The correlation of agromorphological traits can be useful for breeders in the selection of plant genotypes. In this study, the rosette period (days), days of maturity, plant height (cm), 1000-seed weight (g), and seed yield (kg ha–1) characteristics of 42 different Camelina genotypes that grown in Ankara (middle Anatolia) and Şanlıurfa (southeastern Anatolia), and their correlations with each other, were investigated. The accessions showed different results depending on the location in terms of the studied characters in both locations under rainfed conditions. The results showed that the highest seed yield was obtained from the PI 311735 accession (3151.8 kg ha–1) in Ankara and the PI 650142 accession (3056.0 kg ha–1) in Şanlıurfa. While the rosette period (days), days of maturity, plant height (cm), and 1000-seed weight (g), in Ankara were between 152.3 and 132.3 days, 274 and 247 days, 103.8 and 59.5 cm, and 1.50 and 0.84 g, while there were between 108.8 and 88.8 days, 202.1 and 180.1 days, 115.4 and 59.2 cm, and 1.40 and 0.50 g, in Şanlıurfa, respectively. Results showed significant differences among the genotypes in all of the studied parameters. Correlation analysis of the genotypes in both locations on the mentioned parameters was also performed. Since climate and environment affect each agromorphological parameter differently, it was observed that a genotypic correlation independent of the climate and environment could not be explained in the Camelina sativa genotypes.

Objective: In the early stages of any epidemic caused by new emerging pathogens healthcare personnel is subject to a great risk. Pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2, proved to be no exception. Many healthcare workers died in the early stages of pandemic due to inadequate precautions and insufficient protection. It is essential to protect and maintain the safety of healthcare personnel for the confinement of pandemic as well as continuity of qualified healthcare services which is already under strain. Educating healthcare personnel on appropiate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is as essential as procuring them. Material and Methods: A survey is conducted on 4927 healthcare personnel working solely with pediatric patients from 32 different centers. Education given on PPE usage were questioned and analyzed depending on age, sex, occupation and region. Results: Among four thousand nine hundred twelve healthcare personnel from 32 different centers 91% (n= 4457) received education on PPE usage. Of those who received education only 36% was given both theoretical and applied education. Although there was no differences among different occupation groups, receiving education depended on regions. Conclusion: It is essential to educate healthcare personnel appropiately nationwidely for the continuity of qualified healthcare services during the pandemic.

Bu çalışma, 2016-2017 yıllarında ikinci ürün olarak GAP Tarımsal Araştırma Enstitüsü Müdürlüğüne bağlı Talat Demirören araştırma istasyonunda altı tatlı sorgum (Dale, M81-E, PHS 12-10, Urja, Top 76-6, Theis) çeşidinin bazı tarımsal ve teknolojik özelliklerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Deneme tesadüf blokları deneme desenine göre dört tekerrürlü olarak kurulmuş, parseller sıra arası 70 cm, sıra üzeri 20 cm olacak şekilde beş sıralı olarak düzenlenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; çeşitlerin ana sap çapları 22.53-28.83 mm, yeşil ot verimi dekara 10 633-16 172 kg arasında, yapraksız sap verimi dekara 9 117-13 413 kg arasında değişmiştir. Teknolojik özelliklerden, kuru madde oranı %19.1-26.1, özsu verimi, şeker verimi ve biyoetanol verimi sırasıyla 3 658-5 163 l da-1, 394-928 kg da-1 ve 160-237 l da-1 arasında değişmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, tatlı sorgum çeşitlerinin farklı kullanılması amaçlandığında; yeşil ot verimi, özsu verimi, şeker verimi yönünden Urja, biyoetanol verimi bakımından ise M81 E çeşidi tavsiye edilen çeşitler olmuşlardır., This study was carried out to determine some agricultural and technological characteristics of six varieties of sweet sorghums (Dale, M81-E, PHS 12-10, Urja, Top 76-6, Theis) as the second crop at the Talat Demiroren research station of the GAP Agricultural Research Institute in 2016-2017 years. The trial was set up in a randomized blocks trial design with four replications, parcels were arranged in five rows which are inter rows 70 cm and intra rows 20 cm. According to the research results; the main stem diameters of the cultivars ranged between 22.53-28.83 mm, green herbage yield per decare 10 633-16 172 kg, leafless stem yield per decare 9 117-13 413 kg. Among the technological properties, the dry matter ratio varied between 19.1-26.1%, sap yield, sugar yield and bioethanol yield ranged between 3 658-5 163 l da-1, 394-928 kg da-1 and 160-237 l da-1, respectively. According to the research results, when different uses of sweet sorghum varieties are aimed; In terms of green grass yield, sap yield, sugar yield, Urja and M81 E type was recommended for bioethanol yield.

