This research aimed to determine the relationship between playing the violin and the severity of TMD and the maximum pressure on the chin rest within safe limits while playing the violin, to prevent TMD occurrence. The 20 violin players of OSUI Mahawaditra and MYSO orchestra were undergoing the examination and interview. Measurement of the pressure on the chin rest was done using a Flexi force device attached to the chin, which will measure the chin pressure on the instrument (N). The highest maximum pressure is 15.157 N, while the lowest maximum pressure is 0.126 N. The most elevated average pressure is 6.203 N, and the most moderate average pressure is 0.025 N. There is a strong relationship between chin pressure on the chin rest and TMD conditions in the violinist. There is no relationship between the frequency and duration of violin training with TMD conditions in violin players. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to provide information about the prevalence of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) in young violin orchestra players as an illustration of TMD events in violinists in Indonesia. The subjects were 68 violin players of OSUI Mahawaditra and MYSO orchestra. The data gathered through an interview and some questionnaires. The TMD clinical examination included the palpation of head and neck muscles and the measurement of mouth opening. The caliper used for mouth opening height, while two fingers used for muscle palpation. Based on Fonseca's analysis, the prevalence of TMD revealed in young violinists is 90%, while the prevalence of TMD based on DC-TMD form is 80%. This study concluded that there is a high prevalence of TMD in young violinists from several orchestras in Indonesia, with the values that more than 50%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to determine the effect of duplication of palatine rugae on the acrylic denture base on speech quality in patients with a complete denture. This study was conducted on ten subjects. All subjects used full denture with two kinds of maxillary dentures. The sound resulted from each subject taken before using complete denture, when using the denture without duplicating the palate rugae and when using the denture with duplication of palatine rugae. The values obtained were then processed and analyzed by the Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. The sound quality produced showed a significant value of 0.000 in the pronunciation of letters / t/, / d /, and articulation in the Kruskal Wallis test (p <0.05) in each group assessed. The Mann-Whitney Post Hoc test also obtained a significant value (0.000 with p-value <0.05) for comparison of the use of full denture without duplication of palatine rugae and a complete denture with duplication of palatine rugae. This study concluded that denture wearers' speech quality with duplication of palatine rugae was better than the one without palatine rugae. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To show and describe what kind of fixed partial denture usually used in patient with bone loss. The articles was search form PubMed data base. The electronic databases were searched using of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms, search terms and their combinations: “fixed partial denture” and “alveolar bone loss”. There are 35 journals explained about this, with only 5 journals meet the inclusion criteria. The database search yielded 35 references from PubMed. The titles and abstract were reviewed afterward, and 13 studies were eligible for further analysis. The full-texts been reviewed by the reviewer and yielded 5 articles which meet the inclusion criteria, with the total patient 270. There is scientific evidence that implant and combination of fixed bridge with removable were mostly used in patient with alveolar bone loss [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
