The observed scaling violations of the nucleon structure functionF 2 and $$\bar q$$ have been analysed in the framework of perturbative QCD to determine the shape and magnitude of the gluon distribution. The data are in good agreement with leading order QCD, and the simultaneous use ofF 2 and $$\bar q$$ structure functions permits, for the first time, a reliable determination of the gluon structure function.

The DØ experiment enjoyed a very successful data-collection run at the Fermilab Tevatron collider between 1992 and 1996. Since then, the detector has been upgraded to take advantage of improvements to the Tevatron and to enhance its physics capabilities. We describe the new elements of the detector, including the silicon microstrip tracker, central fiber tracker, solenoidal magnet, preshower detectors, forward muon detector, and forward proton detector. The uranium/liquid-argon calorimeters and central muon detector, remaining from Run I, are discussed briefly. We also present the associated electronics, triggering, and data acquisition systems, along with the design and implementation of software specific to DØ. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A partial-wave analysis of the reaction π − p → η η π − p at 18 GeV/c has been performed on a data sample of approximately 4000 events obtained by Brookhaven experiment E852. The J P C = 0 − + π ( 1800 ) state is observed in the a 0 ( 980 ) η and f 0 ( 1500 ) π decay modes. It has a mass of 1876 ± 18 ± 16 MeV / c 2 and a width of 221 ± 26 ± 38 MeV / c 2 . The J P C = 2 − + π 2 ( 1880 ) meson is observed decaying through a 2 ( 1320 ) η . It has a mass of 1929 ± 24 ± 18 MeV / c 2 and a width of 323 ± 87 ± 43 MeV / c 2 . Both states are potential candidates for non-exotic hybrid mesons.

The exclusive reaction π − p → η π 0 n , η → π + π − π 0 at 18 GeV / c has been studied with a partial wave analysis on a sample of 23 492 η π 0 n events from BNL experiment E852. A mass-dependent fit is consistent with a resonant hypothesis for the P + wave, thus providing evidence for a neutral exotic meson with J P C = 1 − + , a mass of 1257 ± 20 ± 25 MeV / c 2 , and a width of 354 ± 64 ± 60 MeV / c 2 . New interpretations of the meson exotics in neutral η π 0 system observed in E852 and Crystal Barrel experiments are discussed.

We describe the design, construction, and performance of the upgraded DO muon system for Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Significant improvements have been made to the major subsystems of the DO muon detector: trigger scintillation counters, tracking detectors, and electronics. The Run II central muon detector has a new scintillation counter system inside the iron toroid and an improved scintillation counter system outside the iron toroid. In the forward region, new scintillation counter and tracking systems have been installed. Extensive shielding has been added in the forward region. A large fraction of the muon system electronics is also new.

The status of spin-exotic mesons is reviewed. There is now compelling evidence for at least three π1 states between one and two GeV. Preliminary results from the reaction π−p → π+π+π−π−π0p show structure in the exotic waves corresponding to IGJPC = 0−2+−.

This Letter reports results from the partial wave analysis of the π−π−π+η final state in π−p collisions at 18 GeV /c . Strong evidence is observed for production of two mesons with exotic quantum numbers of spin, parity and charge conjugation, JPC=1−+ in the decay channel f1(1285)π−. The mass M=1709±24±41 MeV /c 2 and width Γ=403±80±115 MeV /c 2 of the first state are consistent with the parameters of the previously observed π1(1600). The second resonance with mass M=2001±30±92 MeV /c 2 and width Γ=333±52±49 MeV /c 2 agrees very well with predictions from theoretical models. In addition, the presence of π2(1900) is confirmed with mass M=2003±88±148 MeV /c 2 and width Γ=306±132±121 MeV /c 2 and a new state, a1(2096), is observed with mass M=2096±17±121 MeV /c 2 and width Γ=451±41±81 MeV /c 2 . The decay properties of these last two states are consistent with flux tube model predictions for hybrid mesons with non-exotic quantum numbers.

