Abstract Background The effects of low temperatures on parasitic wasps are crucial for maintaining farmland biodiversity and enhancing biological control, especially given the implications of global warming and frequent extreme cold events. Methods We studied the effects of different low temperatures (−8 ± 1 °C, −4 ± 1 °C, 0 ± 1 °C, 4 ± 1 °C, and 8 ± 1 °C) on the mating frequency and duration of male adults of Trichopria drosophilae and the number of pupae beaten by female adults, and constructed the age–stage two-sex life table of T. drosophilae. Results This study found that male T. drosophilae adults exposed to low temperatures for 12 h significantly altered their mating behavior, peaking between 15:00 and 17:00. As the temperature dropped during the exposure, both the mating frequency of T. drosophilae and the duration of pupal beating were affected. The survival rate of female adults dropped from 39.55% at 8 °C to just 21.17% at −8 °C. Low-temperature treatment shortened the development period and lifespan for T. drosophilae adults. They developed 4.71 days faster and had a total lifespan that was 10.66 days shorter than those in the control group after being exposed to −8 °C. Furthermore, the average number of eggs laid by females at −8 °C was 4.46 less than that at 8 °C and 6.16 less than that in the control group, which laid an average of 21.55 eggs. The net reproductive rate (R 0) of T. drosophilae decreased with lower temperatures, reaching a low of 23.64 at −8 °C. Conversely, the intrinsic growth rate (r m) actually increased as temperatures dropped, with the lowest value being 0.21 at −8 °C. Conclusions The findings indicate that short-term exposure to low temperatures hampers the growth and population increase of T. drosophilae, thereby reducing their effectiveness as biological control agents. Abstract Goatpoxvirus (GTPV), sheeppoxvius (SPPV), and the Lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV) is a Capripoxvirus belonging to the family poxviridae. They can cause significant economic losses in countries where this disease are endemic. However, effective and convenient diagnostic tools against sera antibody are not readily available until now. Toward this goal, a polyclonal antibody competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (c-ELISA) of detecting serogroup-specific antibody is established based on major LSDV antigen A33. Serum samples (n = 605) were collected to optimize the c-ELISA from different areas. The cut-off value for the c-ELISA was estimate using percent inhibition (PI) values. The diagnostic performance of test including sensitivity (sn) and specificity (sp) were obtained by receiver operator characteristic (ROC) analysis. Among these analysis, > 57.61% PI value was accepted as cut-off of the c-ELISA, the diagnostic sn an diagnostic sp were reached to 96.4% and 98.5%, at > 95% confidence interval. These results show that the developed competitive ELISA is sensitive, specific, and reliable, which make it appropriate for serological investigation.

Since lithium sulfur (Li-S) energy storage devices are anticipated to power portable gadgets and electric vehicles owing to their high energy density (2600 Wh·kg–1); nevertheless, their usefulness is constrained by sluggish sulfur reaction kinetics and soluble lithium polysulfide (LPS) shuttling effects. High electrically conductive bifunctional electrocatalysts are urgently needed for Li-S batteries, and high-entropy oxide (HEO) is one of the most promising electrocatalysts. In this work, we synthesize titanium-containing high entropy oxide (Ti-HEO) (TiFeNiCoMg)O with enhanced electrical conductivity through calcining metal-organic frameworks (MOF) templates at modest temperatures. The resulting single-phase Ti-HEO with high conductivity could facilitate chemical immobilization and rapid bidirectional conversion of LPS. As a result, the Ti-HEO/S/KB cathode (with 70 wt.% of sulfur) achieves an initial discharge capacity as high as ~1375 mAh·g–1 at 0.1 C, and a low-capacity fade rate of 0.056% per cycle over 1000 cycles at 0.5 C. With increased sulfur loading (~5.0 mg·cm–2), the typical Li-S cell delivered a high initial discharge capacity of ~607 mAh·g–1 at 0.2 C and showcased good cycling stability. This work provides better insight into the synthesis of catalytic Ti-containing HEOs with enhanced electrical conductivity, which are effective in simultaneously enhancing the LPS-conversion kinetics and reducing the LPS shuttling effect.

The prognosis for gallbladder adenocarcinoma (GBAC), a highly malignant cancer, is not good. In order to facilitate individualized risk stratification and improve clinical decision-making, this study set out to create and validate a machine learning model that could accurately predict early survival outcomes in GBAC patients. Five models—RSF, Cox regression, GBM, XGBoost, and Deepsurv—were compared using data from the SEER database (2010–2020). The dataset was divided into training (70 %) and validation (30 %) sets, and the C-index, ROC curves, calibration curves, and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to assess the model's performance. At 1, 2, and 3-year survival intervals, the RSF model performed better than the others in terms of calibration, discrimination, and clinical net benefit. The most important predictor of survival, according to SHAP analysis, is AJCC stage. Patients were divided into high, medium, and low-risk groups according to RSF-derived risk scores, which revealed notable variations in survival results. These results demonstrate the RSF model's potential as an early survival prediction tool for GBAC patients, which could enhance individualized treatment and decision-making.

ABSTRACT Cryptococcus neoformans is an environmentally acquired fungal pathogen that causes over 140,000 deaths per year. Cryptococcal infection occurs when infectious particles are deposited into the lung, where they encounter host phagocytic cells. C. neoformans may be engulfed by these phagocytes, an important step of infection that leads to outcomes ranging from termination of infection to cryptococcal dissemination. To study this critical process, we screened approximately 4,700 cryptococcal gene deletion mutants for altered uptake, using primary mouse and human phagocytic cells. Among the hits of these two screens, we identified 93 mutants with perturbed uptake in both systems, as well as others with differences in uptake by only one cell type. We further screened the hits for changes in thickness of the capsule, a protective polysaccharide layer around the cell which is an important cryptococcal virulence factor. The combination of our three screens yielded 45 mutants, including one lacking the phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate phosphatase Sac1. In this work, we implicate Sac1 in both host cell uptake and capsule production. We found that sac1 mutants exhibit lipid trafficking defects, reductions in secretory system function, and changes in capsule size and composition. Many of these changes occur specifically in tissue culture media, highlighting the role of Sac1 phosphatase activity in responding to the stress of host-like conditions. Overall, these findings show how genome-scale screening can identify cellular factors that contribute to our understanding of cryptococcal biology and demonstrate the role of Sac1 in determining fungal virulence.IMPORTANCECryptococcus neoformans is a fungal pathogen with significant impact on global health. Cryptococcal cells inhaled from the environment are deposited into the lungs, where they first contact the human immune system. The interaction between C. neoformans and host cells is critical because this step of infection can determine whether the fungal cells die or proliferate within the human host. Despite the importance of this stage of infection, we have limited knowledge of cryptococcal factors that influence its outcome. In this study, we identify cryptococcal genes that affect uptake by both human and mouse cells. We also identify mutants with altered capsule, a protective coating that surrounds the cells to shield them from the host immune system. Finally, we characterize the role of one gene, SAC1, in these processes. Overall, this study contributes to our understanding of how C. neoformans interacts with and protects itself from host cells.

