This article discusses the barriers to belonging that women of color face in the tech industry. The author conducted a survey and interviews with women of color in technology to measure their sense of belonging and identify the top contributors and detractors. The study found that women of color reported a mediocre sense of belonging, with variations based on ethnicity. Peer-based relationships were identified as the top positive contributor to their sense of belonging, while organizational culture was the biggest detractor. The article concludes with recommendations for leaders to support women of color and increase their sense of belonging in the workplace. [Extracted from the article]
