Plastinasyon kısaca; doku sıvılarının reaktif bir polimer ile yer değiştirmesiyle karakterize bir anatomik preparat hazırlama tekniği olarak tanımlanabilir. Plastinasyon, diğer birçok anatomik yönteme kıyasla daha zorlu ve ekonomik açıdan maliyetli olsa da ortaya çıkan örneklerin doğal görüntüsüne son derece benzer, ayrıca dayanıklı ve insan sağlığı için zararsız son ürünler olmaları, bu yöntemi konuyla ilgilenen bilim insanları için gittikçe aranır hale getirmiştir. Plastinasyon teknikleri içerisinde en sık kullanılanı ve örneklerin estetik açıdan etkileyici görünmesi sebebiyle toplumda en bilinir olanı kuşkusuz silikon plastinasyonudur. Silikon plastinasyonu temel olarak 5 aşamadan oluşmaktadır. Bu aşamalar sırasıyla örneklerin hazırlanması, dehidrasyon, yağdan arındırma, zorlu impregnasyon ve gaz kürleme-sertleştirme olarak özetlenebilir. Silikon plastinasyonu protokolünün titizlikle uygulanması ve her aşamadaki parametrelere dikkat edilmesi, son ürünün istenilen amaca uygun olması açısından son derece önemlidir. Bu çalışma için iki adet köpek böbreği, iki adet merkep böbreği ile iki adet sığır böbreği kullanılmıştır. Organların plastinasyonu sırasında, her aşamadaki parametreler kaydedilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı; evcil memeli hayvan böbreklerinin soğuk ortam tekniği ile silikon plastinasyonunu detaylarıyla anlatmak, bu tekniğin hangi alanlarda kullanılabileceği yönünde değerlendirmeler yapmak, böylelikle ülkemizde konuyla ilgilenen bilim insanlarına kılavuz olabilecek nitelikte bir kaynak ortaya koymaktır, Briefly plastination can be defined as an anatomic specimen preparation technique which is characterized as replacement of tissue fluids with a reactive polymer. However plastination is a difficult and economically high cost technique when compared with the other methods, the final products are quite similar to the natural appearance and they are also very durable and non-hazardous. These features have made this method very popular for the relevant scientists. Silicone plastination is the most oft-used and because of the esthetical outlook of the final products the most well-known technique among all plastination methods. Silicone plastination consists of 5 main stages. These are preparation of specimens, dehydration, defatting, forced impregnation and gas curinghardening respectively. To obtain a convenient plastinate these stages should be handled meticulously and the parameters in every stage should also be monitored carefully. Kidneys of two dogs, two donkeys and two cattles were plastinated for this study. The parameters in every stage were recorded. The aim of this study is to indicate the silicone plastination of the domestic mammals’ kidneys with cold temperature technique in detailed manner, to evaluate the scientific fields in which the plastination can be used conveniently and therefore produce a guide document for the relevant scientists in our country

The main principle of the plastination is to replace the tissue fluids in the specimen with a reactive polymer through the medium of an organic solvent. Low temperature silicone plastination has 5 main steps as is known. However these steps can be changed or modified depending on the anatomical or histological features of the specimen. Preparation and long-time preservation of reptile specimens need virtuosity, experience and a steady anatomic method either. Plastination can be a convenient alternative for that. However, studies based on the plastination of the squamata are quite insufficient. The aim of this study was to evaluate the lowtemperature whole body silicone plastination of scaled reptiles in detailed manner and to compare the plastination procedures of reptiles and the other mammals. It is also aimed to create a protocol for the silicone plastination of squamata. Two freshwater snakes and two blacksnakes were used for this study. Samples were processed to the short-term formalin fixation, dehydration, impregnation, and gas curing-hardening procedures respectively. Although defatting is in the standard procedure of plastination, this stage was skipped. The