An amplitude analysis of an exclusive sample of 5765 events from the reaction {pi}{sup -}p{yields}{eta}{prime}{pi}{sup -}p at 18 GeV/c is described. The {eta}{prime}{pi}{sup -} production is dominated by natural parity exchange and by three partial waves: those with J{sup PC}=1{sup -+} , 2{sup ++} , and 4{sup ++} . A mass-dependent analysis of the partial-wave amplitudes indicates the production of the a{sub 2}(1320) meson as well as the a{sub 4}(2040) meson, observed for the first time decaying to {eta}{prime}{pi}{sup -} . The dominant, exotic (non-q{bar q}) 1{sup -+} partial wave is shown to be resonant with a mass of 1.597{+-}0.010{sup +0.045}{sub -0.010} GeV/c{sup 2} and a width of 0.340{+-}0.040{+-}0.050 GeV /c{sup 2} . This exotic state, the {pi}{sub 1}(1600) , is produced with a t dependence which is different from that of the a{sub 2}(1320) meson, indicating differences between the production mechanisms for the two states.

New measurements of peripheral meson production are presented. The data confirm the existence of exotic mesons at 1.4 and 1.6 GeV/c2. The latter state dominates the eta'pi- decay spectrum. The data on eta pi+pi-pi- decay show large strength in several exotic (Jpc = 1- +) waves as well.

A partial-wave analysis of the reaction ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$ at $18\mathrm{GeV}/c$ has been performed on a data sample of 250 000 events obtained by Brookhaven experiment E852. The expected ${J}^{\mathrm{PC}}{\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1}^{++}{a}_{1}(1260)$, ${2}^{++}{a}_{2}(1320)$, and ${2}^{\ensuremath{-}+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}_{2}(1670)$ resonant states are clearly observed. The exotic ${J}^{\mathrm{PC}}{\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1}^{\ensuremath{-}+}$ wave produced in the natural parity exchange processes shows distinct resonancelike phase motion at about $1.6\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$ in the $\ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\pi}$ channel. A mass-dependent fit results in a resonance mass of $1593\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{8}_{\ensuremath{-}47}^{+29}\mathrm{MeV}{/c}^{2}$ and a width of $168\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{20}_{\ensuremath{-}12}^{+150}\mathrm{MeV}{/c}^{2}$.

The {eta}{pi}{sup {minus}} system has been studied in the reaction {pi}{sup {minus}}p{r_arrow}{eta}{pi}{sup {minus}}p at 18 GeV/c. A large asymmetry in the angular distribution is observed indicating interference between L-even and L-odd partial waves. The a{sub 2}(1320) is observed in the J{sup PC}=2{sup ++} wave, as is a broad enhancement between 1.2 and 1.6 GeV/c{sup 2} in the 1{sup {minus}+} wave. The observed phase difference between these waves shows that there is phase motion in addition to that due to a{sub 2}(1320) decay. The data can be fitted by interference between the a{sub 2}(1320) and an exotic 1{sup {minus}+} resonance with M=(1370{plus_minus}16{sup +50}{sub {minus}30}) MeV/c{sup 2} and {Gamma}=(385{plus_minus}40 {sup +65}{sub {minus}105}) MeV/c{sup 2} . {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}

The design, construction, and performance of a 198-element CsI detector built for Brookhaven experiment E852 is described. Design considerations for the array included such factors as rate, magnetic field, sensitivity and acceptance. Signals were obtained with a photodiode/preamplifier combination using PIN photodiodes. Data were taken over the course of two runs during the summers of 1993 and 1994. A calibration procedure using halo muons is described. The gain, energy resolution, and position resolution of the detector are discussed. Finally, the ability of the detector to be used as a low energy photon veto is illustrated using the data.

