Molecular characterisations of genotypes give precise information about the extent of genetic diversity, which assists in the development of an appropriate rice breeding programme. The latest approach in plant biotechnology and molecular breeding, which is the development of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for amplifying DNA, DNA sequencing and data analysis, is an effective technique that can be used for the screening, characterisation and evaluation of genetic diversity. Traits that serve as genetic markers are by definition polymorphic; the more polymorphic the trait, the greater its potential value to germplasm management. The issue of homology may seem insignificant for morphological markers, but the increasing use of molecular markers has heightened its importance. Application of molecular markers is still prohibitively expensive for most large-scale applications in rice breeding programmes, where performance parameters such as yield, quality, disease resistance and other desirable growth characteristics are upgraded. Therefore, marker assisted selection (MAS) methods are currently used for more targeted applications in order to keep up with the rising demand for rice consumption. Since conventional breeding methods will not be able to meet the satisfactory harvest, the application of biotechnological tools is one plausible option to tap into the significant yield potential of rice. Tsunamis are commonly generated by earthquakes beneath the ocean floor, volcanic eruptions, and landslides. The tsunami following the Tonga eruption of 2022 is believed to have been excited by atmospheric pressure fluctuations generated by the explosion of the volcano. The first, fast-traveling tsunami was excited by Lamb waves; however, it has not been clarified observationally or theoretically which type of atmospheric fluctuations excited more prominent tsunami which followd. In this study, we investigate atmospheric gravity waves that possibly excited the aforementioned subsequent tsunami based on observations and atmosphere-ocean coupling simulations. The atmospheric fluctuations are classified as Lamb waves, acoustic waves, or gravity waves. The arrival time of the gravity wave and the simulation shows that the gravity wave propagated at a phase speed of 215 m/s, coinciding with the tsunami velocity in the Pacific Ocean, and suggesting that the gravity wave resonantly excited the tsunami (Proudman resonance). Chemical explosions are ground truth events that provide data, which, in turn, can enhance the understanding of wave propagation, damage assessment, and yield estimation. On 4 August 2020, Beirut, Lebanon was shocked by a catastrophic explosion, which caused devastating damage to the Mediterranean city. A second strong chemical explosion took place at the Xiangshui, China chemical plant on 21 March 2019. Both events generated shock waves that transitioned to infrasound waves, seismic waves, as well as hydroacoustic signals with accompanying T-phases in the case of the Beirut event. In this work, the seismo-acoustic signatures, yields, and associated damage of the two events are investigated. The differentiainterferometry synthetic aperture radar analysis quantified the surface damage and the estimated yield range, equivalent to 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene [C7H5(NO2)3] (TNT), through a "boom" relation of the peak overpressure was evaluated. Infrasound propagation modeling identified a strong duct in the stratosphere with the propagation to the west in the case of the Beirut-Port explosion. In the case of the Xiangshui explosion, the modeling supports the tropospheric propagation toward the Kochi University of Technology (KUT) sensor network in Japan. Although the Beirut yield (202-270 ± 100 tons) was slightly larger than the Xiangshui yield (201 ± 83.5 tons), the near-source damage areas are almost the same based on the distribution of damaged buildings surrounding the explosions.

Introduction: Endotracheal tube (ETT) insertion depth estimation is important for optimal placement of ETT tip and balanced ventilation of the lungs. Various methods are available to determine the ETT insertion depth. The Neonatal Resuscitation Programme recommends the gestational age and nasal-tragus length (NTL) methods for estimating ETT insertion depth during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. However, the prospective data comparing these two methods is lacking., Methods and Analysis: This is an open-label multi-centre randomised controlled trial, where gestational age and NTL methods will be used to determine the initial ETT insertion depth in term and preterm infants that are less than 28 days old, requiring oral intubation in the delivery room or neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)., Sites and Sample Size: The trial is aimed to recruit 454 infants over 3 years across tertiary level NICUs., Outcomes: The primary outcome includes an optimally positioned ETT, defined as an ETT tip between the upper border of the first thoracic vertebra and the lower border of the second thoracic vertebra. The outcome is assessed by a paediatric radiologist, who will be masked to the group assignment. Secondary outcomes are malpositioned ETT tips, pneumothorax, ETT repositioning, chronic lung disease, invasive ventilation days, and death., Analysis: Data will be analysed using the intention-to-treat principle. The primary and categorical secondary outcomes will be compared using the χ 2 test. Adjusted risk ratios of outcomes will be calculated along with 95% CIs through multivariable logistic regression analysis, including covariates deemed biologically to influence the outcomes., Ethics and Dissemination: The study has been approved by the PNU Research Ethics Board (20-0148) and the respective ethical review boards of the participating centres. The Kochi University of Technology (KUT) Infrasound Sensor Network contains 30 infrasound sensors which are distributed all over Japan especially in Shikoku Island. At all infrasound stations installed with three-axis accelerometers to measure the peak ground acceleration (PGA). Many earthquakes were detected by our system after establishing of the network since 2016. In this study we will focus on all the possibilities for infrasound detection generated from earthquakes using KUT sensor network and International Monitoring system (IMS) stations for the earthquakes which were detected in southern part of Japan during 2019. As for earthquakes with strike-slip mechanisms the P-waves could not be detected by our sensors. In addition, The conversion from seismic to acoustic waves can be happened through the generating of the T-phase from oceanic earthquakes. On 9 May 2019, progressive multi-channel cross correlation (PMCC) method applied infrasound and hydroacoustic waves from two earthquakes happened in west of Kyushu Island as the T-phase was well-recorded at H11N station near Wake Island. Moreover, infrasound propagation modeling is applied to the reconstructed atmosphere profile by Ground to Space Model (AVO-G2S) to confirm the infrasound arrivals, furthermore the 3D ray tracing process and the calculations by using the transmission loss equation with normal modes and parabolic equation methods are investigated. The study confirmed the infrasound generation scenario from the T-phase of oceanic propagation.
