IntroductionSince 2016, a highly lethal visceral gout induced by infection with the novel goose astrovirus (GoAstV) resulted in an ongoing outbreak in goslings in China, with a mortality rate ranging from 10% to 50%, and causing considerable economic losses in the goose industry. However, the pathogenesis of GoAstV and the molecular mechanism by which kidney lesions are induced by GoAstV infection are unclear.MethodsIn the present study, a GEK cell infection model for GoAstV was established, and the apoptosis, inflammatory and innate immune responses induced by GoAstV were investigated in GEK cells.ResultsThe results shown that the expression of proapoptotic proteins, including Bax, caspase-3, caspase-9 and cytochrome c, increased in the infection group; however, the expression of the antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2 decreased, indicating that apoptosis was induced by GoAstV infection in GEK cells. Besides, the activation of the RIG-I/MDA5 pathway and the downstream upregulation of proinflammatory cytokines, including the adapter proteins MAVS, IRF7 and NF-κB and the proinflammatory cytokines IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α, were detected in GEK cells infected with GoAstV. In addition, GoAstV infection induces the activation of the NLPR3 pathway and further stimulates the increased production of IL-1β. In summary, the present study revealed that GoAstV infection could induce apoptosis and the activation of the RIG-I/MDA5 and NLRP3 pathways in GEK cells, as well as the massive release of proinflammatory cytokines.DiscussionThese results are helpful for elucidating the molecular mechanism of pathological lesions in the kidney in gout goslings infected with GoAstV and the interaction between GoAstV and the innate immune system of the host.

Objective Stocking density (SD) is an important issue in the poultry industry, which is related to the production performance, intestinal health and immune status. In the present study, the effects of SD on the metabolism and homeostasis of uric acid as well as the related functions of the liver and kidney in ducks were examined. Methods A total of 360 healthy 56-day-old Shan-ma ducks were randomly divided into the low stocking density (n = 60, density = 5 birds/m2), medium stocking density (n = 120, density = 10 birds/m2) and high stocking density groups (HSD; n = 180, density = 15 birds/m2). Samples were collected in the 3rd, 6th, and 9th weeks of the experiment for analysis. Results The serum levels of uric acid, lipopolysaccharide and inflammatory cytokines (interleukin-1β [IL-1β], IL-8, and tumor necrosis factor-α [TNF-α]) were increased significantly in the HSD group. Serious histopathological lesions could be seen in both the livers and kidneys in the HSD group in the 9th week. The mRNA expression levels of inflammatory cytokines (IL-8 and TNF-α) and related pathway components (toll-like receptor 4, myeloid differentiation primary response gene 88, and nuclear factor-κB) were increased significantly in both the livers and kidneys in the HSD group. The mRNA expression levels of enzymes (adenosine deaminase, xanthine oxidase, phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate amidotransferase, and phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 1) related to the synthesis of uric acid increased significantly in the livers in the HSD group. However, the mRNA expression level of solute carrier family 2 member 9, which plays an important role in the excretion of uric acid by the kidney, was decreased significantly in the kidneys in the HSD group. Conclusion These results indicated that a higher SD could cause tissue inflammatory lesions in the liver and kidney and subsequently affect the metabolism and homeostasis of uric acid, and is helpful for guiding decisions related to the breeding and production of ducks.