Aims: Alternative energy plants, which are not grown in our country but are thought to adapt to the ecological conditions of our country, are also included in the production pattern. In addition to being a sugar plant, it is aimed to use the sweet sorghum plant, which has a wide usage area as food, feed, fiber, energy, and biofuel, in the production of solid biofuel, and the remaining pulp after taking bioethanol and sap from the sap with high sugar content.Methods and Results: Six sweet sorghum varieties (Dale, M81-E, PHS 12-10, Urja, Top 76-6, Theis) were used in this study, which was carried out as a second crop in Şanlıurfa ecological conditions in 2016 and 2017. Pellets were produced from the sap of these varieties and their quality characteristics (heat value (kcal kg-1), moisture content (%), ash content (%), pellet durability resistance (%), moisture absorption resistance (%), pellet hardness (N)), elemental analysis values (%) and pellet bulk density (kg m-3) were examined.Conclusions: Solid biofuel (pellet) was produced from dehydrated sweet sorghum pulp without the need for any adhesive. In the pellets obtained in the study, the highest upper calorific value was obtained from Theis (4412-4364 kcal kg-1) variety, and the lowest upper calorific value was obtained from PHS 12-10 (4226 kcal kg-1) and Urja (4287 kcal kg-1) varieties.Significance and Impact of the Study: As a result of the study, it was determined that the pellets obtained from the stems of these varieties examined were in compliance with the standards. It has been observed that these pellets obtained from sweet sorghum stalks can be used as an alternative fuel wherever coal is used. Agricultural residues, which are abundant in our country and cause problems because they do not have the opportunity to use and evaluate regularly, can be turned into modern fuel, pellets, and both can be brought to the country's economy and a solution to environmental pollution can be found., Amaç: Ülkemizde yetiştiriciliği yapılmayan fakat ülkemizin ekolojik koşullarına uyum sağlayabileceği düşünülen alternatif enerji bitkilerinin de üretim desenine alınmasıdır. Temelde bir şeker bitkisi olmasının yanında gıda, yem, lif, enerji, biyoyakıt olarak geniş bir kullanım alanına tatlı sorgum bitkisinin, yüksek şeker oranına sahip özsuyundan biyoetanol ve özsuyu alındıktan sonra kalan posa kısmı ise katı biyoyakıt üretiminde değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.Yöntem ve Bulgular: Şanlıurfa ekolojik şartlarında 2016 ve 2017 yıllarında ikinci ürün olarak yürütülen bu çalışmada altı tatlı sorgum (Dale, M81-E, PHS 12-10, Urja, Top 76-6, Theis) çeşidi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada elde edilen peletlerde en yüksek üst ısıl değer Theis (4412-4364 kcal kg-1) çeşidinden, en düşük üst ısıl değer ise PHS 12-10 (4226 kcal kg-1) ve Urja (4287 kcal kg-1) çeşitlerinden elde edilmiştir.Çalışmanın Önemi ve Etkisi: Çalışma sonucunda incelenen bu çeşitlerin saplarından elde edilen peletlerin, standartlara uygun oldukları belirlenmiştir. Tatlı sorgum saplarından elde edilen bu peletlerin, kömürün kullanıldığı her yerde alternatif yakıt olarak rahatlıkla kullanılabileceği görülmüştür. Ülkemizde oldukça bol miktarda bulunan, düzenli kullanım ve değerlendirme imkânı olmadığı için problem oluşturan tarımsal artıklar, modern yakıt, pelet, haline getirilerek hem ülke ekonomisine kazandırılabilir hem de çevre kirliliğine çözüm getirilebilir.