A scintillation detector meeting specific physics requirements and geometrical constraints is described. It operates with high efficiency inside a 1 T magnet in an intense charged particle beam of up to 3 × 106 particles/s. It uses a unique light collection system combining air space, wavelength shifter disc and conventional lucite light guides. The detector is used in a veto mode to identify interactions that produce an all-neutral final state. The details of the counter's design, construction and performance are described.

We present a study of the decay {ital J}/{psi}{r arrow}{gamma}{eta}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup {minus}} using the Mark III detector at the SLAC {ital e}{sup +}{ital e{minus}} storage ring SPEAR. A partial-wave amplitude analysis is performed on the {eta}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup {minus}} system in the mass region from 1.2 to 1.5 GeV. We observe two {eta}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup {minus}} resonances, each decaying via {ital a}{sub 0}(980){pi}. We identify one as the axial-vector meson {ital f}{sub 1}(1285) and the other as a pseudoscalar resonance at 1.40 GeV.

We present an analysis of J ψ →γf 1 (1285) , f 1 (1285)→ π + π − π + π − , using the Mark III detector at SPEAR, based on 5.8 × 10 6 produced J ψ events. We measure B( J ψ →γf 1 (1285) , f 1 (1285)→ π + π − π + π − )=(4.8±1.3±0.9) × 10 −5 . We obtain a new measurement of the absolute branching ratio of J ψ →γf 1 (1285) . The mixing angle of the f 1 (1285) and the f 1 (1420) in the 1 ++ nonet is determined.

We determine the resonant substructure of D -> [...] decays using a five-dimensional maximum likelihood technique to extract the relative fractions and phases of the amplitudes contributing to the [...], [...], and [...] final states. We find that two-body decay modes account for about 75% of these decays. We obtain branching ratios for [...], [...], [...], [...], and [...] decay modes, as well as several three and four-body decay modes. In the case of [...] and [...], we obtain the branching ratios for all three possible isospin combinations, enabling us to extract the isospin 1/2 and 3/2 amplitudes. This allows us to eliminate the ambiguity due to phase shifts between the isospin amplitudes when comparing our results with theoretical models. We find that the isospin 3/2 amplitudes are suppressed relative to the isospin 1/2 amplitudes, confirming that an understanding of the lifetime difference of the D0 and D+ depends on an understanding of two-body hadronic decays. For the [...] decay modes, we obtain detailed information on the polarization of the [...] and [...]. This enables us to obtain information on form-factors for [...] and [...] transitions, within the context of the factorization hypothesis. Comparison of our results on [...] decays with recent results on semileptonic decays allows us to test the factorization hypothesis.

We report a high statistics study of the inclusive decay properties of the charmed D0 and D+ mesons, and the first inclusive study of the charmed Ds+. The data are collected at s =3.77 GeV and s =4.14 GeV with the Mark III detector at the e+e− storage ring SPEAR. For each charmed meson species, the charged-particle multiplicity, the strangeness content of the final state, and the average π0 multiplicity are determined.

We present the results of an amplitude analysis of the spin parity components as a function of mass of the ( K + K 0 π − ) system as produced in the reaction p p → (K + K 0 π − ) X . Two peaks are observed in the ( K + K 0 π − ) spectrum, one at (1279 ± 2) MeV/c 2 , and one at (1417 ± 3) Mev/c 2 with a width of (62 ± 5) Mev/c 2 . The amplitude analysis was performed in sixteen 20 MeV/c 2 mass intervals from 1.24 to 1.56 GeV/c 2 . The waves used for the fitting were J PG = 0 −+ , 1 ++ , 1 +− , and background.

We have performed a partial-wave analysis of the K + K O S π − system produced in the reaction K − p → K + K 0 S π − Λ / Σ at 8 GeV/c. We present results of a preliminary analysis of approximately 2000 events in the KKπ mass range 1.24–1.64 GeV, with 0.0 2 . In the 1.28 GeV mass region, we observe a small J PG = 0 −+ contribution but little indication of a 1 ++ wave. We observe a large enhancement of events at the threshold of KK ∗ production. Above this threshold the J PG = 1 +− , 1 ++ and 0 −+ waves all contribute, and we see evidence for a 1 +− resonance below the KK ∗ threshold.

