and biological applications significantly. In this study, the fabrication of iron oxide NPs from Spirogyra hyalina and Ajuga bracteosa was conducted via an easy, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective process. The fabricated Fe3O4 NPs were characterized using various analytical methods to study their unique properties. UV-Vis absorption peaks were observed in algal and plant-based Fe3O4 NPs at 289 nm and 306 nm, respectively. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy analyzed diverse bioactive phytochemicals present in algal and plant extracts that functioned as stabilizing and capping agents in the fabrication of algal and plant-based Fe3O4 NPs. X-ray diffraction of NPs revealed the crystalline nature of both biofabricated Fe3O4 NPs and their small size. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that algae and plant-based Fe3O4 NPs are spherical and rod-shaped, averaging 52 nm and 75 nm in size. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy showed that the green-synthesized Fe3O4 NPs require a high mass percentage of iron and oxygen to ensure their synthesis. The fabricated plant-based Fe3O4 NPs exhibited stronger antioxidant properties than algal-based Fe3O4 NPs. The algal-based NPs showed efficient antibacterial potential against E. coli, while the plant-based Fe3O4 NPs displayed a higher zone of inhibition against S. aureus. Moreover, plant-based Fe3O4 NPs exhibited superior scavenging and antibacterial potential compared to the algal-based Fe3O4 NPs. This might be due to the greater number of phytochemicals in plants that surround the NPs during their green fabrication. This study aims to examine the biogenic production, characterization, and anti-acetylcholinesterase (AAChE) properties of polyherbal formulation PHF-extract-synthesized silver nanoparticles (PHF-AgNPs). The Elapidae snake Bungarus sindanus has extremely dangerous venom for humans and contains a high amount of AChE (acetylcholinesterase). Inhibiting AChE leads to acetylcholine buildup, affecting neurotransmission. The study tested silver nanoparticles as AChE inhibitors using kinetics. Their production was confirmed through ultraviolet (UV) spectrometry at 425 nm (SPR peak of 1.94), and stabilizing functional groups were identified via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The average length of 20 nm was confirmed by analyzing the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) data. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) identified silver as the primary component of PHF-AgNPs (26%). Statistical analysis showed that the activity of AChE in krait venom decreased by up to 45% and 37% at a given dose of ACh (0.5 mM) by PHF and AgNPs, respectively. Utilizing the Lineweaver-Burk plot for kinetic analysis, a competitive type of inhibition is found. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS: Successfully synthesized PHF-extract-induced silver nanoparticles (PHF-AgNPs) demonstrated through UV spectrometry and characterized as crystalline with an average size of 45 nm by X-ray diffraction. PHF-AgNPs effectively inhibited acetylcholinesterase (AChE), an enzyme critical in neurotransmission, reducing its activity in krait venom by up to 45% at certain concentrations. Plants are a rich source of bioactive compounds with significant pharmaceutical and health applications. This study explores the phytochemical, therapeutic, and phytotoxic properties of Melia azedarach by analyzing extracts from its bark, flowers, leaves, and fruits using six solvents: ethanol, methanol, acetone, hexane, chloroform, and distilled water. Twenty-one phytochemical tests were conducted, revealing significantly positive results for various tests. However, the ethanolic and methanolic flower extracts yielded no significant results in other tests. The highest total phenolic content was found in the chloroform extract of the leaves (96 ± 0.01 mg/100 g), and the highest antioxidant activity was observed in the ethanolic and hexane leaf extracts, with a 98% DPPH scavenging rate. Antibacterial testing showed significant efficacy against Serratia marcescens, Bacillus subtilis, Kluyvera spp., and Pseudomonas spp., with p values < 0.0001. The fruit chloroform extract demonstrated the highest alpha-amylase inhibition (93 ± 0.05), while the ethanolic leaf extract had the greatest tumor inhibition (85.6 ± 0.5). Insecticidal assays revealed that the acetone bark extract had the highest control values (56% and 57%). Due to their higher reducing potential, the leaves were used to biosynthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, EDX, and SEM, revealing an average particle size of 20-30 nm and spherical morphology. The AgNPs exhibited excellent antibacterial, antioxidant, antidiabetic, and insecticidal activities. Green synthesis of nanoparticles (NPs) is preferred for its affordability and environmentally friendly approach. This study explored the synthesis and characterization of silver NPs (AgNPs) and examined their impact on the growth of Zea mays, both alone and in combination with nickel chloride (NiCl 2 ). A methanolic leaf extract was combined with silver nitrate to synthesize AgNPs. Characterization of NPs was carried out through UV-vis spectroscopy, FT-IR, x-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Eleven treatments (T1-T11) were made, and Z. mays seeds were subjected to NiCl 2 in pots after being soaked in AgNPs solution. Treatments were arranged to evaluate the effects of NiCl 2 (T1-T3), AgNPs (T4 and T5), and the interactive effects of AgNPs and NiCl 2 (T6-T11) on the planted seeds. UV-vis peaks at 410 nm confirmed the presence of AgNPs. The crystalline nature of AgNPs was confirmed through XRD analysis, and the presence of functional groups from biomolecules and capping agents was shown in FT-IR. The morphology of the NPs and elemental analysis were conducted using SEM and EDS, respectively. The size of the NPs was found 25-50 nm using Nano Measurer software. Growth inhibition was noticed in NiCl 2 -treatments T1-T3. Maximum growth and 100% seed germination were observed in NP-treated seeds (T4 and T5). These two treatments also showed the highest germination index, root/shoot growth, and fresh/dry weights. In treatments T6-T11, the interaction between NiCl 2 and AgNP-soaked seeds showed that while AgNP concentrations alone promoted growth, this enhancement was suppressed by the presence of NiCl 2 in the soil. The inhibited values of T6-T11 were still greater than the control, indicating that soaking Z. mays seeds in AgNPs enhanced growth and mitigated nickel stress in the soil. Pigments, carbohydrates, and protein contents were highest in T4 and T5, whereas NiCl 2 reduced these values. Synthesized AgNPs could enhance Z. mays growth and reduce nickel stress at the applied amounts. In this review, we have discussed the invasive and non-invasive treatment options for Parkinson's Disease (PD) following their safety, specificity, and reliability. Initially, this study has highlighted the invasive treatment options and the side effects they possess. A deep understanding of L-Dopa treatment, as oral or infusion, and the use of dopamine agonists has indicated that there is a need to acquire an alternative treatment for PD. The combined therapy with L-Dopa has been proven to affect PD, but with some limitations, such as mild to chronic side effects, with particular requirements of age and health of the patient and a large amount of expenditure. In the discussion of noninvasive methods to treat PD, we have found that this approach is comparatively slow and requires repetitive sessions, but is safe, effective, and reliable at any stage of PD. Electroconvulsive therapy has revealed its effectiveness in various neurological diseases, including PD. Transcranial current stimulation (direct or alternative) has already been shown to have an alleviative response to PD symptoms.
