4. Quantitative determination of a Mesalazine using reversed phase high- performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC)

Abstract

Mesalazine was quantified in a fast, accurate and sensitive way using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method. In this method, a separation column of porous silica particles L10 (300 × 4.6mm) was used, the flow rate is 0.8 ml/min, the column temperature is 25 °C, the reagent wavelength is 230 nm, and the injection volume is 20 μl. As for the mobile phase, it consisted of acetonitrile 10% 0.1 and phisphoric acid 0.1% and 90% water and the pH was 4. The method was validated by calculating the recovery that ranged between (95.0457-102.280%), and the correlation coefficient (0.9991) and linearity (20-160 μg/ml).The method was successfully applied for the quantitative determination of the mentioned drug.

Abstract

Skin cancer is the deadliest diseases compared with all other kinds of cancer. In this paper various pre- and post-treatments are proposed for improving automated melanoma diagnosis of dermoscopy images. At first pre-processing have done to exclude unwanted parts, a new triple-A segmentation proposes to extract lesion according to their histogram patterns. Lastly, suggest appending process with testing many factors for superior detection decision. This paper offers a novel approach with testing different detection rules: first system used fuzzy rules based on a different features, a second test has been done by modeled local colours with bag-of-features classifier. Then proposed adding lesion shape on two previous systems as their global form in the first one, while distributing it and appending with local colour patches in the second system. For each case, different features; various colour models, and many other parameters are examined to decide which settings are more discriminating. Evaluates performance of each method has carried out on (ISIC2019 Challenge) dermoscopic database. The novel processes with their a specific parameters are rising the classification accuracy to 98.26%.

Abstract

Background: Otitis media with effusion is a common otological problem which needs special care in the pediatric age group regarding diagnosis and treatment in order to prevent its complications. Aim: To study the effect of short term effect of intranasal steroid in the management of otitis media with effusion. Patients and Methods: An observational non random therapeutic trial, undertaken from first of March 2010 to the first of April 2011 in the consultation unit of otolaryngology center in surgical specializations Hospital in Medical city. The study involved 60 children aged from 3 to 10 years diagnosed as having bilateral otitis media with effusion. Complete clinical and audiological assessment for all patients was done. Patients were divided into 2 groups: those taking intranasal steroids (an intervention) and the other group who received no steroid treatment. Both groups received the same treatment apart from the intervention mentioned . The reduction in the air bone gap was measured (i.e. the response). Result: Reduction in ABG in the treatment group was significant with (p<.005) and this is consistent with other studies. Conclusion: Short term intranasal mometasone is likely to be effective in treatment of Otitis Media. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Congenital cholesteatoma is defined as cholesteatoma occurring behind an intact tympanic membrane (TM). In the middle ear, it has different stages according to its site and relation with surrounding structures. We report an unusual case which is congenital cholesteatoma in the oval window and posterior mesotympanum surrounding a dehiscent fallopian canal in a young adult without obvious lesion behind intact TM, discussing its management. We have focused light in an unusual case in our practice and concluded that early intervention in such cases is recommended to prevent complications and planning a staged surgery is the treatment of choice.
