Abstract

The Super $\tau$-Charm facility (STCF) is an electron-positron collider proposed by the Chinese particle physics community. It is designed to operate in a center-of-mass energy range from 2 to 7 GeV with a peak luminosity of $0.5\times 10^{35}{\rm cm}^{-2}{\rm s}^{-1}$ or higher. The STCF will produce a data sample about a factor of 100 larger than that by the present $\tau$-Charm factory -- the BEPCII, providing a unique platform for exploring the asymmetry of matter-antimatter (charge-parity violation), in-depth studies of the internal structure of hadrons and the nature of non-perturbative strong interactions, as well as searching for exotic hadrons and physics beyond the Standard Model. The STCF project in China is under development with an extensive R\&D program. This document presents the physics opportunities at the STCF, describes conceptual designs of the STCF detector system, and discusses future plans for detector R\&D and physics case studies.

2. Compositeness and several applications to exotic hadronic states with heavy quarks

Abstract

Several methods for studying the nature of a resonance are applied to resonances recently discovered in the bottonomium and charmonium sectors. We employ the effective-range expansion, the saturation of the width and compositeness of a resonance, as well as direct fits to data. The latter stem from generic $S$-matrix parameterization that account for relevant dynamical features associated to channels that couple strongly in an energy region around the resonance masses, in which their thresholds also lie. We report on results obtained with these methods for the resonances $Z_b(10610)$, $Z_b(10650)$, $Z_{cs}(3985)$, $Z_c(3900)$, $X(4020)$, $X(6900)$, $X(6825)$, and $P_{cs}(4459)$., Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, contributed to "XVth Quark Confinement and the Hadron Spectrum Conference" (1-6 August 2022, Stavanger, Norway)

Abstract

Background: The avian leukosis virus (ALV-J) is a retrovirus causing irreversible damage and loss of function in tissues and organs in a chicken body, especially in those related to the immune system, thus resulting in considerable economic loss. Methods: We measured the changes in the weights of immune organs, such as the spleen, bursa of Fabricius, thymus, heart and liver and body weight at days 3, 5, 7, 14, 21, 28 and 42 after ALV-J infection and analysed the differences between the corresponding tissues and normal groups at each time. Result: The unique weight change in pspleen tissues indicates that the organ plays an important role in fighting ALV-J infection in the early stage. Moreover, the phenotypic inhibition of ALV-J in the tissues and organs started to appear 28 days after infection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