Abstract Young adults (18–24 years) in universities are frequently exposed to an environment that promotes unhealthy eating behaviors. Using a validated tool, the Chinese Nutrition Environment Measurement Survey for Stores (C-NEMS-S), we assess the food availability and healthier options in a large, urban Chinese university. We employed C-NEMS-S for scoring criteria and weighting. A total of 52 on-campus canteen outlets were audited in an urban university located in Shijiazhuang City, China. General food outlets (n 43) and self-served food outlets (n 7) were further categorized into eight subtypes. Beverage outlets (n 2) were discussed separately from food outlets. Background: Corn peptides, a novel food prepared from corn gluten meal (CGM) by enzymatic hydrolysis or microbial fermentation, have attracted considerable interest owing to their various bioactive properties. However, the underlying mechanism of corn peptides attenuate non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) remains unclear. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of corn peptides in NAFLD and to decipher the underlying mechanisms. Design: NAFLD was induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) for 10 weeks. Corn peptides were administered during the period. Human hepatocellular carcinomas (HepG2) cells induced by free fatty acids were used for this mechanism study. Results: Corn peptides alleviated HFD-induced histopathological changes, disorders of lipid metabolism, and mitochondrial damage. Moreover, corn peptides blocked mitophagy suppression by HFD based on the increased LC3, ATG7 expressions, as well as decreased P62 levels. Corn peptides increased the expression of proteins involved in fatty acid β-oxidation, such as PPARα and PGC-1α. Corn peptides also improved the Ser/Thr kinase PINK1 (PINK1) and the E3 ubiquitin ligase Parkin (Parkin) translocation to mitochondria, which is confirmed by immunofluorescence. Furthermore, stable knockdown of PINK1 by PINK1 SiRNA in HepG2 inhibited PINK1-Parkin-associated mitophagy and resulted in lipid accumulation. Conclusion: Corn peptides improved cell injury and ameliorated mitochondrial dysfunction and lipid accumulation via PINK1/Parkin-mediated autophagy in NAFLD. Thus, corn peptides could be a promising nutritional molecule with natural functions for preventing NAFLD.

Abstract Background Total arch replacement with frozen elephant trunk has been developed with promising results for DeBakey type I aortic dissection. However, several problems, such as continuous perfusion of distal false lumen and unfavorable remodeling of distal aorta postoperatively, can seriously affect the long-term outcome. This trial aims to assess the effects of early minimally invasive endovascular repair on distal aortic remodeling and long-term clinical outcomes in patients with dominant false lumen and residual tears in the descending thoracic aorta after total arch replacement and frozen elephant trunk procedure. Methods This is a protocol for a two-arm, parallel, multicenter, randomized controlled trial. A total of 154 eligible patients will be recruited from four hospitals in China and randomized on a 1:1 basis either to the experiment group (endovascular repair in addition to routine antihypertensive therapy) or the control group (routine antihypertensive therapy without early surgical treatment). The primary outcome will be the five-year all-cause mortality. The secondary outcomes will include re-intervention, ischemic symptoms, organ dysfunction, and stent-related adverse events. Discussion If early minimally invasive endovascular repair could safely and effectively promote distal aortic remodeling and bring favorable long-term outcomes for patients with dominant false lumen and residual tears in the descending thoracic aorta after total arch replacement and frozen elephant trunk technique, it would improve the treatment strategy for DeBakey type I aortic dissection. To investigate the potential lane-changing collision risks that may arise between vehicles during lane changes and those in the original lane, a model for vehicle lane-changing collision risk is constructed specifically for this scenario, and a research analysis is conducted. First, based on vehicle trajectory data, a sample set capturing the relationships between vehicles traveling in a straight line and those changing lanes laterally is extracted and built. Interpolation methods are then applied to fill in missing values, outliers are eliminated, and data noise is smoothed during preprocessing. After preprocessing, a total of 468 vehicle pairs and 265,392 data points are obtained. Second, a real-time collision time model is established based on the preprocessed data, and collision risk probabilities are calculated accordingly. Then, the collision risks are classified into four levels based on whether the vehicle on the side actually changes lanes and the severity of the collision risks. Finally, a light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM) learning method is adopted to predict the risk levels and analyze the main factors that significantly impact the severity of collision risks. The results indicate that the longitudinal distance between the target vehicle and the preceding vehicle is the most critical influencing factor, followed by the speed of the target vehicle itself, and then the speed difference between the target vehicle and the preceding vehicle. The influence of other factors is relatively similar and does not have a significant impact.