specified parameters such as temperature, time or concentration were recorded regularly in each step. We preferred short term formalin fixation for the specimens to preserve the natural colour and the morphology. Although the colour of the skin became a bit darker, the short term formalin fixation was considered as efficient. Two times of acetone bath was satisfying for the dehydration stage. Silicone impregnation stage took short period of time than expected. Plastinated specimens were not only elastic but also durable enough to use as teaching materials in the reptile anatomy lectures of our faculty, Plastinasyon; örnek içerisindeki doku sıvılarının, organik bir solvent aracılığıyla, reaktif bir polimer ile yer değiştirmesidir. Bilindiği üzere soğuk ortam silikon plastinasyonunun 5 temel aşaması vardır. Bu aşamalar plastine edilecek preparatın anatomik ve histolojik özelliklerine göre değiştirilebilir veya modifiye edilebilir. Sürüngen örneklerinin hazırlanması ve uzun süre muhafazasının sağlanabilmesi, güvenilir bir anatomik metot, teknik beceri ve deneyim gerektirir. Bu bağlamda plastinasyonun amaca uygun bir yöntem olarak öne çıkmasına rağmen, pullu sürüngenlerin plastinasyonu üzerine kurgulanmış makaleler oldukça yetersizdir. Bu çalışmanın amacı; pullu sürüngenlerin soğuk ortam tekniğiyle tüm vücut silikon plastinasyonunu detaylarıyla değerlendirmek, memeli ve sürüngen plastinasyon prosedürlerini birbiriyle karşılaştırmaktır. Ayrıca pullu sürüngenlerin plastinasyonu için bir protokol oturtmak da amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışma için iki adet tatlı su yılanı ile iki adet karayılan kullanılmıştır. Örnekler sırasıyla kısa süreli fiksasyon, dehidrasyon, impregnasyon ve gaz kürleme-sertleştirme işlemlerine tabi tutulmuş, yağdan arındırma aşaması temel adımlardan biri olmasına rağmen uygulanmamıştır. Her aşamada sıcaklık, konsantrasyon, süre gibi parametreler düzenli olarak kaydedilmiştir. Örneklerin doğal morfolojik özelliklerini koruması ve derinin doğal rengini kaybetmemesi için kısa süreli formalin fiksasyonu tercih edilmiştir. Deri renginin biraz kararmasına rağmen bu fiksasyon tekniğinin amaca uygun olduğu düşünülmüştür. Dehidrasyon aşamasında 2 defa uygulanan aseton banyosu yeterli görülmüştür. İmpregnasyon süreci beklenenden kısa sürede tamamlanmıştır. Plastine edilen örneklerin sadece elastik değil, aynı zamanda sürüngen anatomisi derslerinde kullanılabilecek kadar dayanıklı olduğu görülmüştür.

In this study, congenital malformations are described in one calf. In the calf, accessory tongue, which is a rare condition, was determined together with palatoschisis and growth malformations of cranial bones. The accessory tongue observed in this study is the first case described in calves.

The morphology of the spinal cord in 15 chickens, 15 ducks and 15 pigeons obtained from the Ankara region were examined. The spinal cord consisted of 15 cervical, 7 thoracic, 14 lumbosacral and 5 coccygeal segments (a total of 41 segments) in the chickens; 15 cervical, 8 thoracic, 16 lumbosacral and 5 coccygeal segments (a total of 44 segments) in the ducks and 13 cervical, 6 thoracic, 13 lumbosacral and 5 coccygeal segments (a total of 37 segments) in the pigeons. The cervical enlargement was composed of cervical segments 13-15 and thoracic segments 1-2 in the chickens; cervical segments 12-15 and thoracic segments 1-2 in the ducks and, cervical segments 11-13 and thoracic segments 1-2 in the pigeons. The lumbosacral enlargement in the chickens, ducks and pigeons included lumbosacral segments 1-12, 1-15 and 1-12 respectively. The rhomboidal sinus was measured. The central canal in the chickens, ducks and pigeons was located within the glycogen body at the lumbosacral segments 6-10, 5-11 and 2-9 respectively. The range of white matter and grey matter fields in the spinal cord segments was found using transversal sections of the segments schemes in all three species. The comparison of the morphology in segmental examination of the spinal cords was performed in the chicken, duck and pigeon, which belong to different groups of the bird family.