6. Pi pi scattering lengths at O(p^6): resonance estimates

Abstract

In a previous paper, some deviations were found in the O(p^6) low-energy constants that contribute to the pi pi-scattering lengths. This work completes the study of all the relevant couplings (r_1, ... r_6, r_S2). We also perform a reanalysis of the hadronical inputs used for the estimation (resonance masses, widths...), checking the impact of the input uncertainties on the determinations of the chiral couplings and the scattering lengths a^I_J. A good agreement is found with respect to former works, though our detailed analysis produces a more solid estimate of these couplings and slightly larger errors. The effect in the final values of the a^I_J is negligible after combining them with the other uncertainties, being the previous scattering length determinations sound and reliable. Nevertheless, the uncertainties derived here for the O(p^6) contributions to the scattering lengths point out the limitation on further improvements unless the precision of the O(p^6) low-energy couplings is properly increased., Comment: 7 pages. Using $1/N_C$ expansion and dispersion theory techniques, without relying on any explicit resonance lagrangian, we generalize the KSRF relation beyond the leading chiral order. Two sum rules for the low energy constants $L_2$, $L_3$ and a new relation between resonance couplings are derived. 13. Meta-analysis of the diagnostic value of serum procalcitonin for burn sepsis in adults.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Serum procalcitonin (PCT) reflects the infection status of the organism and the severity of the infection. The purpose of this study was to systematically evaluate the diagnostic value of serum PCT for burn sepsis in adults and to provide a factual basis for future clinical diagnosis and decision-making. MATERIALS AND METHODS: On August 16, 2022, six databases were searched in this study and a total of 856 studies were found. The retrieved literature was comprehensively evaluated according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the valid data were extracted and included for analysis. The number of true positives, false positives, true negatives and false negatives were used as indicators to evaluate the diagnostic value of serum PCT for burn sepsis in adults. RESULTS: In total, 15 studies met the inclusion criteria. Meta-analysis showed a combined sensitivity of 0.78 (95% CI: 0.69-0.84), a combined specificity of 0.85 (95% CI: 0.77-0.91), a combined positive likelihood ratio of 5.17 (95% CI: 3.25-8.25), a combined negative likelihood ratio of 0.26 (95% CI: 0.19-0.37), and a combined diagnostic ratio of 19.63 (95% CI: 10.17-37.90). The AUC was 0.88 (95% CI: 0.85-0.90). CONCLUSIONS: Serum PCT provides good early diagnostic benefits for burn sepsis in adults. 32. Clinical and biological impact of LINC02544 expression in breast cancer after neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Analysis of breast cancer and cancer tissue after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (nCT) may be helpful to find new biomarkers. It is known that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in the carcinogenic pathway and drug resistance of breast cancer. Our aim was to determine the role of LINC02544 in the behavior and outcome of post-nCT breast cancer. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The expression level of LINC02544 in breast cancer and its effect on the survival time of patients were predicted by lnCAR database. In vitro, EdU, Wound-healing and transwell assays were used to detect the effects of LINC02544 on the proliferation, migration and invasion of MCF-7 cells, and the related regulatory networks were analyzed by the database. Quantitative Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (QRT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of LINC02544 in 147 cases of nCT before and after treatment, and the relationship between the expression of LINC02544 and survival time and clinicopathological features was analyzed. RESULTS: LINC02544 was highly expressed in breast cancer and led to poor prognosis. Overexpression of LINC02544 promoted proliferation, invasion and migration of breast cancer cells. Compared with the residual tumor after nCT with low expression of LINC02544, the high expression of LINC02544 in the residual tumor after nCT was significantly correlated with overall survival and disease-free survival. CONCLUSIONS: In this study, it is suggested that LINC02544 has a potential application prospect as a biomarker and therapeutic target for breast cancer patients and neoadjuvant therapy patients. Abstract

Anisotropic MnBi/SmFeN (MnBi=0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 wt. %) hybrid bonded magnets were prepared using MnBi powders and commercial SmFeN powders. With the increase in MnBi content from 0 to 100 wt. %, the density of the hybrid magnets improves linearly from 4.27 g/cm3 to 6.3 g/cm3, while the coercivity of the hybrid magnets does not change much at 293 K. For the pure MnBi magnet, the coercivity is increased from 10.76 kOe at 293K to 16.5 kOe at 373 K. For the hybrid magnet with 40 wt. % MnBi, the coercivity is increased by 19% compared to pure SmFeN magnet at 373 K. In the temperature range of 293 K-373 K, the coercivity temperature coefficient of the hybrid magnets changes gradually from -0.42%/K for the pure SmFeN magnet to -0.11%/K for the magnet with 80 wt. % MnBi, and becomes 0.67%/K for the pure MnBi magnet. The effect of Ta addition on the structure and magnetic properties of melt-spun SmCo7-xTax (x =0-0.6) ribbons has been investigated. The intrinsic coercivity increases dramatically from 1.9 kOe for Ta-free ribbon to 9.8 kOe for SmCo6.7Ta0.3 ribbon, while further increasing Ta results in little enhancement of the coercivity. XRD patterns reveal that SmCo7-xTax ribbons crystallize in the pure TbCu7-type structure for low Ta substitution of x⩽0.3 and a minor phase of TaCo3 appears when x>0.3. According to Rietveld structure refinement, the ternary alloying element Ta prefers to occupy the 2e site of TbCu7-type structure. Abstract

