Search

Financial leasing companies in Vietnam have been established for more than 20 years. However, little is known about the determinant factors of the brand image of these companies. This study aims to measure the associated factors of the brand image of financial leasing companies in Vietnam by employing a cross-sectional study from March to June 2021. An online survey using Google Forms has been sent via email to 350 people, including directors, deputy directors, relevant heads of departments, and employees of financial leasing companies in Vietnam. A total of 298 participants agreed to participate in the survey (the response rate is 85.1%). The Cronbach’s alpha of every factor is higher than 0.8 (ranges from 0.824 to 0.949). Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) results show that the values of Composite Reliability are all higher than 0.7 and ones of Average Variance Extracted are all higher than 0.5, which assure the reliability and validity of the scale. Structural Equation Model (SEM) has been applied, and model fit indexes have been calculated to test the research hypotheses. The findings show that cooperate social responsibility positively affects the brand image of financial leasing companies in Vietnam. Moreover, the result confirms the mediating role of enterprise strategy and operational efficiency for companies’ competitiveness and brand image. These results indicate that managers at finance leasing companies and stakeholders should have suitable policies to increase competitiveness and corporate social responsibility for the sustainable development of financial leasing companies in Vietnam. This paper aims to measure the influence of emotional intelligence on auditors’ judgment and the sustainability of audit activities in the Vietnamese market through auditors’ perceptions. Data were collected through interviews using questionnaires from 232 auditors who currently work for independent audit firms in many provinces and cities. The research methods used include Cronbach’s Alpha test, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The study showed that 5 of 5 factors of emotional intelligence positively affect the auditors’ judgment. These are intrapersonal awareness competency, interpersonal relationship capability, stress management ability, environment adaptability potentiality, and mood creativity focus. Meanwhile, only 4 of 5 factors of emotional intelligence positively influence the audit sustainability of audit projects (excluding interpersonal relationship capability). The study also shows that the auditor’s judgment has a positive influence on audit sustainability. Besides, there is a great difference related to the emotional intelligence and its impact on auditor’s judgment and audit sustainability based on gender. The study’s results provide scientific evidence that human factors, especially emotional intelligence, influence the auditor’s judgment and the sustainability of his/her professional career. With the growing number of older people living with HIV, "What is the most effective geriatric care and the research trend of existing literature?" is a compelling question after 30 years since the first paper related to aging and HIV/AIDS published. Our study aims to apply quantitative and qualitative analysis to explore the knowledge gaps and describes the research interest of gerontology research in the field of HIV. A bibliometric analysis was conducted based on the databased of the Web of Science from 1991 to 2019. The major domains of research areas were visualized by using VOSviewer software. Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) was applied to classify the dataset into topics. There was a rising number of publications about this topic over time. Our findings indicated that antiretroviral treatment and evaluating quality of life and harm reduction were the major domains regarding care for OPLWH. In addition, the finding highlights the role of social competence in treatment outcomes. Further research needs to tailor multi-disciplinary programs and flexible interventions to reduce the burden and the mortality rate of HIV/AIDS.

Acute appendicitis is a rare diagnosis of acute abdomen in neonates which is associated with high mortality due to late diagnosis. Here, we presented a case of acute neonatal appendicitis in a 6-year-old full-term infant with Down syndrome and pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect. The patient underwent surgery and postoperative critical care. However, he died on postoperative day 5 due to worsening sepsis and decompensated hemodynamic instability.