BackgroundTo investigate the causal relationship between major depression and functional dyspepsia using two-sample Mendelian randomization.MethodsData for major depression and functional dyspepsia were obtained from genome-wide association studies. We selected Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) strongly associated with severe depression. Mendelian randomization analysis was conducted using methods such as Inverse-Variance Weighted (IVW), MR-Egger, and Weighted Median Estimator (WME). Sensitivity analysis was performed to assess the robustness of the results.ResultsA total of 31 eligible SNPs were identified as instrumental variables for major depression. IVW analysis indicated a positive causal relationship between the two conditions (β = 0.328; SE = 0.137; p = 0.017), suggesting that severe depression increases the risk of functional dyspepsia (OR = 1.389; 95% CI: 1.062–1.816). Sensitivity tests showed no evidence of heterogeneity or horizontal pleiotropy (p > 0.05).ConclusionMR analysis had shown that major depressive disorder is associated with an increased risk of functional dyspepsia.

BackgroundHealth care workers (HCWs) frequently face multiple stressors at work, particularly those working night shifts. HCWs who have experienced distress may find it difficult to adopt stress management approaches, even if they are aware of the effects of stress and coping processes. Therefore, an individualized intervention may be required to assist distressed HCWs in bridging the “knowledge-practice” gap in stress management and effectively alleviating stress symptoms. ObjectiveThe main objective of this research was to compare the effects of a complex interactive multimodal intervention (CIMI) to self-guided stress management interventions on stress symptoms of distressed HCWs, as measured by physiological (heart rate variability), psychological (perceived stress, mental distress, and subjective happiness), and sleep disorder (fatigue and sleepiness) indicators. MethodsWe conducted a nonrandomized, controlled study in 2 Chinese general hospitals. The participants in this study were 245 HCWs who fulfilled at least 1 of the 3 dimensions on the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale. All eligible individuals were required to complete a questionnaire and wear a 24-hour Holter device to determine the physiological signs of stress as indexed by heart rate variability at both baseline and after the intervention. The CIMI group received a 12-week online intervention with 4 components—mobile stress management instruction, a web-based WeChat social network, personalized feedback, and a nurse coach, whereas the control group simply received a self-guided intervention. Abstract Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia worldwide, with recent studies highlighting the potential role of immunogenic cell death (ICD) in the pathogenesis of this neurodegenerative disorder. A total of 52 healthy controls and 64 patients with AD were included. Compared to the controls, the patients with AD exhibited 2392 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), of which 1015 and 1377 were upregulated and downregulated genes, respectively. Among them, nine common genes were identified by intersecting the AD-related module genes with the DEGs and ICD-associated genes. Gene ontology (GO)analysis further revealed “positive regulation of cytokine production” as the most significant term. Moreover, the enriched molecular functions were primarily related to the inflammatory body complex, while the overlapping genes were significantly enriched in lipopolysaccharide binding. Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) analysis also indicated that these overlapping genes were mainly enriched in immunity, inflammation, and lipid metabolism pathways. Furthermore, the following four hub genes were detected using machine learning algorithms: P2RX7, HSP90AA1, NT5E, and NLRP3. These genes demonstrated significant differences in expression between the AD and healthy control groups (P 0.7, indicating their potential diagnostic value for AD. We further validated the protein levels of these four genes in the hippocampus of 3xTg-AD and C57BL/6J mice, showing P2RX7 and HSP90AA1 expression levels consistent with the previously analyzed trends. Finally, the single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) algorithm provided additional evidence by demonstrating the crucial role of immune cell infiltration and its link with the hub genes in AD progression. Our study results suggest that ICD-mediated elevation of HSP90AA1 and P2RX7 levels and the resulting induction of tau hyperphosphorylation and neuroinflammation are vital in the AD pathogenic mechanism.

Abstract Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is associated with an irregular serine metabolism. Serine hydroxymethyltransferase 2 (SHMT2) is a liver enzyme that breaks down serine into glycine and one-carbon (1C) units critical for liver methylation reactions and overall health. However, the contribution of SHMT2 to hepatic 1C homeostasis and biological functions has yet to be defined in genetically modified animal models. We created a mouse strain with targeted SHMT2 knockout in hepatocytes to investigate this. The absence of SHMT2 increased serine and glycine levels in circulation, decreased liver methylation potential, and increased susceptibility to fatty liver disease. Interestingly, SHMT2-deficient mice developed simultaneous fatty liver, but when fed a diet high in fat, fructose, and cholesterol, they had significantly less inflammation and fibrosis. This study highlights the critical role of SHMT2 in maintaining hepatic 1C homeostasis and its stage-specific functions in the pathogenesis of NAFLD.

Abstract Background Vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) is a typical non-segmented negative-sense RNA virus of the genus Vesiculovirus in the family Rhabdoviridae. VSV can infect a wide range of animals, including humans, with oral blister epithelial lesions. VSV is an excellent model virus with a wide range of applications as a molecular tool, a vaccine vector, and an oncolytic vector. To further understand the interaction between VSV and host cells and to provide a theoretical basis for the application prospects of VSV, we analyzed the expression of host differentially expressed genes (DEGs) during VSV infection using RNA-Seq. Results Our analyses found a total of 1015 differentially expressed mRNAs and 161 differentially expressed LncRNAs in BHK-21 cells infected with VSV for 24 h compared with controls. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment showed that the differentially expressed lncRNAs and their target genes were mainly concentrated in pathways related to apoptosis, cancer, disease, and immune system activation, including the TNF, P53, MAPK, and NF-kappaB signaling pathways. The differentially expressed lncRNA can modulate immune processes by regulating genes involved in these signaling transmissions. Ten randomly selected DEGs, namely, Il12rb2, F2, Masp2, Mcl1, FGF18, Ripk1, Fas, BMF, POLK, and JAG1, were validated using RT-qPCR. As predicted through RNA-Seq analysis, these DEGs underwent either up- or downregulation, suggesting that they may play key regulatory roles in the pathways mentioned previously. Conclusions Our study showed that VSV infection alters the host metabolic network and activates immune-related pathways, such as MAPK and TNF. The above findings provide unique insights for further study of the mechanism of VSV–host interactions and, more importantly, provide a theoretical basis for VSV as an excellent vaccine carrier.

Background: Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) is still the only treatment that may affect the natural cause of allergic disease. This study is to investigate whether an accelerated up-dosing scheme for subcutaneous allergen immunotherapy (SCIT) using a native house dust mite (HDM) allergen extract is as safe as the standard 3-strengths dose-escalation scheme in children with moderate to severe allergic rhinitis or rhinoconjunctivitis with or without asthma in China. Methods: In this multicenter, open label, randomized controlled trial, the children aged 5–14 years were randomized 1:1 either to One Strength group or the Standard group. The dose escalation scheme for patients in the One Strength group included 6 injections of strength 3, whereas the Standard group comprised 14 injections using strength 1, 2, and 3. All treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) were recorded and analyzed. The 5-point Likert scale was used to assess tolerability (ChiCTR2100050311). Results: Overall, 101 children were included in the Safety Set (One Strength group: 50 vs. Standard group: 51). A total of 26 TEAEs were reported for 15 children. TEAEs related to AIT occurred in 10 % of the children in the One Strength group and 11.8 % of the Standard group. The number of systemic adverse reactions was comparable in both groups (One Strength: 5 vs. Standard: 4). No serious TEAEs was recorded for either group. 90.0 % of patients in the One Strength group reached the maintenance dose without an interventional dose adjustment due to adverse events, compared to 78.4 % in the Standard group. All patients who completed the dose-escalation phase reached the recommended maintenance dose of 1.0 ml of strength 3.Investigators and patients rated the tolerability of the One Strength regimen slightly better than the Standard scheme. Conclusions: This exploratory study suggests that the accelerated One Strength dose-escalation scheme is comparable in safety and tolerability to the Standard regimen. However, due to the preliminary nature and small sample size, further research with larger sample sizes and robust study designs is necessary for confirmation.