The crystal structure and magnetic properties of melt spun SmCo7-xMx (M=Ta, Cr, and Mo; x =0-0.6) ribbons have been investigated. Based on x-ray diffraction analysis, it is found that a pure TbCu7-type structure is formed in the melt spun SmCo7-xTax (x=0-0.3) ribbons, while minor amount of additional 2:17 phase appears for the SmCo7-xMx (M=Cr and Mo; x=0.1-0.6) ribbons, implying that the elements in VIB group (Cr and Mo) are inferior to the element in VB group (Ta) in stabilizing metastable 1:7 phase. The result, analyzed by Rietveld refinement method, shows that Ta, Cr, and Mo may occupy the 2e site of 1:7 phase, which leads to the enhancement of the magnetic anisotropy field of 1:7 phase, just like Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, or V did. From the magnetic performance point of view, with increasing the content of doping element x from 0 to 0.6, the maximum coercivity of SmCo7-xMx ribbons is enhanced from 1.9 kOe for binary SmCo7 to 11.3 kOe for M=Ta, 6.6 kOe for M=Cr, and 7.5 kOe for M=Mo, respectively, while the remanent magnetization is all reduced for the above ternary alloy ribbons. Abstract

Magnetic properties, phase evolution, and microstructure of melt spun Sm(Co0.97M0.03)xCy (M =Hf and Zr; x=5-9; y=0-0.15) ribbons quenched at the wheel speed of 40 m/s have been investigated. X-ray diffraction analysis show that the main phases exist in Sm(Co0.97M0.03)x ribbons are 1:5 for x=5 and 5.5, 1:5 and 1:7 for x=6 and 6.5, 1:7 for x=7 and 7.5, 1:7 and 2:17 for x =8, and 2:17 for x=8.5 and 9. The grain size of 200-500 nm for these two series of ribbons is almost unchanged when x is increased from 5 to 9. Accordingly, the magnetic properties of Sm(Co0.97M0.03)x ribbons (M=Hf and Zr) are mainly dominated by their phase constitutions. Furthermore, a slight addition of C to Sm(Co0.97M0.03)x ribbons refines the grain size down to 10-50 nm, resulting in the improvement of magnetic properties. Sm(Co0.97Hf0.03)7.5C0.1 ribbons show the optimal magnetic properties of Br=6.9 kG, iHc=9.2 kOe, and (BH)max=10.0 MGOe. For the Sm-lean Sm(Co,Hf)xCy (x=8.5-9) ribbons, higher Hf and C content are required to improve the magnetic properties. Abstract

Magnetic properties, phase constitution, and microstructure of melt spun R-lean and B-enriched Mischmetal (MM)–Fe–Co–Ti–B nanocomposites have been investigated. The thermal magnetic analysis show that only 2:14:1 and α-Fe [α-(Fe,Co)] phases appear for MM(A)9.5Fe78.5Ti2B10 and MM(A)9Fe79.5Co2.5Ti1B8 ribbons, while an additional Fe3B phase is present for R9.25Fe79.25Co2.5Ti1B8 [R=MM(A), MM(B), and MM(C)] ribbons. The magnetic properties of the above nanocomposites are determined not only by the phase constitution of MM–Fe–Co–Ti–B nanocomposites but also by the composition of MMs. Besides, fine grain size of 15–40 nm is almost unchanged for the ribbons with various MMs, giving rise to the strong exchange coupling effect between magnetic grains and the improved magnetic performance. In this study, the optimum magnetic properties of Br=9.6 kG, iHc=8.6 kOe, and (BH)max=18.2 MG Oe can be achieved for MM(B)9.25Fe79.25Co2.5Ti1B8 nanocomposites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The crystal structure and magnetic properties of melt spun Sm(Co,V)7 ribbons have been investigated. It was found that SmCo7-xVx ribbons may crystallize in pure TbCu7-type structure for x=0.1–0.3 spun at a high wheel speed of 40 m/s. The structure refinement results show that the doping element V prefers to occupy the 2e site of TbCu7-type structure. Besides, transmission electron microscopy images show that with increasing V content, the grain size was refined from 200–400 nm for x=0.1 to 40–100 nm for x=0.3. As a result, the intrinsic coercivity enhances effectively from 1.9 kOe for SmCo7 ribbon to 11.5 kOe for SmCo6.7V0.3 ribbon. It is also verified that a slight addition of C to SmCo7-xVx could further refine the microstructure, resulting in the improvement of the magnetic properties of SmCo7-xVx ribbons.
