When a transport vehicle is put into service on a new route, all safety aspects of its movement should be comprehensively examined. In maritime transport, such situations arise especially when new sea ports are built, intended to handle selected types of vessels with specific characteristics. The construction of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście made it necessary to carry out an extensive analysis of the safety of LNG tanker passage. This was related to the shipping route from the Danish Straits to the berth. This article compares the routes planned at the design stage with the actual track of the tanker Al Nuaman during its first voyage. This paper presents the stages in stochastic ship traffic stream model creation, applied to determine the influence of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker introduction to Police Port on the Świnoujście-Szczecin waterway. The model is based on the Monte Carlo methodology, and is microscopic (which means that each ship's model is treated as a separate object possessing given attributes). The model is applied here in order tofind the influence of ships with dangerous cargo (LPG tankers in the case study) on regular ship traffic, and hence to establish whether special traffic solutions are necessary. In the years 2011-2012 Polish universities were obligated to implement education requirements in compliance with the National Qualifications Framework. First the universities defined intended learning outcomes, a basis on which curricula were drawn up. The most difficult part of the implemented system is the appropriate identification of method(s) to assess whether the expected learning outcomes have been achieved. This article discusses an examination system commissioned by maritime administration for seafarer examining, and indicates possibilities of using the developed solutions in the process of learning outcomes assessment at technical universities and academies.