Purpose The high prevalence of chronic pain and difficulties in pain management in older people are challenging for healthcare providers globally. Patient satisfaction regarding pain management is one of the measures to assess efficacy of pain control as well as healthcare services. Thus, our study aimed to evaluate the older patients' satisfaction with pain management and its associated factors in Vietnam. Patients and methods A cross-sectional study was conducted at National Geriatric Hospital, Hanoi, Vietnam from May to October 2018. Face-to-face interviews were conducted on 495 older patients with chronic pain by using a structured questionnaire. The Pain Treatment Satisfaction Scale (PTSS) was used to assess the level of satisfaction with pain management. A Tobit regression model was used to estimate factors associated with satisfaction toward pain management. Results The mean total satisfaction score was 1.77 (SD= 0.22). Older patients were most satisfied with the aspect of side effects of pain relief medication (mean=0.66, SD=0.56). On the contrary, they were most dissatisfied with information provided about pain and its treatment and efficacy of pain relief medication. Outpatients were less satisfied with information provided, the impact of current medication and pain management in general compared to inpatients. The regression model showed that patients with severe pain tended to be more dissatisfied with pain management than those with no pain. Conclusion This study indicated that the general satisfaction with chronic pain management in older patients was quite good especially in the aspect of pain medication's side effects. However, dissatisfactory factors remained, including information provided about pain and efficacy of current pain medication. Intensive training regarding pain in geriatric care, health education communication for older people, and improved quality of medical services should be performed to ensure the quality of pain management, especially in the older population.

Thus, knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of elderly diabetic patients play an essential role in controlling the disease and its complications.Patients and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 176 diabetic patients at the outpatient clinics, National Geriatric Hospital, Hanoi, Vietnam from August to November 2015. Patients’ knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding diabetes mellitus were assessed using a structured questionnaire. Exploratory factor analysis and multivariate Tobit regression model were used to identify factors associated with knowledge, attitude, practice about diabetes mellitus.Results: Of 176 diabetic patients, patients’ knowledge was divided into two main groups: “Diabetes definition and management” (mean score = 57.7 ± 25.6) and “Targets for diabetic control” (mean score = 66.1 ± 30.4). Patients scored high points of attitudes toward diabetes severity and its complications (mean score = 95.8 ± 13.0); however, knowledge and practice scores were only moderate (mean score = 68.1 ± 16.8). There were only 8.5% of people having daily self-blood glucose monitoring. Advanced age, low educational level, rural area, and duration of diabetes less than 5 years were negative associated with knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding diabetes mellitus. This study also shows that frailty and co-morbidities/diabetic complications could impair patients’ knowledge.Conclusion: Older patients with diabetes had high levels of perceived severity attitudes on diabetes mellitus. However, the knowledge and practice levels were still inadequate. Pragmatic diabetic health literacy, counseling and education programs, as well as home-based treatments are viable options to improve health outcomes.Keywords: attitude, diabetes, elderly, knowledge, practice

The study investigates and measures the impact of financial restructuring on overall financial performance of commercial banks in Vietnam. Survey data for this research were collected from audited financial reports of 28 commercial banks in Vietnam, for the period from 2008 to 2018. In the study, we have built a model of econometric regression with the dependent variable being financial results measured through ROA and ROE. The research methods used include Pooled Ordinary Least Square Model (POLS), Fixed Effects Model (FEM), Random Effects Model (REM), and different Generalized Method of Moments (GMM). The results showed that the account payables restructuring and owners’ equity restructuring are much needed. Increasing the owners’ equity, decreasing the account payables would improve the overall financial performance, bad debts restructuring to decrease bad debts would also improve the financial performance as well. However, the financial restructuring in the period 2012-2015 and 2016-2018, indeed worsen the financial performance during those times. The findings of this study suggest that the evaluation of the financial performance after restructuring of commercial banks in Vietnam must be based on longer data. At the same time, it is necessary to examine differences between various banking groups to draw accurate conclusions on financial performance.