Insecticides are an indispensable and important tool for agricultural production. However, the inappropriate application of insecticides can cause damage to the food chain and ecosystem. Orius similis is an important predatory and natural enemy of Frankliniella occidentalis. Imidacloprid is widely used to control pests, but will inevitably exert adverse effects on O. similis. In order to determine the effect of different imidacloprid treatments on the ability of O. similis to prey on the 2nd-instar nymphs of F. occidentalis, we determined the toxicity and predation of imidacloprid on different stages of O. similis under contact and ingestion treatments. In addition, we used the Holling disc equation to evaluate the ability of O. similis to search and exhibit predatory activity following contact and ingestion treatments. Analysis showed that the highest LC10 and LC20 values for imidacloprid contact and ingestion toxicity treatment were 17.06 mg/L and 23.74 mg/L, respectively. Both imidacloprid treatments led toa reduction in the predatory of O. similis on prey. The functional responses of the 3rd to 5th instar nymphs, along with female and male O. similis adults to the 2nd-instar nymphs of F. occidentalis were consistent with the Holling type II response following contact and ingestion with imidacloprid. However, following imidacloprid treatment, the handing time (Th) of O. similis with single F. occidentalis was prolonged and the instantaneous attack rate (a) was reduced after imidacloprid treatment. The predatory capacity (a/Th) of female O. similis adults when treated with the LC10 concentration of imidacloprid by ingestion was 52.85; this was lower than that of the LC10 concentration of imidacloprid in the contact treatment (57.67). The extent of predation of O. similis on the 2nd-instar nymphs of F. occidentalis was positively correlated with prey density, although the search effect was negatively correlated with prey density. The most extensive search effect was exhibited by adult O. similis females. Simulations with the Hessell-Varley interference model showed that an increase in the number of O. similis would reduce search efficiency regardless of whether they were treated with imidacloprid or not. Thus, O. similis, especially female adults, exhibited strong potential for controlling the 2nd-instar nymphs of F. occidentalis. The toxicity of ingestion following treatment with the same concentration of imidacloprid in O. similis was greater than that of contact treatment. When using O. similis to control F. occidentalis in the field, we should increase the number of female adults released, and prolong the interval between imidacloprid treatment and O. similis exposure. This strategy will improve the control ability of O. similis, coordinate both chemical and biological control, reduce the impact of pesticides on the environment, and improve the efficiency of agricultural production.

In plants, WRKY transcription factors play a crucial role in plant growth, development, and response to abiotic and biotic stress. Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) is an important legume crop. However, cowpea Fusarium wilt (CFW), caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. tracheiphilum (Fot), poses a serious threat to its production. In this study, we systematically identified members of the cowpea WRKY (VuWRKY) gene family and analyzed their expression patterns under CFW stress. A total of 91 WRKY transcription factors were identified in the cowpea genome. Phylogenetic and synteny analyses indicated that the expansion of VuWRKY genes in cowpea is primarily due to recent duplication events. Transcriptome analysis of cowpea inoculated with Fo revealed 31 differentially expressed VuWRKY genes, underscoring their role in the response to CFW infection. Four differentially expressed WRKY genes were selected for validation. Subcellular localization and Western blot assays showed their nuclear localization and normal expression in N. benthamiana. Additionally, yeast one-hybrid assays demonstrated that VuWRKY2 can bind to the promoter region of the Catalase (CAT) gene, indicating its potential role in transcriptional regulation. This study establishes a foundation for further exploration of the role and regulatory mechanisms of VuWRKY genes in response to CFW stress.

Abstract Along with the demand for further miniaturization of high and pulsed power devices, it becomes more and more important to realize ultrahigh recoverable energy storage density (Wrec) with high energy storage efficiency (η) and ultrahigh discharge energy storage density (Wd) accompanied by high power density (Pd) in dielectrics. To date, it remains, however, a big challenge to achieve high Wrec or Wd in glass ceramics compared to other dielectric energy storage materials. Herein, a strategy of defect formation modulation is applied to form “amorphous‐disordered‐ordered” microstructure in BaTiO3‐based glass ceramics so as to achieve a high Wrec of 12.04 J cm−3 with a high η of 81.1% and an ultrahigh Wd of 11.98 J cm−3 with a superb Pd of 973 MW cm−3. This work demonstrates a feasible route to obtain glass ceramics with an outstanding energy storage performance and proves the enormous potential of glass ceramics in high and pulsed power applications.

Lightweight and low-cost one-dimensional carbon materials, especially biomass carbon fibers with multiple porous structures, have received wide attention in the field of electromagnetic wave absorption. In this paper, graphene-coated N-doped porous carbon nanofibers (PCNF) with excellent wave absorption properties were successfully synthesized via electrostatic spinning, electrostatic self-assembly, and high-temperature carbonization. The obtained results showed that the minimum reflection loss of the absorbing carbon fiber obtained under the carbonization condition of 800 °C is −51.047 dB, and the absorption bandwidth of reflection loss below −20 dB is 10.16 GHz. This work shows that carbonization temperature and filler content have a certain effect on the wave-absorbing properties of fiber, graphene with nanofiber, and the design and preparation of high-performance absorbing materials by combining the characteristics of graphene and nanofibers and multi-component coupling to provide new ideas for the research of absorbing materials.

Background: Severe neurological condition like Alzheimer’s disease (AD) has a significantly negative impact on families and society, wherein there is no proven cure. As one of the principal active constituents of Achyranthes bidentata Blume, ecdysterone (ECR) has demonstrated antioxidant and cognitive dysfunction improvement effects. Nonetheless, the mechanism underlying the improvement of cognitive dysfunction by ECR remains unclear. This study sought to ascertain whether ECR may allebviate cognitive impairment by reducing oxidative stress via activation of the nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor-2 (Nrf2) antioxidant system through Akt/GSK3β pathway. Methods: In terms of the experimental procedure, we determined the neuroprotective benefits of ECR in vivo via a cognitive impairment model of senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8 (SAMP8), we performed procedures such as behavioral testing, biochemical assaying, Nissl and TUNEL stainings, as well as flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and western blotting. Furthermore, we investigated the underlying mechanistic action of ECR by activating PC12 cells with β-amyloid peptide fragment 25-35 (Aβ25-35). Results: In vivo studies showed that ECR effectively improved cognitive impairment in SAMP8 via enhancement of learning and memory capabilities, but decreased oxidative stress, apoptosis and neuronal damage in the hippocampus. During the in vitro study, we observed that ECR dose-dependently reduced the oxidative stress and apoptosis that were induced in PC12 cells by Aβ25-35. Additionally, the use of Akt inhibitors further established the potential of ECR to control Nrf2 through activation of the Akt/GSK3β pathway and protect the PC12 cells from Aβ25-35 induced damage. Conclusions: These findings offer proof that ECR reduces cognitive impairment by triggering the Nrf2 antioxidant system via the Akt/GSK3β pathway and offer fresh information on ECR’s potential as a promising therapeutic development candidate for AD.