Background: understanding SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence among health care personnel is important to ex-plore risk factors for transmission, develop elimination strategies and form a view on the necessity and frequency of surveillance in the future. Methods: we enrolled 4927 health care personnel working in pediatric units at 32 hospitals from 7 different regions of Turkey in a study to determine SARS Co-V-2 seroprevalence after the first peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. A point of care serologic lateral flow rapid test kit for immunoglobulin (Ig)M/IgG was used. Seroprevalence and its association with demographic characteristics and possible risk factors were analyzed. Results: SARS-CoV-2 seropositivity prevalence in health care personnel tested was 6.1%. Seropositivity was more common among those who did not universally wear protective masks (10.6% vs 6.1%). Having a COVID-19-positive co-worker increased the likelihood of infection. The least and the most experienced personnel were more likely to be infected. Most of the seropositive health care personnel (68.0%) did not suspect that they had previously had COVID-19. Conclusions: health surveillance for health care personnel involving routine point-of-care nucleic acid testing and monitoring personal protective equipment adherence are suggested as important strategies to protect health care personnel from COVID-19 and reduce nosocomial SARS-CoV-2 transmission., NA

Mustard is grown in mild winter regions as late fall and in hard winter regions as late spring crop. Mustard has high degree of adaptability under wide range of climatic conditions in Turkey. Temperature is an important weather parameter affecting the growth and development of the mustard. The sum growing degree day (GDD) for a growing season is related to plant development which is depends on the accumulation of heat. The aim of this study was to determine the adaptation of mustard, under sowing seasons (spring and fall sowing) and locations in terms of crop growth (emergence, 50% flowering, physiological maturity, and sum growing degree days) and seed yield of mustard. Two-year field experiments in a split-plot design with four replications were carried out during 2013-14 and 2014-15 growing seasons at eight different ecological locations. These locations included Ankara, Aydin, Erzurum, Eskisehir, Isparta, Tekirdag, Tokat and Sanliurfa provinces of Turkey-as classified by Koppen-Geiger ecological conditions. The Brassica juncea L. (mustard seeds) were collected from wild conditions in the Konya province of Turkey. The results showed that, sowing seasons and locations significantly affected seed yield and GDD. The maximum seed yield of 3754.9 kg ha(-1) was obtained from Tokat (warm humid) during fall sowing with total accumulated GDD of 1512.1 degrees C for mustard. Sum growing degree-days accumulated in different sowing seasons and locations occurred between 1132.0 degrees C and 2285.1 degrees C depending on the related ecological conditions. Fall season crop in Aydin location had the maximum growing degree days. Overall, fall season accumulated more growing degree days due to longer period of sunshine in comparison to spring season with less sunshine days resulting in longer vegetation period.

Deneme konulari; S1-Susuz, S2- Sapa kalkma doneminde 1 su, S3- Ciceklenme oncesi 1 su, S4- Tohum baglama devresinde 1 su, S5-Sapa kalkma doneminde 1 su + Ciceklenme oncesi 1 su, S6- Sapa kalkma doneminde 1 su + tohum baglama devresinde 1 su, S7- Ciceklenme oncesi 1 su + tohum baglama devresinde 1 su, S8- Sapa kalkma doneminde 1 su + Ciceklenme oncesi 1 su + tohum baglama devresinde 1 su S9- S8 konusuna uygulanacak sulamalarin %50’sinin uygulanmasi konularindan olusmustur. Elde edilen arastirma sonuclari degerlendirildiginde; Yazlik ekimlerde sulama konulari arasinda istatistiki anlamda fark elde edilmis ve yapilan degerlendirmeler sonucunda her 3 donemde sulamanin yapildigi S8 (tam su) konusu onerilmistir. Ayrica suyun kisitli olmasi durumunda her 3 donemde hesaplanan suyun yarisinin uygulandigi S9 konusu da onerilebilir. Onerilen konunun su tuketimi 460 mm, uygulanan sulama suyu miktari ise 367.5 mm'dir. Aylik maksimum su tuketimi ise 160 mm ile haziran ayinda gerceklesmistir.

This research was carried out to determine at suitable sowing time of different safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) cultivars on Sanliurfa conditions. The research was conducted at Koruklu Research Station of GAP Agricultural Research Institute at the three growing seasons (2007- 2008, 2008-2009, 2009-2010).