TÓM TẮT Đặt vấn đề: Những nghiên cứu gần đây cho thấy phẫu thuật nội soi với kỹ thuật 3D (three - dimensional) đã mang lại nhiều thuận lợi trong điều trị ung thư dạ dày khi so sánh với màn hình 2D truyền thống. Vì vậy chúng tôi thực hiện nghiên cứu này với mục đích đánh giá tính an toàn, kết quả ngắn hạn và kết quả ung thư học của phẫu thuật nội soi 3D trong điều trị ung thư phần xa dạ dày. Phương pháp nghiên cứu: Thực hiện nghiên cứu tiến cứu trên 37 bệnh nhân cắt phần xa dạ dày kèm nạo vét hạch điều trị ung thư dạ dày bằng phẫu thuật nội soi kỹ thuật 3D tại Khoa Ngoại nhi - cấp cứu bụng, Bệnh viện Trung Ương Huế từ 03/2018 đến 09/2021. Kết quả: Phẫu thuật nội soi 3D được thực hiện ở tất cả 37 bệnh nhân, không có trường hợp nào chuyển mổ mở. Thời gian phẫu thuật trung bình là 69,86 ± 20,46 phút, lượng máu mất trong mổ trung bình là 171,22 ± 15,47 ml, số hạch vét được trung bình là 20,49 ± 4,11 hạch và thời gian nằm viện sau phẫu thuật trung bình là 10 ngày (6 - 26 ngày). Tỷ lệ biến chứng là 8,1 % với 1 trường hợp (2,7%) dò mỏm tá tràng, không có trường hợp nào tử vong sớm sau mổ. Tỉ lệ sống còn sau 1 năm là 87,27% và sau 3 năm là 83,31%. Kết luận: Áp dụng phẫu thuật nội soi 3D trong cắt phần xa dạ dày có thể thực hiện an toàn và khả thi. Giúp giảm đáng kể thời gian mổ, lượng máu mất trong mổ và đảm bảo được nguyên tắc an toàn về ung thư học. ABSTRACT EFFICACY USING THREE - DIMENSIONAL LAPAROSCOPY IN THE TREATMENT OF DISTAL GASTRIC CANCER Background: Recent studies have supported that three - dimensional (3D) laparoscopy has advantages in treating gastric cancer compared with conventional two - dimensional (2D) screens. This study investigated the safety, short - term efficacy, and oncological outcome of three - dimensional (3D) laparoscopic distal gastric cancer surgery. Materials and Methods: We prospectively analyzed the clinical data from 37 patients treated with 3D laparoscopic systemic lymphadenectomy for distal gastric cancer at the Hue Central Hospital from March 2018 to September 2021. The effects on operative time, intraoperative blood loss, the number of lymph nodes removed, postoperative recovery time, complications, and oncologic outcome were analyzed. Results: Three - dimensional (3D) laparoscopic distal gastrectomy was successfully carried out in 37 patients. The mean operative time was 69,86 ± 20,46 minutes, mean intraoperative blood loss was 171,22 ± 15,47 ml, the number of harvested lymph nodes was 20,49 ± 4,11, and the mean postoperative hospital stay was 10 (6 - 26 days). The incidence of postoperative complications was 8,1%, with 1 case of duodenal stump fistula. The one - year overall survival rate was 87,27%, and the three - year overall survival rate was 83,31%. Conclusions: 3D laparoscopy distal gastrectomy could be performed safely and feasibly. They reducethe operative time and intraoperative blood loss in distal gastrectomy with a good oncologic outcome. Background: Atypical eating behaviors and feeding issues are common in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Aim: This study aims to evaluate the nutritional status and eating behavior of the ASD and typically developing groups. Methods: A case-control study was conducted from January to April 2019 in Nghe An, Vietnam. A total of 93 children in each group participated in the study with their main caregivers. We applied the Children's Eating Behavior Inventory (CEBI) to evaluate the eating behaviors of children. Results: Overweight and obesity in ASD children accounted for 41.9%. The CEBI score and %CEBI of the ASD group was higher than that of the control group (104.0 ± 14.2 and 91.3 ± 8.3; 24.1 ± 21.4 and 5.0 ± 11.8, respectively). Most of the adverse mealtime behaviors of ASD children focused on excessive duration (52.7%), distraction (40.9%), and food refusal (39.8%). In total 88.2% of caregivers had to comfort their ASD children at every meal, followed by threatening, scolding, or punishing children if they refused to eat (57.0%). Conclusion: Being overweight/obese and having eating behavior difficulties were prevalent among ASD children in Vietnam. Safer alternatives, such as lifestyle measures and seeking help from a nutritional therapist, can help ASD children reduce weight and modify their erroneous feeding habits.