Abstract A modeling method of CNC machine tools’ spatial geometric error is proposed based on two-dimensional angle error in this paper. Different from traditional modeling method, this method takes into account the effect of additional angle errors because the machine tool’s angle errors in the system of the lower guide rail will be passed on to slip board structure to the upper guide rail system. Firstly, after analyzing the principle of two-dimensional angle error, an optimized error compensation model of CNC machine tools’ spatial geometric error contains two-dimensional angle error is established through the traditional homogeneous coordinate transformation matrix method (HTM). Further, by applying the experiment, the compensation effect of the model is verified through comparing the body diagonal errors of CNC machine tools before and after compensation. Experiment results show that the body-diagonal accuracy after compensation based on the optimized model is 87.73% higher than that before compensation, and 54.82% higher than that of the traditional model after compensation. Article Highlights The highlight of the study reported here is threefold: Firstly, the principle of two-dimensional angle error is analyzed. Secondly, an optimized spatial geometric error compensation model of CNC machine tool is established based on the principle of two-dimensional angle error. Thirdly, the compensation effect of the optimized compensation model is verified by comparing the bodies diagonal precision of the machine tool.

Abstract Poststroke depression (PSD) is a common complication of stroke. Brain network disruptions caused by stroke are potential biological determinants of PSD but their conclusive roles are unavailable. Our study aimed to identify the strategic structural disconnection (SDC) pattern for PSD at three months poststroke and assess the predictive value of SDC information. Our prospective cohort of 697 first-ever acute ischemic stroke patients were recruited from three hospitals in central China. Sociodemographic, clinical, psychological and neuroimaging data were collected at baseline and depression status was assessed at three months poststroke. Voxel-based disconnection-symptom mapping found that SDCs involving bilateral temporal white matter and posterior corpus callosum, as well as white matter next to bilateral prefrontal cortex and posterior parietal cortex, were associated with PSD. This PSD-specific SDC pattern was used to derive SDC scores for all participants. SDC score was an independent predictor of PSD after adjusting for all imaging and clinical-sociodemographic-psychological covariates (odds ratio, 1.25; 95% confidence interval, 1.07, 1.48; P = 0.006). Split-half replication showed the stability and generalizability of above results. When added to the clinical-sociodemographic-psychological prediction model, SDC score significantly improved the model performance and ranked the highest in terms of predictor importance. In conclusion, a strategic SDC pattern involving multiple lobes bilaterally is identified for PSD at 3 months poststroke. The SDC score is an independent predictor of PSD and may improve the predictive performance of the clinical-sociodemographic-psychological prediction model, providing new evidence for the brain-behavior mechanism and biopsychosocial theory of PSD.

Objectives Numerous stress management interventions have been implemented in the workplace, but few are adapted to the healthcare setting. Due to the nature of their jobs, healthcare workers (HCWs) may find it difficult to adopt recommended stress management strategies. We present the protocol for a 12-week personalized stress management intervention among HCWs to change their behavior as well as improve physiological/psychological outcomes. Methods It is a pragmatic quasi-experimental study involving stressed HCWs from two general hospitals in Wuhan, China. The intervention group will receive a complex interactive multimodal intervention, including advanced education via mobile connection, participation in a web-based social network, tailored feedback, and the support of a nurse coach, while the control group will engage in self-guided stress management. Results The primary outcome is centered on behavioral measures, namely improvements in stress management practice frequency after a 12-week intervention. The secondary outcomes are the changes in stress-related physiological indices (i.e. high frequency variability and normalized unit assessed by Holter) and psychological indicators (scores on the Perceived Stress Scale and Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale) following 12 weeks of treatment. Conclusion The knowledge translation intervention builds on a body of work defining the role of individualized instruction and feedback intervention, as well as group intervention through WeChat social network and personalized coaching. We believe this novel intervention will help HCWs promote their stress management awareness and skills, and ultimately benefit their long-term health. Oil and gas pipelines are often exposed to the natural hazards, and the action of these natural hazards on the oil and gas pipelines may result in a series of technological hazards such as fire and explosion, which are referred to as the Natural Hazards Triggering Technological Accidents (Natech events), so that the pipelines system shows a higher vulnerability level. Herein, the relationship among risk, resilience and vulnerability was clarified by summarizing and analyzing the definition of vulnerability in different research fields. Besides, the advantages, disadvantages and applicability of various vulnerability assessment methods were reviewed, and the connotation of vulnerability in Natech events was expounded by analyzing the law of successive evolution of vulnerability. In addition, the vulnerability assessment process and crucial elements of oil and gas pipelines in Natech events were discussed from six aspects, including hazard identification, region division, etc. Finally, prospect was made in combination with the current research status for vulnerability assessment under Natech events. The research results can provide theoretical reference for quantitative vulnerability assessment of oil and gas pipelines in Natech events.

Abstract The energy density of commercial lithium (Li) ion batteries with graphite anode is reaching the limit. It is believed that directly utilizing Li metal as anode without a host could enhance the battery’s energy density to the maximum extent. However, the poor reversibility and infinite volume change of Li metal hinder the realistic implementation of Li metal in battery community. Herein, a commercially viable hybrid Li-ion/metal battery is realized by a coordinated strategy of symbiotic anode and prelithiated cathode. To be specific, a scalable template-removal method is developed to fabricate the porous graphite layer (PGL), which acts as a symbiotic host for Li ion intercalation and subsequent Li metal deposition due to the enhanced lithiophilicity and sufficient ion-conducting pathways. A continuous dissolution-deintercalation mechanism during delithiation process further ensures the elimination of dead Li. As a result, when the excess plating Li reaches 30%, the PGL could deliver an ultrahigh average Coulombic efficiency of 99.5% for 180 cycles with a capacity of 2.48 mAh cm−2 in traditional carbonate electrolyte. Meanwhile, an air-stable recrystallized lithium oxalate with high specific capacity (514.3 mAh g−1) and moderate operating potential (4.7–5.0 V) is introduced as a sacrificial cathode to compensate the initial loss and provide Li source for subsequent cycles. Based on the prelithiated cathode and initial Li-free symbiotic anode, under a practical-level 3 mAh capacity, the assembled hybrid Li-ion/metal full cell with a P/N ratio (capacity ratio of LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 to graphite) of 1.3 exhibits significantly improved capacity retention after 300 cycles, indicating its great potential for high-energy-density Li batteries.

