Humour in Bellow's prose is both rich and complex and it could not express better than it did, the author's propensity for self-analysis and self-scrutinizing heroes. The purpose of this paper is to highlight Bellow's mastery in handling his humour and presenting episodes that are both grotesque and absurd in some of his best novels, such as "Henderson, the Rain King", "Herzog", "Humboldt's Gift", "Mr. Sammler's Planet" and "The Dean's December". This paper follows a former descriptive study based on some qualitative research on the inextricable relationship that exists between a people's language and culture as well as the importance of effective communication in a foreign language, aiming at cultural integration in the context of a society of consumption and progress. At the core of this study is the combination of culture teaching in the foreign language class deepened more specifically by the suggested ways the teaching of the target culture and the intercultural education can be implemented in the English language class. The paper is an attempt to show the physiognomy of foreign language teaching in the secondary public schools in Vlora and suggest the use of several techniques and teaching methods integrating cultural elements in the English language teaching. By focusing on these techniques and teaching methods, the paper aims at highlighting the values of intercultural education as an incentive for their integration in the didactic, methodological and social aspects of the current foreign language teaching in Albanian schools. Recommendations on the possibilities of foreign language teachers' intervention in the integration of the target culture in foreign language teaching remain within the frame of the paper's scope. Technology and its advances have always attracted a great interest and instilled an ever-growing concern in people. Over the years, the mutual relationship between technology and language has often resembled a race in which each of the two --racers- finds itself ahead of the other. Representations of technological language in literature and everyday life situations will provide concrete evidence of the ways in which we find ourselves communicating in a world of cybernetics where new human relations are established thus producing a cyber-culture in a cyber-space. The attempt to reflect a social phenomenon such as technology of communication in a linguistic context will be the leading purpose of the present paper. Providing an accurate definition of the language itself and a description regarding the strong interrelatedness between language and society will set the ground for the argumentation to flow towards the influential and redefining role of technology in society. Twentieth century can be seen as an endless cycle of crisis that brought about transformations of the modern psyche as well as a great impact on the general literary thinking of the time with its burden of anxiety, its consciousness of modern nihilism and its hunger for moral recovery. This moment coincides with the start of a "Golden Age" for Jewish American Literature as well. Leading figures in this literary Jewish "renaissance" were Saul Bellow, Bernard Malamud, Philip Roth, Cynthia Ozick, Isaak Bashevis Singer, Grace Paley and others. They upraised the Jewish American literature from a non-inclusive ethnic sideshow to a mainstream. In most of their writings, the need to transcend alienation results from the Jewish suffering human condition as social outcasts. Jews had come to see America as a kind of heaven for themselves; this is why their preoccupation to express belongingness in some naturalistic American premises in almost every literary work is to be justified. The present paper will attempt to give a general picture of a parabolic transcending that starts with Ozick's conservative devotion to Jewish heredity and holocaust memory and transforms into Paley's liberal celebration of America's multicultural community. The illustrative sections will act as coordinates in this conceptual and transcendental parabolic 'diagram' which will offer good ground for the exploration of this feeling of otherness dominating the intellectual and historical consciousness of the post-war fictional individual in the modern world.
