The 2016 Warwick Agreement on femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) syndrome was convened to build an international, multidisciplinary consensus on the diagnosis and management of patients with FAI syndrome. 22 panel members and 1 patient from 9 countries and 5 different specialties participated in a 1-day consensus meeting on 29 June 2016. Prior to the meeting, 6 questions were agreed on, and recent relevant systematic reviews and seminal literature were circulated. Panel members gave presentations on the topics of the agreed questions atSports Hip 2016, an open meeting held in the UK on 27–29 June. Presentations were followed by open discussion. At the 1-day consensus meeting, panel members developed statements in response to each question through open discussion; members then scored their level of agreement with each response on a scale of 0–10. Substantial agreement (range 9.5–10) was reached for each of the 6 consensus questions, and the associated terminology was agreed on. The term ‘femoroacetabular impingement syndrome’ was introduced to reflect the central role of patients' symptoms in the disorder. To reach a diagnosis, patients should have appropriate symptoms, positive clinical signs and imaging findings. Suitable treatments are conservative care, rehabilitation, and arthroscopic or open surgery. Current understanding of prognosis and topics for future research were discussed. The ‘H2O’ swimming slogan illustrates the life of the competitive swimmer as one that is driven by devotion and passion. For the aquatic team physician, this slogan begs the questions: What exactly do we know about the adaptations of the swimmer's heart to the years of endurance training? How is the elite swimmer's heart different to population norms? What else should we be doing to preserve the swimmer's health (figure 1)? Figure 1 Competitive swimming. Injury and illness surveillance in the aquatic disciplines has been conducted during the FINA World Championships and Olympic Games. The development of an aquatic-specific injury and illness surveillance system will improve the quality of the data collected and the development of preventive measures. Our ultimate objective is to enhance aquatic athlete health and performance.The objective was to refine the injury and illness surveillance protocols to develop aquatic-specific definitions of injury and illness; define aquatic-specific injury location and causation; better describe overuse injuries; regard pre-existing and recurrent injuries; more accurately define aquatic athlete exposures and develop a protocol to capture out-of-competition aquatic athlete health parameters.FINA compiled an Injury and Illness Surveillance Expert Working Group comprised of international experts to review the scientific literature in the field. A consensus meeting was convened to provide an opportunity for debate, following which recommendations were collated.Aquatic-specific injury and illness surveillance protocols covering both the in-competition and out-of-competition time periods were developed. Definitions for all relevant variables were outlined, and documentation forms for athletes and for clinicians were proposed. Recommendations for the implementation of an injury and illness surveillance system for FINA are presented.The FINA consensus authors recommend ongoing in-competition and out-of-competition surveillance to determine injury and illness trends over time. The implementation of the definitions and methodology outlined in this paper will improve the accuracy and value of injury and illness surveillance, and provide important information for injury prevention.

Doping in sport, particularly in track and field, is a reality.1 ,2 The WADA condemned a rife doping culture in Russian Athletics implicating athletes, coaches, doctors, managers, federations and even the Russian minister of sport.1 The prevalence of blood doping ranged from 1% to 48% for subpopulation samples (country, endurance, non-endurance) of a blood-testing programme by the international governing body for athletics (IAAF).3 In a study on Doping in Elite Sports Assessed by Randomized-Response Surveys, the prevalence of reported past-year doping was 29% at the 13th IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Daegu, South Korea, and 45% at the 12th Quadrennial Pan-Arab Games in Doha, Qatar.2 WADA published a list of 113 coaches, physicians and other support staff, guilty of violating anti-doping rules—athletes are not allowed to associate with any of these individuals.4 How easy is it then for athletes to beat the system? A series of 2-(trimethylstannyl)pyrroles 3, with substituents at the 3- and 4-positions, is synthesized efficiently by a base-induced reaction of stannylated TosMIC with Michael acceptors. Stille cross-couplings with bromobenzene and double cross-couplings with 1,4-dibromobenzene have been achieved successfully with the N-methyl derivative (5a) and the N-Boc derivative (6a) of 3-benzoyl-2-(trimethylstannyl)-4-phenylpyrrole (3a), despite the bulk of these stannylpyrroles. Homo-coupling reactions of the same stannylpyrroles with the corresponding bromopyrroles (prepared from stannylpyrroles 3 and NBS) were unsuccessful, probably for steric reasons.

The structure of the title compound, tert-butyl 3-benzoyl-4-phenyl-2- (trimethylstannyl)pyrrole-N-carboxylate, [Sn(CH3)(3)(C22H20NO3)], is one of the first in which the stannyl group is attached to a C atom of the pyrrole ring, There appears to be an intramolecular interaction between the Sn atom and the carbonyl O atoms of both the benzoyl and the tert-butoxycarbonyl substituents. The compound was prepared by a base-induced cycloaddition of a stannylated derivative of tosylmethyl isocyanide to chalcone.