Abstract It is a long‐standing issue that the sluggish polysulfide conversion and adverse shuttling effects impede the development of lithium‐sulfur (Li‐S) batteries with high energy density and cycling stability, which necessitate the exploration of new electrocatalysts to facilitate the practical applications of Li‐S batteries. Herein, a single‐phase high‐entropy stabilized oxide (Ni0.2Co0.2Cu0.2Mg0.2Zn0.2)O (HEO850) is successfully prepared through a novel low‐temperature annealing strategy from a self‐sacrificing metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) template and then integrated into the sulfur host, where it functions as both the catalytic converter and chemical inhibitor towards the shuttle species. Furthermore, the synergistic contribution of randomly dispersed metal elements and the exposure of affluent active sites enable the chemical encapsulation of soluble polysulfides and accelerate conversion kinetics. The HEO850/S/KB cathode (KB: ketjen black; sulfur content: 70 wt.%) delivers a substantially higher initial specific discharge capacity of ~1244 mAh g−1 in comparison to MEO/S/KB (MEO: medium entropy oxide; ~980 mAh g−1), LEO/S/KB (LEO: low entropy oxide; ~908 mAh g−1), and routine S/KB cathodes (~966 mAh g−1), which is well retained at ~784 mAh g−1 after 800 cycles at 0.5 C with a low capacity decay rate of ~0.043% per cycle. Moreover, when the HEO850/S/KB cathode is processed with a high areal sulfur loading (~4.4 mg cm−2), the resulting Li‐S battery also performs well, with a high initial specific capacity of ~1044 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C and 85% capacity retention after 100 cycles. This study highlights the potential application of HEOs in enhancing the performance of Li‐S batteries and provides a novel strategy in synthesizing the HEOs at a relatively low annealing temperature for various energy conversion and storage applications.

IntroductionIn China, the long-term immunogenicity and adverse effects of inactivated vaccines produced by different or the same manufacturer remain unclear. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the cellular immune responses and neutralizing antibody kinetics of homologous and heterologous administrations of an inactivated coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine 240 days after the second vaccination.MethodsThis prospective, multicenter, observational, longitudinal study involved 595 participants with a negative SARS-CoV-2 polymerase chain reaction result who were serologically tested and followed for 8 months after vaccination. Neutralizing antibodies, interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin (IL)-6, CD4+ T-lymphocyte, and B-lymphocyte counts were evaluated in serum samples after stimulation with 2 μg/mL SARS-CoV-2 spike protein for 16 h at follow-up intervals of 2 months.ResultsMost participants [582/595; 146 male participants, 449 female participants; mean age 35 (26–50 years)] rapidly developed neutralizing antibodies after two doses of the vaccine administered 3-weeks apart. The positive rate of neutralizing antibodies peaked at 97.7% at 60–90 days, decreased, and stabilized at 82.9% at 181–240 days post-vaccination. Lower antibody concentrations were correlated with older age, longer duration after vaccination, non-health care workers, mixed-manufacturer vaccinations, and intervals of less than 40 days between two doses of vaccination, whereas lower IFN-γ levels and B-lymphocyte counts were associated with older age, blood type A, and non-health care workers. A higher IL-6 level was associated with older age, mixed-manufacturer vaccinations, intervals of less than 40 days between two doses of vaccination, and medical staff. Adverse reactions were mild or moderate and self-limited, with no serious events reported.DiscussionTwo doses of the Chinese inactivated vaccine induced robust and rapid antibody expression and cellular immune responses. Boosting vaccination is considered important, as antibodies and cellular immune responses were reduced in susceptible populations.

The double arc pitch curve is a novel way for creating a non-circular gear tooth profile. Aiming at the problems of the rounding of non-integer teeth and the nonlinear equation system in the construction of double circular arc tooth profile, an active design method based on planetary gear transmission kinematics and gear-meshing theory is proposed. By studying the double arc pitch curve of the three engagement positions, combined with the uniform theory of the relative curvature of surfaces, the distribution characteristics of the solution of the nonlinear equation system are analyzed in depth, leading to the optimal solution of the characteristic parameter values of the pitch curve. Combined with UG modeling and ADAMS motion simulation, the gear engagement force and the angular velocity of the planetary gear around the center are compared and analyzed in the case of integer tooth ratio and non-integer tooth profile. The results show that the engagement force of the gear pair constructed by integer teeth is reduced by about 17%. The optimal combination of the numbers of teeth is determined by orthogonal experiments, on which trial production and hydraulic load tests are based. The results reveal that the torque of the product at a rated speed is about 2.6% higher than that of foreign prototypes, which verifies the effectiveness of the design method proposed in this paper.

Researchers have previously investigated the role of Trichopria drosophilae as a pupal parasitoid in the biological control of Drosophila suzukii in China. Here, we investigated the ability of T. drosophilae to parasitize D. suzukii pupae at different temperatures. To do this, we evaluated the functional response of T. drosophilae to D. suzukii pupae at different temperatures and investigated the specific effects of density on parasitism. The results show that the parasitic functional response of T. drosophilae under different high-temperature stimuli is Holling type II. After processing at 29 °C, the instantaneous search rate was 1.1611; the theoretical maximum parasitic value was 20.88 at 31 °C. The parasitic efficiency decreased with increasing stimulation temperature, as the host pupa density increased from 5 to 25, and the strongest search effect occurred at 0.87 at 27 °C. The searching effect of T. drosophilae at each temperature fell gradually with an increase in prey density from 5 to 25. At 31 °C, the theoretical parasitic maximum of T. drosophilae reached a maximum of 20.88 pupae. At this temperature, when a pair of T. drosophilae was placed in a pupa density of 50, its actual total number of parasites was 18.60.

Guanylate-binding proteins (GBPs) are highly expressed interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) that play significant roles in protecting against invading pathogens. Although their functions in response to RNA viruses have been extensively investigated, there is limited information available regarding their role in DNA viruses, particularly poxviruses. Ectromelia virus (ECTV), a member of the orthopoxvirus genus, is a large double-stranded DNA virus closely related to the monkeypox virus and variola virus. It has been intensively studied as a highly effective model virus. According to the study, GBP2 overexpression suppresses ECTV replication in a dose-dependent manner, while GBP2 knockdown promotes ECTV infection. Additionally, it was discovered that GBP2 primarily functions through its N-terminal GTPase activity, and the inhibitory effect of GBP2 was disrupted in the GTP-binding-impaired mutant GBP2K51A. This study is the first to demonstrate the inhibitory effect of GBP2 on ECTV, and it offers insights into innovative antiviral strategies.

Article Highlights The highlight of the study reported here is threefold: Firstly, a high-precision spatial error model of the machine tool is derived by means of the screw theory. Secondly, a precision evaluation method of the machine tool combining qualitative and quantitative spatial error of the machine tool is proposed. Thirdly, through example verification, the high-precision spatial error model has a good compensation effect, which has great significance to the precision machining of the machine tool.

In this paper, we discuss problems that integer part of nonlinear forms with prime variables represent primes infinitely. We prove that under suitable conditions there exist infinitely many primes $ p_j, p $ such that $ [\lambda_1p_1^2+\lambda_2p_2^2+\lambda_3p_3^k] = p $ and $ [\lambda_1p_1^3+\cdots+\lambda_4p_4^3+\lambda_5p_5^k] = p $ with $ k\geq 2 $ and $ k\geq 3 $ respectively, which improve the author's earlier results.