In the context of COVID-19 pandemic, eHealth Literacy is important and essential for healthcare workers, especially medical students; eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS) was developed to measured eHealth literacy of individuals, with higher eHEALS scores indicated greater ehealth literacy.The study evaluates the reliability and validity of Vietnamese version of eHEALS and analyzed some factors affecting on eHEALS score among Hanoi Medical University students in Vietnam.A cross-sectional study design was adopted, and data were elicited from 494 medical students. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA); Cronbach's alpha and correlation coefficients; split-half assessment; Poisson regression analysis were applied.The total score of our subjects in the eHEALS was 30.34 ± 4.57. The results from Bartlett's test, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) test, calculated Cronbach's alpha coefficient and test-retest reliability were high. Poisson regression identified that eHEALS scores of participants was significantly associated with device, ongoing medical condition and trustworthiness of health information source (p 0.05).Our study helps researchers who conduct studies in eHealth develop optimal applied and intervention researches in subjects with medical knowledge. Additional studies need to be required with numerous different groups of people in Vietnam.The Vietnamese version of eHEALS is a reliable and valid measure. Device, medical condition and trustworthiness of health information source are factors affecting on eHEALS score of students in Hanoi Medical University.

Purpose: To evaluate the early results of the feasibility and safety on technology and oncologic transanal total mesorectal excision (down to up). Materils and method: Prospective study from 2012 to 2018. Patients: 23 rectum adenocarcinoma staging T ≤ 3, N ≤ 1, M0 were operated using one of two modalities Hybrid NOTES (A) and NOTES (B). Results: Twenty three patients with Rectal cancer were sucessfully in total mesorectal excision performed by Hybrid NOTES and NOTES procedures. Three cases in group NOTES had per-operative complications such as bleeding or urethra injury required one or two trocarts for assistance, no conversion to open surgery and no mortality. The operation time: group A (Hybrid NOTES): 190 ± 47 (120-280) mins; group B (NOTES): 258 ± 40 (190-300) mins. The hospital stay: 9 ± 2.7 (4-19) day. Conclusions: transanal total mesorectal excision (down to up) endoscopic surgery (NOTES) and Hybrid NOTES is feasible and safe.However, a study in a large number of patient and long follow-up is necessary. Purposes This cross-sectional study assessed the quality of life and related factors of Vietnamese women during perimenopause in terms of vasomotor, psychosocial, physical, and sexual aspects. Materials and methods A cross-sectional study on 400 middle-aged women was conducted in Hung Yen, a delta province in Vietnam. Data about socioeconomic characteristics, daily activity patterns, quality of life in terms of vasomotor, psychosocial, physical, and sexual aspects, and level of social support were collected. Tobit multivariate regression model was used to identify factors related to the quality of life among participants. Results The symptoms of perimenopause appeared to worsen with the increase of age and the existence of such health issues as migraine and diabetes. Meanwhile, exercises, recreational activities, and social support appeared to alleviate the negative impact of perimenopausal symptoms on women. Conclusions It is important to address the care needs of women during perimenopausal age, especially their sexual well-being, and development of specific healthcare services and programs focusing on sport, entertainment, and support for women in perimenopause should be facilitated.

