Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess how self-compassion affects the psychological well-being of radiographers at work. Methods: An online survey was sent to radiology and radiotherapy departments in Rhône-Alpes, a region of France (from October 2021 to February 2022). The study is mixed: quantitative data, with closed questions and two validated scales, and qualitative data, with open questions aimed at assessing perceptions among radiologists as regards self-compassion. Results: A total of 253 radiographers (mean age 32.9 years), took part in this survey. Radiographers reported a poor level of well-being and a moderate level of self-compassion. We found a link between well-being at work and self-compassion. Gender, age, number of years of experience and the desire to receive training on well-being appear to have an impact on the level of self-compassion. The perception of self-compassion by radiologists is essentially positive. Conclusion: Particular attention should be paid to radiologists who are female, young, and with only a few years of experience. Self-compassion is a protective factor for radiologists and may help them take care of themselves to continue caring for others. Abstract

International audience; Paleorecords are replete with examples of longterm biotic responses to past climate change, and disturbances such as fire, herbivores, insect outbreaks or ice storms. The now frequent challenges in palaeoecological studies are to better understand both the trends and the breaking points of biotic variables in response to disturbances. The aim of this article is to expand the capacity of new and existing methods to provide greater insight into ecosystem trajectories and functioning.Our analyses focus on biomes where fire is a key structural disturbance for vegetation establishment and evolution. We aim to determine: 1)explanative variances between biotic and abiotic variables at both short and millennial time scales, and 2) whether a temporal relationship exists between fire regimes and plant diversity change in both systems.Our statistical approach focused on PCA (Principal Component Analysis), co-inertia, MFA (Multiple Factor Analysis) and Hill & Smith methods, which provide us new information about our data, and bring new conclusions to the former studies.We advise to preferentially use the MFA when the environmental variables are numerous, while the co-inertia is a better tool to explain variance of the datasets.

Abstract

Scarce data investigate the impact of radiotherapy (RT) on biology markers. An analysis of ancillary study of RIT (Radiation Impact on Thromboembolic events) prospective trial was carried out. All patients with non-metastatic solid tumors and treated with radiotherapy and/or brachytherapy in curative and consenting to have blood samples were included. A significant decrease in white blood count, (i.e. lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils and basophils) and platelet counts was observed after RT and maintained at 6 months. Whereas, eosinophils, D-dimers and hemoglobin levels were affected respectively 3 months and 6 months after RT initiation. Conversely, red cells count and CRP level were not affected by RT. This study is an advocacy to develop an understanding of basic immune system in relation with RT. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
