Abstract

Hyaluronic acid （HA）， a natural substance widely present in the human body， exhibits diverse physiological regulatory effects and is often found in the structurally stable form known as sodium hyaluronate （SH）. HA finds extensive use in the food industry. Many countries and regions， including Japan， the United States， and the European Union， permit the use of HA in common foods. In contrast， Korea allows HA only in healthy foods and beverages. In China， approval for HA （in the SH form） as a health food ingredient was granted in 2008， and its usage was expanded to general food in December 2020. This study provides an overview of the characteristics of the product， its oral efficacy， regulatory categories， production processes， scope of application， safety limits， and approved functional claims both domestically and internationally. The goal is to explore its applicability and potential market demand. Simultaneously， the status of relevant regulations and approved uses are organized and analyzed to offer a systematic reference for the research and development， regulation， and consumption of HA-related food products. The aim is to promote the rational use and development of HA in the food industry.

21. Preparation and characterization of magnesium coating deposited by cold spraying

Abstract

Magnesium (Mg) and its alloys have a great potential as structural materials due to their beneficial combination of high strength to weight ratio, high thermal conductivity and good machinability. However, few literatures about Mg coatings fabricated by cold spraying can be found. In this study, Mg coatings were fabricated by cold spraying, and the microstructure, phase structure, oxygen content and microhardness of the coating prepared under different main gas temperatures were investigated. The critical velocity of the particle was evaluated through numerical simulations. The particle deformation behavior and bonding mechanism were discussed. The result of the oxygen content test shows that the oxygen contents of the coatings did not increase comparing with that of the feedstock powder. The simulation results show that the critical velocity of Mg particles was in a range of 653 m/s to 677 m/s. The observation of the coating fracture morphology shows that the formation of the coating was due to the intensive plastic deformation and mechanical interlocking. The microhardness of the coating increased with the increase of the main gas temperature from 350oC to 450oC due to the decrease of the coating porosity., Comment: 20 pages, 9 figurs

26. Development of a Safe and Effective Bacillus thuringiensis-Based Nanobiopesticide for Controlling Tea Pests

Abstract

Mg(OH)2was used as the nanocarrier of the Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt) Cry1Ac protein, and the synthesized Cry1Ac–Mg(OH)2composites were regular and uniform nanosheets. Nano-Mg(OH)2could effectively improve the insecticidal effect of the Cry1Ac protein toward Ectropis obliqua. It could enhance the damage degree of the Cry1Ac protein to intestinal epithelial cells and microvilli, induce and enrich the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the midgut, and enhance the degradation of the Cry1Ac protein into active fragments. Furthermore, an anti-rinsing assay showed that the Cry1Ac–Mg(OH)2composites were bound to the notch structure of the tea leaf surface. The retention of the Cry1Ac protein increased by 11.45%, and sprayed nano-Mg(OH)2was rapidly absorbed by different tissues of tea plants. Moreover, nano-Mg(OH)2and composites did not significantly affect non-target organisms. These results show that nano-Mg(OH)2can serve as a safe and effective biopesticide carrier, which provides a new approach for stable and efficient Bt preparation.
