22. Graphene-assisted preparation of large-scale single crystal Ag(111) nanoparticle arrays

Abstract

Surface plasmon resonance of metal nanostructures has broad application prospects in the fields of photocatalysis, optical sensing, biomarkers and surface-enhanced Raman scattering. This paper reports a graphene-assisted method for preparing large-scale single crystal Ag(111) nanoparticle arrays based on ion implantation technique. By surface periodic treatment and annealing of the implanted sample, regularly arranged Ag nanoparticles can be prepared on the sample surface. A new application for graphene is proposed, that is, as a perfect barrier layer to prevent metal atoms from evaporating or diffusing. All the Ag NPs show (111) crystal orientation. Besides, the Ag atoms are covered by graphene immediately when they precipitate from the substrate, which can prevent them from being oxidized. On the basis of this structure, as one of the applications of metal SPR, we measured the Raman enhancement effect, and found that the G peak of the Raman spectrum of graphene achieved about 20 times enhancement.

Abstract

Fresh mushrooms have a long history of cultivation and consumption, but high postharvest losses are a concern in the commercial production of mushrooms worldwide. Thermal dehydration is widely used in the preservation of commercial mushrooms, but the flavor and taste of mushrooms are significantly altered after dehydration. Non-thermal preservation technology, which effectively maintains the characteristics of mushrooms, is a viable alternative to thermal dehydration. The objective of this review was to critically assess the factors affecting fresh mushroom quality after preservation is remarkable, with the ultimate goal of developing and promoting non-thermal preservation technology for preserving fresh mushroom quality, effectively extending the shelf life of fresh mushrooms. The factors influencing the quality degradation process of fresh mushrooms discussed herein include the internal factors associated with the mushroom itself and the external factors associated with the storage environment. We present a comprehensive discussion of the effects of different non-thermal preservation technologies on the quality and shelf life of fresh mushrooms. To prevent quality loss and extend the shelf life after postharvest, hybrid methods, such as physical or chemical techniques combined with chemical techniques, and novel nonthermal technologies are highly recommended. 41. A patterning technology of transfer-free graphene for transparent electrodes of near-ultraviolet light-emitting diodes.

Abstract

Graphene is well known for its excellent physical and chemical properties and can be used in various fields. Its application technology has become an important direction of research. In this study, a patterning technology of transfer-free graphene is reported, and graphene transparent electrodes of near-ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are fabricated accordingly. In the scheme, Ni film plays the dual role of an etching mask and graphene growth catalyst, realizing the patterning growth of graphene. An SiO2 isolation layer is deposited between Ni and the substrate, avoiding the fusing of the substrate with Ni by the high temperature of graphene growth, which makes the method applicable to nominally any high temperature-compatible metal and semiconductor substrates. Both Ni and SiO2 are then removed, thus directly achieving a good contact between graphene and the substrate. The graphene transparent electrodes fabricated by this method greatly improves the performance of near-ultraviolet LEDs, which is even better than that of indium tin oxide (ITO) in the near-ultraviolet band based on the optical measurement results. This scheme avoids any possible damage and contamination of graphene in traditional transfer and lithography patterning processes, which is scalable and suitable for real applications. Abstract

To enhance the emission of GaN-based Micro-LEDs (μLEDs), we etched uniform nanorods (NRs) on the μLED surface and filled the nanorod gaps with spin-on glass (SOG) containing mixed Ag nanoparticles (NPs). The nanorod structure creates a conducive environment for close interaction between Ag NPs and quantum wells (QWs), facilitating the coupling of Ag NPs as localized surface plasmons (LSPs) with the QWs to enhance light emission. The SOG acts as an insulating layer between Ag NPs and NRs, preventing electron leakage, while also serving as a planarization material for the nanorod structure. This configuration allows for the fabrication of a planar Indium Tin Oxide layer without short-circuiting the nanorod structure. Compared to traditional planar Micro-LEDs, NR-μLEDs with SOG-encased Ag NPs exhibit a 50% increase in electroluminescence (EL) intensity and a 56% increase in photoluminescence (PL) intensity. 50. Effect of TiO2content on the thermal control properties of Al2O3-xTiO2composite coatings prepared by supersonic plasma spraying technology

Abstract

The main challenge faced by spacecraft is the large temperature difference in its operating environment. Thermal control coatings prepared on spacecraft and instrument surfaces are currently the most efficient ways for heat dissipation and control. In this work, Al2O3-xTiO2composite coatings with different TiO2contents were prepared on 7075-Al alloy substrate by supersonic plasma spraying technology. The microstructure, phase composition, mechanical properties, thermal control properties, and corrosion resistances of the coatings were investigated. The raw stock feeds were mainly composed of α-Al2O3and anatase TiO2, but the coatings were mainly γ-Al2O3and rutile TiO2. The average Vickers microhardness of the coatings decreased from 1198.9 to 810.4 HV0.2with the increase of TiO2contents, but the elastic modulus increased from 158.5 to 244.3 GPa. The thermal control properties of the coatings were promoted with the growth of TiO2contents, and the absorptance increased from 27.1 to 89.2% with the emittance from 83.7 to 86.5%. The corrosion potential and corrosion resistance of the coating gradually increased with TiO2content due to its gradually improved hydrophobicity. This work broadens the application boundary of Al2O3-xTiO2composite coating and provides an innovative idea for material selection of thermal control coatings.