Mesenchymal hamartoma of the liver (MHL) is a benign tumour that most commonly occurs in children. In most cases of MHL, the α fetoprotein (AFP) level is within the normal limits, only in a few cases, increased AFP has been described which usually causes misdiagnosis of hepatoblastoma. We report a case of a 3-month-old paediatric patient who was incidentally detected with a very high level of AFP, at 6388.4 ng ml−1. Ultrasound revealed a right liver tumour, segment VI, measuring at 56 × 53 mm. According to images of ultrasound and MRI, the diagnosis was mesenchymal hepatic sarcoma. The paediatric patient had surgery to remove the entire liver segment containing the tumour. Micropathological examination showed that the tumour was a MHL. The serum AFP level fell rapidly to near normal following the surgery. The MHL benign liver tumour with an atypical presentation caused a very high AFP level. This was a rare clinical case, and it was difficult to diagnose.

Health personnel and community workers are at the front line of the COVID-19 emergency response and need to be equipped with adequate knowledge related to epidemics for an effective response. This study aimed to identify the coverage of COVID-19 health information via different sources accessed by health workers and community workers in Vietnam. A cross-sectional study using a web-based survey was carried out from January to February 2020 in Vietnam. Respondent-driven sampling (RDS) was used for recruiting participants. We utilized the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to examine the construct validity of the questionnaire. A higher percentage of participants knew about &ldquo, Clinical and pathogen characteristics of COVID-19&rdquo, compared to &ldquo, Regulations and policies related to COVID-19&rdquo, The percentage of participants accessing the information on &ldquo, Guidelines and policies on prevention and control of COVID-19&rdquo, was the lowest, especially among medical students. &ldquo, Mass media and peer-educators&rdquo, channels had a higher score of accessing COVID-19 information, compared to &ldquo, Organizations/ agencies/ associations&rdquo, sources. Participants consumed most of their COVID-19 information via &ldquo, Internet, online newspapers, social networks&rdquo, Our findings indicate an urgency to re-design training programs and communication activities for a more effective dissemination of information related to the COVID-19 epidemic or epidemics in general.

Globally, approximately 335 million people are being affected by asthma. Given that asthma is a chronic airway condition that cannot be cured, the disease negatively impacts physical health and results in losses of productivity of people experiencing asthma, leading to decrease in quality of life. This study aims at demonstrating the research trends worldwide and identifying the research gaps in interventions for improving quality of life of patients with asthma. Bibliometric approach and content analysis, which can objectively evaluate the productivity and research landscapes in this field, were utilized. In this study, we systematically quantified the development of research landscapes associated with interventions for improving quality of life of people experiencing asthma. Along with the gradual growth in the number of publications, these research topics have relatively expanded in recent years. While the understanding of the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of asthma has been well-established, recent research has showed high interest in the control and management of asthma. Findings of this study suggest the need for more empirical studies in developing countries and further investigation into the effects of environment factors on asthma outcomes, as well as the economic burden of asthma.

The rising prevalence and global burden of diabetes fortify the need for more comprehensive and effective management to prevent, monitor, and treat diabetes and its complications. Applying artificial intelligence in complimenting the diagnosis, management, and prediction of the diabetes trajectory has been increasingly common over the years. This study aims to illustrate an inclusive landscape of application of artificial intelligence in diabetes through a bibliographic analysis and offers future direction for research. Bibliometrics analysis was combined with exploratory factor analysis and latent Dirichlet allocation to uncover emergent research domains and topics related to artificial intelligence and diabetes. Data were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The results showed a rising trend in the number of papers and citations concerning AI applications in diabetes, especially since 2010. The nucleus driving the research and development of AI in diabetes is centered around developed countries, mainly consisting of the United States, which contributed 44.1% of the publications. Our analyses uncovered the top five emerging research domains to be: (i) use of artificial intelligence in diagnosis of diabetes, (ii) risk assessment of diabetes and its complications, (iii) role of artificial intelligence in novel treatments and monitoring in diabetes, (iv) application of telehealth and wearable technology in the daily management of diabetes, and (v) robotic surgical outcomes with diabetes as a comorbid. Despite the benefits of artificial intelligence, challenges with system accuracy, validity, and confidentiality breach will need to be tackled before being widely applied for patients&rsquo, benefits.

