Objective: Previous studies have indicated that the nucleotide-binding domain, leucine-rich repeat containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is activated by monosodium urate in the trophoblast of preeclampsia (PE) patients, leading to augmented placental IL-1β levels. Thus, the purpose of our study was to investigate the association between NLRP3 polymorphisms, rs10754558 and rs2027432, and PE in Chinese Han population.Methods: The NLRP3 polymorphisms, rs10754558 and rs2027432, were genotyped by real-time PCR in 1024 PE patients and 1194 control subjects. A χ2 test was used to compare the genetic distribution between the two groups, and an analysis of variance was used to conduct the genotype-phenotype analysis.Results: We demonstrated a significant difference in genotypic frequency of the rs10754558 (χ2 = 9.97, p = .007) in NLRP3 between PE patients and controls. Additionally, there was a significant difference between cases and controls in the dominant model of G allele (χ2 = 7.70, p = .006, odds ratio =0.77, 95%confidence interval 0.64-0.93). What's more, the genotypes distributions of rs10754558 were found to be associated with both the severe and late onset PE. (χ2 = 8.53 p = .01, χ2 = 9.24, p = .01.) However, no significant statistic differences were found in the genotypic distributions and allelic frequencies for rs2027432 between two groups (for genotypic distribution, χ2 = 0.17, p = .92; for allelic frequency, χ2 = 2.26, p = .13, odds ratio =0.90, 95% confidence interval 0.79-1.03).Conclusions: Our results reveal that NLRP3 may be involved in the development of PE in a Chinese Han population. Photo-Fenton reactions and the related functional nanomaterials have been widely studied for applications in wastewater treatment industry. Herein, visible-light-responsive Fe2O3 nanoparticle-decorated BiVO4 nanoplates were designed and successfully prepared through a one-pot hydrothermal route. The as-prepared Fe2O3/BiVO4 nanocomposites exhibit excellent photo-Fenton catalytic activity toward the discoloration of methylene blue (MB) and Rhodamine B (RhB) dye molecules in the presence of H2O2. The experimental results indicate that nearly 100% of MB (100 mL, 10 mg L−1) and RhB (100 mL, 5 mg L−1) dye molecules are degraded in the presence of 1 g L−1 Fe2O3/BiVO4-1 (FB-1) photo-Fenton catalyst and 0.5 mL of H2O2 within 20 min. The Fe2O3/BiVO4 Fenton photocatalyst also demonstrates high reusability under visible light irradiation with λ ≥ 420 nm. The photoinduced electrons on the conduction band of BiVO4 nanoplates can move toward the surface of Fe2O3/BiVO4 to accelerate the reduction of Fe3+; then, the as-formed Fe2+ ions on the surface of the catalyst greatly enhance the decomposition of H2O2 to form reactive ·OH species for the use in photodegradation of MB and RhB dye molecules. The synergetic effect of Fe2O3 and BiVO4 reported in this work might provide more opportunity to fabricate other novel semiconductor-based Fenton nanocomposites for contamination treatments in wastewater. Objective: To identify the relationship between thyroid autoimmunity and antinuclear antibody (ANA) prevalence in Chinese pregnant women., Methods: The study involved 1923 first-trimester women who were measured for thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level, thyroid autoantibodies (thyroperoxidase antibody [TPOAb] and thyroglobulin antibody [TgAb]) and ANA titer. Social demographic data were collected through standardized questionnaires., Results: In this study, 23.3% of pregnant women tested positive for TPOAb and 9.9% tested positive for TgAb. Women with a positive ANA were more likely to be TPOAb-positive or TgAb-positive than women with a negative ANA (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 1.96, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.47-2.62 for TPOAb [+]; AOR 3.12, 95% CI 2.18-4.48 for TgAb[+]). In addition, ANA titers were closely associated with thyroid autoimmunity. Women with an ANA titer of >1:320 had a significant higher risk of being TPOAb positive or TgAb positive (AOR 4.49, 95% CI 1.48-13.66 for TPOAb [+]; AOR 5.51, 95% CI 1.65-18.49 for TgAb [+]). The higher the ANA titer, the greater the risk of developing thyroid autoimmunity, especially for those with a high ANA titer., Conclusions: ANA positivity is strongly correlated with thyroid autoimmunity.