IntroductionControlled-release fertilizers effectively improve crop yield and nitrogen use efficiency (NUE). However, their use increases the cost of crop production. Optimal management modes involving urea replacement with controlled-release N fertilizers to increase rice yield through enhanced NUE are not widely explored.MethodsField experiments were conducted from 2017 to 2018 to determine the effects of different controlled-release N fertilizers combined with urea [urea-N (180 kg ha-1, N1)]. We used controlled-release N (150 kg ha-1, N2) as the base, and four controlled-release N and urea-N ratio treatments [(80%:0% (N3), 60%:20% (N4), 40%:40% (N5), or 20%:60% (N6) as the base with 20% urea-N as topdressing at the panicle initiation stage under 150 kg ha-1] to study their impact on the grain yield and NUE of machine-transplanted rice.Results and discussionGrain yield and NUE were positively correlated with increases in photosynthetic production, flag leaf net photosynthetic rate (Pn), root activity, N transport, and grain-filling characteristics. The photosynthetic potential and population growth rate from the jointing to the full-heading stage, highly effective leaf area index (LAI) rate and Pn at the full-heading stage, root activity at 15 d after the full-heading stage, and N transport in the leaves from the full-heading to mature stage were significantly increased by the N4 treatment, thereby increasing both grain yield and NUE. Furthermore, compared with the other N treatments, the N4 treatment promoted the mean filling rate of inferior grains, which is closely related to increased filled grains per spikelet and filled grains rate. These effects ultimately improved the grain yield (5.03-25.75%), N agronomic efficiency (NAE, 3.96-17.58%), and N partial factor productivity (NPP, 3.98-27.13%) under the N4 treatment. Thus, the N4 treatment with controlled-release N (60%) and urea-N (20%) as a base and urea-N (20%) as topdressing at the panicle-initiation stage proved effective in improving the grain yield and NUE of machine-transplanted hybrid indica rice. These findings offer a theoretical and practical basis for enhancing rice grain yield, NUE, and saving the cost of fertilizer.

Abstract To achieve energy saving and emission reduction goals, recyclable and healable thermoset materials are highly attractive. Polymer copolymerization has been proven to be a critical strategy for preparing high‐performance polymeric materials. However, it remains a huge challenge to develop high‐performance recyclable and healable thermoset materials. Here, polyimine dynamic networks based on two monomers with bulky pendant groups, which not only displayed mechanical properties higher than the strong and tough polymers, e.g., polycarbonate, but also excellent self‐repairing capability and recyclability as thermosets are developed. Owing to the stability of conjugation effect by aromatic benzene rings, the final polyimine networks are far more stable than the reported counterparts, exhibiting excellent hydrolysis resistance under both alkaline condition and most organic solvents. These polyimine materials with conjugation structure can be completely depolymerized into monomers recovery in an acidic aqueous solution at ambient temperature. Resulting from the bulky pendant units, this method allows the exchange reactions of conjugation polyimine vitrimer easily within minutes for self‐healing function. Moreover, the introduction of trifluoromethyl diphenoxybenzene backbones significantly increases tensile properties of polyimine materials. This work provides an effective strategy for fabricating high‐performance polymer materials with multiple functions.