Aqueous zinc (Zn)-based energy storage devices possess promising applications for large-scale energy storage systems due to the advantage of high safety, low price, and environment-friendliness. However, their development is restricted by dendrite growth and hydrogen evolution issues from the Zn-metal anode. Herein, a facile stress-pressing method is reported for constructing a grid zinc anode (GZn) with a conductive framework. The highly conductive copper (Cu)-mesh framework reduces electrode hydrogen evolution and increases electrode conductivity. Meanwhile, the in situ-formed Cu-Zn nano-alloy stabilizes the Zn deposition interface. As a result, the GZn symmetrical cell presents a low overpotential of 49 mV after cycling for 1,200 h (0.2 mA∙cm−2). In addition, GZn displays its potential application as a universal anode for Zn-ion capacitors and batteries. An activated carbon||GZn Zn-ion capacitor delivers a stable cycling performance after 10,000 cycles at 5 A∙g−1 and MnO2||GZn Zn-ion batteries exhibit satisfactory cycle stability and excellent rate performance. This demonstrates that GZn appears to be a promising universal anode for Zn-ion capacitors and batteries.

BackgroundThe global COVID-19 pandemic has posed a major threat to human life and health, and new media technologies have intensified the spread of risk perception.PurposeThis study aimed to explore the impact of risk information ground on online users’ perceived health risks, and further explore the mediating role of psychological distance and the moderating role of self-efficacy.MethodsA total of 25 Internet users from different provinces in China were interviewed in-depth, NVIVO.11 was used to qualitatively analyze the interview text data and construct a theoretical model. A total of 492 interviewees were recruited in order to complete a scenario questionnaire, SPSS-27 was used to perform orthogonal experiments, generate eight combinatorial scenarios, analyze demographic data, and clean and prepare data for testing hypotheses. SmartPLS 3.0 was used to test the conceptual model using the structural equation model (SEM) of the partial least squares (PLS).ResultsThe analysis of the SEM model shows that all planned hypotheses (Information fluency → Information diagnosability, Information extensibility → Information diagnosability, Information diagnosability → Psychological distance, Platform interactivity → Scenario embeddedness, Network connectivity → Scenario embeddedness, Scenario embeddedness → Psychological distance, Psychological distance → Risk perception, Psychological distance → Self-efficacy → Risk perception, Information fluency → Information diagnosability → Psychological distance → Risk perception, Information extensibility → Information diagnosability → Psychological distance → Risk perception, Platform interactivity → Scenario embeddedness → Psychological distance → Risk perception, Network connectivity → Scenario embeddedness → Psychological distance → Risk perception) are confirmed.ConclusionThis study found that the information ground factors significantly affect online users’ perceptions of health risks, psychological distance mediates the effect of information ground factors on risk perception, and self-efficacy negatively moderates the effect of psychological distance on risk perception.

Abstract Alkali metal batteries (AMBs) are promising next‐generation high‐density electrochemical energy storage systems. In addition, current collectors play important roles in enhancing their electrochemical performances. Thus, it is essential to have a critical review of the most recent advances in engineering the current collectors for high‐performance AMBs. In this review paper, the fundamentals of alkali metal deposition on current collectors will be introduced first. Then recent advances in the development of advanced metal and carbon‐based current collectors are examined for boosting the stability and cycle life of lithium metal batteries (LMBs) in terms of various strategies including 3D architectural design and functional modifications. Thereafter, the research progress in design of advanced current collectors will be analyzed for sodium/potassium metal batteries, especially the counterparts that do not follow the paradigms established in LMBs. Finally, the major challenges and key perspectives will be discussed for the future development of current collectors in AMBs.

Antibody development is the integral process of generating and characterizing an antibody. It commences by inoculating the antigen of interest into laboratory animals, allowing the immune system develops large quantities of antibodies. This was aimed at developing antibodies against the virion of Goatpox and Sheeppox virus vaccines. The ability of Goatpox and Sheeppox vaccines was assessed. Regarding this study, the antibody titers against both Goatpox and Sheeppox viruses was increased in the same manner. The amount of IgG was determined to be 2.29 μg/μl and 2.18 μg/μl against virions of Goatpox virus and Sheeppox respectively. The purified IgG was analyzed by SDS-PAGE. Different bands of the purified antibodies were clearly visualized, and the molecular weight of IgG was estimated to be 67 kDa and 25 kDa. Additionally, antigen/antibody binding was confirmed by Western blot using GTPV A27 antigen. No significant differences in antibody titers were observed between the two groups (p < 0, 05).

The hydrodynamic bearing is the key part of many rotating machines, and dynamic characteristics of the bearing would affect the operation performance of machines directly. Thus, this study focused on dynamic characteristics of long journal bearings and tried to illustrate the influence of surface roughness on dynamic performances of long bearings. Applying Christensen stochastic model and long bearing approximation, the modified Reynolds equation was established. To solve the modified Reynolds equation, the numerical integration method was applied. It is found that the surface roughness would significantly weaken the stability threshold speed, normal stiffness coefficients ( K XX * , K YY * ), and crossed dampness coefficients ( C XY * and C YX * ) for the long bearing with a large eccentricity ratio. In summary, the influences of surface roughness cannot be ignored during discussing dynamic characteristics of long journal bearings.

Poxviruses have been associated with humans for centuries. From smallpox to mpox to lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV), members of the poxvirus family have continued to threaten the lives of humans and domestic animals. A complete understanding of poxvirus-mediated cellular processes will aid in the response to challenges from the viruses. In this study, we demonstrate that LSDV infection results in an abnormal ultrastructure of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) lumen in primary bovine embryonic fibroblast (BEF) cells, and we further show that an ER imbalance occurs in LSDV-infected BEF cells. Additionally, we believe that ER stress-related apoptosis plays a role in the late apoptosis of BEF cells infected with LSDV, primarily through the activation of the CCAAT/enhancer binding protein homologous protein (CHOP)-Caspase-12 signal. In addition to cell apoptosis, a further investigation showed that LSDV could also activate autophagy in BEF cells, providing additional insight into the exact causes of LSDV-induced BEF cell death. Our findings suggest that LSDV-induced BEF cell apoptosis and autophagy may provide new avenues for laboratory diagnosis of lumpy skin disease progression and exploration of BEF cell processes.

Ti4+-ion-doped (n + 1)SrO − nCeO2 (n = 2) ceramic systems were prepared with the conventional solid-state reaction method, and the effects of the phase structures and compositions, sintering behaviors, microstructures and microwave dielectric properties of these ceramic systems were investigated in detail as a function of TiO2 content. The analytical results of the XRD patterns show that the pure (n + 1)SrO − nCeO2 (n = 2) system is a composite-phase ceramic system with coexisting SrCeO3 and Sr2CeO4 phases (represented as a SrCeO3 + Sr2CeO4 system), which belong to the orthogonal structures of the Pmcn (62) and Pbam (55) space groups, respectively. For the xTiO2-(1 − x) (SrCeO3 + Sr2CeO4) (x = 0.1–0.4) ceramic samples, the secondary phase Sr2TiO4 can also be detected within the range of the investigated components. Meanwhile, the Raman spectroscopy, SEM-EDS, and HRTEM (SAED) analysis results also verified the correctness and consistency of the phase structures and compositions for all the given specimens. In addition, complex impedance spectroscopy was used to detect the conductive behavior of these compound ceramic systems, and the calculation results show that the appropriate addition of Ti4+-ions can make the SrCeO3 + Sr2CeO4 system have better thermal stability. The composition of x = 0.2 multiphase structural ceramic sample sintered at 1330 °C for 4 h has a near zero τf value of ~−4.6 ppm/°C, a moderate εr of ~40.3 and a higher Q × f~44,020 GHz (at 6.56 GHz). The relatively superior-performing ceramics developed in this work are expected to provide a promising microwave dielectric material for communication components.

