© 2017 Elsevier B.V. Thermochemical properties of aliphatic nitroalkanes available in the literature are scarce and inconsistent. New standard molar enthalpies of vaporization and sublimation of 2-nitropropane, 2-methyl-2-nitropropane, and 2,3-dimethyl-2,3-dinitrobutane were derived from the vapor pressure temperature dependence measured by the transpiration method. Thermodynamic data on linear and branched aliphatic mono- and di-nitroalkanes available in the literature were combined with own experimental results and evaluated with help of empirical and theoretical methods aiming at recommendation of the sets of vaporization and formation enthalpies for aliphatic nitroalkanes as the reliable benchmark properties for further thermochemical calculations. Gas phase standard molar enthalpies of formation of aliphatic nitro-compounds derived by high-level quantum-chemical method G4 were found in a good agreement with the evaluated and recommended experimental data. Group-additivity procedure for calculation of vaporization and formation enthalpies have been developed and tested.

This article describes the compositional depth profiling (CDP) of diamond-like carbon (DLC) layers by Glow Discharge-Optical Emission Spectrometry (GD-OES). The DLC layers were deposited on flat steel samples. Analysis by using a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) GD-OES instrument revealed saturation effects of the carbon lines at 156 nm and 165 nm. Therefore, the application of these lines for CDP of DLC layers is not possible. A third line at 193 nm was not affected by this saturation effect and is therefore a good choice for calibration. A second effect was observed as a non-flat crater in combination with large differences of the sputtering rate factor of the substrate (1.1) and the DLC (0.032) led to an unusual behaviour at the interface between the DLC layer and substrate. Both measurements of the crater shape and of the sputtered coating weight up to the interface and just behind it showed clearly that about 30% of the DLC layer remains at the crater edge, once the crater centre reaches the interface. This was found to be the main reason for the incorrect DLC-layer thickness, if the intersection between the carbon and iron concentration was used as a measure for the end of the DLC layer.

Einleitung: Pharynxfisteln nach Operationen an der Halswirbelsäule sind in der Literatur nur selten beschrieben und stellen gefürchtete Komplikationen dar. Bei Operationen an der Halswirbelsäule wird meist ein anteriorer Zugang mit Mobilisation des pharyngealen Strukturen zur Gegenseite gewählt, wobei Komplikationen in Form von Fistelbildung entstehen können. Methode: Wir berichten über einen 63-jährigen Patienten mit Speichel- sowie Nahrungsaustritt aus einer fistelnden Wunde am 14. Tag postoperativ nach Diskektomie HWK 3/4 und ventraler Fusion mit Cage in einem peripheren Krankenhaus. Ergebnisse: Bei der direkten Pharyngoskopie zeigte sich ein ca. 10 cm langer Fistelgang in den Halsweichteilen mit freiliegender Osteosynthese. Anschließend erfolgte die Exploration, Speichelfistelrevision und Defektdeckung mit einem gestielten Sternocleidomastoideuslappen in neurochirurgischer Kooperation. Postoperativ erhielt der Patient eine nasogastrale Sonde, eine Antibiotikatherapie mit Cefuroxim und Metronidazol und zur Speichelreduktion Scopoderm-transdermal-Pflaster. In der abschließend durchgeführten Kontrastmitteldarstellung nach zweiwöchiger Nahrungskarrenz zeigte sich kein Anhalt für eine erneute Fistel, so dass mit dem vorsichtigen Kostaufbau begonnen werden konnte. In der Verlaufskontrolle nach weiteren 4 Wochen zeigte sich der Patient beschwerdefrei und ohne eine erneute Fistel. Schlussfolgerung: Pharynxfisteln nach HWS-Eingriffen mit Einbringen von Osteosynthesematerial sind sehr seltene und ernst zu nehmende Komplikationen. Es sollte eine sofortige Antibiotikatherapie, Nahrungskarrenz, Speichelreduktion sowie die chirurgische Revision erfolgen. Es empfiehlt sich eine engmaschige Nachkontrolle sowie eine Fortsetzung der Antibiotikatherapie für weitere 3 Wochen, um Rezidive zu vermeiden. Eine erfolgreiche Behandlung ist meistens nur möglich, wenn ausreichend Weichgewebe zwischen Pharynx und HWS interponiert werden kann. We calculate the temperature dependence of the correlation length xi and the uniform susceptibility chi_0 of the frustrated J1-J2 square-lattice Heisenberg ferromagnet in the collinear stripe phase using Green-function technique. The height chi_{max} and the position T(chi_{max}) of the maximum in the chi_0(T) curve exhibit a characteristic dependence on the frustration parameter J2/|J1|, which is well described by power laws, chi_{max}=a(J2-J2^c)^{-nu} and T(chi_{max})=b(J_2-J_2^c), where J2^c = 0.4 and nu is of the order of unity.The correlation length diverges at low temperatures as xi \propto e^{A/T}, where A increases with growing J2/|J1|.