A search for the U(3.1) resonance decaying into Λ pπ' s final states has been performed with negative results. The cross section upper limits are between 10 and 25 nanobarns. These cross sections are one or two order of magnitude lower than expected from previous results. Mass spectra of various final states are presented.

Absolute branching fractions for the {ital D}{sub {ital l}3} and {ital D}{sub {ital l}4} decays {ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}} {sup 0}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}}, {ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}} {sup 0}{mu}{sup +}{nu}{sub {mu}}, {ital D}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital {bar K}} {sup *0}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}}, and {ital D}{sup 0}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup *{minus}}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}} are determined using completely reconstructed {ital D{bar D}} events at the {psi}(3770). Reconstructed {ital D}{sup 0}{r arrow}{ital K}{sup {minus}}{ital e+}{nu}{sub {ital e}} decays are used to determine the pole mass of the {ital f}{sub 4}({ital q}{sup 2}) form factor. Resonant {ital K}{sup *} production dominates the process {ital D}{r arrow}{ital K}{pi}{ital e}{nu}; the {ital K}{sup *} polarization is measured. Limits on several Cabibbo-suppressed channels are evaluated. A global fit imposing isospin symmetry is performed to the measured exclusive and inclusive semileptonic {ital D}{sup 0} and {ital D}{sup +} branching fractions to obtain an improved set of branching fractions.

Results from a partial-wave analysis of the decay {ital J}/{psi}{r arrow}{gamma}{ital K}{sub {ital S}}{sup 0}{ital K{plus minus}}{pi}{sup {minus plus}} in the {ital K}{sub {ital S}}{sup 0}{ital K}{sup {plus minus}}{pi}{sup {minus plus}} invariant-mass range 1.35--1.6 GeV/{ital c}{sup 2} are presented. Within the isobar model, the data in this mass range are best described by a mixture of 0{sup {minus}+} and 1{sup ++} amplitudes, corresponding to the {ital K}{sup *}{ital {bar K}}+c.c ({ital P} wave), {ital K}{sup *}{ital {bar K}}+c.c ({ital S} wave), and {ital a}{sub 0}(980) {pi} ({ital S} wave) channels. These results show that {eta}(1430) is not a {ital J}{sup {ital P}{ital C}}=0{sup {minus}+} {ital a}{sub 0}(980){pi} resonance, but a mixture of overlapping states.

We determine the resonant substructure of ${\mathit{D}}^{0}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{K}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ decays using a five-dimensional maximum-likelihood technique to extract the relative fractions and phases of the amplitudes contributing to this final state. We have measured the analyzing power in {pi}{sup +}, {pi}{sup {minus}}, and {ital K}{sub {ital S}}{sup 0} production by a polarized proton beam at 13.3 and 18.5 GeV/{ital c}. The data cover the central and the beam fragmentation region, in the transverse-momentum range up to 2 GeV/{ital c}. The results indicate that sizable effects are present at high {ital x}{sub {ital F}} and also persist into the hard-scattering region for {ital K}{sub {ital S}}{sup 0} and {pi}{sup +}. A zero value of the analyzing power was observed for {pi}{sup {minus}} production.

A partial-wave analysis of the mesons from the reaction $\pi^{-}% p\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}\pi^{0}p$ has been performed. The data show $b_{1}\pi$ decay of the spin-exotic states $\pi_{1}(1600)$ and \ $\pi_{1}(2000)$. Three isovector $2^{-+}$ states were seen in the $\omega\rho^{-}$ decay channel. In addition to the well known $\pi_{2}(1670)$, signals were also observed for $\pi_{2}(1880)$ and $\pi_{2}(1970)$.

