The objective of the present study was to evaluate the response of eggplant, cv. ‘Ciça’, with respect to yield, number of fruits and dry matter (root and stem), when grown in a greenhouse and conducted under fertigation with nitrogen and potassium. The experiment was conducted in the Irrigation Technical Center of the State University of Maringá, between the months of February and August 2015. Four nitrogen doses (0.0; 6.43; 12.86 and 25.72 g of N plant-1) and four potassium doses (0.0; 5.18; 10.36 and 20.73 g of K plant-1) were tested, totaling 16 treatments in a 4 x 4 factorial scheme, arranged in a completely randomized design with four replicates, in a Red Latosol with sandy texture. The highest number of fruits per plant and yield were found in the range of 14-17 g of N plant-1 (145-177 kg N ha-1). Single doses of potassium did not statistically influence yield and root dry matter. RESUMO Objetivou-se, no presente estudo, avaliar a resposta da cultura da berinjela, cultivar Ciça, com relação à produtividade, número de frutos e massa seca (raiz e caule), quando cultivada em ambiente protegido e conduzida sob fertirrigação com nitrogênio e potássio. O experimento foi conduzido no Centro Técnico de Irrigação da Universidade Estadual de Maringá, entre os meses de fevereiro e agosto de 2015. Foram testadas quatro doses de nitrogênio (0,0; 6,43; 12,86 e 25,72 g de N planta-1) e quatro doses de potássio (0,0; 5,18; 10,36 e 20,73 g de K planta-1), perfazendo 16 tratamentos em esquema fatorial 4 x 4, dispostos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com quatro repetições, em Latossolo vermelho distrófico, de textura arenosa. O maior número de frutos por planta e produtividade foi obtido na dose entre 14-17 g de N planta-1 (145-177 kg ha-1). Doses isoladas de potássio não influenciaram estatisticamente a produtividade nem a massa seca de raiz.

An important aspect in the cultivation of vegetables is the quality of the product to be marketed, free from dirt and damage and the practice of mulching could be an option, but there is scarse information. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of mulching on the production traits of three cultivars of Pak Choi. The experiment was set up during March to May 2013 using a split plot randomized block design, with four replications. Soil cover treatments (white agrotextile, black agrotextile, black plastic, silver plastic, tifton straw and bare soil) were arranged in the plots, and three cultivars of Pak Choi (Green Pak Choi, White Pak Choi and Chingensai Natsu Shomi) in subplots. Height and diameter of shoots, number of leaves, fresh weight of the head and petiole, base diameter, dry weight of stem, petiole, and leaf were evaluated thirty-five days after transplantation. The total dry weight and leaf area were measured, and then we estimated the yield. There was a significant effect of soil cover and cultivar. In general, the cover with synthetic materials showed higher values on production of Pak Choi. The cultivar White Pak Choi was better adapted to the growing conditions, with an average yield of 57.78 t/ha. Um aspecto importante no cultivo das hortaliças é a qualidade do produto a ser comercializado, livre de sujeira e danos e a prática de cobertura do solo poderia ser uma opção, mas as informações são escassas. O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar a influência de coberturas de solo sobre as características de produção de três cultivares de Pak Choi. O experimento foi conduzido de março a maio 2013 usando o delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos de cobertura do solo (tecido não tecido branco, tecido não tecido preto, plástico preto, plástico prata, palha de tifton e solo nu) foram dispostos nas parcelas, e as três cultivares de Pak Choi (Green Pak Choi, White Pak Choi e Chingensai Natsu Shomi) dispostas nas subparcelas. Altura e diâmetro da parte aérea, número de folhas, massa fresca da cabeça e pecíolo, diâmetro do colo, massa seca de caule, pecíolo, e folhas foram avaliados 35 dias após o transplante. Foram medidos a massa total da parte aérea e o rendimento. Houve um efeito significativo da cobertura do solo e cultivar. Em geral, a cobertura com materiais sintéticos mostrou valores mais elevados na produção de Pak Choi. A cultivar White Pak Choi foi melhor adaptada às condições de cultivo com um rendimento médio de 57,78 t/ha.