BackgroundSutureless and rapid-deployment valves are bioprostheses anchoring within the aortic annulus with few sutures, and they act as a hybrid of conventional surgical and transcatheter valves under aortic valve replacement. Considering that the 3F Enable valve is now off-market, the only two sutureless and rapid-deployment valves available on the world marketplace are the Perceval and Intuity valves. However, a direct comparison of the function of these two valves eludes researchers.PurposeAgainst this background, we performed this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing the intraoperative performance and early clinical outcomes between the Perceval valve and the Intuity valve under sutureless and rapid-deployment aortic valve replacement.MethodsWe systematically searched electronic databases through PubMed/MEDLINE, OvidWeb, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (from the establishment of the database to November 17, 2022, without language restriction) for studies comparing the sutureless valve (the Perceval) and the rapid-deployment valve (the Intuity) under aortic valve replacement. Our primary outcomes were early mortality and postoperative transvalvular pressure gradients. The secondary outcomes were defined to include aortic cross-clamp and cardiopulmonary bypass time, paravalvular leak (any paravalvular leak, moderate-to-severe paravalvular leak) after aortic valve replacement, need for pacemaker implantation, postoperative neurological events (stroke), and intensive care unit stay.ResultsThis meta-analysis included ten non-randomized trials with 3,526 patients enrolled (sutureless group = 1,772 and rapid-deployment group = 1,754). Quality assessments were performed, with the mean scores of the studies reading 6.90 (SD = 0.99) out of 9 according to the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale. Compared with rapid-deployment aortic valve replacement, sutureless aortic valve replacement was associated with higher mean and peak transvalvular pressure gradients postoperatively. In contrast, aortic cross-clamp and cardiopulmonary time were needed less in sutureless aortic valve replacement vs. rapid-deployment aortic valve replacement. There was no evidence of significant publication bias observed by the funnel plot and Egger's test.ConclusionsFor postoperative hemodynamics, sutureless aortic valve replacement was associated with increased mean and peak transvalvular pressure gradients compared with rapid-deployment aortic valve replacement. Background Thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection (TAAD) are devastating cardiovascular diseases with a high rate of disability and mortality. Lysine succinylation, a newly found post-translational modification, has been reported to play an important role in cardiovascular diseases. However, how succinylation modification influences TAAD remains obscure. Methods Ascending aortic tissues were obtained from patients with thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA, n = 6), thoracic aortic dissection (TAD) with pre-existing aortic aneurysm (n = 6), and healthy subjects (n = 6). Global lysine succinylation level was analyzed by Western blotting. The differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were analyzed by tandem mass tag (TMT) labeling and mass spectrometry. Succinylation-related proteins selected from the literature review and AmiGO database were set as a reference inventory for further analysis. Then, the pathological aortic sections were chosen to verify the proteomic results by Western blotting and qRT-PCR. Results The level of global lysine succinylation significantly increased in TAA and TAD patients compared with healthy subjects. Of all proteins identified by proteomic analysis, 197 common DEPs were screened both in TAA and TAD group compared with the control group, of which 93 proteins were significantly upregulated while 104 were downregulated. Among these 197 DEPs, OXCT1 overlapped with the succinylation-related proteins and was selected as the target protein involved in thoracic aortic pathogenesis. OXCT1 was further verified by Western blotting and qRT-PCR, and the results showed that OXCT1 in TAA and TAD patients was significantly lower than that in healthy donors (p < 0.001), which was consistent with the proteomic results. Conclusions OXCT1 represents novel biomarkers for lysine succinylation of TAAD and might be a therapeutic target in the future.

Abstract Background Tumor immune cell infiltration is important in the prognosis of patients with lung adenocarcinoma. The aim of this study was to develop a prognostic classification based on the tumor immunoscore. Methods Patients with KRAS‐mutant invasive non‐mucinous lung adenocarcinoma who underwent radical surgery were enrolled in the study. Histologic grading was assessed according to the recommendations of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. Programmed death‐ligand 1 (PD‐L1) and CD8 expression was detected using immunohistochemistry. The number of CD8+ tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) per high‐power field was assessed. A classification based on histological grade and CD8+ TIL level was established (Grading‐Immunoscore type): low‐to‐medium grade with high or low infiltration (type A); high‐grade, high‐infiltration (type B); and high‐grade, low‐infiltration (type C). Abstract The wireless power transfer (WPT) system has been widely used in various fields such as household appliances, electric vehicle charging and sensor applications. A frequency reconfigurable magnetic resonant coupling wireless power transfer (MRCWPT) system with dynamically enhanced efficiency by using the frequency reconfigurable metamaterial is proposed in this paper. The reconfigurability is achieved by adjusting the capacitance value of the adjustable capacitor connected in the coil of the system. Finite element simulation results have shown that the frequency reconfigurable electromagnetic metamaterial can manipulate the direction of the electromagnetic field of the system due to its abnormal effective permeability. The ultra-thin frequency reconfigurable metamaterial is designed at different working frequencies of 14.1 MHz, 15 MHz, 16.2 MHz, 17.5 MHz, 19.3 MHz, 21.7 MHz and 25 MHz to enhance the magnetic field and power transfer efficiency (PTE) of the system. Frequency reconfigurable mechanism of the system with the frequency reconfigurable metamaterial is derived by the equivalent circuit theory. Finally, further measurement which verifies the simulation by reasonable agreement is carried out. PTE of the system by adding the metamaterial are 59%, 73%, 67%, 66%, 65%, 60% and 58% at different working frequencies. PTE of the system with and without the metamaterial is 72% and 49% at the distance of 120 mm and the frequency of 15 MHz, respectively.