A partial-wave analysis of the reaction ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{p}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$ at $18 \mathrm{GeV}/c$ has been performed on a data sample of 250 000 events obtained in the Brookhaven experiment E852. The well-known ${a}_{1}(1260),$ ${a}_{2}(1320)$ and ${\ensuremath{\pi}}_{2}(1670)$ resonant states are observed. The existence of the $\ensuremath{\pi}(1800),$ ${a}_{1}(1700)$ and ${a}_{4}(2040)$ states is confirmed. The ${a}_{3}(1874)$ state is also observed. The exotic ${1}^{\ensuremath{-}+}$ ${\ensuremath{\pi}}_{1}(1600)$ state produced in the natural parity exchange process is found to decay in the $\ensuremath{\rho}(770){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ channel. A mass-dependent fit results in a resonance mass of $1593\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{8}_{\ensuremath{-}47}^{+29} \mathrm{MeV}{/c}^{2}$ and a width of $168\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{20}_{\ensuremath{-}12}^{+150} \mathrm{MeV}{/c}^{2}.$

A partial wave analysis of the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ system produced in the charge exchange reaction ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{p}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}n$ at an incident momentum of 18.3 $\mathrm{GeV}/c$ is presented as a function of the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ invariant mass ${m}_{{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}}$ and momentum transfer squared $|t|$ from the incident ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ to the outgoing ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ system. For small values of $|t|,$ the S-wave intensity shows a broad enhancement at low ${m}_{{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}}$ with a sharp dip in the vicinity of the ${f}_{0}(980).$ A dip is also observed in the vicinity of the ${f}_{0}(1500).$ There is a rapid variation of the S to ${D}_{0}$ relative phase difference in these mass regions. For large values of $|t|,$ the ${f}_{0}(980)$ appears as a bump. The ${f}_{2}(1270),$ observed in D waves, is produced dominantly by $\ensuremath{\pi}$ exchange at low values of $|t|$ and ${a}_{2}$ exchange at higher values of $|t|.$

- Abstract
An amplitude analysis of an exclusive sample of 5765 events from the reaction pi- p--eta'pi- p at 18 GeV/c is described. The eta'pi- production is dominated by natural parity exchange and by three partial waves: those with J(PC) = 1(-+), 2(++), and 4(++). A mass-dependent analysis of the partial-wave amplitudes indicates the production of the a2(1320) meson as well as the a4(2040) meson, observed for the first time decaying to eta'pi-. The dominant, exotic (non- qq) 1(-+) partial wave is shown to be resonant with a mass of 1.597+/-0.010(+0.045)(-0.010) GeV/c2 and a width of 0.340+/-0.040+/-0.050 GeV/c2. This exotic state, the pi1(1600), is produced with a t dependence which is different from that of the a2(1320) meson, indicating differences between the production mechanisms for the two states.

A partial-wave analysis of 9082 {eta}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}n events produced in the reaction {pi}{sup -}p{yields}{eta}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}n at 18.3 GeV/c has been carried out using data from experiment 852 at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The data are dominated by J{sup PC}=0{sup -+} partial waves consistent with observation of the {eta}(1295) and the {eta}(1440). The mass and width of the {eta}(1295) were determined to be 1282{+-}5 MeV and 66{+-}13 MeV, respectively, while the {eta}(1440) was observed with a mass of 1404{+-}6 MeV and a width of 80{+-}21 MeV. Other partial waves of importance include the 1{sup ++} and the 1{sup +-} waves. Results of the partial wave analysis are combined with results of other experiments to estimate f{sub 1}(1285) branching fractions. These values are considerably different from current values determined without the aid of amplitude analyses. (c) 2000 The American Physical Society.