Microwave-absorbing materials have attracted extensive attention due to the development of electronic countermeasures. In this study, novel nanocomposites with core–shell structures based on the core of Fe-Co nanocrystals and the shell of furan methylamine (FMA)-modified anthracite coal (Coal-F) were designed and fabricated. The Diels-Alder (D-A) reaction of Coal-F with FMA creates a large amount of aromatic lamellar structure. After the high-temperature treatment, the modified anthracite with a high degree of graphitization showed an excellent dielectric loss, and the addition of Fe and Co effectively enhanced the magnetic loss of the obtained nanocomposites. In addition, the obtained micro-morphologies proved the core–shell structure, which plays a significant role in strengthening the interface polarization. As a result, the combined effect of the multiple loss mechanism promoted a remarkable improvement in the absorption of incident electromagnetic waves. The carbonization temperatures were specifically studied through a setting control experiment, and 1200 °C was proved to be the optimum parameter to obtain the best dielectric loss and magnetic loss of the sample. The detecting results show that the 10 wt.% CFC-1200/paraffin wax sample with a thickness of 5 mm achieves a minimum reflection loss of −41.6 dB at a frequency of 6.25 GHz, indicating an excellent microwave absorption performance.

Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common primary liver malignancy lacking effective molecularly-targeted therapies. HBO1 (lysine acetyltransferase 7/KAT7) is a member of MYST histone acetyltransferase family. Its expression and potential function in HCC are studied. We show that HBO1 mRNA and protein expression is elevated in human HCC tissues and HCC cells. HBO1 expression is however low in cancer-surrounding normal liver tissues and hepatocytes. In HepG2 and primary human HCC cells, shRNA-induced HBO1 silencing or CRISPR/Cas9-induced HBO1 knockout potently inhibited cell viability, proliferation, migration, and invasion, while provoking mitochondrial depolarization and apoptosis induction. Conversely, ectopic overexpression of HBO1 by a lentiviral construct augmented HCC cell proliferation, migration and invasion. In vivo, xenografts-bearing HBO1-KO HCC cells grew significantly slower than xenografts with control HCC cells in severe combined immunodeficient mice. These results suggest HBO1 overexpression is important for HCC cell progression.

Abstract Background Orf virus (ORFV) is a member of the genus Parapoxvirus and family Poxviridae. The virus has a worldwide distribution and infects sheep, goats, humans, and wild animals. However, due to the complex structure of the poxvirus, the underlying mechanism of the entry and infection by ORFV remains largely unknown. ORFV ORF047 encodes a protein named L1R. Poxviral L1R serves as the receptor-binding protein and blocks virus binding and entry independently of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). The study aimed to identify the host interaction partners of ORFV ORF047. Methods Yeast two-hybrid cDNA library of sheep testicular cells was applied to screen the host targets with ORF047 as the bait. ORF047 was cloned into a pBT3-N vector and expressed in the NMY51 yeast strain. Then, the expression of bait proteins was validated by Western blot analysis. Results Sheep SERP1and PABPC4 were identified as host target proteins of ORFV ORF047, and a Co-IP assay further verified their interaction. Conclusions New host cell proteins SERP1and PABPC4 were found to interact with ORFV ORF047 and might involve viral mRNA translation and replication.

Industrial accidents triggered by natural disasters (Natech events) pose huge threats to chemical clusters. Flood is a significant cause of Natech events, the interactions between flood and chemical installations may lead to complex accident scenarios. However, the chemical clusters are often not well prepared for flood Natech events due to the lack of guidance on how to implement prevention and mitigation measures. In this paper, the characteristics of flood Natech events are firstly discussed, which provide a clear understanding of accident evolution. Based on the review of several Chinese standards related to flood prevention in chemical clusters, corresponding requirements are summarized. The requirements mainly focus on the planning and design stages. To cope with flood Natech events in a long-term vision, a comprehensive safety framework for chemical clusters is proposed in this article considering a resilient viewpoint, in which different roles of government, chemical cluster, and chemical plant are discussed. Moreover, three sub-models are divided to manage safety measures before, during, and after accidents, contributing to improving the resisting ability, adaptability, and recoverability of chemical clusters to flood Natech events, respectively.

Chemical industrial park (CIP) is a typical accident-prone safety-critical system, which is usually congested with high-density hazardous installation units. Domino effects triggered by natural hazards are one of the emerging threats in CIPs, imposing tremendous challenges on society, environment, and economy. This work focuses on analysing the evolution mechanism of natural hazard-induced domino chain (NHDC) from a macro-systematic perspective. Based on the disaster chain theory and the thought of system science, a disaster chain evolution system (DCES) is developed to clarify the accident propagation characteristics. Inspired by the multi-source multi-level propagation pattern of NHDC, the Na-tech layer, the domino layer and the destruction layer are used to form the specific system structure of DCES. A Markov process-based accident propagation (MPAP) model is proposed to cope with the uncertain and complex accident scenarios associated with the evolution process of NHDC. Through formulating the system response process, the proposed MPAP model can reveal the general law of accident evolution. Finally, a general system dynamic response process of DCES is provided to reveal the propagation law of domino effects triggered by natural disaster from a macro-systematic perspective.

Agricultural landscape patterns can affect the population dynamics of pest insects. We selected four landscapes (flower field, mountain, river and urban) based on principal components analysis in Yunnan Province, south China. Through systematic investigation carried out in tomato fields, we intended to clarify the population dynamics and densities of Bemisia tabaci under different landscape types. During the main activity period of B. tabaci, the population densities of B. tabaci nymphs in tomato fields in the river and the urban landscape types were the highest compared to the other landscape types; the population densities of female adults in tomato fields in the river landscape type were also the highest. While the population densities of B. tabaci nymphs and female adults in the flower landscape type, no more than five individuals (ind.) 100 cm−2 leaf in both years, were the lowest. The density of B. tabaci nymphs in the middle position of tomato plants was higher than those in the other positions, while the density of adults in the upper position of tomato plants was higher, regardless of landscape types. Our findings showed that the population growth of B. tabaci can be easily controlled by the flower landscape type.