Corn peptides (CPs) are a novel food obtained from the enzymatic hydrolysis of corn gluten meal. Recent studies indicate the hepatoprotective ability of CPs. However, little is known about the effect of CPs on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of CPs in NAFLD and to decipher the underlying mechanisms. We show that CPs contain large number of antioxidant peptides. They significantly ameliorated oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum stress, and downregulated lipid metabolism-related proteins in in vivo and in vitro models. The AMPKα/Sirt1 pathway was activated by CPs, as was evident through the incubation of cells with the AMPK inhibitor, Compound C. These results demonstrate that CPs could be a promising functional food for preventing NAFLD progression, at least in part through activation of the AMPKα/Sirt1 pathway.

Purpose To investigate the effects of ablation time and distance between the radiofrequency ablation (RFA) electrode tip and a large vessel on the ablation zone in beagle livers. Methods Sixty-one percutaneous RFA coagulation zones were created near large vessels in 10 beagle livers in vivo. The ablated lesions were divided into four groups based on ablation time and distance between the electrode tip and a large vessel (group A, 3 min 0.5 cm; group B, 3 min 0 cm; group C, 5 min 0.5 cm; group D, 5 min 0 cm). Gene mutations play an important role in tumor progression. This study aimed to identify genes that were mutated in colorectal cancer (CRC) and to explore their biological effects and prognostic value in CRC patients. We performed somatic mutation analysis using data sets from The Cancer Genome Atlas and International Cancer Genome Consortium, and identified that FREM2 had the highest mutation frequency in patients with colon adenocarcinoma (COAD). COAD patients were divided into FREM2-mutated type (n = 36) and FREM2-wild type (n = 278), and a Kaplan-Meier survival curve was generated to perform prognostic analysis. A FREM2-mutation prognosis model was constructed using random forest method, and the performance of the model was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curve. Next, the random forest method and Cox regression analysis were used to construct a prognostic model based on the gene expression data of 36 FREM2-mutant COAD patients. The model showed a high prediction accuracy (83.9%), and 13 prognostic model characteristic genes related to overall survival were identified. Then, the results of tumor mutation burden (TMB) and microsatellite instability (MSI) analyses revealed significant differences in TMB and MSI among the risk scores of different prognostic models. Differentially expressed genes were identified and analyzed for functional enrichment and immune infiltration. Finally, 30 samples of CRC patients were collected for immunohistochemical staining to analyze the FREM2 expression levels, which showed that FREM2 was highly expressed in tumor tissues. In conclusion, CRC patients had a high level of FREM2 mutations associated with a worse prognosis, which indicated that FREM2 mutations may be potential prognostic markers in CRC.

ObjectiveTo investigate the correlation and overlaps between PD-L1 expression and classical genomic aberrations in Chinese lung adenocarcinoma (LADC) patients.MethodsWe reviewed 428 consecutive, surgically resected cases of LADC from October 2015 to December 2016 from our center. PD-L1 expression was evaluated based on tumor proportion score (TPS). Correlation and co-occurrence of PD-L1 expression level with those of classical driver genes, such as EGFR, ALK, ROS-1, and KRAS and with clinical variables and disease-free survival (DFS) were analyzed.ResultsSeventy of the 428 cases (16.4%) showed TPS ≥ 1%, and 21 cases (4.9%) showed TPS ≥ 50%. PD-L1 positive expression was significantly associated with male gender, smoking, advanced TNM stage, and solid histologic subtype. Both TPS ≥ 1% and ≥ 50% were correlated with the absence of an EGFR mutation (P < 0.001) and the presence of ALK rearrangement (P = 0.024). KRAS mutation was associated with TPS ≥ 50% (P = 0.035). PD-L1 positivity commonly overlapped with the alterations of classical driver oncogenes (58.5% with TPS ≥ 1% and 42.9% with TPS ≥ 50%). Approximately three-quarters of PD-L1 positive cases co-occurred with classical therapeutic-gene aberrations in cases with stage III/IV cancer or cancer progression. LADC could be divided into four subgroups based on the expression profile of current routine biomarkers for potential therapeutic strategies.ConclusionsPD-L1 expression is not only closely correlated with classic gene alterations but also commonly overlaps with the aberrations of classical driver oncogenes in Chinese LADC patients. These findings provide a useful overview of clinical strategies that rely on the profile of routinely used molecular biomarkers.