In this case presentation, patent foramen ovale which is congenital heart defect was described in the hypertrophic heart of an adult cattle. The heart was dissected carefully from the basis cordis area and place and position of defect was determined. Measurements were obtained by the use of a digital caliber meter. Then, tissue samples taken from the defective area stained with haematoxylin-eosin (HE) and Masson's Trichrom staining methods. The defect was in a form a tubuler type channel which was present between atrium dextrum and atrium sinistrum. Around the defect, there was a widespread fibrous tissue composed of fibroblasts, fibrocytes and dence collagenous type fibers. With this case reports, macroscopical and histopathological peculiarities of defect were determined in detail, Bu çalışmada, hipertrofi gözlenen yetişkin bir sığır kalbinde, kongenital bir defekt olan kalıcı foramen ovale olgusu tanımlandı. Atrium dextrum ile atrium sinistrum arasında bulunan defektin, tubüler bir kanal şeklinde olduğu gözlendi. Defekt çevresinde fibroblast, fibrosit ve yoğun kollagen ipliklerinden oluşan geniş fibröz bir dokuya rastlandı. In this study, 20 (n = 10 females, n = 10 males) adult ducks obtained from Ankara region were used. After euthanasia by ketamine-xylazine combinations, all muscles were removed. Bones were boiled for 1-2 h for maceration. It was determined that the patella was in a square shape in females whereas it was in a rectanguler shape in males. Sulcus musculus ambientis located at the center of facies cranialis was more prominent in females in comparison to males. It was observed that its lenght was 8-9 mm in females and 11-12 mm in males and its width was 4-5 mm in females and 7-8 mm in males, Araştırmada Ankara yöresinden temin edilen toplam 20 adet (10 adet dişi, 10 adet erkek) ergin ördek kullanıldı. Materyaller, ketamine-xylazine kombinasyonu ile uyutulduktan sonra bütün kaslar temizlendi. Maserasyon için kemikler 1-2 saat kaynatıldı. Patella’nın dişide kare, erkekte dikdörtgen şeklinde olduğu saptandı. Facies cranialis’in ortasında bulunan sulcus musculus ambientis’in, dişilerde erkeklere göre daha belirgin olduğu gözlendi. Kemiğin kalınlığı, dişilerde ortalama 1mm erkeklerde ise 2 mm olduğu, uzunluğu dişide ortalama 8-9 mm, erkeklerde ise 11-12 mm arasında, eni ise dişide 4-5 mm, erkekte 7-8 mm olarak belirlendi

This study aimed to document the detailed features of the nasal cavity in Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) by the use of ten mature quails. The heads of the birds were sectioned slightly paramedially and transversally in rostrocaudal sequence. Then, sections were placed in 0.1% methylene blue for 15 min followed by 50% and 70% ethyl alcohol series, respectively. The nasal cavity was formed rostrally by the nostrils which were two narrow longitudinal openings located at the upper part of the base of the beak. They were Nares perviae, a kind of open nares type. The choana possessed two openings communicating the nasal cavity with the oral cavity. The rostral nasal concha was present lying opposite the nostrils, showing, in transverse sections, C-shaped appearance in form with 6.23±0.1 mm long and 3.85±0.2 mm wide dorso-ventrally at its base. The middle nasal concha situated obliquely between the rostral nasal concha and the caudal nasal concha was the largest of all, being 8.32±0.21 mm long and 2.54±0.12 mm wide dorso-ventrally. In cross section, it exhibited a scroll-like structure with one-half turning ventro-laterally. The caudal nasal concha, the smallest one, resembled a hemisphere of 3.2±0.15 mm in diameter with its caudal border attaching to the olfactory region of the nasal cavity, and its cranial edge being free. The septal nasal concha was absent and the infraorbital sinus was highly developed in the Japanese quails examined, Bu çalışma, on ergin