To Verify the value of the ratio of sensory nerves conductive velocity along palm-median finger /wrist-palm minus 1 for diagnosis of the mild-moderate carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS).The different value between 1 and the ratio of sensory nerves conductive velocity along palm-median finger/wrist-palm was defined as index-CTS which was used to assess the severity of CTS.The index-CTS of 100 palms from healthy controls and 58 palms from mild-moderate CTS patients were calculated and compared.Multiple regression was used to identify the relative factors of index-CTS.The ROC curve was used to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of index-CTS at different values.The value of index-CTS from healthy controls and patients both fitted Gaussian distribution.The mean value were -0.053±0.042 vs 0.055±0.074 in the controls and the patients respectively.The difference was statistically significant between the two groups by T-test(P0.001). Multiple regression analysis showed that Tinel sign, Phalen sign, laterality, clinical grade, electrical grade were identifiable factors related to index-CTS.When index-CTS was over 0.001 and Ⅳ-DL over 0.395 ms , specificity of diagnosis by both can get 92%, but index-CTS showed more higher sensitivity(98.3% vs 89.7%).Rising index-CTS could be the most significant electrophysiological feature in CTS.It can be used as a sensitive marker to assess the extent of conduction block of median nerve in carpal tunnel.

Summary A novel method for separating and concentrating magnolol and honokiol from Magnoliae Cortex by solvent sublation and analysis of the compounds by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been established. The optimum conditions for solvent sublation were use of n-butanol as sublation solvent, sample solution at pH 2, nitrogen flow 50 mL min–1, and sublation time 50 min. The floating product obtained under the optimum conditions was determined by HPLC analysis on a C18 reversed-phase column, with 22:78 (%, v/v) water-methanol as isocratic mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.00 mL min–1. When the method was used for quantification of magnolol and honokiol in Magnoliae Cortex recovery ranged from 98.1 to 106.1%, RSD was from 3.07 to 4.80%, and LOD for honokiol and magnolol were 0.94 and 1.14 ng mL–1, respectively.

The Bakamjian-Thomas relativistic quark model for hadron current matrix elements, while non-covariant at finite mass, is successful in the heavy quark limit : form factors are covariant and satisfy Isgur-Wise scaling and Bjorken-Uraltsev sum rules. Motivated by the so-called "1/2 vs. 3/2 puzzle" in B decays to positive parity D**, we examine the implications of the model at finite mass. In the elastic case 1/2^- -> 1/2^-, the HQET constraints for the O(1/m_Q) corrections are analytically fulfilled. A number of satisfying regularities is also found for inelastic transitions. We compute the form factors using the wave functions given by the Godfrey-Isgur potential. For 1/2^- \to 3/2^+ the departures from the heavy quark limit are small, but we find a strong enhancement in 1/2^- -> 1/2^+ (for 0^- -> 0^+). This enhancement is linked to a serious difficulty of the model at finite mass for the inelastic transitions, namely a violation of the HQET constraints at zero recoil formulated by Leibovich et al. These are nevertheless satisfied in the non-relativistic limit for the light quark. We conclude that these HQET rigorous constraints are crucial in the construction of a sensible relativistic quark model of inelastic form factors.

A quasi-three-dimensional theoretical closed-form solution for a cylindrical inclusion embedded in an isotropic elastic plate of finite thickness is obtained using the Kane-Mindlin theory. The present solution gives an insight into the transition from plane stress to plane strain. It is shown that strong three-dimensional effects exist near the inclusion even in very thin plates. Moreover, it is shown that two-dimensional plane stress and plane strain solutions are not always the two limits for a three-dimensional problem. The effects of plate thickness and inclusion radius, material constants of the inclusion and the matrix, as well as interference fitting on the stress concentration factor are discussed. The three-dimensional affected zone around the inclusion can be determined from the present solution. The variation of the lateral contraction and shear stresses is discussed. The comparison between the finite element results and the present results shows good agreement.

Based on the design theory of the wind turbine, a turbine applied to solar chimney power plant with a vertical collector is designed, and the performance of the wind turbine is conducted by wind tunnel test. The results point out that the experimental performance is consistent with the designed performance. Then the number of blades and tip speed ratio are conducted, as well as we obtained the optimum blade number and tip speed ratio of turbine for the system.

Experimental investigation to the effects of thickness and material on mode II fracture were performed. Tension-shear specimens made of aluminium alloy LC4CS and 7050-T7452 with thicknesses of 2, 4, 8 and 14 mm were used. All crack tip appearances and fracture profiles of the specimens were observed. Mode II fracture toughness were calculated. It is shown that material and thickness play an important role in mode II fracture. The fracture of LC4CS appears shear fracture under all kinds of thicknesses, however the fracture of 7050-T7452 is tensile fracture when thickness is larger or equal to 8mm, and shear initiation along the original crack plane, then turnaround and tensile failure when thickness is smaller than 8mm. Mode II fracture toughness is independent of thickness.

We study the observed enhancement of a p (p) over bar system near the threshold in the process J/psi -> gamma p (p) over bar and e(+)e(-) -> p (p) over tilde. From early studies the enhancement can be explained by final state interactions, which are in general taken into account with some potential models. In this work, we offer a simple approach within quantum field theory to explain the observed enhancement. We point out that among different final state interactions the rescattering in a N (N) over bar system though exchange of pi is the most important. The effects of the rescattering is completely fixed by the well- known coupling g(pi NN). Our results show that the enhancement in J/psi -> gamma p (p) over bar and e(+)e(-) -> p (p) over bar can be well described with the rescattering effects.