Jujuboside B (JUB) is a saponin isolated from the seeds of Zizyphus jujuba. The anti-colorectal cancer effect of JUB and its potential mechanism remain unclear. We demonstrated that JUB induced the apoptosis of colorectal cancer cells via mitochondrial membrane damage. JUB-induced apoptosis in colorectal cancer cells was dependent on the generation of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and downregulation of the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K/Akt) pathway. Moreover, JUB significantly inhibited tumor growth in the colorectal cancer mouse model, and the molecular mechanism was consistent with the results in vitro. This study proved for the first tine that JUB can induce the apoptosis of colorectal cancer cells by promoting ROS generation and inactivating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway in vitro and in vivo, providing a scientific basis for the application of JUB in the prevention and adjuvant treatment of colorectal cancer.

A hatching egg activity classification method aims to accurately and quickly distinguish between dead embryos and live embryos. The existing embryonic classification models collect egg images via a specific imaging system. The image features are then extracted to identify and classify the properties of the hatching eggs. The current state-of-the-art embryonic image classification methods are easily affected by the image quality and are not efficient. To address these issues, we propose a new classification model based on fully convolutional networks (FCNs) and a gated recurrent unit (GRU) that decides whether an embryo is dead or alive by determining embryotic heartbeat signal indicators. Our dataset consists of heartbeat signals from 50k distinct chicken embryos. The experimental results based on our dataset show that our proposed model is the most accurate compared with all baseline models. The reason for this is that our model can capture more useful information from heartbeat signals. In addition, our model can classify 83 hatching eggs per second.

Abstract Background Recent research supports a significant role of immune checkpoint inhibitors in the treatment of solid tumors. However, relevant reports for programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs) have not been fully studied. Therefore, we investigated PNETs for the expression of PD-L1 and infiltration by CD8+ TILs as well as the prognostic value of both factors. Methods In total, 159 specimens of PNETs (35 TC, 2 AC, 28 LCNEC, 94 SCLC) were included in this study. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to detect the expression of PD-L1 in these cases. Cases demonstrating ≥5% tumor cell expression or any expression (> 1%) of PD-L1 on immune cells were considered positive. CD8+ TILs both within stroma and tumor areas of invasive carcinoma were analyzed using whole-slide digital imaging. Manual regional annotation and machine cell counts were performed for each case. Results Positive expression of PD-L1 was observed in 72 cases (45.3%), including 9 cases (5.7%) with expression exclusively on tumor cells, 46 cases (28.9%) with expression exclusively on immune cells, and 17 cases (10.7%) with the expression on tumor cells and immune cells. Though impressive advances of the extension of effective working distance for magnetic resonant coupling wireless power transfer system have been made over past decades, their applications have been severely limited by the requirement of unidirectional coaxial distribution for the transmitter and receiver. In this paper, an omnidirectional magnetic resonant coupling wireless power transfer system is proposed. The cubic spiral transmitter requires only a single power source, and the receiver receives power in all directions. The power transfer efficiency of the system is derived through an equivalent circuit model. And an impedance matching circuit which includes a pair of parallel and series capacitors is proposed for better stability and higher efficiency. In addition, geometrical parameters of the single power driven spiral transmitter structure are optimized to improve distribution uniformity for different directions. Thus the power transfer efficiency of the system, which depends on the distance between the transmitter and the receiver, is almost the same for different receiving angles. Finally, the theoretical analysis is verified by practical experimental results, which shows the power transfer efficiency of 60% at 150 mm.