Quality of life (QOL) has been considered as an important outcome indicator in holistic care for HIV-infected people, especially as HIV/AIDS transforms from a fatal illness to a chronic condition. This study aimed to identify trends and emerging topics among research concerning the QOL of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). The analyzed data were English papers published from 1996 to 2017, searched and extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection. Collaborations between countries and the correlation between the keywords were visualized by VOSviewer while the abstracts&rsquo, content was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis and Jaccard&rsquo, s&rsquo, similarity index. There has been an increase in both the number of publications and citations. The United Nations of America leads in terms of paper volume. The cross-nation collaborations are mainly regional. Despite a rather comprehensive coverage of topics relating to QOL in PLWHA, there has evidently been a lack of studies focusing on socio-cultural factors and their impacts on the QOL of those who are HIV-infected. Further studies should consider investigating the role of socio-cultural factors, especially where long-term treatment is involved. Policy-level decisions are recommended to be made based on the consideration of cultural factors, while collaborations between developed and developing nations, in particular in HIV/AIDS-ridden countries, are strongly recommended.

Understanding the predictors of health conditions and exposure to secondhand smoke among children is necessary to determine the severity of the issues and identify effective solutions. Despite the significant prevalence in smoking and child exposure to secondhand smoke, there have been only a few studies focusing on this area in Vietnam, and thus the current study aims to fill in this gap. The questionnaires of 435 children aged between 0 and 6 and their caregivers, who agreed to participate in the research, were collected at the Pediatric Department of Bach Mai hospital, Hanoi, in 2016. Multivariable logistic regression was employed to identify factors associated with perceived health status and exposure to secondhand smoke among children in the last 24 h and the last 7 days from the date of the survey. Our study found that 43% of the respondents had smokers in the family, and 46.4% of children were exposed to passive smoking in the last 7 days. Urban children were most frequently exposed to passive smoking at home and in public, whereas in the rural area, the home and relatives&rsquo, houses were the most common places for exposure. Compared to children whose caregivers were farmers, children of non-government workers were more likely to be exposed to passive smoking in the last 7 days. Moreover, children in a family having smoking rules and no smokers were less likely to be exposed to passive smoking in the last 24 h and 7 days than those living in a family allowing smoking and having smokers. In conclusion, our study shows that the government needs to implement better public smoking monitoring and encourage caregivers to implement smoke-free households or smoking rules in their houses.

Background While internal migrants in Vietnam have been a key driving force in the country's rapid economic development, they also face many vulnerabilities. Our study seeks to explore possible inequalities in housing and working conditions between local and internal migrant industrial workers in Vietnam. Methods Cross-sectional surveys were conducted with 1200 industrial workers in four regions of Vietnam. Dependent variables included housing conditions (satisfaction with convenience of accommodation, sanitation and water of accommodation, and accommodation in general) and working conditions (satisfaction with income, monthly income, number of hazardous working conditions, and work-related stress measured through the modified Effort-Reward Imbalance Questionnaire). The primary independent variable is migrant status. Covariates included region, gender, education, marital status, accommodation status, living arrangements, industry, age, monthly income, experience, and working hours. Results Of the sample, 24.7% (n = 296) were migrants. Overall, no differences were found regarding housing conditions by migrant status. In adjusted regression models, migrants reported higher numbers of hazardous working conditions (β = 0.07, 95 %CI = 0.01–0.13, p = 0.01) and higher monthly income (β = 0.05, 95 %CI = 0.01–0.09, p = 0.02). Discussion Recent state-level changes in the Vietnamese household registration system may explain the lack of differences in housing conditions by migrant status. Future research should utilize longitudinal designs to examine impacts over time of state policy on migrants’ housing conditions as well as well-being. Regarding working conditions, findings highlight the need for stronger social protection policy and better information channels on occupational health and safety for migrants. Further research, including qualitative studies, is needed to explore why migrants face more hazardous working conditions.