Background Small single subcortical infarction (SSSI) may be classified as parent artery disease-related or only branch involved according to the stenosis of parent artery. The study aimed to evaluate short-term and long-term prognoses and the effectiveness of antiplatelet therapy in SSSI.Methods We prospectively enrolled 2890 patients with SSSI from the Third China National Stroke Registry (CNSR-III) database from August 2015 to March 2018. We assessed clinical outcomes and antiplatelet treatment effects in patients with SSSI with and without parent artery stenosis (PAS) identified by magnetic resonance angiography.Results Among 2890 patients with SSSI in the perforator territory of the middle cerebral artery and the basilar artery, there were 680 (23.53%) patients with PAS and 2210 (76.47%) patients without PAS, respectively. Abstract Rechargeable sodium metal batteries (SMBs) have emerged as promising alternatives to commercial Li‐ion batteries because of the natural abundance and low cost of sodium resources. However, the overuse of metallic sodium in conventional SMBs limits their energy densities and leads to severe safety concerns. Herein, we propose a sodium‐free‐anode SMB (SFA‐SMB) configuration consisting of a sodium‐rich Na superionic conductor‐structured cathode and a bare Al/C current collector to address the above challenges. Sodiated Na3V2(PO4)3 in the form of Na5V2(PO4)3 was investigated as a cathode to provide a stable and controllable sodium source in the SFA‐SMB. It provides not only remarkable Coulombic efficiencies of Na plating/stripping cycles but also a highly reversible three‐electron redox reaction within 1.0–3.8 V versus Na/Na+ confirmed by structural/electrochemical measurements. Consequently, an ultrahigh energy density of 400 Wh kg−1 was achieved for the SFA‐SMB with fast Na storage kinetics and impressive capacity retention of 93% after 130 cycles. A narrowed voltage window (3.0–3.8 V vs. Na/Na+) further increased the lifespan to over 300 cycles with a high retained specific energy of 320 Wh kg−1. Therefore, the proposed SFA‐SMB configuration opens a new avenue for fabricating next‐generation batteries with high energy densities and long lifetimes.

Vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) has a wide range of cell tropism, making it a prototype of studying the negative-strand RNA virus (NSRV), including virus–host interactions and vaccine development. Although VSV rescue systems have been progressively optimized throughout time, the T7-based expression system is the most commonly utilized to rescue VSV. However, it remains a significant barrier for many labs. In our study, we found that rescue VSV’s efficiency is associated with the various multiplicities of infection (MOIs) of recombinant vaccinia virus expressing the T7 RNA polymerase (vTF-7.3). It works at maximum efficiency while the MOI of vTF-7.3 is 5, which is analyzed by quantitative PCR, Western blot, and flow cytometry, compared to the lowest rescue level with MOI of 1. Meanwhile, our data also suggest that purification of vTF-7.3 prior to transfection is a prerequisite for VSV rescue. Overall, our study reveals for the first time a precise correlation between vTF-7.3 and rescue efficiency, which may aid in resolving the uncertainties in the quest to build the VSV reverse genetic system.

The Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is a leading cause of mosquito-borne viral encephalitis worldwide. Clinical symptoms other than encephalitis, on the other hand, are substantially more prevalent with JEV infection, demonstrating the relevance of peripheral pathophysiology. We studied the peripheral immunopathogenesis of JEV using IFNAR deficient (IFNAR–/–) mice infected with the SA14-14-2 strain under the BSL-2. The body weight and survival rate of infected-IFNAR–/–mice decreased significantly. Infected-IFNAR–/–mice’s liver and spleen demonstrated obvious tissue damage and inflammatory cell infiltration. There was also extensive viral replication in the organs. IFN-α/β protein expression was dramatically elevated in peripheral tissues and serum, although the related interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) remained low in the spleen and liver of infected-IFNAR–/–animals. Consistently, the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) analysis using RNA-sequencing of spleens showed inflammatory cytokines upregulation, such as IL-6, TNF-α, and MCP-1, and IFN-γ associated cytokine storm. The infiltration of macrophages and neutrophils in the spleen and liver of SA14-14-2-infected IFNAR–/– mice was dramatically elevated. However, there was no significant difference in tissue damage, viral multiplication, or the production of IFNα/β and inflammatory cytokines in the brain. Infection with the JEV SA14-14-2 strain resulted in a lethal peripheral inflammatory response and organ damage without encephalitis in IFNAR–/– mice. Our findings may help shed light on the peripheral immunopathogenesis associated with clinical JEV infection and aid in developing treatment options.

The gas leakage of one buried natural gas pipeline laid in parallel into the air, which results in explosion, maycause the other adjacent target pipeline to fail. In order to study the dynamic response of the target pipeline, a method fordefining the methane-air mixed gas with the non-linear finite element program LS-DYNA was established, the stress anddisplacement changes of the target pipeline under the action of the explosion of hemispherical gas cloud were studied bynumerical simulation, and quantitative analysis was carried out to the six influencing factors including pipe spacing, burieddepth, the wall thickness, diameter and operating pressure of target pipe, and the radius of gas cloud. The results show that, compared with TNT equivalent method and TNO multi-energy method, this method is more accurate in simulating near-fieldexplosions of gas cloud, the maximum equivalent Mises stress of the target pipeline is about 548 MPa when the pipelineis under the action of a flammable gas cloud with a radius of 21m and then yield failure will occur to the pipeline, radialdisplacement happens to the points on the cross-section of target pipeline and the entire pipe sinks, and the parallel pipespacing, buried depth and the radius of leaked gas cloud have a significant effect on the Mises peak stress of target pipeline.Besides, the research results could provide reference for optimization of the risk prevention and control plan of pipelineduring its design and operation.

Lateral lymph node metastasis in rectal cancer was first reported in the 1950s, since then, there has been an on-going debate about the value of lateral lymph node dissection (LLND) in the management of rectal cancer. We carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the value of LLND for the patients with rectal cancer. To collect clinical studies for the comparison of LLND and non-LLND in patients with rectal cancer, PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases were searched from inception to 2019.A total of 26 studies, including 6865 patients were enrolled. Data processing and statistical analyses were performed using Stata V.15.0 software and Review Manager 5.3 software. Outcome measures included the 5-year survival rate, recurrence rate, perioperative outcomes, urinary function, and male sexual function. Regarding efficacy, our meta-analysis results showed no difference in 5-year disease-free survival rate and local recurrences between the two groups, the Hazard Ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) was1.07 and 0.89 to 1.28 (P = 0.496),and the Odds Ratio(OR) and 95% CI were 0.90 and 0.76 to 1.06 (P = 0.208), respectively. Concerning safety, the incidence of urinary dysfunction and male sexual dysfunction was significantly increased in the LLND group (OR = 2.14, 95%CI = 1.21–3.79, P = 0.009), and (OR = 4.19, 95%CI = 1.55–11.33, P = 0.005), respectively. In conclusion, LLND did not improve the long-term prognosis of patients with rectal cancer, and was associated with increased urinary dysfunction and male sexual dysfunction.

Non-stoichiometric Nd(1+x)(Mg1/2Sn1/2)O3 (−0.04 = x ≤ 0.04, NMS) ceramics were fabricated via a conventional solid-state reaction method. Crystal structures and morphologies were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The main crystalline phase is monoclinic Nd(Mg1/2Sn1/2)O3 with a double perovskite structure (P21/n space group) for the NMS system proved by XRD. The sample at x = 0.01 has the best crystallinity and evenly distributed crystal grains observed by SEM. The optimum performances (εr = 19.87, Q×f = 41840 GHz, f = 12.05 GHz) are obtained at x = 0.01. Lattice vibrational modes of the Raman spectra were assigned and illustrated, in detail. The dielectric properties obtained by fitting infrared reflectance spectra with the help of four-parameter semi-quantum model are consistent with the calculated values by microscopic polarization and damping coefficients. The reverse translational vibration of the NdMgO6, the F5u(5) mode, provides the greatest contribution to the dielectric response. The relationships between crystal structures and dielectric properties were mainly established using lattice vibrational modes as a media.