Details of the analysis of the $\ensuremath{\eta}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ system studied in the reaction ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{p}\ensuremath{\eta}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$ at $18\mathrm{GeV}/c$ are given. Separate analyses for the 2\ensuremath{\gamma} and ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ decay modes of the \ensuremath{\eta} are presented. An amplitude analysis of the data indicates the presence of interference between the ${a}_{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}(1320)$ and a ${J}^{\mathrm{PC}}{=1}^{\ensuremath{-}+}$ wave between 1.2 and $1.6 \mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}.$ The phase difference between these waves shows a phase motion not attributable solely to the ${a}_{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}(1320).$ The data can be fitted by interference between the ${a}_{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}(1320)$ and an exotic ${1}^{\ensuremath{-}+}$ resonance with $M=(1370\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{16}_{\ensuremath{-}30}^{+50})\mathrm{MeV}{/c}^{2}$ and $\ensuremath{\Gamma}=(385\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{40}_{\ensuremath{-}105}^{+65})\mathrm{MeV}{/c}^{2}.$ Our results are compared with those of other experiments.

The Mark III Collaboration has measured the {ital J}/{psi} leptonic branching fractions using the process {psi}(2{ital S}){r arrow}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup {minus}}{ital J}/{psi}, {ital J}/{psi}{r arrow}{ital l}{sup +}{ital l{minus}}. The results are {ital B}({ital J}/{psi}{r arrow}{ital e}{sup +}{ital e{minus}})=(5.92{plus minus}0.15{plus minus}0.20)% and {ital B}({ital J}/{psi}{r arrow}{mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup {minus}})=(5.90{plus minus}0.15{plus minus}0.19)%, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. Assuming lepton universality, the leptonic branching fraction of the {ital J}/{psi} is (5.91{plus minus}0.11{plus minus}0.20)%. This result is used to obtain the strong coupling constant {alpha}{sub {ital s}} and the QCD scale factor {Lambda}{sub MS} (M{bar S} denotes the modified minimal-subtraction scheme).

Measurements of the semileptonic branching ratios of charmed D/sup +/ and D/sup 0/ mesons are presented, from data collected at the psi(3770) in the Mark III detector at SPEAR. From a sample of events kinematically selected as charmed D/sup +/D/sup -/ or D/sup 0/D /sup 0/ pairs, the branching ratios R(D/sup +/..-->..e/sup +/+X) = (17.0 +- 1.9 +- 0.7)% and R(D/sup 0/..-->..e/sup +/+X) = (7.5 +- 1.1 +- 0.4 )% are obtained. The ratio of these measurements can be interpreted as the ratio of D/sup +/ and D/sup 0/ lifetimes tau/sup +//tau/sup 0/ = 2.3/sub -0.4-0.1/ /sub +0.5+0.1/ by neglect of the contribution of Cabibbo-suppressed decays to the total decay width.

We report a new measurement of the D∗ branching ratios, using data obtained with the Mark III detector at the e^+e^− storage ring SPEAR at s=4.14GeV. A fit to the recoil mass squared spectrum of D mesons reconstructed through the decay modes K^−π^+π^+ and K^−π^+ is used to extract the D^(∗+) → γD^+, π^0D^+, π^+D^0 and D^(∗0) → γD^0, π^0D^0 branching ratios.

We present evidence for the radiative decay J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega} with a branching fraction of (1.76\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.09\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.45)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}3}$. The \ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega} invariant-mass distribution peaks at 1.8 GeV/${c}^{2}$, just above threshold. Analysis of angular correlations indicates that \ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega} system below 2 GeV/${c}^{2}$ is predominantly pseudoscalar. Upper limits are presented for the branching fractions of \ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega} decays of the \ensuremath{\theta}(1690), the ${g}_{T}$ states near 2.2 GeV/${c}^{2}$, and the ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}$.

The authors report on the analysis of inclusive neutral current events produced in neutrino and antineutrino narrow band beams. One finds for incident neutrino energies in the range 12-200 GeV and for hadron energies above 12 GeV a neutral charged current cross-section ratio of R/sub nu /=0.293+or-0.010 for incident neutrinos, and R/sub anti nu /=0.35+or-0.03 for antineutrinos. These ratios are consistent with the Weinberg-Salam model, with sin/sup 2/ theta /sub w/=0.24+or-0.02. (6 refs).