Japon bıldırcını kullanarak (Coturnix coturnix japonica) cavitas nasalis’in özelliklerini detaylı olarak incelemeyi amaçladı. Kuşların başlarına paramedian ve rostro-caudal yönde sırasıyla transversal kesitler yapıldı. Daha sonra kesitler, sırasıyla 15 dakika %0,1’lik metilen blue içerisinde bekletilmesini takiben %50 ve %70’lik etil alkolden geçirildi. Burun boşluğu rostralde ibiğin tabanının üst kısmında yerleşmiş olan iki dar longitudinal açıklık olan burun delikleri tarafından şekillendirilmişti (açık tip burun deliği olan nares perviae). Choana burun boşluğu ve ağız boşluğu arasındaki ilişkiyi sağlayan iki açıklığa sahipti. Concha nasalis rostralis burun boşluklarının karşı tarafında yerleşmiş, transversal kesitlerde dorso-ventral olarak tabanda 6.23±0.1 mm uzunluğunda ve 3.85±0.2 mm genişliğinde, C harfi şekline bir yapıdaydı. Concha nasalis rostralis ve concha nasalis caudalis arasında oblik olarak yerleşmiş olan ve dorso-ventral 8.32±0.21 mm uzunluğunda ve 2.54±0.12 mm genişliğinde olan concha nasalis medialis concha’lar arasında en büyüğüydü. Enine kesitlerde yarısı ventro-lateral’e dönük külah benzeri bir yapıdaydı. En küçüğü olan concha nasalis caudalis’in arka sınırı burun boşluğunun olfactorik bölgesine yapışmakta ve cranial sınırı serbest, 3.2±0.15 mm yarıçapında bir yarımküreye benzemekteydi. This study aimed to observe the air sacs (Sacci pneumatici) in mature Mallard ducks (Anas platyrhynchos). After animals (n=9) were euthanased by combination of ketamine 60 mg/kg and xylazine 6 mg/kg, methylmethacrylate (Takilon) was injected by way of trachea. They were put in a cold-aired room for two months for polymerization. Then, they were maserated with 3% potassium hydroxide at 40 °C, cleaned with tap water, coloured by glass dye and photographed. Morphology of the cervical and clavicular air sacs was consistent with previous studies. The cranial thoracic air sacs were smaller than the caudal sacs pneumatising the second to seventh ribs by their diverticula. The caudal thoracic air sac had no diverticulum. The left abdominal air sac had two portions, i.e. the cranial and caudal sacs; the latter aerating the last three ribs and synsacrum, the former being smaller and narrower. Moreover, the right abdominal air sac was bigger than the left sac, Bu çalışma yeşil başlı ördekte (Anas platyrhynchos) hava keselerini (Sacci pneumatici) göstermeyi amaçladı. Hayvanlara (n=9) 60 mg/kg ketamin ve 6 mg/kg ksilazin bileşimi ile ötenazi uygulandıktan sonra, trakea yoluyla metilmetakrilat (Takilon) şırıngayla verildi. Polimerizasyon için soğuk hava odasında iki ay bekletildi. Takiben 40 ºC’de %3’lük potasyum hidroksitle masere edilerek akar su altında temizlendi, cam boyası ile her bir hava kesesi ayrı renklerle boyandı ve fotoğrafı çekildi. Servikal ve klavikular hava keselerinin morfolojisi önceki çalışmalarla uyum gösterdi. Divertikulum tarafından 2-7. kaburgaları havalandıran kranial torasik hava kesesi kaudal keselerden daha küçüktü. Kaudal torasik hava keselerinde divertikulum görülmedi. Sol abdominal hava kesesi kranial ve kaudal olmak üzere iki parçalıydı. Kaudal kısım son üç kaburga ve synsacrum’u havalandırdığı ve kranial keseden daha büyük ve geniş olduğu kayıt edildi. Ayrıca, sağ abdominal hava kesesi soldan daha büyük olduğu görüldü

