At a three-leaf stage, two Fe treatments [0 mg kg-1(Fe-) and 20 mg·kg-1 (Fe+) in the form of FeCl3] were used in the soil of the pot and then two concentrations of a-ketoglutaric acid [0 mg L-1 (A-) and 50 mg L-1 (A+)] were sprayed to the rice plants of Meixiangzhan and Yuxiangyouzhan cultivars. We showed that seedlings exhibited an increased length and fresh and dry mass of shoots and roots with treatments Fe+A- and Fe-A+, as well as the Fe content increased greatly. Both treatments increased the morphological characteristic values of roots and promoted photosynthesis. Interestingly, Fe+A+ notably affected the photosynthesis of fragrant rice seedlings; however, it exerted no significant differences on other parameters. Overall, Fe and α-ketoglutaric acid had the potential for improving the growth of fragrant rice seedlings. The interaction between Fe and α-ketoglutaric acid regulated photosynthesis in seedling leaves, which provided evidence for further improvement of rice cultivation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Gleeble - 1500D thermal simulator was used to conduct the isothermal compression test of 21 - 4N heat-resistant steel under the T range of 1 273 - 1 453 K and ε of 0,01 -- 10 s-1. Using the obtained stress - strain data, various parameters of the modified Zerilli-Armstrong (m -- Z - A) model were calculated. The constitutive equations of 21 - 4N heat-resistant steel based on the m -- Z - A were established. The m -- Z - A model can well describe the rheological behavior of 21 - 4N heat-resistant steel. The simulation process can be completed successfully, indicating that the established models can be used for the simulation study of thermal deformation of 21 - 4N heat-resistant steel and are correct. OBJECTIVE: In recent years, circular RNAs (circRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) have been shown to be related to the development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, their functional mechanisms remain to be investigated. Herein, we focus our research on the functions and mechanisms of circCNOT6L and miR-384 in ESCC. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The levels of circCNOT6L, miR-384, and fibronectin 1 (FN1) were determined using quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR). RNase R was used to investigate circCNOT6L stabilization. Cell proliferation and apoptosis were assessed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay and flow cytometry, respectively. Western blot assay was employed to analyze the protein levels of FN1, proliferation-related genes, and iron metabolism-related genes. In addition, the interaction between miR-384 and circCNOT6L or FN1 was predicted by starBase3.0 and confirmed by the Dual-Luciferase reporter assay. Mouse xenograft was carried out to measure the effect of circCNOT6L on tumor growth in vivo. RESULTS: CircCNOT6L and FN1 levels were upregulated, and miR-384 level was downregulated in ESCC tissues/cells. CircCNOT6L knockdown attenuated ESCC cell proliferation and iron metabolism disorder, as well as accelerated apoptosis. Notably, circCNOT6L targeted miR-384, and miR-384 targeted FN1. MiR-384 depletion and FN1 upregulation weakened the effects of circCNOT6L knockdown and miR-384 overexpression on ESCC cell progression, respectively. Besides, circCNOT6L knockdown inhibited tumor growth in vivo. CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrated that circCNOT6L positively regulated the development of ESCC cells via modulating miR-384/ FN1 axis. Thermal compression test temperature ranged from 800 to 1 200 °C, the strain rate ranged from 0,01 to 10 s-l, and the deformation degree was 60% of engineering strain, the deformation behavior of 42CrMo gear steel was studied. As the deformation temperature increases and the strain rate decreases, the stress decreases significantly. By polynomial fitting the relationship between strain(0,05 - 0,9, at intervals of 0,05) and material constants, the straincompensationed Arrhenius constitutive equation for 42CrMo gear steel is established. The correlation coefficient between the experimental data and the predicted data reached 0,9925. This shows that the Arhenius constitutive equation has high accuracy in predicting steel 42CrMo for gear. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The hot compression test was conducted in Gleeble-1 500D to study the hot flow stress behavior of AA6 111 aluminum alloy belonging to Al-Mg-Si series, at the deformation temperatures ranging from 350 to 500 °C and strain rates ranging from 0,01 s-1 to 1 s-1. And how the flow stress change with variation of strain, temperature and strain rate was investigated. The results show that flow stress increases with decreasing temperature and increasing strain rate; the AA6 111 is positive stain rate sensitive material; the main softening mechanism is dynamic recovery. Furthermore, constitutive equation considering the effect of strain was obtained based on Arrhenius equation. The predicted flow stress values well agree with the experimental results with some little aberration. OBJECTIVE: To detect the expression of long non-coding ribonucleic acid (lncRNA) plasmacytoma variant translocation gene 1 (PVT1) in uveal melanoma (UM) tissues, and to investigate its influence on the proliferation and apoptosis of UM cells as well as its mechanism. PATIENTS AND METHODS: 40 cases of UM tissues and 40 cases of adjacent tissues surgically resected in our hospital from October 2015 to April 2018 were collected. The expression level of lncRNA PVT1 in these tissues was determined by Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). Stable knockdown of lncRNA PVT1 was constructed in human UM cell line OCM-1 using small interfering RNA (siRNA). The impact of lncRNA PVT1 on UM cell proliferation was detected by Cell Counting kit-8 (CCK- 8) and colony formation assay. Flow cytometry was applied to measure the apoptotic level of UM cells in the blank control group and lncRNA PVT1 knockdown group. Meanwhile, the expression level of enhancer of zeste homologue 2 (EZH2) was determined by Western blotting. RESULTS: The expression level of lncRNA PVT1 in UM tissues was remarkably higher than that in the adjacent tissues (p<0.05). UM cell proliferation was notably repressed after lncRNA PVT1 knockdown by siRNA. Flow cytometry results indicated that the number of apoptotic UM cells in lncRNA PVT1 knockdown group significantly increased compared with that in the blank control group (p<0.05). The protein expression of EZH2 was suppressed after lncRNA PVT1 knockdown (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: LncRNA PVT1 knockdown in UM cells can repress the proliferation of UM cells and promote their apoptosis by regulating EZH2 expression. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Phase relations in Cu–Ti–Hf ternary system have been studied by diffusion triple technique supplemented with typical alloy sampling method. Based on results from electron-probe microscopy analysis and X-ray diffraction, isothermal sections of the Cu–Ti–Hf system at 800 and 700 °C were established, which consist of ten and nine three-phase regions, respectively. It is observed that Ti can completely substitute Hf in the CuHf2 phase, indicating formation of a continuous solid solution Cu(Ti,Hf)2. Hf can substitute about 20% Ti in the phase CuTi, while solubility of Ti in Cu10Hf7 and Cu51Hf14 phases reaches to 14 and 11 at.% at 800 °C, respectively. The Cu8Hf3 phase in existence at 800 °C was proved to be unstable at 700 °C. In addition, the elastic modulus and hardness of solid solution Cu(Ti,Hf)2 were determined by using nano-indentation techniques. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Shape memory alloys (SMAs) in the form of rings or tubes with two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) have been applied to high-speed precision micro-mechanical systems. This study investigates the development of NiTi alloy rings with TWSME and analyzes the effects of annealing and thermo-mechanical treatments. The results show there is a maximum in TWSME with respect to annealing temperature, loading deformation, training temperature, and cycle, respectively. The TWSME of SMA rings stabilizes earlier than structure dimension during training. The annealing and training change phase transition temperatures, which has a negative effect on the SMA ring with application to clamping device. A prototype ring made of Ni-49.2 at%Ti was developed and applied to a high-seed precision micro-spindle. Its performance under static and ultra-high speed rotation conditions was tested. The results show the ring developed in this study satisfies the operation and clamping requirements of high-speed precision micro-mechanical systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