The microwave wireless power transfer (MWPT) technology has found a variety of applications in consumer electronics, medical implants and sensor networks. Here, instead of a magnetic resonant coupling wireless power transfer (MRCWPT) system, a novel MWPT system based on a frequency reconfigurable (covering the S-band and C-band) microstrip patch antenna array is proposed for the first time. By switching the bias voltage-dependent capacitance value of the varactor diode between the larger main microstrip patch and the smaller side microstrip patch, the working frequency band of the MWPT system can be switched between the S-band and the C-band. Specifically, the operated frequencies of the antenna array vary continuously within a wide range from 3.41 to 3.96 GHz and 5.7 to 6.3 GHz. For the adjustable range of frequencies, the return loss of the antenna array is less than −15 dB at the resonant frequency. The gain of the frequency reconfigurable antenna array is above 6 dBi at different working frequencies. Simulation results verified by experimental results have shown that power transfer efficiency (PTE) of the MWPT system stays above 20% at different frequencies. Also, when the antenna array works at the resonant frequency of 3.64 GHz, the PTE of the MWPT system is 25%, 20.5%, and 10.3% at the distances of 20 mm, 40 mm, and 80 mm, respectively. The MWPT system can be used to power the receiver at different frequencies, which has great application prospects and market demand opportunities.

This study introduces a novel method called overlap onset control (OOC) to balance and maintain alternate arm modular multilevel converter (AAC) submodule capacitor voltages at their desired value. OOC performs zero-current switching and controls the timing of AAC commutation to regulate submodule voltages while retaining output voltage quality. The study uses steady-state converter models to develop the mathematical foundations behind the proposed capacitor voltage regulation method and then presents electromagnetic transient simulation results in PSCAD/EMTDC to demonstrate OOC's ability to extend the AAC operating range.

In this work, we report a more simple and efficient way to synthesize a composite ionic liquid (IL) ([BMIM][[Zn.sub.2][Br.sub.5]]) by directly coupling the IL with molecular sieves. Two kinds of immobilized catalysts were successfully synthesized: SBA-15-[BMIM] [[Zn.sub.2][Br.sub.5]] and SBA-15-CPTES-[BMIM][[Zn.sub.2][Br.sub.5]]. The catalysts were used to catalyze the cycloaddition reaction of continuous transformation of C[O.sub.2] and propylene oxide, and the catalytic performance of catalysts was further studied. Compared with the traditional IL catalysts, the catalysts not only have excellent catalytic performance, but also have a significantly longer service life. This is because the catalysts are formed by a high energy chemical bond of silane between IL catalysts and molecular sieves, which can effectively solve the problem of the loss of IL active components in the catalytic process. Dans le cadre des presents travaux, nous decrivons une facon plus simple et efficace de synthetiser le liquide ionique (LI) composite ([BMIM][[Zn.sub.2][Br.sub.5]]) par couplage direct du LI avec des tamis moleculaires. Nous sommes parvenus a synthetiser deux types de catalyseurs immobilises, soit le SBA15[BMIM][[Zn.sub.2][Br.sub.5]] et le SBA15CPTES-[BMIM][[Zn.sub.2][Br.sub.5]]. Nous avons utilise ces catalyseurs pour catalyser la reaction de cycloaddition dans la transformation continue du C[O.sub.2] et de l'oxyde de propylene, et nous avons etudie plus en detail leur performance catalytique. Ces catalyseurs offrent non seulement une excellente performance catalytique, mais celle-ci surpasse celle des catalyseurs traditionnels a base de LI, et leur duree de vie utile est considerablement plus longue. Ces caracteristiques s'expliquent par le fait que ces catalyseurs sont formes de liaisons silane hautement energetiques entre le catalyseur a base de LI et le tamis moleculaire, ce qui permet de resoudre efficacement le probleme de la perte de composants actifs du LI au cours du processus catalytique.