49 özet Bu çalışmada merkebin görme duyusu organı ( organum visus ) makro-anatomik ve subgros olarak incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla Ankara yöresinden sağlanan 10 adet adult merkep kulla nılmıştır. Diseksiyon kısmen lup, kısmen de stereomikroskop altında gerçekleştirilmiştir. 1- Merkepte orbita ekseni ortalama 8 cm, iki orbita ekseni arasındaki açı ise 110 derece olarak bulunmuştur. 2- Palpebra superior' da ortalama 180 adet cilia vardır. Pal- pebra inferior' da ise cilia yoktur. 3- Merkepte palpebra inferior üzerinde ve çevresinde uzunluk ları 1 - 5 cm olan 5-25 adet pili tactiles yer alır. Pal pebra superior üzerinde ve çevresinde ise uzunlukları en fazla 3 cm ye ulaşabilen 1 - if adet pili tactiles bulunur. 4- 311. tarsal es 'in sayısı palpebra superior' da 4-0 - 50, pal pebra inferior »da ise 20 - J>0 adettir. 5- Merkepte plica semilunaris conjunctivae 'nm yapısına giren kıkırdak hyalin karakterdedir. Kıkırdağın üzerinde sadece seröz yapıda olan gl.superficialis bulunur. Gl.superfici- alis'in bulbus oculi'ye bakan yüzünden 4 - 5 adet akıtıcı kanal çıkar. S- Gl. lacrimalis ! in ağırlığı 2,6 - 3t7 gr, boyutları ise 4,5 X 3 cm dir. Akıtıcı kanallarının sayısı 18 - 24 adet arasında değişir. 7- Merkepte ductus nasolacrimalis 'in toplam uzunluğu 21 - 24 cm arasında değişir. Kanal burun deliğinin lateral duvarı üzerinde 2 - 3 mm çapındaki delikle sonlanır. 8- M.obliquus ven.tralis insertio çizgisinde makroskobik50 olarak kassel bir yapı gösterir. Insertio tendosu en geniş olan kas m. rectus dorsalis, en uzun ve dar olan kas ise m. obliquus dorsalis' dir. 9- Bulbus oculi'nin hacmi 35 cc, ağırlığı ise ortalama 37 $5 gr dır. Bulbus oculi'nin ekvatorda transversal çapı 4,6 cm, ekvatorda vertical çapı 4» 2 cm dir. Axis bulbi extermis 4,1 cm, axis bulbi internus 3,8 cm uzunluğundadır. 10- Tap e t um lucidum discus n.optici'nin 1 mm dorsal 'inden geç tiği varsayılan düzgün bir çizginin dorsal 'inde yer alır. Corpus ciliare'ye lateral 'de 8 mm, medial' de 5 mm, dorsal '- de ise 15 am kadar yaklaşır. 11- Merkepte corpus vitreum'un hacmi ortalama 24 cc dir. 12- Lens 'in çapı ortalama 1,8 cc, ağırlığı ise ortalama 2,3 gr dır. Axis lentis'in uzunluğu 1,2 cm dir. 51. Summary Organum visus was studied macro-anatomically and sub- grossly in donkeys. Ten adult donkeys were used as experimental animals. Disections were performed under the stereo-microscope and magnifying glass. 1- The average value of orbital axis was 8 cm and the angle between two orbital axis was found as 110 degrees. 2- There were, on the average 180 cilia in the palpebra supe rior. No cilia was detected in the palpebra inferior. 3- The number of pili tactiles on and around the palpebra in~ ferior were ranged from 5 to 25. Their lengths varied from 1 to 5 cm. On the other hand, there were one to four pili tactiles on palpebra superior. The length of pili tactiles were smaller than 3 cm. k- The number of gll.tarsales were ifO - 50 on palpebra supe rior and 20 - 30 on palpebra inferior. 5- The cartilage which is in the structure of plica semiluna ris conjunctivae is hyalin in nature. There is only serous gl. super ficialis on the cartilage. Four or five excretory ducts open out from the bulbar surface of the gl.superfici- cLLZLS. 6- The weight of gl. lacrimalis ranged from 2,6 to 3,7 gr and their sizes were l$,5 X 3 cm. The number of the excretory ducts were about 18 - 2if. 7- The total length of nasolacrimal duct varied from 21 to 2if cm. The duct was ended with orificium at about 2 - 3 mm in diamater, on the lateral wall of the nares.52 8- M.obliquus ventralis shows a macroscopically muscular struc ture at the line of insertio. M. rectus dorsalis has the widest tendon while m.obliquus dorsalis has the narrowest and the longest insertio tendon. 9- The volume of bulbus oculi was 35 nil and the weight was 37» 5 gr on the average. Transversal diameter and vertical diame ter of bulbus oculi in the equator were if, 6 cm and 4» 2 cm, respectively. The length of axis bulbi externus was 4,1 cm and the length of axis bulbi internus was 3» 8 cm. 10- Tapetum lucidum was localized dorsally of the imaginary straight line at about 1 mm dorsal part of discus n.optici. Its distence to corpus ciliare were 8 mm in the lateral side, 5 mm in the medial side and 15 mm in the dorsal side. 11- The mean volume of corpus vitreum was 22f ml. 12- The average diameter of the lens was 1,8 cm and the weight was 2,3 gr.
